Hershel Ray Mikel


 

Hershel Ray Mikel, 80, of Paragould, died Friday, June 1, 2012, at his home. He was born July 12, 1931 in Stanford, Arkansas the son of the late Luther and Eula Garner Mikel. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Russell Mikel.
He was retired from General Motors, was a member of Brown's Chapel Baptist Church and was an Army veteran.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law: Paige and Tim Calver; grandchildren: Tyler and Trevor Calver; brother and sister-in-law: Radus and Shirley Mikel; sister: Argentine Stearns, all of Paragould; nephews and nieces: Keith and Paula Mikel, Craig Mikel, Cory Mikel, Brenna Holland, and Shane Mikel.

The family will receive friends Monday, June 4th, 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Heath Funeral Home. His life will be celebrated Monday, at Heath Colonial Chapel, 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Everett Isom officiating.
Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Tim Calver, Tyler Calver, Trevor Calver, Cory Mikel, Shane Mikel, Craig Mikel, and Keith Mikel.

Dessie Carroll


November 23, 1917 - June 1, 2012

 


Dessie Carroll, 94, of Paragould, died Friday at Greene Acres Nursing Home. She was a retired sales clerk and a member of the Second and Walnut Church of Christ.

She is survived by one brother, Doyles Dotson of Florida; six grandchildren, Lisa Mallory, Steve McKinnis, Daniel McKinnis, Michael McKinnis, Jennifer McKinnis, and Shannon McKinnis, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her only son, Ernest McKinnis; one grandson, Patrick McKinnis; one brother, Vernon Dotson; a twin sister, Essie Austin, and her parents, Ernest and Elizabeth Dotson.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 4th, 10:30 a.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Paul Miller officiating. Burial will be in Bond Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday morning 9:30 until service time.

Ruby Clark

 


Ruby Clark, 103, of Paragould, died June 1, 2012 at Greene Acres Nursing Home. Born December 25, 1908 in Greene County, she was a homemaker and a member of Warren’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by four sons, Randal Clark of Marmaduke, and Bobby Clark, Sr., Stanley Clark, and Donald Clark, all of Paragould; two daughters, Shirley Lang, and Frances Rogers, both of Paragould; one sister, Norma Carr of Paragould, and by 24 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and 17 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Clark; her parents, Joe and Mae Cline; three sons, Aaron Clark, Sr., Isaiah Clark, and an infant son; four brothers, Vincent, Luther, Lindley, and Muriel, and by two sisters, Iva Buchannan, and Alma Puckett.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 4th, 1:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Jarrid McGrew officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Sunday evening, 6:00 until 9:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Greene Acres Nursing Home or Warren’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

Rachel Conway
 



In loving memory of Mrs. Rachel Elizabeth Conway, 59, of Marmaduke, who departed this world Saturday, June 2, 2012 surrounded by her loving family at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, AR. Mrs. Conway was born in Carthage, MS., March 7, 1953. She was a homemaker, she enjoyed the great outdoors and family get-togethers, she was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness.

She is survived by her husband Jessie Mack Conway of the home; five sons William Kenneth Donald of Corning, Michael Conway of Peach Orchard, Jessie Conway of Augusta, Wayne Conway of Marmaduke, Oather Conway of Peach Orchard; five daughters Julie Earls of Paragould, Judy Jackson of Marmaduke, Debbie Mooneyhan of Corning, Maxine Behlke of Anchorage, AK., Marcella Waltmon of Delaplaine; two brothers Ira Wayne Shaw and William Shaw, two sisters Sarah Perkins and Linda Perkins; forty one grandchildren and thirty seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents Street and Mary (Perkins) Shaw; and brother David Shaw.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 5th, 11:00 a.m. in the Hosea Cemetery near Knobel. AR. Visitation will be Monday evening, June 4th, 6:00 until 8:00 in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel.

Dorothy Ree May
 


Dorothy Ree May, 91, of Romance, AR, formerly of Paragould, died Saturday, June 2, 2012, at White County Medical Center in Searcy. Dorothy was born December 19, 1920, in Hunter, Arkansas the daughter of the late W.C. and Louella Chadwick Foster. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Andrew May, brother, William S. "Bill" Foster and sister, Anne Mae Foster. She was a homemaker and a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her son: Jerry Wayne May of Jonesboro; daughter and son-in-law: Judy Vestle and Cleveland Noble; grandchildren: Tina Gail and Stephen Harris, Charles H. May; great grandchild: Matthew Harris; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law: John R. and Edna May.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Her life will be celebrated Thursday, June 7th, 1:00 p.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Michael Sutton officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery.

Michelle Elmore

 


Wanda “Michelle” Elmore, 48, of Paragould, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

She was born June 10, 1963 in New Jersey. Michelle graduated from Senath Hornersville High School and attended Cotton Boll Vo-Tech to study business. She enjoyed traveling and experiencing new adventures.

She is survived by her father, Watson “Pete” Sailors of Blytheville; one daughter, Erica (Frankie) Norton of the home; one brother, David Sailors of St. Louis; four sisters, Regina Houseman-Lodrigue of Cardwell, Tina Murray of Plano, Texas, Annette (Joe) Ross of Florence, South Carolina, and Lynn Sailors of Blytheville; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Sailors.

Graveside service will be Wednesday, June 6th, 2:00 p.m. at Linwood Cemetery with Bud Evans officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday prior to services from 12:00 noon until1:45 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home.

Tena Marie McMains



Tena Marie Turner McMains, 53, passed away June 2, 2012, in Kingman, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph McMains; and brothers, Wilbur Craig and Thomas and wife Annabelle Turner.

She is survived by her daughter, Marie McMains; son, Adam McMains; brothers, Tom and Randy Turner; and sisters, Pat Turner and Ruby McClure.

