Pamela Kay Myatt
 

Pamela Kay Myatt, 40, of Paragould, passed away March 1, 2012 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Born October 14, 1971 in Paragould, she was an employee of L. A. Darling, and was of the Baptist Faith.

She is survived by her husband, Randy Myatt of the home; her mother, Mary Smith of Paragould; one daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Chad Depew of Paragould; three brothers, Joe and Kenneth Smith, both of Paragould, and Enis Brown of Little Rock; two sisters, Karen Milam of Paragould and Crystal Coats of Clinton, Arkansas; one grandchild, Ezekiel Depew, and one step-grandchild, Zachray Depew.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Smith, and one brother, Jimmy Smith.

Funeral services will be Monday March 5th, 2:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Stallings officiating. Burial will be in Finch Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening, 6:00 until 9:00 at the Mitchell Funeral Home.

James Henry Guthrie

 


James Henry Guthrie, 80, of Paragould passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Evergreen Health and Rehab in Rector.

He was born May 8, 1931, in Rector, was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the General Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Guthrie of Paragould; two daughters Jami Skrade and her husband, Mark, of Springfield, Missouri, Jodi Miller of Paragould; and stepson, Charles Yeargain and his wife, Becky, of Paragould. He is also survived by one brother, Eugene Guthrie of Kennett; and three sisters, Erma Shelton of Paragould, Betty Cordell and Mary Curtis, both of Rector.

Surviving grandchildren are Kate Skrade, Anna Skrade, Jacob Mowery, and Madeline Mowery all of Springfield, Lorean Brown and Lindsay Wortham both of Paragould, Nathan Yeargain of Pocahontas; and one great grandchild, Hayden Yeargain of Pocahontas.

Visitation will be Saturday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home of Rector.

Funeral services will be Sunday, March 4th, 2:30 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Rector with Marsten Carpenter and Ron Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Heights Cemetery.

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Kenneth Wayne Hampton, Jr.

 


Kenneth Wayne Hampton, Jr., 52, of Paragould, died Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born May 9, 1959, in Rector, Mr. Hampton was an employee of Emerson Electric and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Kenneth Wayne, Sr. and Glenda L. Hampton of Marmaduke; his mother, Glenda Bozark of Paragould, stepfather, Johnny Bozark of Marmaduke; five sons, Aaron (Kelly) Hampton of Paragould, Chris (Sarah) Wheat of Florence, Alabama, Dustin (Ty) Wheat of Jonesboro, Tyler Wheat and Tanner Wheat both of Piggott; and two daughters, Gabrielle (Richard) Smith of Rector and Katelyn Hampton of Paragould.

He is also survived by two brothers, David (Shelly) Hampton of Marmaduke, Brian (Lisa) Hampton of Paragould; three sisters, Kathy (Michael) Lyerly of Paragould, Ginny (Clint) McCord of Monette, Tammy (Cliff) Edwards of Poughkeepsie, New York; his companion, Betty, of Paragould; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday evening, 6:00 until 9:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.

Funeral services will be Sunday, March 4th, 2:00 p.m. at Marmaduke First Baptist Church with Kim Bridges officiating. Burial will follow in Harvey’s Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.

David Lee Stovall

 


David Lee Stovall, 68, of Paragould, died Thursday, March 1, 2012, at his home.

Born August 3, 1943, in Arbyrd, Missouri, Mr. Stovall retired from the US Postal Service. He also formerly worked as an auto body mechanic and at Gazaway Lumber Company. He was a member of the NRA, the Hornersville Masonic Lodge, and was of the Methodist faith

Survivors include his wife, Joan Stovall of the home; and two sons, Todd Stovall and Shane Stovall of Paragould. He is also survived by three brothers, Lyle Spillman of Paragould, Bill Stovall, Jr. of Little Rock, Freddie (Lenan) Stovall of Heber Springs; three sisters, Lynn Goodson of Paragould, Cindy (Tim) Norton and Debbie (Bo) Verser, all of Heber Springs; and four grandchildren, Annah Witcher, Allie Witcher, Chandler Stovall and Garrett Stovall.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Stovall, Sr.; his mother, Opal Spillman; stepmother, Vivian Stovall; and stepfather, Bob Spillman

Visitation will be Monday, March 5th, 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Graveside services will be conducted Monday, at 1:00 p.m. at Linwood Cemetery with Bill Stovall, Jr. officiating. The procession will leave Mitchell Funeral Home at 12:50 p.m., Monday.

