Eulagene Lloyd Staten



Eulagene Lloyd Staten of Paragould, joined the heavenly choir on June 1, 2011. She joined her parents, Samuel Walter and Electra Ann Hoadley Lloyd; her husband, Charles Ray Staten; and her brother Jim Lloyd, and sisters, Tennie Barnhill, and infant, Mary.

As part of a musical family, Eulagene began singing and playing piano for Rock Hill Baptist Church while a teenager. Over the years, she played for many quartets, gospel “singings”, and church services. While a member of West View Baptist Church, she has taught Sunday School, planned programs for the Young at Heart group, and was still leading the Bible study portion of the Sunday evening adult training group. Always wanting to be useful, Gene led a craft group in her church. Their primary ministry was to provide quilts for many occasions, and they also made crafts for children and the elderly.

Born in Greene County on September 10, 1921, Gene graduated from Greene County High School and soon began her teaching career. She completed her MSE degree at Arkansas State, with a major in English, attending classes at night and during summers. Married in 1947, she and Charles worked in the school systems of many towns in primarily the northeast section of the state. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Gene was often class sponsor, directed the Glee Club, and coached basketball and softball.

Mrs. Staten is survived by nieces and nephews, Cheryl Lloyd Fallis of North Little Rock, Larry Lloyd (wife Vickey) of Fayetteville, Randall Staten and Janis Staten of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Ruth Ann Staten of Knoxville, Tennessee. There are also great nieces and nephews in Arkansas, Colorado, and Tennessee. Her good friend and cousin, Gwen Woodson Sutowski will also miss her dearly.

Visitation will be Friday evening, June 3rd, 6:00 until 8:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 4th, 10:30 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Marc Reeves officiating. Burial will follow in Brown’s Chapel Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to West View Baptist Church or to the American Heart Association.

John Dayton
 


John Angus Dayton, 56 of Paragould passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Born in Birmingham, Ala., he was the son of the late Edward John and Violet Howard Dayton and had been a long-time area resident. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and spending time with friends.

Survivors include many long-time friends.

There will be private services and disposition with Faith Funeral Service of Manila in charge of arrangements.

Harold Robert Hoffman
 


Harold Robert Hoffman, 76, of Walnut Ridge passed away June 2, 2011, at his residence.

Born December 14, 1934, in Paragould, he was the son of Thomas and Myrtle Huffman Hoffman. He had lived in Randolph County before moving to Walnut Ridge 19 years ago and attended the Faith Assembly in Walnut Ridge. He had worked for Hussman Refrigeration.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl Hoffman, Vernon Hoffman and Elijah Hoffman.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Hoffman; two daughters, Kathy Hall and husband Gene and Connie Hart and husband Dale, all of Warrenton, Mo; a brother, L.C. Hoffman and wife Faye, Walnut Ridge; two sisters, Leoma Robinson and husband Lowell, Pocahontas, Dorothy McCall and husband Harland, Warner, Okla.; three grandchildren, Brad Moellering, Brittany Stone and Christian Hart; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Betty Williams and Bob Marriott officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Brad Moellering, Christian Hart, Allen Flanery, Danny Shewmaker, Jason Hoffman and Donald Hoffman.

Jessie Wroyman Greer
 


Jessie Wromyan Francis Greer, 90, of Paragould, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011at Greene Acres Nursing Home. She was born January 1, 1921 in Marmaduke the daughter of the late Alonzo and Nancy Elizabeth Tomlinson Francis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Buford Greer, son, David, daughter, Shelby Jean, grandson, Danny, brother, Gib Francis, and sister, Sylvia Prince.

Survivors include her sons: Mike Greer and Harold "Ace" Greer, both of Paragould and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Her life will be celebrated Tuesday, June7th, 2:00 p.m. at the Heath Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Jim Albritton officiating. Interment will follow at New Friendship Cemetery. Pallbearers are Michael Greer, Fred Greer, Richard Greer, Dennis Bruce, Mike Bruce and Joe Kerby.

Michael Douglas Lenderman
 


Michael Douglas Lenderman, 52, of Paragould passed away June 6, 2011 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. He was born August 8, 1958 in St. Louis, MO. to Boe and Ida Lenderman.

He is survived by his parents; wife, Sondra Lenderman of the home; one daughter, Brandi (Chris) Rannals of Paragould; one son, Michael Lenderman, Jr. of Paragould; one sister, Patti Wrather of St. Louis, MO.; 3 grandchildren, Brylei Rannals, Baylee Lenderman and Abbie Lenderman; people special to him, Cheryl Lenderman, Whitley Boling, Lindsey, Noah and Nathan Hickson; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Ray and Beulah Breckenridge and Mr. and Mrs. Edison Phelps.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, June 8th, 6:00 until 8:00 at Phillips Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 9th, 10:00 a.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home with Pat Graham officiating. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery.

