Patricia Ann Markum
Patricia Ann Markum, 64, of Paragould passed away Friday, June 1, 2007, in St. Bernards
Hospital at Jonesboro.
She was born Nov. 1, 1942, in Greene County and lived most of her life in the Paragould
area. She was retired from Emerson Electric after 37 years and was of the Methodist
belief.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Pauline Jackson Back.
Survivors include her companion of more than 20 years, W.D. "Dub" McCormack of
the home; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Valerie Markum of Paragould; daughter and
son-in-law, Laura and Gerald Ellis of Lafe; and sister, Martha Weatherford of Paragould.
She was known as Nanny Pat by her six grandchildren, Alex Markum, Sydney Markum, Tabitha
Hyten, Brandon Ellis, Andrew Ellis and Jeffrey Ellis. She also has six
great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. in Heath Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Max
Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Nadine Malone
Nadine Malone, daughter of the late Tony Anthtony and Hattie Agnes Wagster Howerton, was
born August 5, 1919, in Leachville, Arkansas and passed away June 1, 2007 at the Greene
Acres Nursing Home in Paragould at the age of 87 years.
She married Joe Malone August 14, 1940. He preached her in death in 1974. Mrs. Malone
graduated from Hornersville High School in 1938.
Survivors include a daughter, Jodene Malone Roe of Paragould; a sister, Jenny Kulas of
Florida; two grandchildren, Tony A. Roe and wife, Jennifer, of St. Louis, Mo., and Keilah
Shoffner and husband, Travis, of Aviano, Italy; and four great-grandchildren, Mikala and
Tieran Shoffner of Italy, and Emilyann and Aley Roe of St. Louis and other relatives and
many friends. She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the McDaniel Chapel in Senath with the Rev.
Dale Rickman officiating. Burial will follow in the Lulu Cemetary near Senath.
Visitation will begin Thursday at 10 a.m. and will continue until 9 p.m. at the McDaniel
Chapel in Senath. McDaniel Funeral Service in Senath is in charge of arrangements.
Betty Jane Key
Betty Jane Key, 80, of Memphis, Tenn. died Friday June 1, 2007 at Methodist University
Hospital. She was born May 15, 1927 in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of the late Franklin
S. and Della A. Carpenter Key. She was formerly employed with Memphis Title Company. She
was a member of numerous genealogical associations in Virginia, Arkansas, Mississippi and
Missouri and was a Matriarch of the First Block of North Auburdale.
Betty is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Philip D. and Carolyn Key of St. Louis,
Mo.; a grandson in heart, Brian Phebus of Memphis; a neighbor, Ray; and several nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Tim
Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery. The family will receive
friends from 7-9 p.m., Friday at Heath Funeral Home.
Bernice Mae Fossett
Bernice Mae Fossett, 80, of Delaplaine died Sunday, June 3, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical
Center in Jonesboro.
Born Nov. 1, 1926, in Greene County, she was the daughter of Basel and Aris Copeland
Nation. She was a retired factory worker and a homemaker. She was a member of the
Delaplaine Church Of Christ.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Marcy "Mark" Fossett; her
parents; and by one great-grandchild.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Weldon and Sharon Fossett of Huntingtown,
Md., and Wayne and Marcie Fossett of Owings, Md.; one daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and
Dan McInnis of Madison, Miss.; three half-brothers, Carl Roberson of West Plains, Mo.,
Alton Roberson of Holder, Mo., and Jerry Roberson of Texas; one half-sister, Faye Spoor of
Texas; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev.
L.R. Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Mary Kathryn Wilcox
The Lord granted Kathryn Wilcox, 80, victory over Parkinson's Disease on Sunday, June 3,
2007.
Mary Kathryn Wilcox was born Aug. 5, 1925, to Ed and Bessie Curtis Wright in Rector.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouses and her sister.
Kathryn lived and worked in Paragould the majority of her life. She was active in
Paragould B&PW and a member of First Baptist Church. An avid bowler, her teams won
several league championships. She enjoyed fishing, travel and being with her
grandchildren.
Mrs. Wilcox is survived by three daughters, Barbara Arnold and husband Alvin, Sharon L.
Walton of Paragould and Kathy Winberry and husband Larry of Piggott; five grandsons, Todd
Dearing and Nicki Arnold of Paragould, Cliff Winberry of Piggott, Clay Winberry of Oxford,
Miss., and Craig Winberry of Bentonville; and one granddaughter, Shayla Blackford of
Paragould.
She is also survived by seven great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter and a host of
friends and relatives.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. today at Paragould Memorial Gardens under the
direction of Heath Funeral Home.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, remembrances be made to the Parkinson's
Foundation, First Baptist Church, Mission Outreach or Meals on Wheels.
Frances Martin DeBons
Frances Martin DeBons, 85, of Paragould died on June 4, 2007, at her residence. She was a
long time member of St. Marys Altar Society, Fox Hills Country Club and St.
Marys Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Florian and Mary Ungerank Martin; sisters, Emma
and Louise Martin; and brothers, Florian and Albert Martin.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Eugene J. DeBons of the home; sons and
daughters-in-law, Gene and Cinda DeBons of Richmond, Texas, John and Pam DeBons, Mike and
Brenda DeBons of Dumas, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy Bay of Sherwood and
Phyllis and Ralph Grimes of El Paso, Texas; a sister, Anna Guard of Paragould, 10
grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Marys