John Cody Moore
 



John Cody Moore, 20, of Rector, died Thursday, March 1, 2012 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born June 25, 1991 in Paragould.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather: Nita and Huston Bowden of Rector; father and stepmother: John and Dede Moore of Paragould; maternal grandmother: Erma Steveson of Pocahontas; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dennis and Eleanor Moore, maternal grandfather, Larry Steveson, grandparents, Huston and Jean Bowden, Grandma and Grandpa Frek Moore; Great Grandpa Jarvis and great uncle, Michael Woodside.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, 6:00 until 9:00 at Heath Funeral Home. His life will be celebrated Wednesday, March 7th, 10:00 a.m.at Heath Colonial Chapel with Reverend Ardell Polk officiating.
Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Arron Spears, Joey Cox, James Hall, Brent Graham, Agustine Lopez and Nick Green. Honorary pallbearers are Dustin Montgomery, Chris Wilson, Derrick Whitaker, Shawn Midkiff, Cody Banning, Jacob Chronister, and James Bradshaw and the members of the Greene County Rescue Squad.

Amber Lynn Sanders

 

Amber Lynn Sanders, 28, of Paragould, died Thursday, March 2, 2012 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. Born June 7, 1983, she had lived in Paragould since 1997 moving there from Bradford, Arkansas. Amber was of the Baptist belief. She was a loving wife, mother and daughter and was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Don Henderson; grandfathers, Fred Henderson J. O. Brown.

Survivors include her husband of ten years, Trent Sanders; sons, Jimmy Dalton Sanders, Jarred Dawson Sanders; daughters, Katie Sue Sanders and April Rene Sanders; and mother, Louise Henderson all of the home.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 8th, 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Crossroads Cemetery with cousins serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, 5:00 until 7:00 at the funeral home.

Artie F. Kennedy
 


Artie Kennedy, 99, of Memphis, formerly of Clay County passed from this life Friday, March 02, 2012 at her residence. She was born November 8, 1912 to the late Thomas and Sara Fielder in Clay County. Ms. Kennedy was married to Odell Kennedy and was of the Methodist belief.

Artie was preceded in death by her husband Odell Kennedy, one brother: Thomas Fielder, and two sisters: Carrie Clardia, and Lora Fielder.

One sister survives Ms. Kennedy: Velma Gill of Memphis, Tennessee, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Arties life will be held Saturday March 3rd, 11:00 a.m. at the Irby Funeral Home chapel in Rector with Pastor Mace Straubel officiating. There is no visitation or committal service planned.
Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery west of Rector.

Alma Katherine Ridenhower

Alma Ridenhower, 75 passed away Saturday in Paragould.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons; two brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by husband, Johnnie “Dub” Ridenhower of Imboden; daughters, Sharon Lockard of Elolia, Mo; Linda Wills of Houston, Tx; and San Patterson of Ravenden Springs; sons, Johnnie Ridenhower of Paragould and Thomas Ridenhower of Poplar Bluff; two sisters; 22 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be Monday, March 5th, 10:00 a.m., at House Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge with burial following in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Visitation is one hour prior to service.

Thelma Earline Jenkins
 



Thelma Earline Jenkins, 66, Paragould, died Sunday, March 4, 2012 at St Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro. Earline was born March 15, 1945, in Lake City, Arkansas, the daughter of the late May Hugh and Orlen Young Irvin. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Gene, Bud, and Tommy Irvin. Earline was retired from Emerson Electric Company and loved gardening and cooking.

She is survived by her husband: Larry Jenkins of the home; daughter: Angela Chrisco of Paragould; sons: Jeff Henry of Fort Smith, Carry Jenkins of Paragould; sisters: Gail Turner of Paragould, Lora Adams of West Memphis; brother: Charles Irvin of Paragould; nine grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Her life will be celebrated at Heath Colonial Chapel, Wednesday, March 7th, 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Baldwin officiating.

Emma "Dell" Delitha Spurlock Hunt, 88, of Hudson, FL, died Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Gulfside Hospice Center at Bayonet Point in Hudson, FL. She was born August 9, 1923 in Gainesville, AR. the daughter of the late Horacio and Rosie Gay Spurlock. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James Roy Hunt, brothers, Robert, Conrad and David Spurlock, sisters, Ella Weaver and Ruth Long,and sister-in-law, Blanche Hollowell.

Survivors include her daughter, Delois Elaine Worden of Hudson, Florida; sister-in-law: Rheba Hunt; of Paragould, brother-in-law: Ted Hunt, Lennon, Michigan; grandchildren: Ronald and Sue Worden, Tony and Cindy Worden, and Michelle Worden Young, all of Charlotte, Michigan, several great and great great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 9th, 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Heath Funeral Home. Friends and family will meet for a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. at Greene County Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Ronnie Winn officiating.

John James Ragsdell
 


John James (Bud) Ragsdell, 88 of Rector passed from this life on Tuesday March 6, 2012 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. He was born on November 15, 1924 to the late John and Della (James) Ragsdell in O'Kean, Arkansas, and married Shirley (Jones) Ragsdell on April 2, 1963 in Hardy, Arkansas. Mr. Ragsdell was of the Pentecostal faith, served our country as a veteran, and was a member of the Masons and V.F.W.