A memorial service will be Saturday, July 14th, 10:00 a.m. at Pine Knot Church with burial in Pine Knot Cemetery.

Anthony Keith Boyd

 


Anthony Keith Boyd, 51, Paragould, died Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. He was born April 24, 1961 in Paragould. He is preceded in death by his father, Marion Joe Boyd, brother, Freddy Joe Boyd, grandparents, Fred Nolen and Olen and Reba Boyd.

Survivors include his mother, Patsy Jones, of the home; stepfather: Dewayne Jones; sisters: Lisa Boyd; brothers: Stanley Boyd, Wade Boyd; grandmother: Lucille Nolen; cousin: Mistie Blanton, all of Paragould; special niece: Vickie Powers of Delaplaine and several other nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. His life will be celebrated Wednesday, June 6th, 1:30 p.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Marcella Wells Gray
 



Marcella Wells Gray, 86, of Williamston, Michigan formerly of Jonesboro died Sunday June 3, 2012.

Marcella was born July 28, 1925 to the late Marley and Tera Taylor Arnold in Delaplaine, AR.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, LaVern (Jake) Arnold of Midland, TX, three sisters, Betty Balteria, Doris Hyde, and Geniese Carney all of Flint, MI, and first husband, Charles L. Wells of Jonesboro.

She leaves behind her husband, Edward Gray of Mason MI; three daughters, Phyllis Dover of Spring Hill, TN, Susan Wells of Branson, MO, and Connie Blancaflor of Hot Springs; a step son John Gray of Mason, MI, and step daughter Clara Keeler of Holt, MI; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; a brother, Larry Arnold of San Jose, CA; three sisters, Barbara Collins of Hardy, Dorothy Moore of Jonesboro, and Sue Minton of Ft. Worth, TX; and a host of Family and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday evening 6:00 until 8:00 at Emerson Funeral Home.

Graveside Services will be Friday morning, June 8th, 10:00 a.m. in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Jimmy Adcox officiating. Emerson Funeral is in charge of all arrangements.

Betty Lou Moslander
 


Betty Lou Moslander, 77 of Paragould passed away Monday, June 4, 2012 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She was born February 15, 1935 in Trumann, Arkansas to the late Loy and Delphia (Maybry) Downs. Mrs. Moslander loved sewing and was of the Baptist faith.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, John Moslander; one brother, Aubry Downs; 2 children, Vickie and Katrina Moslander.

Survivors include four children, Tamrea Metz , Kevin and John Moslander, all of Paragould, Teresa Lewis of Natchitoches, LA.; one brother, J.A. Downs of Paragould; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, June 6th, 10:00 a.m. at Pine Log Cemetery.

Mrs. Letha Jane Veach
 


Letha Jane Veach, age 105, of Corning, former longtime Manila resident and widow of Mr. Roy Veach, passed from this life Monday June 4, 2012 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. Born January 23, 1907 in Manila, AR., she was the daughter of the late David & Ollie Moore Rice.
As a young girl she and her family traveled by covered wagon to Oklahoma to find work. She returned to Manila at the age of 18 and soon married Roy Veach. She and her husband Roy established nursing homes in Manila, Blytheville & Corning. She was also instrumental in organizing the First Missionary Baptist Church in Mississippi County. Mrs. Veach was very active in local Home Demonstration Clubs and was a longtime member of the Eastern Star, holding dual memberships in Blytheville and Corning. She had lived in Corning for the past 25 years and was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one son, Jimmy Veach and his wife Janie of Manila, AR., one daughter, Rayo Edwards of Corning, AR, eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 7th,11:00 a.m. at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. James Keel and Rev. Sonny Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors Wednesday evening 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.
Grandsons will serve as active and honorary pallbearers.

Donald Jamison Tyner
 



Donald Jamison Tyner, 85, of Paragould, passed peacefully from this life on June 6, 2012, surrounded by his family at his home. Donald was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was born on April 21, 1927, and lived in Paragould until he was 6 years old, when his family moved to Lansing, Michigan. When Donald retired from his construction business in 1977, he returned to live in Paragould. He worked as a used car dealer for many years, owned the snack bar at the local bowling alley, and worked at Riggs Wholesale until they closed. He is a member of Southside Community Church. Donald was an outgoing man with a passion for his family, people and life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Orine Tyner of Paragould.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Wanda, his only sister Jean Crambell and husband , Robert of Kalkaska, MI; five children: David Tyner (Mary Maynard), Stephen Tyner (Julie), Jeffrey Tyner (wife Becky), all of Paragould; Andrea Hicks (Allan), Lisa Trotter (husband Terry) both of Jonesboro; eighteen grandchildren: Sasha Rousey (husband Chris) of Bentonville, AR, Kelsey Terpstra (husband Keith) of Montague, AZ, Jason Tyner (wife Whitney) of Howell, MI, Todd Tyner (wife Daris) of Phoenix, AZ, Jennifer Hicks of Cabot, AR, Chris Hicks (wife Allison), Michael Tyner (wife Victoria), both of Brookland, AR, Melissa Tyner of Grand Prarie, TX, Casandra Tyner, Brian Hicks (wife Autumn) both of Paragould, Drake Newsom (wife Andrea) of Seattle, WA, Whitney James of Little Rock, AR, Cassie Boone (husband Gary) of Croton, MI, Tony Trotter, Phillip Trotter (wife Ciarra), Tara Joplin (husband Matt), Bradley Hicks (wife Candalee), and Morgan James, all of Jonesboro; and thirty great grandchildren.

A celebration of Donald's life will be held at Southside Community Church in Paragould Thursday, June 8th, 2:00 p.m. with a memorial service officiated by Pastor Pat Graham. Friends and family are welcome to gather afterwards for fellowship in the church's auditorium.

