Anna Loretta Raley



Anna Loretta Raley, age 92, of Paragould passed away Sunday, June 1, 2008 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
She was born December 6, 1915 into the family of Howard and Anna Raley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Adrian and two sisters, Frances R. Hayden and Virginia R. Ephrussi.
She was retired from the United States Naval Department as an Editor and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include her two sisters, Pauline E. Raley of Paragould and Sister Anne Michele Raley of Fort Smith; three brothers, Howard T. Raley, Jr., of Atlanta, GA; James J. Raley of Paragould and Joseph Ronald Raley of Tularosa, NM. and many nieces and nephews.
A rosary service will be at Heath Funeral Home, 7:00 P.M. Thursday. A funeral mass will be Friday, June 6, at 10:00 A.M. with Father Richard Cleary and Deacon Rex Bouldin officiating.

Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Dewey Franklin Williams



Dewey Franklin Williams, 74, of Lafe passed away June 1, 2008 at Arkansas Metrhodist Medical Center. He was born May 24, 1934 to Eli and Oueda Williams at Beech Grove. He served in the Army during the Korean War, was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church and loved the outdoors and baseball.

He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-laws; Frank and Virginia Williams, Scott and Rhonda Williams, Marty and Phyllis Williams all of Paragould, Johnnie and Julie Williams of Chicago, IL., Frankie Lange of Paragould, two daughters; Terri and Twana Williams both of Paragould, three brothers and sister-in-laws; Monk and Jean Williams, Sam and Earline Williams all of Paragould, Johnnie and Phyllis Williams of Conyers, GA., three sisters; Bonnie Hanger of Farmington, MO., Janie Boyer of Greenville, MO., Erma Holcomb and her husband Bill of Pedmont, MO., eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and Helen Dearin the mother of his children.

Preceding him in death were his parents Eli and Oueda Williams, a son; Derrick Williams, a grandson; Shaune Williams, a sister; Tewanna May Williams and a brother; Donald Keith Williams.

Funeral services will be 11 AM, Thursday, June 5, 2008 at Phillips Funeral Home with Marion Gramlin and Galan Williams officiating. Burial will be at Beech Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 4, 2008 from 6-9 PM.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Todd Williams, Matt Williams, Justin Williams, Gary Williams, Daniel Bulkley and Galan Williams. Honary pallbearers are Donald Williams, Bill and Tommy Fryer.

Leroy Barnett, Jr.



Leroy Barnett, Jr., 87, of Paragould died June 1, 2008, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

Mr. Barnett was a WWII Army Veteran and retired painter for General Motors. He enjoyed lawn mowing, keeping his car and truck spotless, riding the mower with his grandchildren, Sunday afternoon drives, and animals. He was of the Church of Christ faith.

On Dec. 30, 1943, he was united in marriage to Wanda Mae (Arnold) Barnett. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Larry Barnett of Jonesboro and Robert (Cindy) Barnett of Paragould; two daughters, Linda Fraine and Cathy (Stan) Carmack, both of Paragould; two sisters, Ann Hamlett of Corning and Dorothy Lane of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; five grandsons, Shawn and Kerry Barnett, Anthony Childress, Jonathan and Jordan Carmack; and eight great-grandchildren, Preston, Taylor, Garrett, Brock, and Alexander Barnett, Alec Childress, John Mark and Abby Pruitt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Grace Barnett; brother, Bud Barnett, and sister, Rosemary Lawson.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. Service will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday with Joe Arnold officiating. Burial will be in Bond Cemetery near Knobel. Pallbearers are grandsons and great-grandsons.

Beula Wooten



Beula Wooten, 89, of Newport died Sunday, June 1, 2008

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; son, Larry; daughters, Madonna Hampton and Lavonna Jones; four brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include sons, Bill Wooten of Newport and Gary Wooten of Wilber, Neb.; daughters, Rhonda Dautrich of Atlantic Beach, N.C. and Melissa Baker of Morrisville, N.C.; brothers, Cecil and Weldon Clark, both of Paragould; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Harvey’s Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements by Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home.

Visitation is tonight, June 3rd, 6-8, in the funeral home.

Gearldine Dietz

 

Willie Gearldine Dietz, 86, of Leachville died Monday, June 2, 2008 at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould.

Born at Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Viola Ragland Killion and had lived much of her life in Oklahoma. She was the widow of Richard Dietz and had lived in Leachville for the past 17 years.

Survivors include son, Floyd Beaver of Mountain Home; daughter, Karen Hickey of Owasso, Okla.; grandsons, Shawn Hickey, Edward Beaver and Todd Beaver; nieces, Georgia Selby, JoRita Hollis and Jewell Crites; nephew, Charles Layton; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Howard Funeral Service Chapel at Leachville with the Rev. Russell Rhodes officiating. Graveside services will be Friday in Proctor Cemetery near Tahlequah, Okla.

The family will receive visitors tonight, 6-8, in the funeral home.