Catherine Wilson Luttrell
Catherine Luttrell, of Knobel, was born in Cherry Valley, June 17, 1937. She died June 4,
2007 in Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould. She was 88
Survivors include four sons, Scott Brown of Clinton, Ill., Kenny Brown of Knobel, Greg Coe
of Corning and Tyrone Coe of Knobel; one daughter, Rhonda Halstead of Brookland; two
stepsons, Gary Luttrell of Knobel and Doug Luttrell of Corning; one stepdaughter, Meredith
Luttrell of Paragould; two brothers, J.E. Wilson of Newaygo, Mich., and J.B. Wilson of
Scottville, Ky.; two sisters, Josephine Miller of Wynne and Christine White of Whitehall,
Mich.; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday in Ermert Funeral Home at Corning.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday at Ermert Funeral Home. Burial will be in
Hosea Cemetery at Knobel.
Bonnie Jean Davis
Bonnie Jean Bateman Davis, age 85, of Grand Rapids, MI., formerly of Paragould, died
Tuesday, June 5, at Skill Continuing Care Center in Grand Rapids.
She was born March 20, 1922, in Rector, the daughter of the late Sidney and Stella Morley
Bateman.
Her husband, A. Carl Davis; sisters, Berniece Morris and Ann Kang; and brother, Harry
Bateman; also preceded her in death.
She retired from Grand Rapids to Paragould in 1976 and was a member of Griffin Memorial
United Methodist Church in Paragould. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and a
very special aunt to many nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her daughter, Sue Dykema; son and daughter-in-law, Van and Sue Davis
both of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Michael and Tiffany Dykema of Keller, Texas, Cheryl
Dykema of Grand Rapids, Jodi and Scott Delgado of Vienna, Va., Jill and T.K. Kappleman of
Brookfield, Wis., and Lisa and Parker Frost of Knoxville, Tenn.; brothers and
sisters-in-laws, Wallace and Phyllis Bateman of Grand Rapids, W.R. "Dub" and
Joyce Bateman of Rector, Velis "Tootie" and Kathy Bateman of Marmaduke, Darrell
and Helen Bateman of Owasso, Mich. and Jerry and Shirley Bateman of Knobel; sister-in-law,
Erma Bateman of Paragould; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Tiffany Raines, 30, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at her residence in Paragould. She was
born March 26, 1977 in Blytheville to the late Kenneth Raines and Jerris Nelson Raines.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Raines, and grandparents, R.B. and Argie
Raines.
Survivors include her mother, Jerris Raines of Paragould; two sons, Kyle McFarland and
Carson Parker, both of Paragould; a daughter, Aubrey McFarland of Paragould; a brother,
Kenny Raines of Gatewood, Mo.; a sister, Krystal, and husband Dustin, Davidson of
Paragould; and grandparents, George and Betty Nelson of Kennett, Mo.

James Delmar Williams
James Delmar Williams, 77, of Oak Grove Heights died Thursday, June 7, 2007, at his home.
He was born March 7, 1930, in Gainesville, the son of the late Rupert Williams and Hazel
Lake Williams.
James served our country for 21 years in the Air Force and served in both the Korean and
Vietnam Wars. He was a devoted member of his church, Rector Primitive Baptist Church, a
proud father and grandfather and enjoyed playing golf and was a Volkswagen enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Hazel Gray Williams; three daughters and
sons-in-law, Tammy and Ted Schug of Paragould, Malinde and Mike Peleg of Overland Park,
Kan., and Myra and Darin Twitty of Paragould; one son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Cherly
Williams of Jonesboro; four grandchildren, Jake, Cory, Christopher and Mikayla; two
sisters, Ruth Love of Paragould and Sadie Allmon of Blytheville; and a brother, Buford
Williams of Lafe.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 this evening at Heath Funeral Home.
His life will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Sunday at Heath Colonial Chapel with John Cooper and
Elder Devon Horton officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors at
Gainesville Cemetery.