Funeral services for Gary Curtis Martin, 66, of Cullman, Alabama will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, Ralph Andrews officiating, with interment in Cullman City Cemetery.

Mr. Martin passed away Monday, June 6, 2011 at his residence. He was born August 26, 1944, in Paragould, Arkansas to Dolph and Clara Martin. He was a manager of Cullman Walmart and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Phillip Martin; and a sister, Jackie Willie.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy McHalffey Martin; two daughters, Stacy (Randall) Walker and Paige McWaters; three brothers, Donnie Martin, Larry Martin and Bruce Martin; a sister, Joyce Harig; and five grandchildren, Thad, Ross and Ben Walker, Taylor and Karsyn McWaters.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 8th, 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Freeda Pauline Locastro

 


Freeda Pauline Williams Locastro, 92, Paragould, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2011at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. She was born October 26, 1918 in Marmaduke the daughter of the late Armetus Mead and Rena Dickinson Nicholas. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, John Sharpe Williams, second husband, Joseph Locastro, sister, three brothers and one grandson.

Survivors include her daughter: Phyllis Williams Davison of Paragould; son: Wyaman Williams of Hemphill, TX; sister: Minerva Brightwell of Marmaduke; brother: James Denver Nicholas of Paragould; seven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and sixteen great great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday June 11th, 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Heath Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet for graveside services, Friday, 1:00 p.m. at New Friendship Cemetery, with Father Mike Sinkler officiating. Memorials may be made to the New Friendship Cemetery Fund.

Donald Leo Johnson, 78 of Paragould passed away Friday June 10, 2011at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
Born September 26, 1932, Donald was a truck driver for Monroe Auto Equipment, veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Blue Cross General Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elbert and Madge Yates Johnson; brother, Dennis Johnson and sister, Melvagene Foster.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Johnson of the home; sons, Gregory Johnson of Paragould and Patrick Johnson of Dallas, Oregon, 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; brother, Kenneth Johnson of Paragould; sisters, Marie Thompson of Little Rock, AR, Judy Britt of Mt. Juliet, TN.

Visitation will be Monday, June 13th, 11:00 a.m. until service time at Blue Cross General Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the church with Revs. George Haygood and Jerry Pentecost officiating.

Born August 21, 1980, Mary Keona Mariea “Krickett” Hoyer, 30 of Paragould passed away Friday June 10, 2011in McCrory, AR. “Krickett” was a Convenience Store Clerk.

Survivors include son, Cameron Johnson of Paragould; daughter Danika Baucom of Paragould; parents, Connie and Bill Bushong and Dennis Hoyer all of Paragould; brothers and sister-in-law, Brad and Hannah Hoyer and Trenton Hoyer all of Paragould; sister, Amanda Tyler Bushong of Jonesboro; maternal grandparents, John and Lucy Michael of Paragould.

Virginia Elizabeth Pace

 

Virginia Elizabeth Pace 86, of Pocahontas, passed away Monday, June 13, 2011 at Five Rivers Medical Center.

She was born June 2, 1925, in Paragould AR to the late Guy and Beulah Cotton.

She is survived by two sons Jim Pace and wife Diane of Cordova TN, and Joe Pace and wife Brenda of Pocahontas, six grandchildren, Joe Koehler Pace, Steven Craft, Dena Freeman, Tracy Pace, Sara Miller, and Cheryl Long.

Graveside services for Mrs. Pace will be Wednesday, June 15th at 2:30 p.m. in Masonic Cemetery with Joe and Jim Pace officiating.

Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon, 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the services at McNabb Funeral Home.

Dorothy Gerlene Jackson
 


On Tuesday morning, June 14, 2011, Dorothy Gerlene Jackson passed away quietly in her sleep at St. Elizabeth’s Rehabilitation Facility in Jonesboro, AR.
Gerlene, as she was known, frequently burst into song at St. Elizabeth’s causing the staff and other patients to smile and sing along. Her favorite music was songs of the 40’s and 50’s and she became a great jitterbug dancer in her teens. She was 80 years old this past February 20th, having been born February 20, 1931. Gerlene loved gardening and cooking. She could always be found in the yard tending her flowers or fruit, or in the kitchen preparing meals for her family. She shared a love for music with her parents, the former Leslie “Ted” Holland & Adeline “Addie” Holland. She was very proud to have been one of the members of the first graduating class of Greene County Tech High School in 1948, along with her deceased husband, Albert E. Jackson.