Donna Lorene Cobb
 


Donna Lorene Cobb was born November 10, 1949, in Paragould. She passed away June 6, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center at the age of 62.
She was preceded in death by her parents E.H. and Tinnie Cobb; sister Nancy Masterson and a nephew, Tim Woodhouse. Donna lived in the Dixie community until moving to Paragould in 1991. Donna loved balls. She kicked, threw and just carried them around. She also loved going to church at Browns Chapel and shaking hands with everyone.
Donna is survived by two brothers, Hulen (Judy) Cobb of Paragould and Tony Cobb of Dixie; sisters Mary Jackson, Lou (Leroy) Woodhouse , Janetta Cobb all of Paragould, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends and relatives.

Visitation will be Friday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday morning, June 9th. 10:00 a.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with Rev. Royce Boling officiating. Burial will follow in the Monette Cemetery.

Marty Philip Brewer
 


Marty Philip Brewer, age 35 of Paragould, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. Born October 12, 1976 in Paragould, he was the son of Dan Ray and Pansy Owens Brewer, Sr. and had been a longtime area resident.
Mr. Brewer graduated from Greene County Tech in 1995 and was attending Black River Technical College for a degree in computer information systems. Mr. Brewer worked for ARI in Marmaduke for many years and attended the Christian Life Center in Brookland, Arkansas. He was a very gifted young man who enjoyed hunting, fishing and making model cars.

He is survived by his mother and father: Dan and Pam Owens Brewer, Sr. of the home; two sons: Kolton and Kyle Brewer of the home; one brother: Rev. Dan Brewer, Jr. of Paragould; two sisters; Sherry Trayler and husband Rev. Scott of Paragould and Kimberly Morgan and husband John of Paragould; his maternal grandmother: Lonie Owens of Paragould; two nephews: Lane Brewer of Paragould and Josh Morgan of Foxworth, Mississippi; one niece Olivia Grace Morgan of Paragould, and a host of other family and friends.

Mr. Brewer was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Mr. Wilson Owens and his paternal grandparents: Fred and Bernice Brewer.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 9th, 10:00 a.m. at the Christian Life Center in Brookland with Rev. Scott Trayler and Rev. Rick Ethridge officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Log Cemetery under the direction of Faith Funeral Service of Manila, Arkansas.
The family will receive visitors Friday evening, June 8th, 6:00 until 8:00 at the church.

Bryan Howard Lane
 


Bryan Howard Lane, son of Joe Howard and Linda Faye Petty Lane, was born June 21, 1967, in Paragould, he departed this life Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at the age of 44 years, 11 months and 16 days.

Bryan married Michelle Kelley on June 30, 1995.

Survivors include his wife, Michelle Lane of Kennett, Mo.; a son, Jordan Bryan Lane and daughter, Rachel Bryanne Lane, both of Kennett; parents, Joe and Linda Lane of Senath, Mo.; grandparents, Vaughn and Helen Petty of Senath; a brother, Dr. Brandon Lane and wife Hope of Hornersville, Mo.; a sister, Cindy Annette White and husband Mike of Goodlettsville, Tenn., six nieces and nephews, Corey and Cameron White, Addie, Brennan, Lacey and Ty Lane; in-laws, Larry and Linda Kelley of Kennett; and other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers will be Mark Ellis, Jeff Brock, Mark Smith, Rick Jones, Matt Cunningham and Brad Carter.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 9th, 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Kennett with the Revs. Ed Jansson and Dale Rickman officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.

Lalia Selene Futrell
 



Lalia Selene Futrell, 99, of Pocahontas passed away Thursday, June 07, 2012 at Five Rivers Medical Center.

Born April 08, 1913 in Arkansas to the late Pascal and Aline Crawford.

She is also preceded in death by her husband Marion Futrell, son Phil Futrell, one great grandchild, three brothers, and one sister.

Survivors include her son Byron and wife Frances Futrell, daughter-in-law, Gwen Futrell, eight grandchildren; Terri Walton, David Futrell, Mark Futrell, Eric Futrell and Cara Bryant all of Pocahontas, Mel Futrell of Birmingham, AL, Johna Mannen of Phoenix, AR and Kristi Mabry of Spartanburg, SC, 19 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Futrell was a faithful member of the Pyburn Street Church of Christ. In 1936 Mr. and Mrs. Futrell opened Western Auto and in 1958 Byron and Francis Futrell took over the business, but Marion and Lalia Futrell was still very active in the store until the last few years.

Funeral services will be Sunday, June 10th, 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Mel Futrell officiating. Burial will follow in Morrow Cemetery in Beech Grove, AR.

Visitation will be prior to services Sunday afternoon, 1:00 until 3:00

Nolan Thomas Higdon
 


Nolan Thomas Higdon, 100, of Paragould, AR, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Greene Acres Nursing Home. Mr. Higdon was born October 16, 1911 to Joe and Sally Higdon.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife Betty; brother Sonny Higdon; sisters Clenie Reed and JoAnn and two great grandchildren Matthew and Mitchell.

Survivors include three sons; Joe (Doris) Higdon of Paragould, Gene (Carol) Higdon of Imperial, MO and David Higdon also of Paragould; two daughters, Nola Mae Potter and Margie Despain both of Paragould; three brothers, Donald, Ralph and Ernie Higdon; two sisters, Uneda and Mammie; 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Leonard Joseph Strong II
 


Leonard Joseph Strong II, 51, of Paragould, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012.

He was born Feb. 18, 1961, to Leonard Joseph Strong and Patsy Joan Strong-Corby. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, motorcycles, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. A veteran, Mr. Strong served four years in the Marine Corps as a corporal, and was deployed overseas twice.

Preceding him in death were his mother and grandparents, the Rev. Robert and Maudie Montgomery, and Lester and Louise Strong.

