Suedell Arrington Cobbs



Suedell Arrington Cobbs, 83, of Paragould died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born at Red Onion, she was a member of East Side Baptist Church and the Faith Sunday school class.

Survivors include her husband, Amos Norman Cobbs of Paragould; and one brother, Wilbur "Wick" Arrington of Alton, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lela Arrington, two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mitchell Funeral Home chapel of Paragould, with Dennis Scudder, Greg Addison and Wayne Brightwell officiating. Burial will follow in Woods Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bob Parks, Buford Adams, Joe Reese, Bob Morris and Harold Edwards.

Visitation will be from 6-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Eastside Baptist Church.

William Oliver Vance



William Oliver Vance, 62, of Paragould died Monday, March 3, 2003, at his residence. Born in Mississippi, he was retired from the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Vance of the home; a brother, David Vance of Campbell, Mo.; and a sister, Catherine Rushing of Goshen, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould, with Herbert Starr officiating. Burial will follow in Cardwell Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Dial, John Ballard, Burl Rogers, Jimmy Don Bruce, Bill Murray and Hoss Wallace.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Joshua Lee Grooms



Funeral services for Joshua Lee Grooms, 19, of Paragould, who died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at his residence, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Greater Vision Church in Paragould.

Rick Ethridge will officiate, and burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.

Pallbearers will be Chris Jones, Robert Smith, Dale Dalton, B.J. Gentry, Brandon Leonard and Justin Curtis.

He was born in Paragould.

Survivors include his parents, J.L. and Margaret Grooms of Paragould; a brother, Joseph Grooms of the home; two sisters, Shala Russell and Dana Grooms, both of Jonesboro; and his maternal grandparents, Preston and Lavinia Holt and Karen Ashman, all of Paragould.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jessie and Lena Grooms.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the church.

Albertine Luke



Albertine Luke, 82, of Paragould died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born in Light, she was a homemaker and a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond Luke of Paragould; two sons, Bobby Luke and Jim Luke, both of Paragould; two daughters, June Dillon of Cardwell, Mo., and Betty Dortch of Paragould; a brother, James Edward Boozer of Walnut Ridge; a sister, Willodean Pearce of Walcott; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ida Mae Boozer, three brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould, with Marion Gramling and Kevin Edgar officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Keith Franks, Cody Franks, Michael Luke, Shannon Luke, Ryan Beasley and Chris Kyle.

Lawrence Graham Pace



Lawrence Graham Pace, 84, of Paragould died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born in the Alexander community, he was retired from Tom Kirk Chevrolet. He was a member of the West View Baptist Church and was a former flyer with a private pilot's license.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes B. Pace of Paragould; one son, Larry Allen Pace of Paragould; one daughter, Lana Smoker of Paragould; one sister, Ruth McGinnis of Brownsville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Tiffany Amber Pace and Sara Elizabeth Smoker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Pearl Pace, one sister and one brother.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Mitchell Funeral Home chapel of Paragould, with Royce Boling officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Nick Watson, William Abbott, Richard Lueker, Jimmy Rousseau, Butch Rousseau and Wilford Horton.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Doyel Wayne Sarrels



Funeral services for Doyel Wayne Sarrels, 51, of Beech Grove, who died Friday, March 7, 2003, at St. Bernard's Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Beech Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Richard Williams officiating.

Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery.

Born in Manila, he was formerly of Leachville and a member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Deloris Presley Sarrels of the home; one son, Chris Sarrels of Light; one daughter, Karen Smith of Jonesboro; two brothers, Robert Sarrels of Blytheville and Johnny Sarrels of Baron Springs, Mich.; one sister, Mary Robinson of Leachville; and two grandchildren, Ashley Sarrels and Hunter Sarrels.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Sarrels and Izora McCloud Sarrels, and one grandson.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Beech Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Richard Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. today at the Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Frances Williams



Frances Williams, 92, of Springfield, formerly of Paragould, died Friday, March 7, 2003, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield.

Born in Greene County, she was a homemaker and a retired employee of McDonald Motors in St. Louis. She was a member of Second and Walnut Church of Christ.