She is survived by one brother, Herman Holland (wife, Patsy) of Maynard, her son Rick Jackson (wife Kathy) of Walcott, and her daughter, Deborah Jackson Fleischer (husband Richard) of Hillsborough, New Jersey. Grandmother Jackson, as she was called by her six grandchildren, was a fisherwoman, who would take advantage of any visit to go fishing. She especially loved fished in stocked ponds with her grandchildren and created wonderful memories sitting on the bank, fishing pole in hand, adding a worm to the hook of squeamish granddaughters.
Her grandchildren include one deceased grandchild, Jeremiah Jackson, and five surviving grandchildren, Jennifer Fleischer, Joshua Jackson, Carrie Fleischer, Davis Fleischer, and Juli Jackson. She is also survived by one great grandchild, Jace Jackson. As a lifelong advocate of education, Gerlene became a public school teacher at Lakeside Elementary School in 1959. She retired in 1995, after having served as the Greene County Tech Junior High and Senior High School counselor beginning in 1967. She was a member of the New Haven Baptist Church, a frequent student of Bible Study classes in Jonesboro, and also loved being a Sunday school teacher. Gerlene was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Her love for her family and friends meant that her home was always open with food and fun. She loved hosting family occasions, providing a good meal, snacks, and games. Albert and Gerlene were a perfect couple and their family will always remember them with fond memories.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Her life will be celebrated Friday, June 17th, 10:30 a.m. at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Revs. Ron Pickney and Sam Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Warren’s Chapel Cemetery.

Grover H. Freeman



Grover H. Freeman, 86, of Jonesboro, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Jonesboro Healthcare Center.

He was born August 20, 1925, at Marmaduke to Truman H. and Clara Freeman.

Grover was an accountant and was a past president of the State Board of Accountancy. He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he served on several church committees. He was a veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mona Howe Freeman; a brother, Truman H. Freeman Jr.; and a sister, Martha Freeman.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Robert Guy of Jonesboro; his son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Freda Freeman of Conway; two nieces, Jenny Mitchell (Steve) and Pat Hughey (John), all of Jonesboro; two sisters, Glenda Harris and Carolyn Bigham, both of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren, Amber Warren, Alex Freeman, Ashley Salge, Justin Mitchell, Kristin Mitchell, Abigail Hughey and Hanna Hughey; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 16th, 10:00 a.m. in the Langford-Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Miles officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening 5:00 until 7:00 in the funeral home chapel.

Pallbearers will be Alex Freeman, Justin Mitchell, Robert Guy, Rex Salge, Scott Bell and James McDaniel.

William Scott Grant
 


William Scott Grant, 50, of Paragould, passed away June 14, 2011 in Southaven, MS. He was born November 24, 1960 in Paragould, AR. He was the son of Joann Grant and the late George Grant. William was of Baptist faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dirt track and NASCAR racing, and he loved the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife Sheila Grant of the home; three sons Michael Grant, Marcus (Tina) Grant and Mason Grant; one daughter, Megan Grant; one sister, Georgeann McDonald all of Paragould; one grandson, Tyeson Grant and two step grandson’s, Landon and Carson Calhoun.

He was preceded in death by his dad George Grant; one brother, Michael Grant; grandmother, Ruth Ann Hampton and grandfather, “Doc” Hampton.

Visitation will be Friday, June 17th, 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home with services following at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery.

Donald Cornelius Hollis



Donald Cornelius Hollis, 72, of Paragould, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Belle Meade Healthcare. Mr. Hollis was born May 3, 1939 in Paragould, and was a retired carpenter.

Survivors include one son, Steve Hollis of Little Rock; two brothers, Ron Hollis of Stuart, Florida, Randy Hollis of Paragould; and one sister, Lollie Vickers of Paragould.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Helen Hollis; and one brother, Joe Hollis.

There will be a private memorial service at a later date. No visitation is scheduled.

James Oscar Myres

 

James Oscar Myres, 44, of Rector, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

Born December 30, 1966, in Piggott, he was the son of Mr. James and Dorothy White Myres and had been a longtime area resident. Mr. Myres was employed by the Roy Owens Construction Company, who valued him as an excellent employee, and enjoyed spending time and taking care of his family.

 Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Peggy Myres of the home; his son, Thomas James Myres of the home; three daughters, Heather Myres of the home, Emily Nottingham of St. Francis and Stephanie Golden of Piggott; two brothers, Jackie Myres of Rector and Jim Myres of Cedarville, Ark.; two sisters, Sarah Runyan and Marilyn Frazier, both of Piggott, and his mother, Mrs. Dorothy White of Piggott. Mr. Myres also leaves four grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

 Mr. Myres was preceded in death by his father, James Myres.

 Visitation will be Monday, June 20th, at the Faith Funeral Service Chapel in Manila, AR. The family requested a private burial and disposition.