John was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Albert Ragsdell, Cecil Ragsdell, Gene Ragsdell, Darrel Ragsdell, and a sister: Lorene Ragsdell.

Mr.Ragsdell is survived by his wife: Shirley of the home, three sons: Kenny Ragsdell of Colorado, Randal Ragsdell of Colorado, and Keith Stephen of Rose Bud, Arkansas, one Daughter: Debbie Ragsdell of Phoenix, Arizona, eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held Friday March 9th, 3:00 p.m. at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Pastor David King officiating.
Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the chapel.

Charline Dinkins

 


Charline Dinkins, 68, of Corning, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at her residence.

Born August 12, 1943, in Gosnell, Mrs. Dinkins was a retired nurse. She was a member of the Lafe Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Thurman Dinkins of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Roy Dinkins of Peach Orchard, and Troy and Angie Dinkins, of Boydsville. She is also survived by two brothers, Carl Keeling of Peach Orchard, Teddy Keeling of Lynn; two sisters, Diana Stormes of Knobel, Julie Haney of Beech Grove; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Curby and Viola Keeling; and one brother, Terry Keeling.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 9th, 10:30 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with David Poe officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

William C. Wyatt
 


Col. (Ret.) William C. Wyatt, O.D.,72, of Pocahontas, formerly of Paragould, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born April 17, 1939, in Paragould, he was a graduate of ASU and the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. Col. Wyatt was a veteran of Vietnam and of Desert Storm and retired from the Army after 36 years of service. He was an optometrist for 40 years, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Pocahontas, and a member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah S. Wyatt of Pocahontas; his mother, Juanita C. Wyatt of Jonesboro; and two brothers, John Wyatt of Paragould and Rick Wyatt of Jonesboro. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Blair Smith of Olathe, Kansas, Clint Smith of Edmond, Oklahoma, Courtney McMurry of Nixa, Missouri, J. R. Wyatt of Memphis, Tennessee, David Wyatt of Jonesboro, and Richard Wyatt of Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his father, W. A. Wyatt.

Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 9th, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Rocky Starnes and Rev. Glen Pettus officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Linwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be furnished by the U.S. Army and members of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association will serve as honorary pallbearers. Patriot Guard Riders will escort the procession to the cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the charity of donor’s choice or to the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association.

Anna Mae Shewmaker

 


Anna Mae Shewmaker, 70, of Jonesboro passed away Wednesday March 7, 2012 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. She was born August 29, 1941 in Delaplaine, Arkansas and had lived in Jonesboro most of her life. She was a production worker and was of the Church of God Seventh Day. She loved her children, grandchildren, brothers and her sisters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorris Shewmaker, parents, Benjamin and Mary Pitcher, brothers, James and Leon Pitcher.

Survivors include, her daughter, Gail Slater of Jonesboro, sons; Gary Grisham of California and Ken Aynes of Oklahoma, brothers; Dawel and Phillip Pitcher both of Paragould and Benjamin Pitcher of Marmaduke, sisters, Mary Ball of O’Kean, Katie Grooms of Paragould and Ruth Bruton of Delaplaine, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Sunday March 11th, 1:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel, with Adam Bruton officiating. Burial will be at Greene County Memorial Gardens, with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until service time at Emerson Memorial Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Grant Pitcher, Matt Pitcher, Al Ball, Jonathan Ball, Robert Grooms, Jeremiah Bruton and Logan McPherson.

Violet Louise Roberts Ford, 90 of Paragould, died Saturday at Greene Acres Nursing Home. Violet was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal belief.

She was preceded in death by 2 husbands; brother, R. C. Roberts and a sister, Inez Clark. Survivors include her daughter, Thelma Jean Johnson of Paragould; brothers, Eugene Roberts of San Antonio, TX, Farris E. Roberts of Burton, MI, Charles and Richard Roberts of Paragould; sister, Eula Pearl Wax Gilliam of Gilbert, AZ., two grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Monday, March 12th, at 10:00 A.M. at Bowman Cemetery, near Lake City with Lonnie Pyle officiating. No visitation is planned.

Wilma Vaniece Hamilton
 



Wilma Vaniece Hamilton, 91 of Paragould, died March 10, 2012 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, Arkansas. She was born on March 24, 1920 in Marmaduke, Arkansas. She was a retired teacher and a member of the Marmaduke First United Methodist Church.

Wilma is survived by her son and family Allen Stewart and his wife Sharon and grandson William Stewart of Houston, Texas: her husband Lawrence Hamilton of the home and his family a son Maurice Hamilton and his wife June of Corning, Arkansas: his daughter, Patricia Pratt and her husband Bill of Marmaduke, and several grandchildren and great grand children and many other relatives and friends including one niece, Joy Pickler Moss and her husband John, two nephews, Kenneth McDowell and his wife Mary Ann, and Glyn McDowell and his wife Edyth.

