James Lee Dunkin Sr.
James Lee Dunkin Sr., 64, of Paragould died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at his residence.
Born in Fresno, Calif., he had worked as a mechanic for the Ford Motor Co.
Survivors include a son, James Lee Dunkin Jr. of Paragould; three daughters, Linda
Robinson, Kathy Greenwood and Marsha Holmes, all of Hanford, Calif.; a sister, Edna Duncan
of Judsonia; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
No services are planned. The body will be cremated under the direction of Heath Funeral
Home.
Ann Alstadt Bland
Ann Alstadt Bland, 77, of Paragould, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at Williamson Medical
Center in Franklin, Tennessee. Born in Rector, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Henry
Lee and Bertha Ann (Roberts) Alstadt, she graduated from Rector High School in 1944 and
was a 1948 University of Arkansas graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Social Welfare.
She was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority and of the Sisterhood of PEO.
Her husband, Robert Preston "Bob" Bland, Sr., also preceded her in death.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Preston and Donna Bland; daughter and
son-in-law, Barbara and Riley VanHorn, all of Paragould; grandchildren, Rob and Gina Bland
of Franklin, Tennessee, Anna VanHorn of Fayetteville, Jonathan VanHorn of Paragould and
great-granddaughter, Delaney Bland of Franklin, Tennessee.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church in
Paragould with Reverends Bill Williams and David Moseley officiating.
Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery. Pallbearers: Jason Bland, Jake Bland, Rob Ratton,
Luke Cook, John Cook, Caleb Williams.

Brenda Sue Blankenship
Graveside services for Brenda Sue Blankenship, 50, of Paragould, who died Thursday, March
3, 2005, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Brown's Chapel
Cemetery.
Dave Eckhart will officiate, and Heath Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. A
memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in
Paragould.
Born in Paragould, she was a homemaker and a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's
Witnesses.
Survivors include her husband, Tim Blankenship of the home; a son, Jeremy Blankenship of
Brooklyn, N.Y.; a daughter, Doncie Blankenship of Paragould; her parents, Don and Lucy
Friend of Paragould; and a sister, Donna Simmons of Marked Tree.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Billy W. Mitchell
Billy W. Mitchell, 73, of Paragould died Thursday, March 3, 2005, at his residence.
Born in Paragould, he was a self-employed building contractor, a baseball coach and a
member of Brown's Chapel Baptist Church and Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Sue Mitchell of Paragould; four sons, C.D. Mitchell
and Bill Mitchell, both of Paragould, Verl Mitchell of Little Rock and Lanny Buckner of
Flint, Mich.; four daughters, Donna Box and Shelia Ann Long, both of Paragould, Dana Watts
of Booneville, Miss., and Susan Shaaf of Flint; four brothers, Mike Mitchell of Lake City,
Ronnie Mitchell of Paragould, Phil Mitchell of Henderson and Steve Mitchell of Jonesboro;
four sisters, Glenda Eatmon of Tyler, Texas, and Dianne Cole, Joan Huffine and Judy
Everett, all of Paragould; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton D. and Grace M. Mitchell; four brothers;
two sisters and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Brown's Chapel Baptist Church, with the
Revs. Royce Boling and the Rev. David Shrable officiating. Burial will follow in Brown's
Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Heath Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research
Hospital.
Ray Sickler
Ray Sickler, 56, of Paragould died Friday, March 4, 2005, at Arkansas Methodist Medical
Center.
He was a factory worker.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Sickler of the home; three daughters, Lisa Miller of
Manila and JoAnn Topwal and Phyllis Johnson, both of Paragould; two brothers, Jay Sickler
of Harrison and Buddy Sickler of Brookland; three sisters, Mildred Butler and Betty
Cambron, both of Paragould and Beatrice Luke of Cardwell, Mo.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper Cecil and Rachael Cullens Sickler; two
brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel,
with the Rev. Trumann Wycoff officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:30-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Harold Floyd Horner
Harold Floyd Horner, of Paragould, died March 4, 2005, at the Arkansas Methodist
Medical Center. Mr. Horner was born on June 7, 1930 in Manila, Arkansas.
Mr. Horner was a graduate of Jonesboro High School where he was active in football,
baseball and basketball. He played collegiate football for Arkansas College, now known as
Lyon College, in Batesville, Arkansas. He was in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He
went on to own a service station in 1951, and started selling automobiles in 1959 at
Central Chevrolet in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He later became the general manager at Aycock
Pontiac from 1968 to 1976. In 1976, he became a partner with C.R. Dudley Motor Co. in
Paragould. In 1984, it became Horner Motor Co., where he was currently President. Mr.
Horner served several terms on the Paragould School Board and was a long time supporter of
the Athletic Department. He was a member of the Paragould Booster Club and a member of the
First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife: Patricia Case Horner of the home, two sons and
daughters-in-law: Harold Case Horner and Bridgette Horner, Christopher Andrew Horner and
Tabatha Horner all of Paragould, one sister: Rebecca Fisher of Madison, Alabama, three
grandchildren: Alexis, Kyleigh and Natalie Horner.
Mr. Horner was preceded in death by: his father: James Floyd Horner, his mother: Mable
Turner Horner and one brother, Verlon Horner.
Graveside services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 7, 2005 at the Linwood Cemetery
with Rev. Jim Keith and Rev. David Mosely officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M.
to 9:00 P.M. today at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Don Hudson, Mike Roleson, Dale Coy, Jerry Cocker, Dr. Larry Lawson
and Keith Crook. Honorary Pallbearers will include: Bob Lang, John Tripod, Kevin Lang and