Rachel Walker

 


Rachel L. Walker, age 85, was born May 26, 1923, died Monday, June 2, 2008, at Ridgecrest Nursing Center. Mrs. Walker was a lifelong resident of Paragould

She was of the Baptist belief, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Walker, granddaughter, Donna Sarrels, and two sisters.

She is survived by sons, Roy Walker and Jerry Walker, both of Jonesboro; Willie Walker of Paragould; daughter, Ola Mosby of Paragould; three brothers; two sisters; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Emerson Funeral Home with Butch Parks officiating and burial to follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

Serving as pallbearers are Michael Davis, Chris Sarrels, Paul Parks, Tim Houston, Kenny Walker, Timmy Walker and James Reathbaum.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. until service time in the funeral home.

Gene Macon Powers



Gene Macon Powers, 83 of Paragould, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Greene Acres Nursing Home. He was born April 8, 1925, in Paragould to the family of Calvin and Maggie Sims Powers.

Mr. Powers was a retired painter, he was a member of the Church of Christ, having given sermons and led singing at many churches in the area in the past.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II with the 101st Airborne Division.

Survivors include a son, Danny R. Powers of Mountain Home, AR., daughter, M. Jean Stillwell Brugmann of Yuba City, CA., three grandsons, Chad R. Powers of Los Angeles, CA, Anthony B. Stillwell, Gerald W. Stillwell, and three great grandsons, Tyler D. Stillwell, Cody A. Stillwell and Tanner C. Stillwell, all of Yuba City, CA. A sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Tom Sikes and Doyle M. Powers, both of Paragould, AR.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patricia Powers, his parents, sister, Janice Dodson, and brothers, William “A.C.” Powers, G. W. “Junior” Powers and Myron “Jay” Powers. Gene requested that as he forgave all; may all forgive him!

Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday at 10:00 A.M. at Heath Colonial Chapel with L. R. Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in Pine Knot Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Children’s Home of Paragould.

Jerry Campbell



Jerry Byron Campbell, 67, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at St. Bernards Medical Center, Jonesboro.

Born February 9, 1941at Marmaduke, he worked for Wheeler Brick Co. for 17 and 1/2 years and was of the Church of Christ belief. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching old western movies.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta Bowers Campbell of the home; three sons, Jerry Campbell, Ronnie Campbell and Jason Campbell, all of Jonesboro; a daughter, Lisa Groves of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Tiffany Hicks, Andy Campbell, Morgan Campbell, Breeze Campbell, Nathan Campbell, Carson Campbell and Haley Lewis; a great-grandson, Travis Hicks; and two sisters, Jane Clayton and Reba Clayton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Thomas and Lula Wilkerson Campbell; two brothers, James Campbell and Bill Campbell; and a baby, Thomas Campbell.

Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Roller-Farmers Union Chapel with Shay Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include James Edward Campbell, Steve Groves, Chris Bowers, Jerred Hicks, Arthur Nash and Ron Eaton.

Jackie Howdeshell



Jackie Howdeshell, of Paragould, was born April 3, 1962, to the family of Kenneth and Billie Sue Howdershell.
She passed away , Sunday, June 1, 2008 at the age of 46.
She had lived in Paragould for 10 years, moving here from Michigan and was of the Christian belief.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors are a brother, Sean Howdershell of Lovonia, Mich.; a sister, Kim Howdershell of Howell, Mich.; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and a host of friends. All services are private.

Peggy Ann Reginelli



Peggy Ann Reginelli, 73, of Jonesboro passed away Friday, June 6, 2008 at St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was born October 31, 1934 at Paragould and lived at Jonesboro most of her life. She was a licensed practical nurse for St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Rogers and Evelyn Bratton Rogers.

She is survived by her husband, Phillip Reginelli of the home; one son, Phil Reginelli and wife Cathy of Memphis; four daughters, Patsy White and husband Marty of Jonesboro, Mary Catherine Reginelli of Memphis, Becky Gennings and husband Grady of Memphis and Amy Fusting and husband Kevin of Baltimore; one sister, Freddie Linebarier of Little Rock; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Emerson Memorial Chapel. Burial will be private.

Lorene Demetra Feild



Lorene Demetra Feild, 94, died Friday, June 6, 2008, in St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 10, 1914, in Lorado to the late Mr. and Mrs. William Henry. She was a lifetime resident of Jonesboro and a charter member of Central Baptist Church. Mrs. Feild was a self-employed beautician for more than 70 years.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Hal and Dee Feild of Jonesboro; one brother and his wife, Royce A. and Henrietta Henry of Avon Park, Fla.; a grandson, H.A. “Rusty” Feild IV and wife Ashley of Manor, Texas; two granddaughters, Stacy Feild Manley and husband Rodney of Brookland and Amber Feild Ellenburg and husband Dustin of Jonesboro; and 14 great-grandchildren, Joshua Manley, Kristen Manley, Caleb Manley, Rachel Manley, Rebekah Manley, JoyAnna Manley, Jeremiah Manley, Emily Ellenburg, Zachary Ellenburg, Elijah Ellenburg, Isaiah Ellenburg, Ezekiel Ellenburg, Samuel Ellenburg and Evan Ellenburg.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, H.A. Feild Jr.; and a son, H.A. “Fuzzy” Feild III.