Mrs. Hamilton was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Julie Wyatt, four sisters, Jewell Wyatt McDowell, Pearl Allene Wyatt Strickland, Zelma Lorene Wyatt Pickler and Velma Virginia Wyatt.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 12th, 10:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with Rev. Wayne Baldwin and Rev. Jim Thompson officiating, burial will follow in Harvey’s Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday evening, 5:00 until 8:30 at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould.

Leonard Dale McKelvey

 

Leonard Dale McKelvey, 90, of Paragould, died Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. He was born September 16, 1921 in Paragould, the son of the late Menoa Leonard and Belva Welchel McKelvey. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Arthur and Jim McKelvey.
He worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for 31 years, was of Methodist belief and loved fishing. Leonard served his country during the World War II in the Army Air Corps.

He is survived by his wife: Onari Yvonne McKelvey, of the home; son and daughter-in-law: Randy and Kathy McKelvey of Belleville, IL; brothers: Ray McKelvey of Morton, IL, Ralph McKelvey of Santa Fe, NM; grandchildren: Heather Allen and Kristen Black; great grandchildren: Tanner, Cade, Tucker and Cooper.

The family will receive friends Thursday, March 15th, 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Heath Funeral Home. His life will be celebrated following visitation Thursday at the Heath Colonial Chapel, with Reverend Dave White and Reverend Melvin York officiating.
Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers are Josh Black, Ronald McDonald, David Yates, Winston Yates, Mark McPherson, and Joe Wallace. Fred Rutledge is an honorary pallbearer.

Lee Allen Conklin
 


Lee Allen Conklin, 52, of Paragould died Sunday, March 11, 2012 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born July 9, 1959, in West Covina, CA. he was the son of the late Dennis and Jean Selton Conklin and had been a long-time area resident. He served his country in the United States Army and was an avid sports fan.

He is survived by three daughters, Janet Koch, Jennifer Lewis and Jessica Conklin, all of Lawton, OK.; two brothers, Patrick Joseph Conklin of Lawton and Thomas Edward Conklin of Salmon, ID; three sisters, Peggy Joyce Baker of Monrovia, CA., Marilyn Marie Lords of UT., and Carrol Kendrick of Paragould; five grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Francis Conklin.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 15th, 5:00 p.m. at the House of Prayer in Paragould with the Rev. Mary Blankenship officiating. The family will receive visitors from 3:00 p.m. until service time at the church. The family has requested a private disposition under the direction of Faith Funeral Service of Manila.

Marie Mathis

 


Mrs. Bessie Marie Mathis, 74, of Paragould, AR., passed away March 11, 2012 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. Mrs. Mathis was born October 9, 1937 in Peach Orchard, AR. She was a retired cook and of the Baptist Faith.

She married her husband Dillon Mathis on July 26, 1974. He preceded her in death on April 24, 2003.

She is survived by her daughter Tammy Reed of Paragould, AR.; a brother Leland White of Pocahontas, AR.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents William "Bill" Clyde and Bessie (Williams) White and son Larry McRee.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 13th, 2:00 p.m. at New Covenant Worship Center in Paragould with Docter Dennis Bradley officiating. Burial will follow the service in New Friendship Cemetery near Paragould. Public visitation will be Tuesday, March 13th, 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church.

Norma Jean Pemberton, age 68, of Jonesboro, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. She was born September 4, 1943 at Paragould to Harrell and Lorene French Miller. Mrs. Pemberton was a homemaker and a member of the Liberty Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, J.C. Miller.

Survivors include her husband, Al Pemberton; two daughters, Tammie Groves of Brookland and Monica Pemberton of Jonesboro; a stepson, Barry Pemberton of Brookland; three grandchildren, Chaya Aird, Schylar Futhey, and Sharon Futhey; three great-granddaughters, Kelsey Groves, Lillian Aird and Jasmine Aird; five sisters, Jackie Bowman, Verna Goodrich, Melba Warren, Sharon Allred and Cynthia Jennings; three brothers, Herbert Miller, Lester Miller and Keith Miller; and a step-grandson, Cody Pemberton.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

Graveside services will be Thursday, March 15th, 10:00 am at Rutherford Cemetery with John Mark Wilson officiating.