Pamela Jean Wysong
 


Pamela Jean Breckenridge Wysong, 55, of Springfield, MO. passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at her home. She was born February 15, 1956 at St. Louis, MO. to Coy and Betty Breckenridge.

Survivors include her mother, Betty Breckenridge; two daughters, Falicia J. Wysong and Jessica Breckenridge of Springfield, MO.; one brother, Kevin Breckenridge of Mountain Home, AR.; three grandchildren, Hayle and Kaden Banks and Saphire Breckenridge.

She was preceded in death by her father, Coy Breckenridge; grandparents, O.G and Della Swain, Ray and Beulah Breckenridge.

Norma Lee Boyd
 


Mrs. Norma Lee Boyd, 76, of Knobel, AR., passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, AR. Mrs. Boyd was born September 1, 1934 in Pocahontas, AR. She was a retired custodian for Knobel and Corning School Districts. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with family, and helping those in need. She was a member of Knobel Women’s Club and of the Baptist faith.

She married Conrad Earling Boyd on July 5, 1952. He survives. Other survivors include three sons Gary Boyd of Paragould, AR., Lee Boyd of Corning, AR., Joseph Boyd of Knobel, AR.; one daughter Myrtle Starnes of Corning, AR; one sister Diane Brown of Brookston, IN.; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents Lester and Lela (Alphin) Triplett; one son Connie Lee Boyd (September 16, 1990); and brother Sterling Triplett.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 18th, 10:00 a.m. in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Sunny Williams officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Bond Cemetery in Knobel. Public visitation will be held Friday evening, June 17th, 6:00 until 9:00.

Mary Louise Hall



Mary Louise Hall, 83, of Paragould, passed away Friday, June 17, 2011 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She was born November 16, 1927 in Greenway, Arkansas, to Albert and Lula Baty.

Mrs. Hall retired from Monroe Auto Equipment and was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church. She was a gardener, an avid quilter, and enjoyed needlepoint.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Wesley H. and Kittie Elmore, Roy E. and Louise Elmore, Larry and Carol Elmore; two daughters and a son-in-law, Diane England, and Sharon and Edward Sessums; and a stepson, Tony Hall, all of Paragould. She is also survived by one sister, Loretta Storms of Mesa, Arizona; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Wesley Albert Baty; two sisters, Clausella Martin, and Gloria Jean Day; one granddaughter, Melissa Sessums; her first husband, Hubert L. Elmore; and her second husband, Billy Joe Hall.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 20th, 10:30 a.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould, with Chad Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Brown’s Chapel Cemetery.

Barbara Ann Jones



Barbara Ann Jones, 75, of Paragould, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She was born on May 16, 1936, in Cadillac, MI. to the late Woodrow Wilson and Rosanna Augusta Scott. She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and attended meetings in Paragould, loved to travel, enjoyed shopping for shoes and jewelry, preaching work and loved her dogs.

Survivors include three sons, Michael W. Jones, Uzziel Steven Jones and Russell Scott Jones, all of Paragould; one-like a daughter, Kim Elizabeth Lee; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Uzziel Shelby Jones.

Memorial Services will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 25th, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, U.S. Highway 49 North in Paragould with Alton Hunt officiating.
Family has requested private disposition with Faith Funeral Service in Manila. They are charge of arrangements.

Jo Ann Kettler



Jo Ann Kettler, 67, of Paragould, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. She was born on October 5, 1943, in Johnstown, PA., to the late Paul and Lillian Hemming. She was of the Baptist faith, enjoyed crocheting, working word and number search puzzles, a good cook, and was formerly of Chesaning, Mich.

Survivors include her husband, David Kettler of Paragould; two sons, Bruce (Elizabeth) Kettler of Leachville and David (Joclyn ) Kettler Jr. of Burton, Mich.; three daughters, Carolyn (Mark) Meyer of Mt. Morris, MI.; Gayle (Ray) Forbes of Flint, MI.; and Mary Bearup of Mt. Morris, MI.; one brother, Ralph Hemming, of Flagstaff, AZ.; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Charlotte Hemming and Delores Hemming.

The family request private services and disposition with Faith Funeral Service. They are charge of arrangements.

Della Mae Smith, 88, of Paragould, was born June 16, 1923. She passed away Sunday June 19, 2011.

Survivors include son, Jimmie Dale Smith; sisters, Barbara Gibson and Pearliee Wood; and granddaughter, Amber Smith.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, June 21st, 1:30 p.m. at Linwood Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home. No visitation is scheduled.

Bobby Ray Luke
 


Bobby Ray Luke, 69, of Paragould, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2011, at Greene Acres Nursing Home.