Imojean Davis
Imojean Davis, 72, of Paragould died Saturday, March 5, 2005 at her residence.
Born at Lake City, she was a homemaker and of the Lutheran belief.
Survivors include her husband, Glen Davis of Paragould; a son, Steve Davis of Paragould; a
daughter, Brenda Massey of Paragould; four grandchildren, Sara Stelle, Conley Stelle,
Michelle Warner and Samantha Davis; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Eugene Davis, and her parents, Gaines and Effie
Gipson.
There will be a memorial service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.
Visitation will be before and after the service from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Ellis 'Doll' Holloway
Ellis "Doll" Holloway, 73, of Paragould died Saturday, March 5, 2005, at St.
Bernard's Medical Center.
She was born at Marked Tree and lived there most of her life, having moved to Paragould in
2004. She was owner and operator of Doll's House of Beauty.
She was a Poinsett County State Committee member, president of Poinsett County Republican
Women's Club, treasurer for the Northeast Arkansas Region Republican Party, a delegate of
the Republican Party of Arkansas and an Arkansas delegate to the Republican Women
Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C.
She was the county coordinator for Gov. Mike Huckabee, U.S. Sen. Tim Hutchinson, Lt. Gov.
Win Rockefeller and several other Republican candidates over the past 20 years.
Survivors include her husband, L.A. "Dude" Holloway of the home; a daughter,
Donna Evans of Paragould; three brothers, Oscar F. Neiswander and Verle Bruce Neiswander,
both of Hot Springs, and Reuben Neiswander of Lake Jackson, Texas; a sister, Billie Marie
Knox of Long Beach, Calif.; three grandchildren, James Brashears, Tommy Brashears and
Melissa Greer, all of Paragould; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Marked Tree, with
Dennis Duncan officiating. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. in New Friendship
Cemetery at Paragould under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Lee Ruthven and Clifford Southerland.

John L. Smith
Funeral services for John L. Smith, 58, of Jonesboro, who died Saturday, March 5, 2005, at
his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Emerson Funeral Home's Memorial Chapel.
The Rev. Lynn Vinson will officiate and burial will follow in Lorado Cemetery.