Robert Kenneth Richardson

 

Robert Kenneth Richardson, 79 of Paragould died Tuesday March 13, 2012 at his residence. Born October 8, 1932, he was the son of the late Orville and Mabel Witcher Richardson.
He graduated from Brookland High School and served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was based in Ardmore, OK and was sent to Iceland and France. He worked at McDonald Douglas retiring after 35 years as a General Foreman., He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Bridgeton, MO, a Deacon at West End Church of Christ in St. Louis. He was a member of the Commissary Church of Christ.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Joshua Noblin.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years Lois Richardson; sons Robert Dewayne and Jimmy David Richardson of St. Louis, MO; daughter Cynthia Noblin of Paragould; brothers Chester Richardson of Jonesboro and Jim Richardson of Truman, AR; sister Phyllis Johnson of Paragould. Grandsons Bradley and Nick Richardson; granddaughters, Jennifer Ponce, Dawn Dremann; great grandchildren, Alyssa, Tyler and Kaylee.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, March 16th, 11:00 a.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with Darrell Austin and Phil Wilkerson officiating. Burial will follow In Morrow Cemetery. James Richard Green, 74, of Paragould, Arkansas passed away March 14, 2012 in Memphis, Tennessee, surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 31, 1937 in Coahoma, Mississippi to the late John Mack and Mary Ruth (Edgeworth) Green. Mr. Green was a retired truck driver and of the Methodist faith. His hobbies included Dallas Cowboy’s football, antique cars, R.V. camping, and most of all, spending time with his family.


Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Mary Shaw.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Harris Green; daughter, Carrie “Lynn” Grigar of East Bernard, Texas; Son and daughter-in-law, John and Missy Green of Trumann, Arkansas; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Mark Noel of Southaven, Mississippi; daughter, Leslie Thomas of Olive Branch, Mississippi; grandchildren, Stacey and Nicholas Grigar of East Bernard, Texas; John Dereck and Katlynn Green of Trumann, Arkansas; Gregory Fain, Sydney, Kristen, and Ryan Noel of Southaven, Mississippi; Haley and Taylor Thomas of Horn Lake, Mississippi; great grandchildren, Alexis and Alina Gamez of Horn Lake, Mississippi; nephews and niece, Walter Shaw of Carrollton, Mississippi; Allen Shaw and Melissa Evans of Indianola, Mississippi; cousin, James Edward Cherry and his mother Lillian.

Burial will be Monday, March 19th, 11:00 a.m. at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in Birdeye, Arkansas with full military honors.

Lela Mae Hoskins



Lela Mae Hoskins, 94, of Paragould, died Friday, March 16, 2012, at Rector Nursing and Rehab in Rector, AR. She was born February 9, 1918 in Tuckerman, Arkansas the daughter of the late James and Burtha MacReath Watkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paschal Hoskins, son, James Hoskins, daughter Phyllis Hoskins, grandson, Randy Hoskins, and brothers, O'Neal and John Watkins.

Lela worked for 22 years at Brown Shoe Company in Leachville, was a homemaker who loved dancing, quilting, cooking and gardening, and a member of Pruetts Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Janice and William Martinez of Downey, CA, Bobby and June Hoskins of Piggott, Danny and Rose Hoskins, Paulette Parker, Lonnie and Joyce Hoskins, and Brenda and Dennis Matthews, all of Paragould; 23 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Her life will be celebrated Tuesday, March 20th, 10:00 a.m. at the Heath Colonial Chapel.

Dusty Leyon Yarbrough, 55, of Paragould died Saturday, March 17, 2012.

He was born at Harrisburg and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include the mother of his children, Sharon Yarbrough; son, Brad Yarbrough; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Brandon Simpson; grandchildren, Taylor Austin Yarbrough, Casey Layn Simpson, Braden Tyler Yarbrough and Madison Dawn Simpson; and brother, Harold Wayne Yarbrough, all of Paragould; and sister, Linda Faye Sturkie of South Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dusty Whitsilas Yarbrough; mother, Mary Elizabeth Clark-Yarbrough; sisters, Ruth Ann Parker, Hazel Marie Smith and Joyce Ann Bishop; and brothers, Donald Eugene Yarbrough and Billy Ray Yarbrough.

Fairrie W. “Sue” (Potts) Hagen, 88, of Paragould died Sunday, March 18, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. She was born November 9, 1923, at Arbyrd, MO, and was an employee of the Capitol Theater for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Paragould. She truly enjoyed cooking and caring for her family and friends and was a huge fan of competitive ice-skating.

She was preceded in death by her parents, W. M. and Ida May Potts, her husband, Alfred Hagen, 3 brothers: Vernon, Herschel, and Burnette Ford, and two sisters: Edna O’Brien and Bernice Grooms.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Allen Lee and Laura Hagen of Paragould; her grandson and his wife, Shawn and Chandra (Cervantes) Hagen and great-grandson August Hagen of Silver Spring, MD; a special niece, Lanita Wadley of Paragould and several other nieces and nephews; and two very special friends, Laura Jackson and Elizabeth Schwamb of Paragould.