He was born May 1, 1942 in Walcott and was a member of Brown’s Chapel Baptist Church. Bobby retired from Kroger after 42 years of employment.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Shannon and Tammy Luke of Paragould and Shawn Luke of Lakeland, Tennessee; and two sisters, June Dillon of Cardwell and Betty Dortch of Paragould. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Colin and Carley Luke; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Albertine Luke; his wife, Joan Luke; and one brother, Jimmy Luke.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening 6:00 until 9:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 22nd, 10:00 a.m. at Brown’s Chapel Cemetery with Royce Boling and Kevin Edgar officiating. Burial will follow in Brown’s Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Frank Cothren, Lenny Edgar, Robert Strouss, Sam Roberts, Dale Russom and Lanz Loyd.

Jerry Wayne Hancock

 

Jerry Wayne Hancock, 64, of Paragould passed away Sunday June 19, 2011 in Benton. He was born March 2, 1947 in Bono the son of the late Alex and Maudie Davis Hancock. He was a member of Vines Chapel Baptist Church.

He is survived by his brother: Johnny Hancock of Biggers; sister-in-law: Minnie Hancock of Jonesboro and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 22nd, 2:00 p.m. at Lorado Cemetery with Reverend Nathan Gramling officiating. Memorials may be made to Vines Chapel Baptist Church

Reba Cathern Mode



Reba Cathern Mode, 73 of Paragould passed from this life June 20, 2011 at the Arkansas Hospice Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.

She was born December 16, 1937 to the late Clarence and Maudie (Pinkston) Simpson, at Boydsville, Arkansas. She worked as a nurse at the Rector Medical Clinic and Paragould Doctors Clinic for 16 years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints where she served faithfully. She also was a part of the Senior Olympics and Senior Citizens. Reba enjoyed camping at one time as long as there was inside facilities and a place to put on her make up. She also loved reading. She would read from 4 to 5 books a week. Her family was the most important though. She loved spending time with all of them.

Preceding Reba in death was her parents, her grandson: Jason Mode and a son-in-law: David Loesch.

Surviving Reba is her husband, Billie J. Mode, three daughters and a son-in-law: Debbie L. Ray of Jonesboro, Beverly D. Loesch of Hastings,
Minnesota, Donna J Forrest and Joe of San Antonio, Texas, five grandchildren: Derek Forrest, Melanie Parra and husband: Art, Jeffrey
Ray, Katie Loesch and boyfriend, Ian Daniels, Lisa Brown and husband: Brice, five great-grandchildren: Kaley Daniels, Robert Forrest, Emma Forrest, Ragen Brown, Benicio Parra and a brother and his wife: Jesse and Jo Simpson of Kirkwood, Missouri.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 22nd, 6:00 p.m. at the Irby Funeral Home in Rector. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 23rd, 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Branch President David LaVetter in charge of the services. Interment will be at the Woodland Heights Cemetery

Annette Marie Blood, 53, of Paragould passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2011. She was born July 19, 1957 at Decatur, IL. to Alfred and June Murphy. Annette was of Baptist faith. She loved arts and crafts. The family would like to thank Delbert Manard for his love and compassion.

She is preceded in death by her mother, June Murphy.

Raymond Saylors
 

Raymond Junior Saylors, 65, of Marmaduke passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born on January 11, 1946, in Delaplaine to the late Raymond “Willy” and Littie Levena Saylors. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marmaduke, enjoyed gardening, fishing, and raising goats and cattle.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Carol Saylors of the home; two sons, Vince (Rachel) Saylors of Imboden and Gerad Saylors of Marmaduke; two brothers, Melvin Saylors of Ravenden and Jim Saylors of Paragould; four sisters, Mildred Young of Ravenden, Earlene Williams of Paragould, Carolyn Mason of Paragould and Deborah Wheeler of Paragould; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Everett Saylors; and one grandchild, Tyler Ray Saylors.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 27th, 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Marmaduke with Rev. Chad Robinson officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Pirtle Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors at the church Sunday evening 6:00 until 8:00 under the direction of Faith Funeral Service of Manila.

Dorothy Deloris Richardson, 69 of Paragould, passed away Thursday June 23, 2011 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Dorothy was born May 8, 1942, she a retired secretary and of the Methodist belief.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer & Scott Hicks of Paragould and son Raymond Parsons, Jr. of Monette; granddaughters, Mandy Trudeau of Jonesboro and Alyssa Mann of Paragould, one sister.

Graveside services will be Friday, June 24th, 1:30 p.m. at Monette Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Reed officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Virgil Turner



Virgil “Pete” Turner, 84, of Paragould passed away Thursday, June 23, 2011. He was born June 24, 1926 in Paragould to Richard and Lillie Turner. Vigil was an amazing grandfather and a peace maker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Earline Turner; two sons, Virgil Ray Turner and Bobby Joe Turner; two brothers, Grady and Ray and one sister, Otilla Clark.