Born at Minter City, Miss., he moved to Arkansas in 1961, having lived at Searcy before
moving to Jonesboro in 1998. He was a farmer, before becoming disabled a few years ago.
Survivors include his mother, Pearlie Pyles of the home; four brother, Walter Floyd Lee
Smith of Lake Wales, Fla., Ray Randell Woods of Bay, John Thomas Woods of West Memphis and
Ricky Dale Woods of Jonesboro; and six sisters, Myrtle Mae Minton of Mount Ida, Margie Mae
Reed of Dixie, Pearl Faye Harwood of Trumann, Brenda S. Deckelman of West Memphis and
Dixie J. Clairday and Merle Kay Lyles, both of Bay.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dyann Manes Smith, and his father, Herschel Lee
Smith.

Junius Daniel Futrell
Junius Daniel Futrell, 66, of Paragould died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at his residence.
Born at Paragould, he was an Air Force veteran and the retired owner of a motel and
restaurant in Ruston, La. He attended East Main Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, James D. Futrell of Blytheville; three daughters, Nida Lanette
Futrell of Paragould, Sheree Ewald of Hoxie and Janet Foreman of Bartlett, Tenn.; a
sister, Jean Stidman of Jonesboro; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clay and Dona Honey Futrell, and a sister.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Linwood Cemetery at Paragould. Heath
Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Rosa Marie Crow
Rosa Marie Crow, 74, of Paragould, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at her residence. She
was a retired nurses aid at Paragould Nursing Center and of the Pentecostal belief.
She is survived by her loving ex-husband, James S. Crow, Jr., of Lafe, AR, sons, James
Crow III of Paragould, AR and Dennis Zorn of Minneapolis, MN, daughters Grace Anderson of
Merrimack, NH, Carol Roberts and Betty Hendrix of Marmaduke, AR, Pam Smith, Kathy Henson,
Renee Isom and Vivian Russom all of Lafe, AR, a special adopted daughter, Regina Lawrence
of Paragould, AR, sisters, Versa Herren of Flint, MI, Lou Ellen Mikolaszuk of Granite
City, IL, Gearlene King of Oak Grove Heights, AR, Verda Crouch of Paragould, AR. 24
grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. A special adopted
grandson, PFC Tracy Isom.

Tracy Camille Carter, 25, of Marmaduke died Tuesday,
March 8, 2005 at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences at Little Rock.
Born at Paragould, she was an emergency medical technician and member of Bethel General
Baptist Church.
Survivors include her parents, Bobby Joe and Lou Carter of Marmaduke, and one sister,
Melissa Vinson of Marmaduke.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Mitchell Funeral Home of Rector, with Keith
Defries and Bill Ward officiating. Burial will be in Harvey's Chapel Cemetery.

Geneva E. Berry
Geneva E. Berry, 79, of Harrisburg, died Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at St. Bernard's Medical
Center.
She was born at Lorado and was retired from Frolic Footwear.
Survivors include three daughters, Kay Taylor of Strawberry, Jean Owens of Jonesboro and
Shirley Taylor of Lorado; one sister, Verna Lue Brown of Jonesboro; six grandchildren,
Steve Taylor of Paragould, Rhonda JoAnn Rogers of Houston, Chris McArdle of Hardy, Gail
Goodman of Bono, Chad Taylor of Dalton and Shawn Taylor of Strawberry; seven
great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Berry; and her parents, Emery and Lucy
Dennis.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lorado Cemetery, with Kenny
Johnson officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral
Home of Jonesboro.
Current and former employees of Woodbriar Nursing Center of Harrisburg will serve as
honorary pallbearers.