Survivors include one daughter, Betty Eden of Springfield; two sisters, Emma Jean Cole of Paragould and Princess Doyle Riley of Clarkston, Mich.; two grandchildren, Craig Eden of Springfield and Teresa Zebell of Chino Valley, Ariz.; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lehman Williams; her parents, Evan and Annie White Songer; two brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services are set for Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould, with James A. Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Sybil alleen Harpole



Funeral services for Sybil Alleen Harpole, 82, of Delaplaine, who died Monday, March 10, 2003, at her residence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Delaplaine Baptist Church.

David Stallings and Bob Ivy will officiate, and burial will follow in Jones Ridge Cemetery at Delaplaine under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.

Born in Peach Orchard, she was a retired schoolteacher and beautician and a member of Delaplaine Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Joan McClellan and Leta Jane Burgess, both of Delaplaine; two brothers, John Martin of Murphy, Idaho, and Earl Martin of Royal; two sisters, Frances Virginia Nichols of Rockford, Ill., and Margaret Marie McComas of Ash Flat; seven grandchildren, Don McClellan of Louisville, Ky., Leta Taylor and Shawn Burgess, both of Delaplaine, Gary Wayne Harpole of Jonesboro, Amy Burgess of Little Rock and Denise Griffin and Jamie Harpole, both of Memphis; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruel Harpole; her parents, Hudson and Melissa Martin; a son, Gary Harpole; two sisters; and a brother.

Virgil D. Hill



Virgil D. Hill, 75, of Paragould died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born in Mansfield, he was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include two sisters, Leola Konocek and Lois Reynolds, both of Paragould.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ethel Ridgeway Hill.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with the Rev. Terry Songer officiating. Heath Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of arrangements.

Roberta Newberry Breckenridge



Graveside services for Roberta Newberry Breckenridge, 98, of Paragould, who died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Linwood Cemetery, with Earl McKelvey officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.

Born in Crockett County, Tenn., she was a former employee of Ben Franklin Co. and was a Protestant.

Survivors include one son, Bob Newberry of Paragould; one sister, Pauline Beadles of Paragould; one grandson, Tom Newberry of Paragould; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Willie Riggsby; her first husband, Roy Newberry; her second husband, Willie Breckenridge; and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 9-10:15 a.m. today at the funeral home.

Arthur Henry Freytag



Graveside services for Arthur Henry Freytag, 76, of Paragould, who died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at his residence, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Shiloh Cemetery, with Rex Bouldin officiating. Heath Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of arrangements.

Born in St. Louis, he received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Arizona and a master's degree from Texas Tech University. He was a research biologist, who was awarded 10 different patents related to his research in plant growth.

Survivors include two sons, Rodney Arthur Freytag and Daniel Arthur Freytag, both of Paragould; two daughters, Tanya Lynn Freytag of Paragould and Marcella Solometo of North Platte, Neb.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rozalee Peggy Freytag; one son, David Freytag; and his parents, Arthur L. and Theola Padget Freytag.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Gertie Mae Crouch



Gertie Mae Crouch, 97, of Peach Orchard died Saturday, March 15, 2003, at Pocahontas Nursing and Rehab. Born in Texas, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include one son, John David Crouch of Mountain View; one daughter, Cathern Eubanks of Peach Orchard; six gradchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John David Crouch; and her parents, James Franklin Whitworth and Hester Ann Tomas Crouch.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas, with Robert Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Born in Hornersville, Mo., he was former owner of Langston's Grocery and a used car dealer. He was of the Baptist belief.

Langston of Arbyrd, Mo.; one brother, Kenneth Langston of Elsberry, Mo.; two sisters, Lovie Clark of St. Joseph, Mich., and Gertrude Barr of Rockford, Ill.; two grandchildren, Tonya Galyean and Kelli Wilson; and three great-grandchildren.

Thomas Wayne Hyde, 46, of Paragould died Monday, March 17, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Survivors include his mother, Illa Faye Hyde of Paragould; one brother, Clifford E. Hyde of Paragould; and two sisters, Sheila F. Gibson and Lisa Mae Smith, both of Paragould.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Hyde, and his grandparents.