Survivors include three sons, Jimmy Lee (Rita) Turner, of MI., Elhuarn “Al” (Patty) Turner, Gary (Brenda) Turner all of Paragould; one daughter, Brenda Sue Turner of Paragould and two daughter-in-laws, Cindy and Barbara who he loved like daughters; thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday evening, June 24th, 6:00 until 9:00 and Saturday June 25th, 11:00 until 12:30 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 25th, 1:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Edgar Humphrey officiating.

Pallbearers will be the grandchildren.

Burial will follow at Brown’s Chapel Cemetery in Paragould.

Olin Ray Ridge, 66, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2011. He was born November 11, 1944 at Leachville, AR., to Elvis and Elah Imo Butler Ridge. Olin was of the Methodist faith and served in the Amy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Mavis Ridge; one sister, Shelby Schultz of Kennett, MO.; one brother, Tony Ridge of Groveland, FL.; one granddaughter, Anna Myrick and one step-brother, Donnie Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila Ridge of the home; one daughter, Tonya (Filemon) Bonilla of Batesville, AR.; one brother, Rick Ridge of Gobbler, MO.; three step-brothers, Jerry, Danny and Roger Smith of MO.; one sister, Zola Kirkpatrick of Marble Hill, MO.; two aunts, Vonah Leathers of Blytheville, AR., Imogene Wilburn of Paragould, AR.; two grandchildren Lillie Bonilla and Aaron Myrick and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, June 26th, prior to memorial services 2:00 until 3:30.

Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Everett Isom officiating.

Mike Edward Willfond
 


Mr. Mike Edward Willfond, 26, of Monroeville, AL., passed away Monday, June 20, 2011 at home. Mr. Willfond was born June 10, 1985 in Paragould, AR. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army National Guard. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and attended the McCullough Christian Center.

He married his wife Niki (Ikner) Willfond, March 10, 2010. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters Bethany and Destiny Willfond of Rector, AR.; two step-children Anna and Brady Ikner of Uriah, AL.; mother Geyvon (Murphy) and step-father Mark Crest of Corning, AR.; father Carl Willfond and step-mother Lorie of Corning, AR.; two sisters Nadine Hughes of Imboden, AR., Katrina Willfond of Corning, AR.; step sister Halie; mother-in-law Pat and father-in-law Larry Ikner.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 24th, 3:00 p.m. in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Earl Ladyman officiating. Burial will follow the service in Duty Cemetery outside of Walnut Ridge, AR. with full military honors.
Public visitation will be Thursday evening, June 23rd, 6:00 until 9:00.

Carolyn Mae Johnston, 73, passed away June 24, 2011, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She was born June 8, 1938, in Paragould to Chester Allen and Estell Johnson. She was a member of Oak Grove First Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Raymond Johnson.

She is survived by her husband, Royce Johnston of the home; two daughters, Linda Kay (Lonnie) Laws and Reba (Steve) Stevenson; two brothers, Leslie and Chester Johnson, all of Paragould; four grandchildren, Christie Retherford, Jeremy Hill, Josh Laws and Olivia Breckenridge; and nine great-grandchildren.

Wilma Jean Weatherspoon, 87, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2011, at Rector Nursing and Rehab.

She was born December 21, 1923, in Greene County to the late Marvin and Cleo (Hicks) Ellington.

Wilma was of the Baptist faith and was a loving housewife and homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Wiley Dubar and
Charles Weatherspoon; one son, Allen Weatherspoon; one daughter, Mary Nicely; three brothers, Tony, J.C. and Gipson Ellington; one sister, Lillian Cook.

She is survived by three sons, Richard Weatherspoon of Rector, Jimmy Weatherspoon of Marmaduke and Paul Dubar of Paragould; two daughters, Barbara Mullins of Paragould and Gloria Shryock of Rector; two sisters, Alma Sterling of CA .and Tommy Ellington of KS., seventeen, grandchildren; thirty-five, great-grandchildren; five, great-great-grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.

Visitation will be Sunday evening, June 26th, 5:00 until 8:00 at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector.
Graveside services be Monday, June 27th, 2:00 p.m. at Harvey’s Chapel Cemetery with Brother Kim Bridges officiating.

Rozella Edna Stanley
 



Rozella Edna Stanley, 85, of Paragould, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Greene Acres Nursing Home.