Survivors include his father; stepmother, Gladys Strong; stepsons, Micky and Nick Holland; stepdaughter, Mindy Surita; brothers, James and John Strong, both of Texas, and Dan (Cheryl) Corby of Paragould; sisters, Julie Alexander and Jackie (Bryan) Easley, all of Paragould; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests Saturday, June 16th, 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. Memorial services will follow at 4:00 p.m. with military honors. The family has chosen to have a private interment in Pine Log Cemetery at a later date.

Betty Jo Ragsdell, age 73, of Paragould, AR, died Friday, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mae Bomar.

Nina Fay Edwards
 


Nina Fay Edwards, 93, of Belle Meade in Paragould, formerly of Greenway, went to be with her lord on Friday June 8, 2012 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

She was born October 18, 1918, to the late Jessie and Emma Mae (Spicer) Laws. She was of the Church of Christ faith. She worked for Buck Auto and was a Baby Sitter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Glen, Raleigh, Pete, Nelson and Raymond Laws and two sisters, Sylvia Neely and twin sister, Mima Grooms.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews and a special niece Anna Mae Pruett and husband.Lavell along with a host of other friends.

A celebration of her life will be held Monday, June 11th, 11:00 a.m. at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Brother Nolan Glover officiating.
Visitation will be prior to services at 10:00 a.m. Monday. Interment will follow the services and will be at Memorial Gardens in Paragould.

Pallbearers are Jack Hamilton, Jim Hamilton, Tommy Samples and Lindey Goodman.

Ralph H. Rogers, 80, of Paragould passed away Friday, June 8, 2012 at St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center. He was born October 14, 1932 to the late Edgar R. and Inez (Hancock) Rogers. Mr. Rogers was a member of both the American Legion and Paragould Church of God and was an avid camper. A Veteran, he served 22 ½ years in the U.S. Air Force.

Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors include his spouse, Doris Rogers; sons, Kenneth and Russell Rogers; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and James Walton, and Teresa and Ronnie Tramel; brother, Edgar Rogers II; sister, Frances Watkins; three grandchildren, Angie Kent, Chris and Katie Tramel; one great-grandchild, Lucie Kent.


Visitation will be Monday evening, June 11th, 6:00 until 8:00 in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 12th, 9:30 a.m. with Winford Walters officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors at Elmwood Cemetery in Blytheville, AR

James Alvin Holaway

James Alvin Holaway, 56 of Paragould, died Saturday at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. James worked at Monroe Auto for 37 years. He was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lilly Hallmark Holaway Jr. and a brother, William Keith Holaway.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Holaway of the home; daughter, Jamie Barrett of Brookland, AR; brothers, Joseph T., Roland M., and Michael Holaway all of Paragould; sister Deana K. Kimberlin of Berryville, AR. Granddaughter, Jalyn Michelle Barrett.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 11th, 1:30 p.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with Rev. Gary Morris officiating. Burial will follow in New Friendship Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home.

Anita Lorraine Bibb

 


Anita Lorraine (Faulk) Bibb, 60 of Pocahontas, died Saturday June 9, 2012 at her residence. Born December 28, 1951, Anita was a homemaker and a Christian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Maurice and Geneva Wright Faulk.

Survivors include her husband, Paul Bibb of the home; sons, Chris Jetton of Paragould, Corey Bibb of Cardwell, MO and Justin Bibb of Pocahontas; sisters Donna Callahan of Batesville and Sharon Richardson of Paragould. Grandchildren, Alix and Tori Jetton.

Visitation will be Sunday evening, 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. at Heath Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 11th, 11:00 a.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Harry Hendrix officiating. Burial will follow in Hartsoe Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Hays, Tony Markovich, Jason Moore, Todd Griffith, Robert Davis and Donnie Medlock. Jeremy Watson, Shelby Thompson and Brice Souder will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Wendy Campbell
 


Wendy Campbell, 47, of Paragould passed away June 9, 2012 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, AR. She was born November 23, 1964 in Millington, TN., at the Millington Naval Base to E.O. “Eber” and Vernelle Campbell. She attended elementary and junior high school in Campbell, MO., graduated high school in 1983 from Woodham High School in Pensacola, FL. and graduated in 1988 from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR.


She worked as a journalist for the Daily Dunklin Democrat in Kennett, MO., Northeast Arkansas Tribune in Paragould, AR., Times Dispatch in Walnut Ridge, AR., Newport Daily Independent and Jonesboro Sun. After an illness, she moved to Arkansas from Pensacola where she was a writer/photographers with the Pensacola News Journal and their numerous publications including: Bella and Home and Garden. She was also employed as a writer/photographer with Snowbirds, serving the Alabama and Florida gulf coast.

She was preceded in death by her parents; maternal and paternal grandparents.

Survivors include numerous cousins and a host good of friends.

A private burial is planned.

Terry Doyle Yancey



Terry Doyle Yancey, 54, of Rector, Arkansas, died Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Born November 17, 1957 in Paragould, to Alvie and Sophie Yancey, Mr. Yancey was of the Baptist faith and loved to barbecue and sit in the swing with his children. He also collected coins, baseball cards and collectible cars.

Survivors include, his mother: Sophie Yancey; one son: Lonnie Yancey of the home; one daughter: Samantha Yancey of the home; one brother: Eugene Yancey and wife Candy of Rector, Arkansas; four sisters: Gloria Brown and husband Mike of Rector, Arkansas, Charlotte Yancey and companion Skip Smith of Knob, Arkansas; Vanessa Howe and husband Charles of Rector, Arkansas and Carmin Loveless and husband Shane of Knob, Arkansas; one granddaughter: Aubrey Gail Yancey; six nephews; two nieces; and a host of other family and friends.

Mr. Yancey was preceded in death by his father: Alvie Yancey and his wife: Susan Yancey.