Reba Maxine Thomas, 72, of Paragould died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Born in Paragould, she was a homemaker and was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include her husband, Jay Thomas of the home; three sons, Mike Thomas of Palmdale, Calif., Bob Thomas of Port Hueneme, Calif., and Steve Thomas of St. Louis; a daughter, Cheryl Bryan of Paragould; two sisters, Shirley Bunyard of Overland, Mo., and Kaytee Rathert of Barnhart, Mo.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rob and Jessie Blackburn and two children, James Thomas Jr. and Diana Thomas McGrath.

Edith Pauline Evans, 88, of Rector died Monday, March 17, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born in Greene County, she was a homemaker, a lifelong resident of Rector and a member of Alexander Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Evans of Paragould and Arnold Evans of Attica, Mich.; five grandchildren, Patricia Newman of Dyersburg, Tenn., Keith Evans of Paragould, Melanie Evans of Memphis, Terry Evans of Oswego, N.Y., and Sherry Bernor of Columbiaville, Mich.; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard "Boots" Evans; her parents, Charlie and Emma Beaton Williams; eight brothers; and one sister.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Irby Funeral Home chapel in Marmaduke. Burial will follow at New Liberty Cemetery near Marmaduke.

Pallbearers will be Cary Williams, Pete Williams, Gary Williams, Randal Williams, Phillip Williams, Earl Wayne Williams, D.C. Ogden, Rex Thomas and Bill Beagle.

Born at Brookland, he was a self-employed painter and was of the Pentecostal belief.

Graveside services for Wanda L. Walker, 65, of Paragould, who died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at her home, will be today at 10 a.m. in Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Billy Joe Dowdy will officiate.

Dr. Marvin "Wayne" Gould



Dr. Marvin "Wayne" Gould, 66, of Marmaduke died Friday, March 21, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

Born in Rector, he was a minister, taught for 37 years, former principal of Marmaduke School, superintendent of Greenway School, high school principal of Delaplaine, college professor in Kingsville, Texas, and a Southeast Missouri State University professor for 12 years. He was of the Methodist belief.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Gould of Marmaduke; two daughters, Sherrie Gould of Marmaduke and Angie Batchelor of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; one brother, George Stroud of Bartlesville, Okla.; three sisters, Joy Gregory of Paragould, Elva Janes of Memphis and Donna Shatley of Marmaduke; and two grandchildren, Alex Gould of Marmaduke and Jackson Batchelor of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Stroud, a brother and a sister.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mitchell Funeral Home chapel in Rector, with the Rev. Everett Isom and Rex Darling officiating. Burial will follow in Ramers Chapel near Rector.

Hulen Lewis Douglas



Hulen Lewis Douglas, 69, of Paragould died Saturday, March 22, 2003, at his residence. He was born in Greene County.

Survivors include one son, Tracy Douglas of Brookland; one stepson, Paul Wheeler of Paragould; two daughters, Felecia Brown and Angela Garner, both of Paragould; one stepdaughter, Paula Phillips of Jonesboro; two sisters, Vonda Douglas and Drucilla Wheeler, both of Paragould; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Douglas and Virgie Vowell.

Brenda Ann Vickers



Brenda Ann Vickers, 39, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at her residence.

She was born at Paragould and formerly lived in the Dixie community. She lived at Jonesboro for 21 years. She worked 17 years at St. Bernard's Medical Center and was a former snack bar manager at Jonesboro Bowling Center. She was Methodist.

Survivors include her husband, Terry Vickers of the home; one son, Tim Vickers of Jonesboro; one stepson, Gary Vickers of Brookland; two stepdaughters, Cathy Torres of Jonesboro and Karen Thompson of Brookland; one sister, Bernice Bishop of Brookland; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Richard and Bessie Maxine Turner.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Chuck Coffelt and Bonnie Sutton officiating.

Carlos Manuel Knuckles



Carlos Manuel Knuckles, 50, of Paragould died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. He was born in Beech Grove.

Survivors include four brothers, Cecil Knuckles and Harvey Knuckles, both of Paragould, Dolen Knuckles of Manila and Luther Ray Knuckles of Sulphur, Okla.; and seven sisters, Alma Hill of Bono, Deloris Howell of Corning, Lorene Smith of Portia, Margaret Swindle of Paragould, Willidean Cope of Juanita, Fla., Helen Crafton of Porum, Okla., and JoAnn House of Flat River, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Daniel and Ruth Eva Like Knuckles, and one brother.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Providence Cemetery at Lafe, with the Rev. Earl McKelvey officiating. Heath Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of arrangements.