A graveside service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Oaklawn Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Martin officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

There will be no visitation.

James Jefferson Newsom, Jr.



Born in California August 20, 1952, James Jefferson Newsom, Jr., of Arcadia, MO., passed away on Monday, June 9, 2008, at the age of 55.
Dear son of the late James Jefferson Newsom, Sr. and the late Ruth Mae Newsom; devoted father of Cherie Sue Newsom; step-father of Gerald Johnson and the late Candy Sue Johnson; dear grandfather of three granddaughters, Alexis Sue Mae Hendrix, Faith Marie Sue Hendrix and McKenzy Deeann Hendrix; dear brother of Raymond (Peggy) Newsom, Harold (Barb) Newsom, Douglas (Alice) Newsom, Bessie (Terry) Miller, Mary Kreuger and his late infant brother, Raymond Edward Newsom. He was our dear brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend to all who knew him.

He was employed as a Mechanic at General Electric in St. Louis, Mo. for 22 years before his retirement.

Edward Ellis Easley



Edward (Eddie) Ellis Easley, 67, of Paragould, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at his home. He was born May 15, 1941 in Monette, AR. He was retired from Emerson Electric.

Preceding him in death were his father Albert Ellis Easley and a grandson Andrew Bryce Easley.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Ellis) Easley; his mother, Ann Brown; six children, Zelda and Terry Brannon, Jeff and Lori Easley, David Easley, Kirk and Wendy Easley all of Paragould, Tina and Ron Hudspeth, Gary and Shelia Easley all of Jonesboro; 21 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five brothers, Sam, Donnie, Jimmie and Tommy Easley, Chuck Grigsby; five sisters, Polly Baldwin, Arletta Shelton, Jane Benson, Charlene Mitchell, Jane Easley and a host of family and friends.

Willie Heath 



Willie Cullen Heath, 84, of Trumann died Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at his home of natural causes.

Born December 13, 1923 in Greene County, Willie lived at Jonesboro before moving to Trumann in 1973. He was retired from General Electric at Jonesboro and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Nettleton Baptist Church where he was the teacher of Adult Men #4 Sunday school class.

Willie was a member of American Legion Post 42 of Trumann, a member of the GE Retirees Association, and was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Heath, last month.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, A.C. and Nellie Seay Heath; and by three sisters, Ruby Bottoms, Eva Matlock and Martha Sue Smith.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Marilyn Heath of Jonesboro and Stan and Sharon Cragg of Conway; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Sonny Whitmire of Jonesboro; two brothers, Jack Heath of West Memphis and Boyd Heath of Hot Springs; four sisters, Amy Carter and Linda Clark, both of Jonesboro, Betty Mason of El Dorado and Mary Ann Rogers of Malvern; eight grandchildren, Steven Crocker, Jessica Simpson, Laura Spires, Nathan Whitmire, Amy Whitmire, Seth Whitmire, Jennifer Gautreaux and Dylan Hurd; and 11 great-grandchildren, Tyler Simpson, Ethan Simpson, Henry Spires, Rachel Spires, Samuel Whitmire, Larkin Whitmire, Mary-Emma Whitmire, Kaid Hurd, Jack Hurd, Garrett Gautreaux and Anna Gautreaux.

Melvin Clinton Liddell



Melvin Clinton Liddell, 65, of Blytheville died Thursday, June 12, 2008, at his residence.

An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, Mr. Liddell was born Sept. 6, 1942, at Paragould. He was the owner of an antique shop, former used car dealer and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Verla Liddell of the home; and two sons, Lance Liddell of Paragould and Marc Liddell of Dyersburg, Tenn. He is also survived by two stepsons, Kevin Heatherly of Newport and Jimmy Dale Heatherly of Batesville; a stepdaughter, Karen Dilldine of Blytheville; one brother, Curt Liddell of Paragould; one sister, Laveda Smith of Paragould; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6-9 this evening in Mitchell Funeral Home at Paragould.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Jim Chamblee officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Heath Vines, Ron Liddell, Mike Smith, Ray Liddell, Ronnie Exum, Keith Liddell, Mark Coates, Barkley Exum, Spencer, Exum and Kent Moser.

Mary Margaret O'Dell

 

Mary Margaret O’Dell, 89, of Spring Branch, Texas, died Friday, June 13, 2008, at her residence.
Born May 3, 1919, in Providence, Rhode Island, Mrs. O’ Dell was a homemaker.