Visitation will be held at Heath Colonial Chapel in Paragould Wednesday, March 21st. A Rosary will be held by Deacon Rex Bouldin, at 6:00 p.m. with visitation to be from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be Thursday, March 22nd, 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Fr. Mike Sinkler officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Mary L. Hollier Esteve, 87, of Paragould, died Sunday March 18, 2012 at AMMC, Paragould. She was a native of Louisiana, born January 31, 1925 in Breaux Bridge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Esteve, her mother, father, two brothers and one sister. She has resided twelve years in Paragould with her loving son, Robert Dupuis, his wife Sheryl, and her granddaughter, Tanya. She left behind four grandchildren, Tanya Litwiller and Donny Motes, Jr. of Paragould, Crystal Dupuis of Cecilia, LA, and Trish Morgan of Jonesboro. Twenty great-grandchildren were proud to call her "mom-mom".

No services are planned. She will be entombed in Louisiana.

Robert E. Hodge, Sr. 91 of Paragould died Monday March 19, 2012 at Greene Acres Nursing Home. Born June 27, 1920, Mr. Hodge was a retired insurance agent for Met Life and retired from Corner Drug. He was a member of 1st Baptist Church and a U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Bishop and Edna Bivins Hodge; sisters Helen Parkins and Ruth Korte.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Hodge of the home, son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Debbie Hodge of Paragould; daughter and son-in-law, Meryl and David Cupp of Highlands Ranch, CO; sister, Phyllis Hodge of Metropolis, IL. Dewey retired from Monroe Auto Equipment after 36 1/2 years of service, was a member of West View Baptist Church, and loved fishing.

Betty Garner, age 82, of Henderson, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at her residence. She was born August 2, 1929 in Fontaine, Arkansas to Trumann and Ida (Wilcoxson) Pratt.

Mrs. Garner married A.G. “Tuff” Garner October 22, 1948 in Light, Arkansas. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Jonesboro. She retired in 1992 from Hytrol Conveyors in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters.

Mrs. Garner is survived by a son: Keith Garner of Henderson, Arkansas, two daughters: Jan Kiech and husband Mike of Little Rock, Arkansas and Pam Tosh of Henderson, Arkansas, a brother: David Pratt and wife Patti of Light, Arkansas two grandchildren: Aaron Brown and Tina Brumley, five great-grandchildren: Emma, Stephen, Zachary, Nick and Brayden and several nieces and nephews.

Arthur J. McDaniel Jr. age 87 of Collinsville, IL born October 27, 1924 in Paragould, AR, passed away Wednesday March 21, 2012 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.

He was a retired carpenter for Local #295 in Collinsville. He was a Navy veteran and a member of the VFW Post #5691 and American Legion Post #365 both of Collinsville. He enjoyed duck hunting, gardening, and taking Caribbean cruises with his wife Nona.

He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur J. and Carlene Jones McDaniel, and a sister LaRue Stallcup.

He is survived by his wife Nona Dudley McDaniel whom he married December 21, 1954, a son John (Judy) McDaniel of Granite City, IL, three daughters Nona (Wyatt) Smith of Elsah, IL, Marcia (Robin) Biggs of Troy, IL, Janis Hunt of Paragould, AR, three grandchildren Meadrith (George) Kruse of Collinsville, Nona Lynn Smith of Bloomington, IL, Rory (Jessica) Biggs of Troy, IL, three great grandchildren, and a brother Garnet (Jane) McDaniel of Jonesboro, AR.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Huckabee Ramer, son, Gary W. Ramer, brother, Armond "Shack" Ramer and sister, Frankie Ramer Tickler. He was retired from General Motors and was a member of Ramer's Chapel United Methodist Church. Sam was a Navy WWII veteran who enjoyed hunting, gardening, dancing. He especially loved being with his neighbors and friends at the Paragould Senior Center.

She was a retired fashion show consultant and a member of the Vines Chapel Baptist Church. Thelma loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with her best friend, Connie Baine.

He is survived by two sisters, Freda Metheny of Monette, and Mary Aletta Hankte of Paragould; and by nineteen nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Martha Ella Hots; one brother, Ellis Hots; and by four sisters, Clara Pigue Swafford, Eula Arnhart, Lillian Smith-Barker, and Edna Wallis.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 26th, 1:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with L.R. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

His nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be Monday, 11:00 a.m. until time of service.

Alfred Paul Langston
 



Alfred Paul Langston, 91, of Paragould, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould.

He was born January 14, 1921, in Batesville and was retired from power line construction. Mr. Langston was a member of First Church of God.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara Arington and Connie and Richard Stuart, all of Paragould; one brother, Burl Langston of Cardwell; and one sister, Louise Brickey of Hot Springs. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Wilma Inez Langston; a son, Jerry Langston; and four sisters.

Friends may visit Thursday evening, 6:00 until 9:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.

Funeral service will be Friday, March 30th, 1:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Raymond Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Wood’s Chapel Cemetery.

Dorothy Lee Mason, 86, of Lafe, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Greene Acres Nursing Home.