William Clifton "Bill" Stewart



Funeral services for William Clifton "Bill" Stewart, 71, who died Saturday, March 22, 2003, at St. Bernard's Medical Center, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mitchell Funeral Home chapel in Paragould.

Mark Smith will officiate, and burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Steve Jackson, Charles Woodson, Al Barnett, Rick Mann, Danny Sanders and Ken Curtwright.

Honorary pallbearers will include Jason Clark, Sam Jackson and Cameron Tate.

Born in Cardwell, Mo., he had lived in Paragould since 1960. He retired after 40 years from Horner Motor Company and was an Army veteran. He was a member of First Assembly of God and a past-president and former member of the Lion's Club.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Dement Stewart of the home; two sons, Boyce Stewart of Gomez Palacio, Mexico, and John Stewart of Paragould; one daughter, Lola Jackson of Paragould; one brother, Grover Stewart of Cardwell; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Edgar and Rita Dar Thula Farmer Stewart; five brothers; and one sister.

Owen Dudley Jackson



Owen Dudley Jackson, 86, of Scott City died Monday, March 24, 2003, at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born in Lafe, he was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War and retired as a forklift operator from Chrome Craft Manufacturing in St. Louis. He had lived in Granite City, Ill., for 30 years and was a member of New Testament Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Jackson of Scott City; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hattie Mae Puckett Jackson; a son, Joey Michael Jackson; and his parents, John Harvey and Belle Black Jackson.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Heath Funeral Home Colonial Chapel in Paragould, with the Rev. Delmar Shirley officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery at Lafe.

Denise Keeling, 49, of Paragould died Sunday, March 23, 2003, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born in Searcy, she was an employee of L.A. Darling and attended the Lake Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne Keeling of Paragould; her father, H.F. Harvey of Beebe; two daughters, Melissa Williams of Senath, Mo., and Lisa Anderson of Paragould; one stepdaughter, Brandi Keeling of Jonesboro; two brothers, William Harvey of Jacksonville and Steve Harvey of Jonesboro; one sister, Lisa Holmes of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Bernice Harvey.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mitchell Funeral Home chapel in Paragould. Wayne Faulkner and Rick Ethridge will officiate, and burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Justin Williams, Matt Williams, Keith Brewer, John Thacker, Al Keeling and Bobby Keeling.

Honorary pallbearers will include James Beaton and David Freeman.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

James Earl Wilson



Funeral services for James Earl "Jim" Wilson, 62, of Paragould, who died Monday, March 24, 2003, at his residence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Heath Funeral Home Colonial Chapel.

The Rev. Jim Fowler will officiate, and burial will follow in Woodland Heights Cemetery at Rector.

Active pallbearers will be Leland Blackshare, Leland Stanfill, Jerry Yates, Raymond Huffman, Mark Shelton and Collis Archer.

Honorary pallbearers will include Jerry Tabor, Chick DeHart and Hootsie McDonald.

Born in Rector, he was retired from Emerson Electric Co. in Paragould and was a member of East Side Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Jerry Wilson, Jimmy Wilson and Phil Wilson, all of Paragould; two daughters, Misty Archer of Paragould and Angie Wilson of Midland, Texas; his mother, Moneda Toombs Wilson of Paragould; a sister, Linda Clark of Paragould; and five grandchildren, Anna Wilson, Matt Wilson, Taylor Wilson, Emily Wilson and Allie Wilson, all of Paragould.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ira Wilson.

Visitation will be from 6:30-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ola Blondale Anderson



Funeral services for Ola Blondale Anderson, 86, of Paragould, who died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, will be at 1 p.m. today at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel in Paragould, with the Rev. Bob Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery at Paragould.

Survivors include three sons, Ronnie Stevens and Garry Anderson, both of Paragould, and Darrell Stevens of Trenton, Tenn.; two daughters, Deanna Stevens Lee of Paragould and Patricia Stevens Latham of Morehead City, N.C.; one brother, Paul Allen of Paragould; and one sister, Ima Bonds of Cullman, Ala.; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be to Third Avenue Baptist Church in Paragould.