Born November 16, 1925, in Rector, Mrs. Stanley was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Joyce Stanley of Paragould; three brothers, Joe Robertson of Schugtown, Johnie Robertson of Paragould and Donald Robertson of El Cajon, California. Survivors also include several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Edna Robertson; her husband, Bob Stanley; one daughter, Rhonda Hardin; four sisters; and three brothers.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 28th, 3:00 p.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Floyd Ryles officiating. Burial will follow in New Friendship Cemetery.

David Theodore “DT” Edwards

 

David Theodore “DT” Edwards of Paragould and formerly of Ravenden passed away Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould, he was 93 years old.

He was born June 2, 1918 in Ravenden to the late John & Pearl McAbee Edwards. He married the late Junie Marie McPike on January 7, 1937 in Leachville, Arkansas, in addition to his parents and wife he is preceded in death by his son, Teddy Caroll; two brothers, Rufus & Buell Edwards; and one sister, Nevia Sissom.

“DT” was a graduate of Southern Baptist College in Walnut Ridge; he retired after many years of service to Jack’s TV and Appliance in Jonesboro. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii during World War II.

He is survived by his four children David Lee & Linda Edwards, Bono, John David Edwards, Ravenden, Billy Wayne & Rondla Edwards, Oxford, and Tywana Marie & Harlan Edwards, Paragould. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive him.

The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon, June 29th, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Higginbotham Funeral Service in Walnut Ridge, Rev. Ryan Johnston, Pastor, First Freewill Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge officiating.
Interment with military honors will follow at the Ward Cemetery near Strawberry.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be, Jacob Smith, Bryant Smith, Spencer Jackson, Jimmy Cyril Turner III, Billy Wayne Edwards, Jr., & Shannon Edwards. Thomas Caroll Edwards and Billy Joe Edwards will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Bobby L. Parks



Bobby L. Parks, 82, of Paragould, passed away Sunday, June, 26, 2011, at his home.

He was born September 24, 1928 in Boydsville, Clay County, to Jesse and Flora Parks. Mr. Parks worked for the US Postal Service for 36 years before retiring. He was a cook for Johnnie’s Restaurant and an avid Cardinals fan. He was a member of East Side Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Parks of the home; three daughters, Beverly Reddick of Paragould, Vanessa Graves, and her husband, Chris, of Memphis, Terri Campbell of Jonesboro; and two stepdaughters, Kim Johnson, and husband, Bruce, of Texarkana, and Gina Hobbs, and husband, David of Paragould. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael Lee Parks; and two brothers, Bill and Orval Parks.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening 6:00 until 8:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 29th, 10:30 a.m., at the East Side Baptist Church with Wayne Brightwell and Dennis Scudder officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.

Robert A. Stokes, 82, of Paragould, passed away Monday, June 27, 2011 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Mr. Stokes was born February 12, 1929 in Hollywood, Missouri. He was retired from masonry work and auto repair. He was a member of the Church of Christ, Masonic Lodge 1030 and the local Amateur Radio Club.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Stokes of the home; two sons, Harvey J. Stokes of Greenville, Illinois, and James L. Stokes of Cahokia, Illinois. He is also survived by one brother, Cecil L. Stokes of Holly Pond, Alabama; one sister, Elizabeth Ann Schoenfeld of Hartford, Michigan; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence V. and Mattie Stokes; and one brother, L. W. Stokes.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 30th, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Gary Cremeens officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Amos E. Gillean



Amos Edward Gillean, 92, Paragould, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. He was born November 17, 1918 in Greene County, AR the son of the late John Houston "Bud" and Sarah Margaret Smelser Gillean.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Opal Lee Gillean, sisters, Ethel, Velma, Ora, brothers, Edgar, Elwood. He was a retired school teacher at Delaplaine High School and WWII Army veteran. He was a member of Center Hill Church of Christ.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Emma Lou and John Mowry of Farmington, MO; grandson and granddaughter-in-law: Drs Kevin and Cathy Mowry of Lenexa, KS; great-grandson: Ethan Mowry; great-granddaughter: Reese Mowry.

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 30th, 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Heath Colonial Chapel. The celebration of his life will follow at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in the chapel, with Michael Cox officiating.
Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

William Ray Bobbitt

 

William Ray Bobbitt Sr., 91, of Paragould, native of the Macon Community, was born October 2, 1919. He was a World War II U.S. Marine veteran and husband of Maxine Sexton Bobbitt, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

Services will be Friday, July 1st, 11:00 a.m. at Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland, TN. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 prior to service.
Graveside services with military honors will be Friday afternoon 4:00 p.m. in Brown’s Chapel Cemetery at Paragould.

A recipient of the Purple Heart and a Christian, he enjoyed sports and special family times.

He also leaves his children, Shirley Wade of Killen, AL., Leona Taylor of Collierville, TN., Stanley Bobbitt of Bartlett, TN., and William Ray Bobbitt Jr. of Paragould; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Annie Elizabeth Grogan



Annie Elizabeth Grogan, 90, of Paragould, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at Greene Acres Nursing Home.