 
Survivors include her husband, Charles C. O’Dell of the home; one son, Charles O’Dell of Spring Branch; three daughters, Sharon Mathews of New Harmony, Indiana, Kathleen Lankford of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Stacy Nowlin of Sherman, Texas. She is also survived by five grandchildren.


The funeral service will be private with no scheduled visitation. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery with Mitchell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Stella Maxine Brookhouse

 

Stella Maxine “Mack” Brookhouse, 85, of Paragould died Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born March 16, 1923 at Paragould, she was a former employee of Wagner Electric in St. Louis, and Ed White Shoe Factory of Paragould. She was a Methodist.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Exum and husband Truman of Paragould; sister, Jennie Pribble of Prescott, Ariz.; two grandchildren and spouses, Dalana and Chuck Bolster and Heather and Bobby Towery; and five great-grandchildren, Ashton Exum, Cody and Makayla Bolster, Annie Towery and Grant Coffel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Gladys May; husband, Ralph Brookhouse; six brothers, J.D., Huey, Bob, Charles, Junior and Lonnie May; and three sisters, Mick Hogland, Sue Owens and Norma Jean Shewmaker.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Harris offciating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Robert Dukes

 


Robert "Larry" Dukes, 68, of Marmaduke died Saturday, June 14, 2008, at his home. He was born January 7, 1940, in Transylvania, LA., to the late C.B. and Letha (Fritch) Dukes and was married Aug. 19, 1961, in Lake Providence, LA., to the former Willodean Massey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Nathan Dowdy.

He was a factory worker and was a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Willodean Dukes of the home; one son, Robert Allen Dukes of Arlington, TN.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Denene and Ernie McCowley of Marmaduke, Michelle Jackson of Paragould and Lori and Marcus Dowdy of Paragould; three brothers, J.H. Dukes of Mer Rouge, LA., Paul Dukes of Tallulah, LA., and Joe Dukes of Lake Providence, LA., and eight grandchildren, Steven Hale, Mallory Hale, Andrew Dukes, Megan Dukes, Lauren Dukes, Michael Pasion, Hannah Dowdy and Colton Dowdy.

Charles Richard Reeves



Charles Richard Reeves, 45, of Paragould, died early Sunday morning, June 15, 2008 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, of long-term kidney disease.
Mr. Reeves was born January 10, 1963 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Little Rock and was a lifelong resident of Paragould. He was a member of the Seventh & Mueller Church of Christ and an employee of the Iron Horse BBQ restaurant. Richard was an avid pool player and golfer.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Cora Goins, his grandfather, Junior Reeves, uncle, David Goins and aunt, Sandra Meeker.

Shirley Patricia Ann Baine




Shirley Patricia Ann Baine, 59, of Paragould died Monday, June 16, 2008 at St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center.
Shirley was born September 1, 1948 the daughter of the late Athern Albert and Mary Virginia Austin Gray. She was retired from Ely and Walker Shirt Factory, a homemaker, and a member of Vines Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, C.R., of the home; sons and daughters-in-law: Patrick Ray and Juli Baine and Brad and Meredeth Baine, all of Paragould; sister, Sharon Kay Grimes of Paragould; grandchildren, Tyler Ogles, Johnnie Rae Baine, Luke Thomas Baine and Isaac Athern Baine.

Charles H. Freiner



Charles “Charlie” Howard Freiner, Sr., 79, of Paragould died Sunday, June 16, 2008 at St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center.
Charlie was born January 14, 1929 in St. Louis, MO. the son of the late George Washington and Hattie McGuire Freiner. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, George W. Jr. and Robert Freiner and half brother, Jack Hill.
Charlie was a retired Senior Master Sergeant from the Air Force and also served in the Navy. He served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam and the Baltic. He was a retired steelworker from Granite City, Illinois and attended Calvary Baptist Church.

 
He is survived by his wife, Ann, of the home; sons: Charles “Chuck” Freiner, Jr. and Donald “LB” Lee Freiner, both of Paragould; daughter, Debbie Stacey of South Roxana, Illinois; sister, Leota Rice of Granite City, Illinois; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Doyle James Howard, 69, of Paragould, died Monday, June 16, 2008 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Doyle was born on September 9, 1938 in Greene County the son of the late Dave and Della Howard. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Benny Rogers, Albert Rogers, David Laverl Howard; sisters, Wanda Warren, Emma Rawls, Thelma Wiseman and Viva Andis.
Mr. Howard was a dairy and crop farmer and a member of Village Creek Church of Christ.