Andrew Wayne Mitchell



Andrew Wayne Mitchell, 13, of Paragould died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, in Paragould.

A native of Paragould, he was a student at Stonecrest Christian Academy, a member of the Paragould Youth Baseball Babe Ruth League, a pitcher, center fielder and first baseman for past the two years of Arkansas Lasers traveling team. He was a draftee this season for Emerson Electric and was named Most Valuable player of Cal Ripkin District Tournament in 2002. Mitchell was a player for Marmaduke Yard Dogs and Action One Realty and was a member of Paragould Church of God.

Survivors include his parents, Dale and Rebecca Mitchell of the home; one sister, Teddie Brooke Mitchell of the home; maternal grandparents, Wayne and Ella Wilkins of Paragould; paternal grandmother, Frances Mitchell of Marmaduke; maternal great-grandmother, Veona Stone of Paragould; and paternal great-grandfather, Clifford Barnhart of Marmaduke.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ted Mitchell.

Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday with the Revs. David Stone and Thom Cody officiating. The location of the funeral will be announced by Heath Funeral Home of Paragould.

Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens at Paragould.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Amon Hunt



Funeral services for Amon Hunt, 91, of Paragould, who died Thursday, March 27, 2003, in the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, will be at 10 a.m. today in the Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel in Paragould, with Larry McFadden and Tommy Arnold officiating.

Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery at Walcott.

Pallbearers will be Alvin Arnold, Tommy Arnold, Russell Hunt, Russell Hunt Jr., Robert May and Jason Mears.

Nathan Moyers will be an honorary pallbearer.

Hunt was born in Walcott and was retired from the Jonesboro Grocery Company. He was a member of the Seventh and Mueller Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Futrell Hunt of Paragould and Kenny Paul Hunt of St. Louis; one daughter, Mary Sue Moyers of Jefferson City, Mo.; one brother, Charles Laverne Hunt of Nashville, Tenn.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Clements Hunt, his parents, Charles and Stella Williams Hunt; four brothers; and two sisters.

Memorials may be made to the Compassion Outreach and the Seventh and Mueller Church of Christ.

Frances Imogene Rogers Green



Frances Imogene Rogers Green, 77, of Rector died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett, Mo.

Born in Dyersburg, Tenn., she was a homemaker and a member of Rector Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include seven sons, Tom Ray Green of Canton, Ala., Bill Green of Rockford, Ill., Buddy Green and Phillip Green, both of Rector, Joe Green of O'Fallon, Mo., Robert Green of Kennett, Mo., and Amos Green of Malden, Mo.; two daughters, Pat Holt of Paragould and Libby Owens of East Moline, Ill.; one brother, Preston Rogers of Caruthersville, Mo.; two sisters, Rachel Barner of Lafe and Emma Newton of Caruthersville; 29 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mabern T. Green, and her parents, Montie and Bessie Hicks Rogers.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Irby Funeral Home of Rector. Burial will follow in Harvey's Chapel Cemetery near Marmaduke.

Pallbearers will be Brad Green, Jeremy Green, Shane Green, Nicholas Green, Luke Green, Mark Green, Brain Carr, Derek Green, Brandon Green and Jason Green.

Clara Irene Parsons

 

Clara Irene Parsons, 96, of Paragould died Friday, March 28, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Born in Craighead County, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include one son, Joe Parsons of Paragould; three sisters, Claudy Reed of Paragould, Ernestine McDonald of Little Rock and Maudell Higgins of Kerman, Calif.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould, with Terry Songer officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from noon until service time today.