Funeral services, Friday, June 15th, at Smith Chapel General Baptist Church, Boydsville, Arkansas with Rev. Ernie Rinks officiating. The family will receive visitors Thursday, June 14th, at the church under the direction of Faith Funeral Service

Mr. Fred Gambill

 


Fred Gambill, age 95, of Paragould passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Arkansas Methodist Hospital. He was born October 20, 1916 at Herndon to Oscar and Ruth Faulkner Gambill.
Fred was butcher and was a member of the 3rd Avenue Baptist Church in Paragould. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW, and loved hunting, fishing, dancing and baseball.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth Burton Gambill; and a sister, Olga McClune.

Survivors include a daughter, Glenda Parkinson of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Jill (Jack) Mitchell of Memphis, TN, Amy (Matt) Crain of Jonesboro, Sam Johnson and Rosanne Johnson both of Nashville, TN; five great grandchildren; and special friend, Joy Compton.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 16th, 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro.

Chapel services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday with Leon Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery.

Helen Hass

 


Mrs. Helen Hass, 82, of Springfield, MO, died Friday, June 15, 2012, at The Waterford in Springfield, MO. She was born December 11, 1929 to the late Alvin and Oather Hill Starnes in Marmaduke. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Phineas and James Starnes, sisters, Thelma Hoggard, Bee Staires, Pauline Baker and Susan Gainey.

Helen and her husband of 62 years, Curtis, moved from Marmaduke to Michigan after they were married. Helen was a homemaker and worked for Sears in the Women's Ready To Wear department for 22 years. She was active in Eastwood Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling.

She is survived by her husband: Curtis, of the home; daughter, Marcia Downs of Springfield, MO; sister: Learline Campbell of Flint, MI; brother and sister-in-law: Wayne and Betty Starnes of Little Rock.

The family will receive friends Monday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Her life will be celebrated Tuesday, June 19th, 10:00 a.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel, with Reverend Willyne Jordan, officiating. Burial will follow at Harvey's Chapel Cemetery.

Alton Monroe Sanders Jr., 61, of Paragould died Friday, June 15, 2012.

Born April 22, 1951, in Mississippi, he was preceded in death by his parents, Alton Monroe Sanders Sr. and Lavell Cavitt Green; and daughters, Laquata and Juanita Sanders.

Survivors include a son, Billy Sanders of Paragould, and siblings, Faye Quarles of Paragould, Teresa and Terry Sanders, both of Jonesboro, Jesse Sanders of Gosnell, Teddy Sanders, Penny and Tina Harrington, all of Blytheville.

Jeff “Red” Price, 51, of Paragould died Saturday June 16, 2012, at St Bernard’s Medical Center.

Jeff was born June 11, 1961 in South Bend, Indiana. He had lived most of his life in Northeast Arkansas. He worked as an Iron worker, and was a family man.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Carolyn Holman.
He is survived by his soul mate, Sherry Stewart of the home; three children, Cody Heddey of Paragould, and Zach Heddey and Haley Jackson both of Hardy; one sister, Penny (Kevin) Campbell of Trumann; four grandchildren, and six nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 20th, 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with services to follow at 3:00 p.m. with Nick Meeks officiating. Burial will be at Johnson Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth C. Mahan
 


Kenneth C. Mahan, 85 of Dupo, Illinois. Was born July 17, 1926 in Paragould, Arkansas. He passed away June 16, 2012 at Belleville Healthcare & Rehab Center, Belleville, Illinois.

Mr. Mahan was a WW II Navy Veteran who received the Purple Heart, he retired from Brown Shoe Company St. Louis, Missouri. He was a member of Calvary General Baptist Church in Dupo, Illinois.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Elbert & Lora (Newberry) Mahan, one brother Jack Mahan and one sister Cortez Hickman.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years Betty S. Godwin Mahan, one daughter Ann Gregory of Paragould, one sister Cowella Taylor of Chester, Indiana, twograndchildren; Jeri (Donnie) Lowe of Henderson, Tennessee, Christy (Kyle) Marshall of Paragould, six great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. He was a dear Uncle, Cousin & Friend.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 20th, 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Seventh and Mueller Church of Christ, 1000 So. 7th Street, Paragould. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 at the church with Brother Larry McFadden officiating, Burial will be in Hartsoe Cemetery in Marmaduke, Arkansas.

Faustina "Tina" McNeil departed peacefully from this life Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Flo and Phil Jones Hopice House in Jonesboro. She was 83. She was born February 5, 1929 to James Oliver and Golda Grooms Adams in Greene County AR. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eugene McNeil, one daughter, Crissie Jumper, and siblings, Amos Adams, Stanley Adams, Vivian Fletcher, Wava Hunter and Gerald Wayne Adams.

She is survived by daughters: Jeanne Burnside of Paragould and Cathy Lambert of Jackson, MO; one sister, Wanda Zolman of Paragould; five granddaughters: Heather (Ron) Styer, Jennifer Beggs, McNeil Burnside, Natalie (David) Engelken; and one grandson, Adam (Lea Anne) Lambert. She is also survived by six great grandchildren, niece Angela Adams, and nephew, Gerald Wayne Adams, Jr.

She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and was retired from Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, where she worked for almost three decades. She loved to read and follow the St. Louis Cardinals.

The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon, June 20th, 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Heath Funeral Home. Her life will be celebrated Wednesday, 2:30 p.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel, with Kelly Wright officiating.
Interment will follow at Linwood Cemetery.

Alan Ray Garner, 73, of Campbell, Missouri, died Sunday, June 17, 2012, at his residence.

He was born in Paragould, October 24, 1938, to the late Allen Ray and Olive Garner. Mr. Garner was an Army veteran, a retired therapist from Los Angeles County Hospital, and of Christian faith.