Martha Elizabeth Melton
Martha Elizabeth Melton, 85, of Paragould, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at her
residence.
Born April 29, 1919, in Russellville, Arkansas, Mrs. Melton was a retired cook and a
member of the Bible Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Loyd Stump, and wife, Ruth; two daughters, Virginia Weatherford
and husband, Gene, and Janice Brewer, all of Paragould. She is also survived by fifteen
grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Nancy Perkins; two sons, Alfred and
Jimmy Stump; one daughter, Joyce Bassett; and by several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., today, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with
Lynn Hetler officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery. Pallbearers will be
Richard Turner, Randy Turner, Marty Chipman, James Stump, Michael Stump and Jason Stump.
Theresa M. Morrow
Theresa M. Morrow, 73, of Paragould died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Arkansas Methodist
Medical Center.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a retired accountant for Holiday Inn and a member of First
United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a brother, Charles Roe of Paragould, and two sisters, Jeanette M. Porter
of Yazoo City, Miss., and Patricia Cosby of Paragould.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Morrow; her parents, James and Thelma
Bullock Moore; and one brother.
Graveside services are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. today in Linwood Cemetery, with the Rev.
David Moseley and the Rev. Zach Roberts officiating. Heath Funeral Home is in charge of
the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Odis Williams
Odis Williams, 89, formerly of Marmaduke, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at Cross Ridge
Hospital, Wynne.
Mr. Williams was born August 27, 1915, in Greene County, and was a retired farmer.
Survivors include two sons, Earl Dean Williams and Ronnie Lee Williams, both of Widener,
Arkansas; five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Williams in 2004; and by one son,
Vesta Gene Williams.
Funeral services will be Monday afternoon at 2:00 at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel,
Paragould, with Kim Bridges officiating. Burial will follow at the Harvey's Chapel
Cemetery, Marmaduke. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until service time Monday at
Mitchell Funeral Home.
Timothy Ray Clayton
Timothy Ray Clayton, 44, of Delaplaine died Friday, March 11, 2005
Born at Walnut Ridge, he was a graduate of Delaplaine High School and a deck hand for
Blessey Marine Services. He was studying to become a tankerman and was a member of
Delaplaine Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Elwanda Clayton of Delaplaine; and a sister, Dr. Marsha
Clayton of Monticello.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Clayton.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mitchell Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rick Ethridge
officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Ola A. Clifton, 92, of Minoa, N.Y. formerly of Senath, Mo., died Thursday, March 10, 2005
at Crouse Hospital at Syracuse, N.Y.
She was born at Marmaduke.
Survivors include one son, Harold Ferguson of Minoa; one sister, Elzada Sothard of Texas;
four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Arthur and Jeannie Virginia Haneline
Letner.

Oscar Conley Speer, 85, of Rector died Saturday, March 12, 2005 at Arkansas Methodist
Medical Center in Paragould.
He was a retired mechanic and a World War II veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Versie Conley of the home; three sons, Weldon Speer of Miami,
Okla., Aaron Speer of Marmaduke and Darrell Speer of Rector; a daughter, Sandra Benson of
Piggott; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Lucille Taylor
Lucille Taylor, 90 formerly of Paragould, Arkansas, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at the
Senath Nursing Home in Senath, Missouri. She was born on May 1, 1914, in Beech Grove,
Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a member of Walcott Church of Christ.
Survivors include: two daughters and son-in-law: Betty Fears of Sikeston, Missouri and Kay
and Harlan Greenway of Paragould; one brother: Douglas Awtrey of St. Louis, Missouri; one
sister: Juanita Boyher of St. Louis, Missouri; seven grandchildren: Tom Fears and Doug
Fears both of Orlando, Florida, Pam Lara of Stockton, California, Paula Watkins of
Diehlstadt, Missouri, Sheryl Ridge of Stanford, Arkansas, Tina Shaw and Denise Clark both
of Marmaduke, Arkansas and eighteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Joe E. Taylor; her parents: Elmer and Mattie
Awtrey; two brothers: Otis Awtrey and Thershell Awtrey; four sisters: Opal Lee Awtrey,
Geneva Awtrey, Christine Unger and Corrine Howard.