Born March 26, 1925, in Morley, Missouri, Mrs. Mason retired from Emerson Electric. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and George Mellon of Salem, Virginia; two grandchildren, Wesley Shane Mellon and his wife, Michele, and Darlene Mellon-Anukpi and her husband, Patrick. She is also survived by three great grandchildren, Zoey Anukpi, Catherine and Cooper Mellon; a special niece Pam Bagley, her husband, Lee, and numerous other nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin M. Mason; and her parents, Louis and Nonie Stanfill.

Visitation will be Monday evening, 6:00 until 9:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 27th, 10:00 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Chad Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in Gainesville Cemetery.

Edward C. Raley, Sr.
 


Edward C. Raley, Sr., 86, of Paragould, died Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould. He was born March 27, 1925 in Little Rock, Arkansas the son of Jeff J. and Eva Burch Raley. He was also preceded in death by his son, Edward Raley, Jr., brothers, Tom, Jay, Bernard and Burch Raley, sisters, Mary Albertine, Marian Rainwater and Marcella Raley. Ed was the manager of Otasco and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

Survivors include his wife: Kitty Raley, of the home; son: Bernard Raley of Paragould; daughters and son-in-law: Mary Fletcher of Paragould, Jane and Mike Kelley of Little Rock; brother: Robert Joseph Raley of Little Rock; grandchildren: Cullen Fletcher, Erica Summers, Michael Summers and Robert Summers; and great granddaughter: Harper Raley Summers.

There will be a public rosary Monday evening, 6:00 until 6:30 at Heath Funeral Home. Following the rosary, the family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:00. His life will be celebrated Tuesday, March 27th, 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Father Mike Sinkler and Deacon Rex Bouldin officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mava Berniece Tharp



Mrs. Mava Berniece Tharp, 90, of Corning, AR., passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, AR. Mrs. Tharp was born July 15, 1921, in Palatka, AR., she was a homemaker, she enjoyed sewing, quilting and cooking. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She married her husband Oren Tharp on November 29, 1937. He preceded her in death on January 25, 2003.

She is survived by three daughters Emley and husand Kenny Willis of Corning, AR., Linda and husband Buddy Leonard of Corning, AR., Vicki and husband David Cordell of Paragould, AR.; one son O.J. “Bucky” Tharp and wife Christine of Alton, MO.; one sister JoAnn and husband Bo Nesbit of Marksville, LA.; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents Lloyd and Edith Pearl (Foster) Brown; one son Donnie Tharp; and two brothers Freeda and Richard Brown.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 27th, 2:00 p.m. in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Bradshaw officiating. Burial will follow the service in Black Cemetery near Success. Public visitation will be Tuesday, 12:00 noon until the time of service.

Rachel Beatrice McClain, 84, of Paragould, died Sunday, March 25, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould.

She was born November 10, 1927, in Cherry Valley, to Nolis and Lois Brown. Mrs. McClain was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Verna and Lloyd Ray; one brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Mary Massey of Belleville, Illinois; and one sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Jim Starnes of St. Louis. Survivors also include one grandson, Daniel Ray and his wife, Bridget; four great grandchildren, Devon, Zachary, John and George Ray; and by many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgel McClain; her parents; her stepfather, Albert Massey; and two sisters, Dorothy Yocum and Maxine Morris.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, March 28th, 1:30 p.m. at Greene County Memorial Gardens with Floyd Ryles officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould.

Louise Mozell Wyatt, 80, of Paragould, died Sunday, March 25, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born May 17, 1931, in Greene County, she was of the Baptist faith and attended Providence Baptist Church. She was a resident of Greene Acres Nursing Home.

Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Randall and Patricia Graves; two nephews and three nieces, Keith Graves and Michael Graves, both of Marmaduke, Gayla Roe, Teresa Pemberton, and Tina Eaker, all of Paragould; seventeen great nieces and nephews; and five great great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Estell Graves; and a brother, Ervin Graves.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 28th, 2:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Gary Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Cudd Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, 1:30 p.m. until time of service.

Mabel Lueker, 91, of Lafe, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, March 25, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. She was born February 6, 1921 in Hooker, Arkansas the daughter of the late Arthur and Emma Gerdes Tritch. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bernhard Lueker, three brothers, Ervin Tritch, Leo Tritch and Marvin Tritch and one sister, Irene Lewis.