Survivors include two sons, Victor Allen Ray Garner, II of Campbell, Missouri, Rodney Alan Garner of California; and three daughters, Rayetta Garner Smith of Steel, Missouri, Robin Jovic of Campbell, and Regina Garner of California. He is also survived by one brother, Barry Garner of Kennett; one sister, Anita Faye Dye; twelve grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Dale, Charles and Roy Eugene Garner.

Funeral services will be Friday, June 22nd, 1:30 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould, with Allen Massey, Sr. and Andy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.

She was born May 4, 1945 to the late Raymond and Edith (Cole) Wright in Michigan.

Jean Raley Rogers, 86, of Jonesboro and formerly of Wynne, passed away peacefully at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro Wednesday, June 20, 2012.

Jean was born August 3, 1925 in Paragould. She was a graduate of Paragould High School in 1944. She was married to Art (Orlan) Rogers in 1945. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, was a homemaker, and raised her family in Wynne where she worked for many years as a dental assistant.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband Art Rogers, her parents, Odis and Hester Raley, a sister, Wilene Dollar, and by a brother, Raymond O. (Bud) Raley.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Dennis and Karen Rogers and Marc and Becky Rogers all of Jonesboro; two grandchildren: Jason (Brandy) Gardner of Harrisburg and Raley Rogers of Fayetteville, three great grandchildren: Chelsea Gardner, Walker Gardner and Kayna Gardner all of Harrisburg; and one great great grandson, Kyler Gardner of Harrisburg.

Graveside funeral services will be Friday, June 22nd, 10:00 a.m. at Crosslawn Cemetery in Wynne with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

There will be no visitation.

Mrs. Bernice Looney
 


Bernice Yeargain Looney, age 78, of Paragould passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. She was born June 30, 1933 to Herschel and Della McFarland Yeargain. Bernice taught special education for 38 years, teaching at Osceola High School for most of her career, during which time she was awarded the Channel 8 Golden Ruler. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and loved to travel.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James C. Looney; and two sisters, Patsy Hufford and Pauline Martin.

Survivors include her son, James M. (Robin) Looney of Searcy; two grandchildren, Ruth Ann Looney of Little Rock and James Robert Looney of Ft. Hood, TX; two brothers, Jessie Yeargain of Des Moines, NM and Azro Yeargain of Palm Coast, FL; a sister, Vanetta Bishop of Paragould; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, 5:00 until 7:00 at the Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro.

Funeral services will be Friday, June 22nd, 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. at the Cardwell Cemetery in Cardwell, MO.

Survivors include; his wife Amber Mansfield of the home, his parents, Gary and Kathy Wilson of Oak Grove Heights, Arkansas, two sons, Richard Allen Mansfield Jr. Brice Butler and one step daughter, Blissity Tam all of Paragould, two brothers, Michael (Nichole) Wilson, Robert (Jenny) Wilson, one sister, Cheryl (Melvin) Lewis all of Paragould, maternal grandparents, John and Shirley Curry of Carmi, Illinois, maternal grandfather, Archie Mashburn of Paragould, ten nieces and nephews and four great nieces and nephews.

Lenora Faye Farrar, daughter of the late Ezra and Opal Jackson Potter, was born April 14, 1928, in Marmaduke, Arkansas and passed away June 20, 2012 at her residence in Marmaduke at the age of 84 years. She married Jack Farrar April 8, 1946, in Paragould, Arkansas. He preceded her in death February 28, 2004.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis Farrar and wife, Vickie, of Senath and Jackie Farrar of Riverton, KY; three daughters, Tammy "Farrar" Williams and husband David of Marmaduke, Sandy "Farrar" Williams and husband Danny of Paragould and Pat "Farrar" Crites and husband, Jimmy Lloyd of Cherokee Village; brother, Alfadon Potter of Mounds; sister, Betty Woods of Paragould; eight grandchildren, Camille Noblin, Jason Farrar, Josh Farrar, Barry Farrar, Chasidy Stanley, Bruce Farrar, Angie Farrar, Brian Farrar; 10 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Geniva Green.

Danny Gene Birmingham, son of Alice Burdin Birmingham and the late Billy Gene Birmingham, was born August 12, 1952, in Paragould, AR., and departed this life Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at the age of 59.

Jerry Don Rogers


Jerry Don Rogers of Hollister, MO passed from this life Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Point Lookout Nursing Home in Hollister.

Jerry was born on December 10, 1946 in Paragould, AR., to the late Walter Oba and Thelma Agnes (Hickerson) Rogers. He spent a lot of hours studying his Bible, was affiliated with a non-denominational church, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Jerry served our country in the U.S. Army two years, the National Guard twenty years, worked for Emerson Electric thirty-seven years and for a shuttle bus resort for two years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Kitchens who was eleven years at the time of his death; two brothers: Prentiss Rogers and Carl Rogers; three sisters: Dorothy Nordgard, Naomi Rogers and Leona Rogers.

Jerry is survived by his wife Dena Darlene Rogers of Hollister, three sons: Stacey Rogers and wife Tidoshia of Ash Land City, TN, Jeromy Auler and wife Crystal of Senath, MO, Richard Raspberry and wife Jennifer of Piggott; two daughters: Leeann Debruce and husband Heath of Jonesboro, Terra Vanandel and husband Ryan of California; one brother Roy Rogers and wife Mary of Greenway; one sister, Betty Nordgaard and husband Lyle of Michigan; eight grandchildren; Gloria Marie Rogers, Elijah Rogers, Austin Raspberry, Bethany Raspberry, Kate Tyler, Lauren Presley, Alexis Auler, Robert Auler and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening, June 26th, 6:00 until 8:00 at the Irby Funeral Home in Piggott. A celebration of his life will be Wednesday, June 27th, 11:00 a.m.at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Piggott with Pastor Lindon Frost, son Stacy Rogers and Willie Jones officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway.