Paragould with Darrell Austin and Charles Harvill officiating; burial will follow at the

Ralph Winford, 77, of Lake City died Saturday, March 12, 2005 at St. Bernard's Medical
Center.
A Lake City native, he lived there most of his life and worked as a building contractor.
He served in the Army Air Corps and was a Mason and a member of Lake City First Baptist
Church.
Survivors include a son, Kenny Winford of Paragould; a daughter, JoAnn Newcomb of Lake
City; two brothers, Ed Winford and Ronnie Winford, both of Lake City; three sisters, Wilma
Stogsdill of Lake City, Janie Finley of Houston and Melba Caldwell of California; six
grandchildren, Denny Newcomb, Chris Newcomb, Daron Newcomb, LeaAnn Tacker, Canaan Champion
and Lance Winford; and six great-grandchildren.

Opal Richmond Winn
Opal Richmond Winn, 81 of Paragould died March 10, 2005, at the Paragould Nursing
Center. She was born on May 15, 1923, in Greene County, Arkansas. Mrs. Winn was a former
employee at Ely & Walker Shirt Factory and of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include: three sons and daughter-in-law: Thomas E. Richmond of Pontiac,
Michigan, Jimmie D. Richmond and LuAnn Richmond of Waterford, Michigan and Billie G.
Richmond of Paragould; one step daughter, Geraldine Long of Paragould; and six
grandchildren: Jeffery Richmond, Matthew Richmond, Myrna Sue Richmond, Elizabeth Norwood,
Melissa Price and Nick Auston and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Benjamin Frank Riley and Cora Dove Riley, her

Born at Senath, Mo., she had lived in Trumann since 1975 and was formerly of Michigan. She
was a homemaker and retired from United Platers Co. of Detroit. She was a member of
Providence Baptist Church at Trumann.
Survivors include a sister, Oma Lee White of Trumann; a brother, Jesse "Short"
Blansett of Caraway; three stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Gibson; a stepdaughter, Donna Sue

Isaiah Caleb Lighthart, infant son of James and Maranda Panhorst Lighthart of Paragould,
died Friday, March 11, 2005 at St. Bernard's Medical Center of Jonesboro.
He was born in Jonesboro.
Survivors in addition to his parents include two sisters, Dominique Lighthart and Madison
Lighthart, both of Paragould; his maternal grandparents, Charles Jr. and Roberta Panhorst
of Marmaduke; and his paternal grandparents, Daniel and Vickie Jones of Paragould and
Reynold and Georgia Lighthart of Phoenix.

A funeral service for Grace L. Browning will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2005 at

Mrs. Browning, 82, of Talent, died Thursday (March 10, 2005).
She was born on Oct. 24, 1922 in Paragould, Arkansas to John and Della (Jarvis) Farmer.
She had lived in the Rogue Valley most of her life. On March 31, 1940 in Harrison,
Arkansas she married Marvin W. Browning, who died March 5, 2005.
Mrs. Browning worked as a Librarian for Phoenix Library for approximately 20 years.
She loved to read and work crossword puzzles.
Survivors include her son, M. Ralph Browning of Jacksonville; a daughter Marilyn Hunt of
Phoenix; a brother, Johnny Farmer of Arkansas; three grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.

James Wesley "Sparky" Winn, 79, of Jonesboro died Monday, March 14, 2005 at St.
Bernard's Medical Center.
Born in Paragould, he had lived in Jonesboro for most of his life, had worked for Frolic
Footwear and was retired from Hytrol Conveyor. He was a member of Herman Baptist Church
and the men's Sunday school class.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Dean Winn of the home; a son, Jimmy Wayne Winn of
Jonesboro; two daughters, Laura Ann Pittman of Jonesboro and Nancy Gail Ford of Bono; and
four grandchildren, Betty Pittman, Christian Winn, Blake Pittman and Jacob Winn, all of
Jonesboro.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, with