He is survived by his sons: Chris Peterson of Mayo, Florida, Larry Howard and Kenny Howard both of Paragould; daughters: Karen Rogers of Paragould and Belinda Phillips of Franklin, Arkansas; brothers: Amos Rogers, Carl Rogers, both of Paragould, Frank Howard of Marmaduke; sister: Bert Forbs of Paragould; eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gene Weatherford, 70, of Paragould, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
A US Navy veteran, Mr. Weatherford was born February 11, 1938 in Paragould. He retired from St. Joe Lead Company and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Weatherford of the home; three sons, Keith Weatherford of Paragould, David Weatherford, Rodney Weatherford and his wife, Diann, all of Festus, Missouri; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jessica Bell of Montana, Rhonda and Dan Lamure and Tina and Billy Gray, all of Festus. He is also survived by three stepsons, Richard Turner and Randy Turner, both of Paragould, David Turner of Lubbock, Texas; four half-brothers, Eddie Weatherford, and Ronnie Weatherford, both of Paragould, Jeff Weatherford, and Neal Weatherford; a half-sister, Linda Weatherford; fourteen grandchildren; two step granddaughters; and by nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlie and Ada Weatherford; and three brothers.

Visitation will be 6:00-9:00 p.m., Wednesday at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Funeral services will be 1:30 P. M. Thursday, June 19th, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with James Swafford officiating. Burial will be in Wood’s Chapel Cemetery.

Marjorie O. Williamson

 

Marjorie O. Williamson, 94, of Paragould, died Thursday, June 19, 2008, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital, Jonesboro.
Born October 17, 1913, in Bay Village, AR., Mrs. Williamson was a retired RN, and a former employee of Dickson Memorial Hospital, and Arkansas Methodist Hospital. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Paragould, and a former member of the Arkansas Nursing Association.

Survivors include one stepson, Pete Williamson of Phoenix, AZ. one stepdaughter, Jerry Gardner of Memphis; one nephew, Scott Hecker of Maumelle; and three nieces, Sherry Ferrell of Florida, Shirley Brown and Carol Goldsmith, both of OK. She is also survived by seven step grandchildren, Cheddy Williamson, Jo Beth Bailey, Lisa Page, Donna Williamson, Marc Gardner, Robbie Gardner and Mac Gardner; and by several step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Williamson, three brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 21st from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, June 21st at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Kennett, MO., with Dr. Bill Steeger officiating. The procession will leave Mitchell Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m.

Thelma Sanders Bennett, age 87, of Paragould, passed away June 17, 2008, in Memphis, TN. She was born August 28, 1920, in Jonesboro to the late Henry Byron and Cora Alice Sanders.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Alvin Lee Bennett; two brothers J. Q. and Gaylon Sanders; three sisters, Ida May Sites, Pauline Payne and Barbara Sanders.

She is survived by two sons, Phillip C. Bennett of Ft. Myers, FL. and John D. Bennett of Paragould; two daughters, Betty Rae Howe of Melbourne, FL., and Sandia K. Mauch of Corpus Christi, TX; three sisters Verna Merle Chapman and Sybil Nations both of Paragould and Roma Kirkland of Falls Church, VA.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Larry D. Winslow, 51, of Walnut Ridge passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2008.

Born November 26, 1956, in Sacramento, CA., he was a cement layer for a construction company and was of the Christian belief.

Survivors include a son, Reginald Winslow, Rio Linda, CA.; a daughter, Andrea Winslow, Chanute, KS.; his parents, Thomas J. and Juanita Winslow, Maynard; two brothers, Tommy Winslow, Redding, CA., and Tim Winslow, Pocahontas; a sister, Tina Winslow-Jones, Sacramento; and four grandchildren.

Darrell Edward Lynn



Darrell Edward Lynn, 57, of Paragould, formerly of Memphis, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at his home.

Born at Manila, he had been a longtime Memphis resident before moving to Paragould in 2005. He had worked as an ironworker and was a member of Ironworkers Local Union No. 167.

Darrell was a member of the Professional Disc Golf Association and was instrumental in implementing the disc golf course in Shelby Forest State Park at Memphis. He was inducted into the Disc Golf Hall of Fame in 1994 and served as the administrator of the PDGA from 1986 to 1993. Darrell diligently dedicated himself to the progression of the sport and the representation of the players. Throughout many board changes in the PDGA, it was often Darrell who shouldered critical responsibilities and took on tasks necessary to ensure the integrity of the organization. The early proliferation of professional disc golf around the world would not have been possible without the perseverance and personal sacrifices of Darrell Lynn.

Darrell began demonstrating his skills as a leader at an early age, serving as the president of the Delta Sigma Fraternity at West Memphis High School, where he was a 1968 graduate.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas and Cora Lee Lynn and Henry and Izora Wright.

He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Carlean Lynn of Paragould; his brother, Bruce Lynn and wife Taryn of Greenville, TX; three sisters, Connie Whitman of Paragould, Teresa Kelly of Little Rock and Carla Craig and husband Carl of Cookeville, TN.; and seven nephews, six nieces, one great-niece and one great-nephew.

Graveside funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday in Manila Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila. Family and friends will meet at 1:30 Monday in Howard Funeral Chapel for the procession to the cemetery.

Gary Leroy Drury



Gary Leroy Drury, age 49, of Leachville, died Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould.
Born at Monette, he was the son of the late Jack and Hettie Wrather Drury and was a lifelong Leachville resident. Mr. Drury was a retired farmer and was currently a service station attendant for Metheny’s Midway Station.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry and Yogie Drury and a sister, Brenda Sharp.