Mrs. Grogan was born November 24, 1920, in McNairy County, Tennessee, and was former owner of the Paragould Dairy Queen. She was a member of Village Creek Church of Christ.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Connie Grogan of Paragould; and two grandchildren, John Paul Grogan of Burlington, Vermont and Lee Ann Grogan of Roseburg, Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Grogan in 2006; one sister and three brothers.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Graveside services will be Friday, July 1st, 10:00 a.m. at Greene County Memorial Gardens with Dwight Harrison officiating. The procession will leave the funeral home at 9:40 Friday morning.

Mary Louise Hart
 


Mary Louise Miller Hart, 92, of Paragould, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011, in Paragould. She was born August 14, 1918 in Greene County, AR the daughter of the late Roy H. Miller and W. Ellen Miller. She was also preceded in death by her husband of more than 60 years, James L. Hart, two sisters, Juanita Owen and Fairy May Nelms, and one brother, Milton Miller.

She is survived by her sister, Reba Hampton of Warrensburg, MO; brother: Gus Miller of Paragould; son: James A. Hart of Helena; two daughters: Diane Blossom of Paragould, Jeannie Patterson of Alvarado, TX; four granddaughters and seven great grandchildren.

Louise was a graduate of Oak Grove High School and worked as a homemaker and in other jobs before retiring as a seamstress from Belk's Department Store. She was an active and long-time member of Griffin Memorial United Methodist Church where she served in many positions there. She enjoyed sewing and making crafts, as well as golf and fishing with her late husband.

A private family graveside service will be held at Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be sent to Griffin Memorial United Methodist Church, 524 E. Court Street, Paragould, AR 72450.

Gordon Ray Ross

 


Gordon Ray Ross, 89, of Paragould, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born August 6, 1921, in Brookland, AR. Mr. Ross was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired car salesman for Union Chevrolet in Memphis. He was a member of the West View Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Gordon R. Ross, Jr. and wife, Ruth, of Pascagoula, MS. and Emmett Fiskes and wife, Charlotte, of Omaha, AR.; two daughters, Patricia Williams of Lucedale, MS., and Freddie Johnson and husband, Ronald “Butch”, of Paragould. He is also survived by one sister, Sarah Jane Cole of Jonesboro; ten grandchildren; and twenty-three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Randall and Martha Coggins Ross; his wife, Bonevia Clark Ross; one brother, Alfred Ross; and one sister, Gayle Gibson.

Graveside services will be Saturday, July 2nd, 11:00 a.m., at Greene County Memorial Gardens with Marc Reeves officiating. Visitation will be Saturday morning 10:00- until 10:45 at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Vickey Craine



Vickey Lue Craine, 46, of Paragould passed away Thursday, June 30 2011 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. She was born July 6, 1964, in Paragould to Calvin and Wanda Hale. She was a loving mother and daughter and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Calvin Hale, a brother, Perry Hale, grandparents, R.B. and Harvey Hale and Odessa and Olden Bishop.

Survivors include her mother, Wanda Stone of Paragould; one son, Travis (Amber) Craine of Paragould; one daughter, Ashley Lewis of Paragould; two grandchildren, Nichols McCarty and Korbyn Cook; and a host of other family and friends.

Memorial services will be Sunday, July 3rd, 2:00 p.m. at the Community Fellowship Church, located on 2518 Rector Road with Rev. Cheryl Johnson officiating. The family requests private disposition with Faith Funeral Service of Manila.

Robert Whitworth
 


Robert Anthony Whitworth, 42, of Arbyrd, MO., passed away Thursday, June 30 2011 in Paragould. He was born September 16, 1968, in St. Joseph, MO., to Billy Charles and Wanda Whitworth. He was a member of the Greater Vision Pentecostal Church, loved to give of his time and talents to others and shopping for bargains at flea markets and yard sales.

Survivors include his mother, Wanda Whitworth; one daughter, Xetan Xavier Whitworth of CA; one stepson, Tim Ward of Cardwell, MO.; two stepdaughters, Heather Ward and Melonie Ward of Cardwell, MO.; one brother, Billy Charles Whitworth Jr. of Paragould; three sisters, Ronda March of Paragould, Vetta King of Malden, MO., and Angela Jones of Clarkton, MO.; seven grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Charles Whitworth Sr.

Funeral services will be Sunday, July 3rd, 2:00 p.m. at the Greater Vision Pentecostal Church in Paragould with Rev. Richard Etheridge officiating. The family will receive visitors this evening 6:00 until 8:00 under the direction of Faith Funeral Service.