Jerry Lee Ward, age 66, of Greers Ferry, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2005, in
Greers Ferry. Born in Lafe, Arkansas, on November 30, 1938, he was the son of Lillie
(Horton) Ward and the late Dan Ward.
Mr. Ward retired from General Motors in Flint, Michigan, after thirty years as a machine
operator. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served for eight years. He
had been a resident of Greers Ferry since 1995.
Survivors include: his wife, Lenora (Johnson) Ward of Greers Ferry; two sons, Van Ward of
Greers Ferry and Brad Ward of Springdale; three daughters, Lynette Buchanan of Ft. Worth,
Texas, Lori Cogburn of Greers Ferry, and Lana Parker of Cordova, Tennessee; his mother,
Lillie Ward of Caro, Michigan; two brothers, Kalyn Ward of Caro, Michigan, and Wayne Ward
of Winslow; two sisters, Sandy Fugazy of Harrison, New York, and Diana Ward of Hallandale,
Florida; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Monzell Clifton, 80, of Paragould, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at her home.
Mrs. Clifton was born in Peach Orchard, Arkansas, September 19, 1924. She was a retired
school teacher and a member of 7th and Mueller Church of Christ.
Survivors include one son, Donald R. Logsdon of Butler, Illinois; two brothers, W.C.
Taylor, Jr., of Walnut Ridge, R.V. Taylor of Paragould; and two sisters, Ruth Wooldridge
of Paragould, and Pauline Dearin of St. Louis, Missouri. She is also survived by three
grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Mrs. Clayton was preceded in death by her parents, W. Carroll and Pearl Taylor; her
first husband, Roy Logsdon; her second husband, Fermand Clifton; and by two sisters, Reba
Smith and Inez Denman.

Dellas Delbert "Bill" Dial, 83, of the Paragould (Finch Community) died
Wednesday, March 15, 2005 at Regional Medical Center of NEA in Jonesboro.
He was born the son of the late Earl and Cella Huffine Dial on April 8, 1921. He was a
retired farmer and custodian of Paragould Middle School. He attended the Liberty Church of
Christ.
He was also preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters and one son-in-law, Jeff
Cole.
Bill is survived by his wife, Almarie (Cox) Dial of Paragould; daughters and son-in-law,
Sherlene and Harold North and Becky Hall Cole all of Paragould; grandsons and

Born May 7, 1935, in Walcott, Mr. May retired as a maintenance supervisor at Emerson
Electric after 35 years with the company. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Frances May of Paragould; one daughter and son-in-law, Tina
and Rickie Forbs of Walcott; one half-sister, Lavadna Dick of Shelton, Washington; one
granddaughter, Misty Mitchem and husband, Robby. He is also survived by three great
grandchildren, Thax, Sierah and Piper.
Mr. May was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Daisy May; two brothers,
Weldon and Ray May and by two sisters, Bertina Short and Javene Justice.

Martha Sue Heath Smith, 67, of Centralia, Illinois died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at
St. Mary's Hospital of Centralia.
Born in Greene County, she was a 1955 graduate of Greene County Tech High School. She
lived in California before moving to Centralia in 1977. She was an administrative
assistant at Kaskaskia College.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Centralia and was a graduate of San Bernardino
College in California.
Survivors include her husband, E.E. "Smitty" Smith of the home; one daughter,
Stephany Smith-Pearson of Ashland, Ore.; two sons, Greg Smith of Tamaroa, Ill., and Bryan
Smith of Centralia; four sisters, Amy Carter and Linda Clark, both of Jonesboro, Betty
Mason of El Dorado and Janie Rogers of Malvern; three brothers, Willie Heath of Trumann,

Dale Carter, 58, of Paragould, died Monday, March 21, 2005, at his
residence.
Born April 4, 1946, in Hollywood, Missouri, Mr. Carter was an Army veteran of the Vietnam
War and an employee of O'Reilly Auto Parts.
Survivors include his wife, Jolene Carter of the home; his mother, Rachel Carter of
Paragould; one son, Brian Carter of Lexington, Tennessee; two stepsons, Jacob Moore and
Jason Moore, both of Paragould. He is also survived by one sister, Rita McKinney of
Paragould; and one grandson, Kristopher Carter.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Carter.