Survivors include: five brothers, Buddy Drury of Tupelo, Miss., Paul Drury of Benson, Ariz., Ricky Drury of Marmaduke, Carl Drury and Tommy Drury, both of Paragould; five sisters, Nina Thomas of DeSoto, Mo., Ruby Thomas of Clinton, Ark., Peggy Greer, Teresa Greer, and Dot Akin, all of Leachville.

Rosevelt Burman, 73, of Paragould died Friday, June 20, 2008, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital.

Mr. Burman was retired from General Motors. He and his wife owned Burman
Jewelry store at Hardy for many years. He served in the Army during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Suk Yull Burman; daughter, Tammy Burman of Paragould; and sons, Carl Burman of Michigan, Jim Burman of California and Gary Burman of Florida.

Born December 31, 1910, Vera Moline LeMasters, 97, of Jonesboro died Saturday, June 21, 2008 in Skilcare Nursing Center.

She was a homemaker and member of the Nazarene church.

Voncile Stanley



Voncile Stanley, 83, of Powhatan died Sunday, June 22, 2008, at her residence. She was born on December 17, 1924, at Dothan, AL. the daughter of Jess and Hettie Wright Hawkins. She was united in marriage to Parker Leon Stanley in 1943 in Miami, FL. He preceded her in death December 31, 1989.

In addition to her parents and husband, Voncile was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Brenda Stanley.

Mrs. Stanley was a retired school teacher, a member of Black Rock United Methodist Church, a volunteer for Lawrence Memorial Hospital, the ladies auxiliary, past president of the Eastern Star, Arkansas Retired Teachers Association, Lawrence County Extension Club, and the ladies Koffee Kluch Klub. Vonny loved to travel and donate her time to the community. Generous of heart, lover of life. Her greatest joy came with spending time with her family.

Survivors include one son, Freddy Leon Stanley of Paragould; three daughters, Sherry Jean Johnson of Farmington, MO., Parker Diane Woodson of Powhatan and Peggy Joyce Smith of Black Rock; two sisters, Elizabeth Lund and Billy Jean Holman, both of Muskegon, MI.; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends will mourn her passing.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday at graveside in Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould. Jerry Pentecost officiating.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., June 24th at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel in Walnut Ridge.

Tommie Russell



Tommie Russell, 92, of Corning passed away Monday, June 23, 2008, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

Mr. Russell was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He was a truck driver and member of Success First Baptist Church at Success.

On Sept. 1, 1961, he was united in marriage to Faye Gambill. She preceded him in death Sept. 26, 2002.

Survivors include two sons, Larry (Mary) Russell of Paragould and John (Pam) Russell of Manchester, Mo.; one daughter, Audrey (Tim) Russell of Saint Ann, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Phyllis (Vern) Young of Knobel; one brother, Inos Russell of Anderson, Ind.; three sisters, Wilma Riley of Middleton, Ind., Elsie Elder of Fairmount, Ind., and Mildred Cannell of Atlanta, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Audrey Russell; wife, Faye Russell; three brothers, Elmer “Bud” Russell, Wilbur Russell and Elbert Russell; and two sisters, Ellen Koons and Lucille Russell.

Services will be in Ermert Funeral Home Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Steve Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Corning Cemetery.

Gladys M. Parsons went home to be with her Saviour, Tuesday morning, June 24th, 2008 at the age of 90 years and 11 months. Mrs. Parsons was born July 25, 1917 in Greene County, AR.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Parsons; a baby son; five sisters and one brother.

She is survived by one brother, Dallas Hyatt of Paragould; two sisters, Hannah Raley of Wynne and Mable Birdsong of Nashville, TN.

Mrs. Parsons was a member of the First Baptist Church in Paragould for many years.

John Milton Wroble



John Milton Wroble, 59, of Paragould died Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 24, 1948, at Chicago, IL. He formerly worked as a roofer at Chicago, owned and operated B&W Auto Sales at Paragould, and worked as a casino dealer for Hollywood Casino at Tunica, MS. He played a huge role in developing the Paragould community soccer program. John was of the Catholic belief.

He was preceded in death by his father, Milton Wroblewski.

Survivors include his wife, Gayle Wroble of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Amanda Throgmartin Wroble of Chicago, IL; mother, Frances Novak Wroblewski of Portage, WI. and one sister, Deborah Wroblewski of Riverside, IL.

Agnes Viola Blankenship, 83, of Paragould has gone to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at her home.

She was born January 25, 1925 in Greenville, S.C. the daughter of the late Harry and Alpha Cooper. She was also preceded in death by her sister and two brothers.

She was retired from Bussman Fuse in St. Louis and was a member of Grace United General Baptist Church.

Born May 23, 1925 in Lester, AR., he was a retired heavy machinery operator, and a member of 2nd and Walnut Church of Christ.