She was a resident of Greene Acres Nursing Home and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She and her husband owned and operated a Dairy Farm and she enjoyed playing the piano and singing, cooking and making greeting cards.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law: Benny and Regina Lueker, Mark and Regina Lueker, Robert and Richard Lueker, all of Lafe: daughter and son-in-law: Gloria and Don Haddick of Jonesboro; four sisters: Ruth Lange, Nadine Green, both of Lafe, Lucille Brasher of Paragould, Opal Spellmeyer of Florissant, MO; two brothers: Winston Tritch of Paragould, Gilbert Tritch of Marmaduke; grandchildren and their spouses: Jennifer and George DuCharme of Fayetteville, Carla and Jason Weatherford of Paragould, Audra Lueker, Justin Lueker, both of Lafe, Jessica and Adam Ellis of Carlisle, Arkansas; Todd Haddick and fiance, Staci Pillows, Melanie Haddick and fiance, Tim Bickford, all of Jonesboro, Cameron Box, Jessica and John Andis, Dawn Travis of Paragould; great grandchildren: Caden, Carlee, Kinlee, Adelee, Jackson, Tayden, Jackson and Brody.

Darin Bradford Twitty


Darin Bradford Twitty, 46, of Paragould went to be with Jesus Monday, March 26, 2012.

Born August 12, 1965, at Paragould, he was the son of Billy and Wava Morgan Twitty and was a longtime area resident. Mr. Twitty was a project manager for a nuclear plant and was a member of the Christian Life Center at Brookland.

He enjoyed witnessing, reading the Bible, sightseeing and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Myra Williams Twitty of the home; a son, Cory Twitty of the home; parents, Billy and Wava Twitty of Marmaduke; a brother, DeBrent Twitty and wife Misty of Marmaduke; four sisters, Darla Eubanks and husband Randy, DeCorinthia Ussery and husband Chris, DeTonia Trayler and husband Joey, and DeLetha Clark and husband Carl, all of Paragould; a special nephew, Chris Eubanks and wife Trish, and special niece, Kristy Eubanks Agee and husband Brad, all of Paragould; 14 other nieces and nephews; four great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 30th, 10:00 a.m. in the Christian Life Center at Brookland with the Rev. Scott Trayler officiating. Burial will follow in Gainesville Cemetery at Paragould under the direction of Faith Funeral Service of Manila.

Marjorie Geraldine Garner Hicklin, 83, of Paragould passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born December 7, 1928, to the late James Earl and Gladys Irene Garner. Geraldine was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and loved flowers and reading.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Joe Hicklin; and brother, James Jr. Garner.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, David Joe and Regina Hicklin of Paragould and Chris and Cindy Hicklin of North Little Rock; daughters and sons-in-law, Sherri and Randy Smith of Paragould, Karen and Jerry Beebe of Gran Blanc, Mich., and Barbara and Ronnie McAlexander of Lebanon, Mo.; sister, Valicia Garner Cloyes; 10 grandchildren, Missy Beebe-Sain, Kristin Neibert, Jeff Beebe, Denise Goode, Debbie Carter, Ronda Dennis, Becky Hicklin, Brett Hicklin, Tyler Smith and Megan Smith; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank special nephew and niece, Larry and Brenda Garner.

Loretta “Sue” Morris Staires, age 74, of Austin, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012. She was born October 27, 1937, in Rector, Arkansas to the late William Grant Morris and Etta Lee McConnell Morris. She was a graduate of Greene County Technical where she played basketball, softball, and took business courses. She enjoyed bowling and was the 3rd Vice-President of Ventura County Bowling Association, and played woman’s fast pitch softball in Ventura, California. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting, and embroidery.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, and one sister.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, James Leland Staires of Austin; daughters, Suzette L. Pedler of Ventura, California, Shirlee J. Smith of Cabot, Arkansas; grandchildren, Jennifer D. and Patrick O’Neil of Virginia, Cynthia Brunick of Grover Beach, California, Lisa M. and Jonathan Abbey of Santa Paula, California, Stefanie A. Pedler of Grover Beach, California, Steven J. and Danane Roadinger, II of Norfolk, Virginia, four great-grandchildren, siblings, Harold and Nellie Jo Morris of Florisant, Missouri, Betty and E.J. Smith of Cabot, Arkansas, Bill Buchanan of Kennett, Missouri, and nine nieces and nephews.

Peggy Sue Carter Wilmoth

 


Peggy Sue Carter Wilmoth, 69, of Corning, died Wednesday March 28, 2012 at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould.

Born in Jonesboro on October 10, 1942, to Raymond and Ruby Beck Carter, Peggy lived in California before moving to Idaho in 1965 and then to Corning in 1993. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist belief. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by a brother, James Carter.

Survivors include her husband, William Wilmoth of the home; one son, Ty Wilmoth of Corning; two daughters, Lynn Nyland of Lafe and Lorie Adams of Paragould; her mother, Ruby Carter of Wynne; one brother, Ray Carter of Gainesville, Arkansas, and a half brother, Billy Beck of Rector; one sister, Joyce Hopkins of Wynne; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 30th, 2:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Rutherford Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday afternoon one hour prior to services in Emerson Chapel.

Kenneth Paul King, 55 of Paragould went home to be with the Lord Saturday, March 31, 2012 at his home. He loved his family and life and was of the Christian faith.