Roger Dale Skinner



Roger Dale Skinner, 56, of Paragould died Friday, March 28, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. He was a farm worker, an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Shawn Skinner of Caraway and Jeffery Skinner of Blytheville; three daughters, Theresa Skinner of Alabama, Gena Mullins of Monette and Jamie Skinner of Blytheville; his mother, Evelyn Osborn of Concord; three half brothers, Gene Osborn, Dickey Osborn and Joshua Osborn, all of Concord; two half sisters, Sue Mason of Floral and Rhonda Brehs of Concord; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Carl Osborn, and one sister.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in New Liberty Cemetery, with Larry McFadden officiating. Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-1:15 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Glen Joe Baty III



Glen Joe Baty III, the infant son of Glen Joe Baty Jr. and Katy Lee Baty of Paragould, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Survivors in addition to his parents include his paternal grandfather, Glen Baty of Valdez, Alaska; his paternal grandmother, Nellie Boozer of Paragould; his paternal stepgrandfather, Leonard Boozer of Paragould; his maternal grandparents, James Weldon and Veda Richardson, both of Paragould; his maternal stepgrandfather, Larry McCurley of Paragould; his maternal great-grandmothers, Exie Richardson of Knobel and Katherine Cray of Paragould.

He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandparents, Roy B. and Georgia Isom and Glen and Millie Baty; and maternal great-grandfathers, Gerald Cray and James Richardson.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Gainesville Cemetery, with the Rev. Benny Isom officiating. Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of arrangements.

John Thomas Neely



Funeral services for John Thomas Neely, 85, of Paragould, who died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.

Larry McFadden will officiate, and burial will follow in Center Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be John Spencer, Tom Spencer, Dale Westbrook, John Neely, Brian Presnell and Arthur Rebmann.

Born in Dublin, Miss., he was a World War II Army veteran, was retired from Chicago Northwest Railroad and was of the Church of Christ belief.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Neely of Paragould; a son, John Neely of Chicago; two daughters, Donna Rebmann of Paragould and Linda Kay Presnell of Berwyn, Ill.; two brothers, Willie G. Neely of West Helena and James C. Neely of Overland, Mo.; a sister, Billie Mae Fletcher of New Philadelphia, Ohio; four grandchildren, John Robert Neely, Shannon Neely, Brian Christopher Presnell and Arthur John Rebmann; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Hurshel Calvin Edwards



Graveside services for Hurshel Calvin Edwards, 87, of Yuma, Arizona,  formerly of Paragould, who died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Yuma Regional Medical Center, have been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday at Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Dennis Scudder will officiate, and Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of arrangements

Pallbearers will be Joe Hamilton, David Sloan, Wesley Sloan, Kevin Hazelwood, Troy Barlow and Barry Hazelwood.

Born in Paragould, he was a retired government employee and was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Hazelwood Edwards of the home; and one sister, Virginia Swafford of Paragould.

Visitation will be from 9-10:15 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

 


Jackie Lee Russell

Jackie Lee Russell, 56, of Maud, Okla., died Monday, March 31, 2003, in Seminole, Okla.
He was born April 24, 1946, in Hoxie. He lived in the Jonesboro area most of his life, before moving to Oklahoma nine years ago. He was a member of New Life Church in Maud, Okla.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Russell of the home; three sons, Everett L. Russell, Richard W. Russell and Vernon W. Russell, all of Jonesboro; two stepsons, Wayne Baize of Milifay, Okla., and Quinton Biaze of Delcity, Okla.; one daughter, Sherry A. Campbell of 
Jonesboro; two brothers, Ronnie Russell of Paragould and Gary Russell of Jonesboro; two sisters, Sue Nance and Debbra Dill, both of Jonesboro; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. 

A graveside service was held Thursday at Pine Log Cemetery with Terry Gage officiating. 
Pallbearers were Ronnie Russell, Everett Russell, Kevin Russell, Jerry Dill Jr., Billy Dill and Nathan Elord.

Willine Rodden Anders

Willine Rodden Anders, 70, of Marmaduke, died March 31, 2003. She was born November 30, 1932 to the late William and Verneal Kesler Shook. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

She is survived by four sons, Dan Rodden, Mickey Rodden, and Bill Strange, all of Rockford, IL, and Bob Rodden of Iowa; two daughters, JoAnn Traywick of Marmaduke and Patty Rodden of Paragould; three brothers, Winfred Johnson and Gaylon Shook of St. Louis, and Landis Shook of Memphis; two sisters, Georgia Anne Kesler of Paragould, and Mary Perkins of Knobel; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Finnice Rodden and Vernon Anders; a son, Kenny Rodden; a brother, Farrell Johnson; and a grandchild.
Burial was at Bond Cemetery in Knobel with arrangements by Irby Funeral Home.