Lorene Electra Straub

 


Lorene Electra Straub, 89, of Paragould, died Friday, June 22, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Lorene was born July 15, 1922 in Wynne, Arkansas the daughter of the late James and Lula Smith Haggard. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Straub, sisters, Cassie West, Sis Causey, and sister-in-law, Sandra Straub. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Mary and Dub Wood of Lake City; sons: Mike Straub of Tyler, TX, Jim Straub of Southaven, MS; granddaughters and grandsons-in-law: Carol and Chuck Wofford, Ashley and Brian Sessums, Lisa and Derek Exum; great grandchildren: Brandon and Bradley Wofford, Blake and Kaley Sessums, Matthew and Wil Exum.

A public rosary will be held Monday evening, at 6:00 p.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with visitation following from 6:30 until 8:00. Family and friends will meet Tuesday, June 26th, 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Cemetery, with Father Mike Sinkler officiating. Mildred Partridge Morrow
 



Mildred Partridge Morrow, 89, of Paragould passed away in her home on June 22, 2012. She was born October 22, 1922 in Stuttgart, Arkansas to Hugh Hall and Laura Smith Partridge.

She attended Central Baptist College and Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway, majoring in Home Economics. In September of 1946, she married her husband of 46 years, Owen W. Morrow. She moved to Paragould in 1999.

She was a member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church were she was a Sunday school Teacher, member of the Butler Class and a member of the Society of Stephen Each Sunday for the last 12 years she enjoyed the televised programming of PHUMC with family members or caregivers. She was able to stay connected to the church she called home. She was a volunteer at UAMS and Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, and original member of the Arkansas Arts Center and an avid bridge player.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Harold Partridge and sisters Lillian Goetz, Velma Partridge and Barbara Mabry.

Survivors include daughter Marsha Morrow Morgan and husband Bill of Paragould, son, Michael Morrow and wife Ellen of Douglasville, GA, grandchildren, Steve Morgan and wife Martha of Maumelle, Jenny Morgan Post and husband Corey of Rogers, Nathan Morgan and wife Melissa of Lebanon, N.H. and Laura Morrow of Douglasville, GA; great-grandchildren Will Morgan, Emma Morgan, Mary Eliza Morgan and Rae Lynn Morgan; sister, Naomi Prange of Dewitt and brother, Hugh Partridge, Jr. of Oceanside, CA,

Special thanks are given to her caregivers, Susan and Evon.

Private graveside services will be held at Pinecrest Memorial Park, arrangements by Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould.

Gaylon Wayne Biggs

 


Gaylon Wayne Biggs, 82, of Paragould, died Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. He was born July 11, 1929 in Paragould the son of the late William and Ruby Biggs. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jean Biggs, son, Billy Gene Biggs, sisters, Joyce Higgins, Marietta Jones, brothers, Richard and Ralph Biggs. Gaylon was retired from Wonder Bread, raised birddogs, was a gentleman farmer, loved hunting, fishing, St. Louis Cardinals, Razorbacks, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his sons: Alfred and Bobby Joe Biggs, both of Paragould; grandson and granddaughter-in-law: Brian and Kim Biggs; great grandsons: Mason Biggs and Beau Jones, all of Jonesboro.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. His life will be celebrated Wednesday, June 27th, 10:30 a.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Eddie Gene Wright officiating.
Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Ollie Irene Walden

 

Ollie Irene Walden, 95, Paragould, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at her home. Irene was born June 14, 1917 the daughter of the late J. Ed and Mattie Lee Miller. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Walden, brothers, Cletis and Mack Thompson and an infant sister. Irene was the first female to be a paige in the Arkansas Capital at the time her father was a senator. She was a member of Clark's Chapel Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher for many years. She lived in Jonesboro for 47 years before moving to Paragould in 1996.

She is survived by her daughter: Marcie Walden; niece and caregiver: Jo Ann Wicker, both of the home and a host of neices, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Her life will be celebrated Thursday, June 28th, 1:00 p.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Wilburn Griggs officiating. Interment will follow at Finch Cemetery. M. E. “Junior” Smith, 85, of Paragould was taken to be with the Lord, Monday, June 25, 2012 at his home. He was a retired heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed auctions, car races, working on mowers, watching sports and loved spending time with his family and friends. He is described as being a hardworking, patient, caring and loving man. A man of intergrity.

Preceding him in death were his parents, M. A. and Edith Smith; one brother, Russell Smith; a son-in-law, Kenneth Paul King; a sister-in-law Shirley Smith and one brother-in-law, Maurice Barr.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce “Kay” Smith of the home; two sons, Ryan (Kristy) Smith and Mark Stuart all of Paragould; three daughters, Shirley (Craig) Cox of Sullivan, MO., Jennifer (Richard) Williams of Rector and Kim King of Paragould; four brothers, Curt (Sue) Smith, Bob Smith, David (Janice) Smith and Donald Ray Smith; three sisters, Wilma Barr, Loretta (Dale) Fuller and Carolyn Rowland; eight grandchildren, Brittany (Jeremy) Schell, Laura Williams, Sean King, Dylan Clark, Tori Clark, Derrick Fletcher, Jennifer (Ryan) Fletcher-Williamson and Erin Cox; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Jean (Dewayne) Cole, Barbara Souheaver, and several nieces, nephews, special neighbors and friends.

Cindy Lynn Thrasher



Cindy Lynn Thrasher, 48, of Paragould, Arkansas died Saturday, June 23, 2012 at her home. Ms. Thrasher was born December 16, 1964 in Paragould, Arkansas to Eugene James and Edna Jean Williams. She enjoyed camping, going to casinos, riding around and talking.