Kenneth H. Hatfield, 80, of Paragould, Arkansas died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at his
residence.
Born April 21, 1924, in Calamine, Arkansas, he was a retired machinist and dairyman. Mr.
Hatfield was a greeter, Sunday School teacher, usher, and a member of the church board at
the First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Jewell Hatfield of the home; three
daughters and two sons-in-law, Sandra Rowton of Rockford, Illinois, Linda and Robert Hause
of Paragould, and Debborah and Kurk Ayres of Avon, Illinois. He is also survived by three
brothers, Willis Hatfield of Batesville , Arkansas, Lee Hatfield of Searcy, and Robert
Hatfield of Kokomo, Indiana; one sister, Wilma Cole of Stuart, Florida; five
grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews.

Marian Elizabeth "Aunt Mena" Rankin Butler, 78, of Frankfort, Kentucky, died
Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at Frankfort.
Born in Tampa, Fla., she had lived most of her life in Jonesboro before moving to Kentucky
in 2004. She attended Jonesboro schools, where she was a member of the Glee Club, the
drill team and the National Honor Society. She was a graduate of then-Arkansas State
College, where she was a member of Alpha Tau Zeta sorority.
Her 49-year career included positions with the Air Force Depot in Memphis; Southwestern
Bell; Jonesboro School District, where she taught home economics; Community Methodist
Hospital at Paragould; the U.S. Department of Commerce; the Louis Harris and Associates
National Polling and Market Research firm; and the Arkansas Employment Security
Department. She retired in 1989 from the Arkansas Department of Human Resources as a
licensed social worker.
Survivors include a daughter, Gail Hiley of Frankfort; two brothers, Charles Rankin and
Tommy Rankin, both of Jonesboro; and a sister, Louise Mays of Memphis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Butler Jr. and her parents, Nathan Lewis
and Mary Gladys Davis Rankin.

Jimmy Fonzo Penny
Jimmy Fonzo Penny, 59, of Nashport, passed away at 3:57 p.m. on Tuesday March 22, 2005,
at Riverside Methodist Hospital following a sudden illness.
He was born on September 8, 1945 in Paragould, Arkansas, to the late Alfonzo and Manae
King Penny. He served our country and protected our freedom by serving in the U.S. Army
during Vietnam. He was employed by Kaiser Aluminum in Newark as an Aluminum Supervisor.
After retirement from Kaiser, he worked for Peciney Aluminum in Ravenswood, W. Va.
He is survived by his loving wife Angela McCarroll Penny of the home, two wonderful
daughters, Annette Penny-McConnelsville and Gabriella Brannan, North Lewisburg, Ohio; a
brother, Donald Penny, Paragould, Arkansas; a sister, Gaye Rice, Enterprise, Alabama;
three grandchildren, Aliyah Penny, Austin Penny, and Aiden Brannan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Penny.

Born in Greene County, she was a homemaker and former school teacher for Spring Grove. She
was a member of Brown's Chapel Baptist Church for more than 50 years and taught Sunday
school.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Oscar McDaniel; three sons, Eldon
McDaniel, Gerald McDaniel and Darrell McDaniel; her parents, Sam and Alice Cooper; a
sister; and five brothers.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Brown's Chapel Cemetery, with Royce Boling
officiating. Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 10-10:40 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Dallas Lee Davis
Dallas Lee Davis, 90, of Paragould died Saturday,
March 26, 2005, at Greene Acres Nursing Home.
Born at Paragould, he was a retired civil engineer for the Army Corps of Engineers at
Memphis. He served in World War II and the Korean War with the Army Air Corps and the Air
Force. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Paragould.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbye Davis of Paragould; one son, Dallas Lee Davis II of
Paragould; one daughter, Deann Coffman of Jonesboro; and four grandchildren, Paul Robert
Coffman, Chloe Coffman, Scarlett Davis and Jennifer Coffman Grady.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cloa B. Williams Davis and Lon Davis, and one
brother.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel,
with the Rev. Paul Brown officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the
funeral home.