Ethel Louise Gamble, 85, of Black Oak, died Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at her home.

She was born April 2, 1923, in Lester, AR., the daughter of the late John and Jennie Bell Cable Chipman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Benton “T.B.” Gamble; son, John Robert Gamble; grandson; four brothers; and three sisters. She was a homemaker and a member of Black Oak Baptist Church.

 
She is survived by her sons Roger Benton Gamble of East Prairie, MO., David Gamble of Jonesboro, Jerry Max Gamble of Grady, AR., Rolen Keith Gamble of Black Oak; daughter, Sharon Kay Gamble Rivera of Plano, TX. brother, Preston Chipman of Cherokee Pass, MO., one grandson; three granddaughters; and two great-granddaughters.

Nettie Faye Bowman



Nettie Faye Bowman, 69, of Marmaduke died Thursday, June 26, 2008, at Evergreen Healthcare at Rector after an extensive illness.

Born July 7, 1938, to the late Rev. John Markin and Gracie Markin, she was a lifelong area resident, member of First Baptist Church at Marmaduke and a retired pharmacy sales clerk.

Survivors include her husband, Nolan Bowman of Marmaduke; and two sisters, Pat Markin Keith of CA. and Lori Jean Markin Challenger of KY.

Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Denise P. Bowman; five brothers, Derring, Dual, Oschal, Neal and James Markin; and one sister, Paula Poe.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Harvey’s Chapel Cemetery at Marmaduke with the Rev. Kim Bridges officiating. Faith Funeral Service of Manila is in charge of arrangements.

Paul Keith Adams



Paul Keith Adams, 51, of Paragould died Thursday, June 26, 2008, at his residence.

He was born January 2, 1957, at Jonesboro into the family of Millard T. and Mary Lou Adams. He graduated in 1975 from Jonesboro High School and was in the U.S. Army for 17 years where he served as a Ranger.

Mr. Adams retired after six years with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the Assembly of God.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Lou Thomas of Paragould; two sons, Chris Bull of Del Rio, CA., and Phillip Hemesath of Des Moines, IA; two daughters, Des Ree Adams of Jonesboro and Betina Abernathy of Paragould; two grandchildren, Kaileigh Bull and Breanna Abernathy; two brothers, Daniel Adams of Jonesboro and Tim Adams of Madison, WI.; and two sisters, Kerri Parham of New Orleans and Cheri Bryant of Weiner.

He was preceded in death by his father, Millard T. Adams; and grandparents, Cecil and Hattie DeWitt and John and Nora Adams.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 3rd in Roller-Farmers Union Chapel with Eddie Hillis officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will include Mark DeWitt, Craig DeWitt, Paul DeWitt, Damian DeWitt, Robert DeWitt Jr., Randy Kaffka and Phil Stewart.

William Grayson Branch



A retired Uniroyal employee and a resident of Denham Springs, LA. passed away Thursday, June 26, 2008, at Promise Hospital at Ochsner Medical Center of Baton Rouge. He was 94, born June 6, 1914, in Paragould, AR.

Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., 5-7 p.m., today. Graveside services will be at Augusta Memorial Park, Augusta, AR., 11 a.m., July 1, 2008, under the direction of Rhodes Funeral Home of Augusta.

Grayson is survived by his nieces, Barbara B. Caputa of Baton Rouge, LA. and Jennie Lynn Holmes of Bay, AR.; nephew, Alva Branch Jr. of Baton Rouge, LA. He is also survived by numerous other nieces and nephews and his neighbors, Robert and Nita Kimble.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Bonner Kittrell Branch; parents, Joseph S. Branch and Sara Frances Thomason Branch of Paragould, AR.; two sisters, Lois Magnolia Jobe and Bernice Newberry; four brothers, Hillary, Jeff, Shirl and Alva Branch.

Grayson served in the Army at Cold Bay, AK., then Germany in the 7th Armored Division from October 7, 1941 to October 18, 1945.

Ada May Stout



Ada May Weatherly Stout, 99, of Paragould passed away peacefully on Friday, June 27, 2008, in Belle Meade Nursing Center.

Mrs. Stout was born February 11, 1909, in Greene County, the daughter of the late Thomas and Florence Weatherly. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Buck Stout; and sisters, Vivian Taylor and Lorene McKelvey.

Mrs. Stout was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking and quilting.

Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Inez and Gene McPherson and Ruth and L.D. Dunaway, all of Paragould; four grandchildren, Melinda Dixon, Robbie Dunaway, Cindy Dortch and David McPherson; and six great-grandchildren, Amber Cavaness, Sarah Collier, Davina Caveness, Christina Cavaness, Morgan McPherson and Michael Dixon.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 tonight in Heath Funeral Home.

Family and friends will meet in Pine Log Cemetery at Brookland for a graveside service at 2 p.m. Monday.