Survivors include: her father: Eugene James Williams of Paragould, Arkansas, one son: Shannon Gill of Paragould, Arkansas; three sisters: Tammie Horne, Tina Hall, and Debbie Stanley and husband Greg all of Paragould, Arkansas; two grandchildren: Jace and Braylon Gill and a host of other family and friends.

Ms. Thrasher was preceded in death by her mother: Edna Jean Condray Williams and one nephew: Justin Griggs.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 28th, at 1:00 pm at the Greater Vision Ministries Church, Paragould, Arkansas with the Rev. Richard Ethridge officiating. Interment will follow at the Providence Cemetery under the direction of Faith Funeral Service.

Mr. Pillow was born March 21, 1931 in Paragould AR. to the late Odus and Gladys McClain Pillow. Cherished husband of Frances Svitek Pillow, married for 56 years.

Christian Miguel Easley

 

Christian Miguel "Peanut" Easley, age 8, of Brookland, died Monday June 25, 2012 at his home of natural causes.

Christian was born April 28, 2004 in Jonesboro and lived most of his life in Brookland. He was a third grader at Brookland Elementary School and thoroughly enjoyed being talked to and entertained by his big brother Charlie. Christian was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Easley, his grandfather, Edward Easley and one aunt, Natalie Andrews.

Survivors include his mother, Shelia Andrews of the home; his father, Gary Easley of Paragould; two brothers, Michael Easley of Paragould and Charles Easley of the home; two sisters, Rebecca Easley and Selena Easley, both of the home; maternal grandparents, Jimmy and Martha Andrews of Brookland; paternal grandmother, Barbara Easley of Paragould; and paternal great grandmother, Ann Brown of St. Louis.

Active pallbearers include Felix Kinsey, Jordan Brannon, Anthony Hunt, Scott Keen, Lloyd Davis and Col. James Waldo.

Honorary pallbearers include the Special Education teachers and staff of Brookland Middle School and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mr. Ruben Dane Fletcher
 


Ruben Dane Fletcher, 64, of Cary, NC, formerly of Swartz Creek, MI, passed away June 26, 2012 after fighting a long battle with illness. He was born February 24, 1948 to Bearl and Vernice (Strawbridge) Fletcher of Paragould, AR.

He was preceded in death by his mother; and his brother, David Fletcher.

He is survived by his wife of eleven years, Gail (Settlemoir) Fletcher; his father, Bearl Fletcher of Swartz Creek, MI; four sons, R.D., Terry, Mike (Dana)Fletcher of MI, and Janssen (Brandy) Settlemoir of Brookland, AR; one daughter, Mika (Chris) Partridge of NC; three grandchildren, Alannah Williamson, Elizabeth Fletcher and River Settlemoir.

Ruben proudly served in the U.S. Army for two years, stationed in Germany. He was employed with General Motors from 1970 until retiring in 2005. Even though he lived in Michigan for most of his life, he cherished the memories of traveling back to Arkansas with his mom, dad and brother to visit family each year. He was a devoted husband, dad and papa. He enjoyed golfing, baseball, reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with his family.

Graveside services will be Saturday, June 30th, 10:00 a.m. at Pine Log Cemetery in Brookland, AR.
Visitation will be at 9:45 a.m. prior to services. Rick Hathcoat will officiate.

Tressie Ella Ring, 84, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Randolph County Nursing Home in Pocahontas.

She was born December 8, 1927 in Stanford to John Henry and Iona May Shoemaker Witcher. On August 31, 1946 she married Donald Eldon Ring. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in the Searcy area.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Marcella, Selma, Tester; and brothers, Bill, Herschel, Tom, Travis.

Survivors include daughters, Vicky Palazzola, Linda Allee and Judy Hogg all of MO, Janet Frier of AR, Caryl Jones of IN; sons, Jerry Ring of MO and Bill Ring of AR; sister, Ann King of OH; brothers, James Witcher of AR and Dallas Witcher of TN; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Wanna Foster, 89 of Jonesboro, died Friday at Craighead Nursing Center in Jonesboro. Wanna was a homemaker and a member of Harmony Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Alma Garner, sisters, Lurline Hyde and Mildred Harvill; brothers Carson and Sanford Garner.

Lavena Holland, 83 of Paragould died Friday at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She was retired from Ed White, Jr. Shoe Factory and also worked at Monette Shoe Factory.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Holland, parents, William Lawrence and Mary Elizabeth Brown Bolick; 3 brothers and 4 sisters.

Survivors include son, Johnny Allen (Linda) Holland of Eudora, AR; brothers Monroe Bolick of Walnut Ridge, AR and James Bolick of Lafe, AR; sisters Frances Marcrander of Seattle, WA and Jennie Huggins of Paragould; grandchildren, Dana Holland and Amanda Witcher.

James Ora Hobbs, 79 of Paragould, died Friday at his residence. James was retired from Emerson Electric after 34 years. He also worked for Greene County Tech. He was a member of New Life Temple. He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Ethel Ivie Hobbs, brothers, Joseph, Henry, Robert, John, Leon and Leo; sister, Mary Edna Hobbs.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Hobbs of the home; sons Raymond Eugene (Janet) Hobbs and Thomas Cooper both of Paragould; daughters, Melinda (Pete) Smith of Michigan, Phyllis (Keith) Stevens of Ward, AR, Becky (Charles) Brietz of Paragould, Kim (Keith) McDaniel of Jonesboro, Stephanie (Dennis) Traylor of Harrison, AR; sister, Frances Edwards of Paragould; 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Johnny Glen McMillian, son of the late Thomas Jackson McMillian and Mary Mathilde Williams McMillian was born June 23, 1953 in Bentonia, MS., and passed away Friday June 29, 2012, in Greene County, AR. at the age of 59 years.

Johnny was preceded in death by one brother Raymond McMillian.