Sylvia Mae Lovelady
Sylvia Mae Lovelady, 73, of Marmaduke died Sunday, March 27, 2005, at her residence.
Born at Paragould, she was a retired dietitian and attended of Newton Street Church of
Christ at Paragould.
Survivors include her husband William Marvin Lovelady of the home; two sons, William
Steven Lovelady of Flippin and Timothy Duane Lovelady of Kokomo, Ind.; one daughter,
Michelle Rene Sawyer of Paragould; one sister, Shirley Hyde Baldwin of Paragould; seven
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Willie Hyde; four brothers; and two
sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould,
with L.R. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Mitchell Baldwin, Leon Baldwin, Joe Sawyer, Gary Baldwin, Chris
Baldwin and Cletis Baldwin.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lynn Eldon Hall
Lynn Eldon Hall, 62, of Paragould died Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at Arkansas Methodist
Medical Center.
He was a maintenance superintendent at Darling Store Fixtures, a former assistant fire
chief and city council member at Oak Grove Heights and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Hall of Paragould; five sons, Lael Breckenridge and Troy
Breckenridge, both of Beech Grove, Kary Hall of St. Joe, Mich., Michael Hall of Coloma,
Mich., and Ricky Brown of Paragould; a daughter, Lorrie Rowlett of Paragould; three
sisters, Melba Little of Stevensville, Mich., Barbara Balkin of Coloma and Dorine Jackson
of Pleasant Plains; and 17 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home in
Paragould, with Richard Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial
Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Ron Coy, Blaine Nunn, Wayne Foshee, Eddie Brewer, Jeff
Harrelson and Ronnie Ryles.
Honorary pallbearers will include Gary Thompson, Albert Miller and Steve Dwiggins.

Charlene Slatton, 77, of Lonoke died Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at Baptist Medical Center in
Little Rock.
Born in Greene County, she had worked as a packer for Emblem Manufacturing Co. in St.
Louis and attended Cabot Church of Christ.
Survivors include a brother, Joe L. Webbe of Arnold, Mo.; a sister, Sadie Carolyn Hurn of
St. Peters, Mo.; three grandsons, Ross Henderson Blanford of Reno, Nev., Doug Blanford of
Bryant and Neil Blanford of Lonoke; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ross Blanford; her second husband, Neal
Slatton; two sons, Charles Blanford and Larry Blanford; her parents, Charles Raymond and
Lillie Mae Blair Webbe; and one brother.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel. Burial
will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery at Walcott.

Gearoldene Jessica Truett Kundert, 58, of Marmaduke died Wednesday, March 30, at Arkansas
Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.
Born in Perth Amboy, N.J., she was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, James Ralph Kundert of Marmaduke; five sons, James D.
Kundert of Searcy, Timothy R. Kundert of Hughes and Michael A. Kundert, Jason E. Kundert
and John S. Kundert, all of Paragould; a daughter, Christina M. Wilson of Paragould; a
brother, Charles E. Truett of Snellville, Ga.; a sister, Ella D. Jones of Rockport, Texas;
and 13 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Rebecca A. Kundert, and her parents.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev.
John Marconi officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery at Paragould under the
direction of Heath Funeral Home.

Marie Dehart Rowe
Marie Dehart Rowe, 92, of Paragould, died Thursday, March 31,
2005, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
Born at Beech Grove, she was retired from housekeeping at the West Valley Hospital in
Encino, California. She was a member of Mt. Home Church of Christ.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Elzie E. Rowe; parents, Henry and Claudia
Eubanks DeHart; brother, Cullen DeHart; sisters, Irene Moseley and Belva Morrow.
Survivors include sons, Harvey Rowe of Paragould and Alton Rowe and his wife Carol of
Apache Junction, Arizona; grandchildren, Michael Rowe of Port Oxford, Oregon, Barbara
Colton and her husband Doug of Sixes, Oregon, and Tony Rowe of Los Angeles, California.
Visitation tonight at Heath Funeral Home from 6-9 P.M. Services will be 1 P.M. Saturday at
the Heath Colonial Chapel with Emmett Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Home
Cemetery.