Memorials may go to Focus Inc. or Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

Billie Jean Hopkins



Billie Jean (Clayton) Hopkins, age 40, of Rector, formerly of Paragould, passed away at her residence on Friday, June 27, 2008. She was born November 2, 1967 in Pontiac, MI. to the late Billy Edward Clayton and Bonnie (Batten) Spurlock.

Survivors are her husband, Sam Davis of the home; her mother and stepfather, Bonnie and Bill Spurlock of Rector; son Chris Davis of Fayetteville; daughters Jennifer Davis of OK.,and Kimberly Davis of TN.; sisters Kami Kay (and Paul) Chism of Rector, and Cindy Vanphool of FL.; a brother, Kevin Spurlock of AR.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 30 at 2 p.m. in the Irby Funeral Home chapel in Marmaduke with Brother David Floyd officiating. Interment will be in the Ramer’s Chapel cemetery. Visitation will be today from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the Irby Funeral Home chapel in Marmaduke.

Pallbearers will be Chris Davis, David Clayton, Chad Wheat, Brett Clayton, Kevin Travis and Jamie Floyd.

Richard Paul Poe



Richard Paul Poe, 39, born January 13, 1969, at Paragould, passed from his earthly life on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at his home.

He is survived by his mother, Shirley Stevenson; his father, Dennis Poe; stepmother, Theresa Poe; siblings, Michelle, Brad and Whitney Poe; maternal grandmother, Dubbie Gay; and many other relatives and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Cleo and Roxie Poe; maternal grandfather, Paul Gay; and a brother, Tanner Poe.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Thursday with funeral services beginning at 4 p.m. in Center Hill Chapel in Phillips Funeral Home at Paragould.

The body will be cremated.

Ethan Dale Ray Roberts


Ethan Roberts who was 1 year old went home to join the angels in heaven on June 28, 2008.

Ethan was born June 18, 2007, to Kenneth Roberts and Kelly Honeycutt. They were both residents of Marmaduke.

He is survived by his parents; two half sisters, Barbara Roberts of Paragould and Amanda Roberts of Kenentt; his paternal grandparents, Barbara and T. Wayne McQuay; his aunt, Murinda Roberts; two uncles, Sam Roberts and Robert Roberts, along with a host of others that loved him.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., July 3, 2008, at the Irby Funeral Home in Marmaduke with Bro. Kim Bridges officiating. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Interment will be at the Hartsoe Cemetery at Marmaduke.

Dawn Renee Wynn Smith , 43, of Paragould, died on Sunday, June 29, 2008 at St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center, Jonesboro.
Dawn was born October 12, 1964, in Virginia Beach, VA.the daughter of Betty Hackworth and the late Carl Wynn. She was also preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.

 
Survivors include her husband, Tim Smith of Jonesboro; daughter, Kelsey Smith of Paragould; mother and stepfather, Betty and Winford “Wink” Hackworth of Paragould; brother and sister-in-law, Marty and Melissa Wynn of Walcott; nieces and nephew-in-law: Kristin and Jason Summers of Paragould; Brittany Wynn of Fayetteville; Katie Wynn of Walcott; nephew, Zachary “Zack” Wynn of Walcott; great nephews: Isaac and Zeke Summers of Paragould; several aunts, uncles and cousins and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Larry and Janette Smith of Jonesboro.

 
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 1st at Heath Funeral Home. Her life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Reverend Dennis Strope and Kenny Mauldin officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery.

Reba Maxine Harrison

 

 
Reba Maxine Harrison, 69, of Knoxville, TN. formerly of Paragould died Monday, June 30, 2008 . She was born August 13, 1938 in Paragould to the late Paul and Euna (Lovelady) Pillow. She was also preceded by her husband, Lewis James Harrison; one son, James Arvin Harrison; and one brother, Joseph Mack Pillow. Reba was a homemaker and a former member of East Side Baptist Church.

 
She is survived by two daughters Edith Seward of Knoxville and Kristie Hogan of Paragould; one sister, Pauletta Tobey of Paragould; one brother, Olen Pillow of Paragould; and six grandchildren.

 
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Reverend Dennis Scudder officiating. Burial will follow at Brown’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday at Heath Funeral Home.

Billy Earl Brewington

 


Billy Earl Brewington, 74, of Paragould, died Monday, June 30, 2008 at his home. He was born August 26, 1933 in Tyronza, AR. the son of the late Harley and Inez Hindman Brewington. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Ann Beith.

He retired as plant manager of Memphis Easel and Wire and was of Baptist belief.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie Brewington of the home; sons: William Brewington of Jonesboro, Michael Brewington of Columbus, IN., Bobby Carmikle of Trumann, AR., Jerry Carmikle of Columbia, SC., Scott Brewington of Southaven, MS., Tim Brewington of Paragould; daughter, Deanna Currie of Columbia, TN.; eighteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.


His life will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 3rd at Heath Colonial Chapel with Reverend Paul Currie officiating. Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.