Gary McDaniel Parker, 38, of Paragould, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007. Mr. Parker was born
January 23, 1969, he was a dry wall worker and a member of Monette Church of Christ
Survivors include his wife, Tammy L. Parker; his mother, Dorothy Howard; two sons, Gary
Michael Parker, and Zachary Ryan Parker; two daughters, Cortney Lashea Parker and Talissa
Renee Parker, all of Paragould. He is also survived by one stepson, Blaine Andrew Herman
of Newport; one stepdaughter, Dominoque Nichole Walker of Brookland; three brothers,
Michael Howard, Barry Lynn Parker, and Ricky Hollis; one half-brother, Jerry Max Parker;
two sisters, Lana Hackworth, all of Paragould and Christy Akin of Rector.
He was preceded in death by his father, Winston Max Wink Parker; and by two
brothers, Larry Glen Parker, and Steve Howard.

Iva Mae (Allison) Witcher, age 77, of Paragould, died Friday, June 8, 2007 at Arkansas
Methodist Medical Center. She was born March 6, 1930 in Ravenden Springs, Arkansas the
daughter of the late John Ora and Bessie Evelyn (Davis) Allison. She was also preceded in
death by three sisters and a brother. She was a homemaker and of Baptist belief.
She is survived by her husband Junior Paul Witcher of the home; daughters, Wilma Rita
Starr Graves, Georgia Rogers and Pansy Lou Nomany all of Paragould; son, Bobby Dean
Witcher of Rector; sister, Joy Obarts of Pocahontas; brothers, William Allison of

thirteen great-grandchildren.

Onie D. Hanks, 68, of Jonesboro, died Friday, June 8, 2007, at St Bernards Regional
Medical Center. She was born August 23, 1938 in Light, Arkansas the daughter of the late
Hop and Callie (Walker) Farthing. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Talmage
Hanks; son, Kenneth Sheppard; daughter, Linda Grooms; and brother, Wes Farthing. She was a
homemaker and of Baptist belief.
She is survived by her daughters: Karen Hall and her husband, Chris, of Light; Betty
Phillips and her companion, Allen Bailey, of the home; Edna Dulaney and her fiancé, Tony

Violet Jeanie Martin, 78, of Williford died Friday, June 8, 2007, in Williford.
She is survived by her husband, Sims Martin; two daughters, Brenda Irvin of Paragould and
Linda Ezell of Jonesboro; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Marie Gramling
Marie (Russom) Gramling, 77, of Stanford, died Sunday, June 10, 2007, at Northeast
Arkansas Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born Feb. 25, 1930, in Greene County, the
daughter of the late William Russom and Cora (Allison) Russom. She was also preceded in
death by her husband, Walter Lee Gramling; sisters, Audrea Auston and Haily Russom; and a
brother, E.M. Russom. Marie was a custodian at Paragould Junior High School and was a
member of Stanford Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie Pillow; son, Ricky Gramling; four brothers, M.A.
Russom and E.V. Russom, both of Stanford; Jerry Russom and Ray Gene Russom, both of
Evening Star; sister, Genieva Konig of Colorado; eight grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren.

Leon Richard Yingst
Leon Richard Yingst, 77, of Paragould, died Sunday, June 10, 2007, at St Bernards Regional
Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born Aug. 13, 1929, the son of the late Harry and
Christine (Schucker) Yingst. He printed Christian literature for 30 years, was an Air
Force Veteran and of the Pentecostal belief.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Evelyn (Dunstan) Yingst, of the home; five daughters,
Natalie Ruth Moore, Jo Paulette Moore and Patty Jo Boardman, all of Paragould, Zettie
Patrice Brown of Brewerton, N.Y., and Ruth Evelyn Appleby of Baldwinsville, N.Y.; two
sons: Leon Richard Yingst, Jr. of Syracuse, N.Y., and Harry Leon Yingst of Paragould;
three sisters, Ruth Summer of Colorado, Gladys Blouch of Pennsylvania, and Anna Baker of
Indiana; 23 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
His life will be celebrated at the New Life Temple Ministries, 401 S. 12th Avenue in
Paragould, at 10 a.m. today, with the Reverend Jerry Hays officiating. Interment will
follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Leon Yingst, Jr., Thomas Bud

Betty Sue Farley
Betty Sue Farley, 75, of Paragould, died Monday, June 11, 2007, at Arkansas Methodist
Medical Center. Mrs. Farley, was born December 2, 1931, whe was a homemaker and of the
Methodist faith. Survivors include three sons, Gary Farley of Mansfield, Ohio, Terry
Farley and Keith Farley both of Paragould; two daughters, Sue Friar of Paragould, and Beth
Ward of Powhatan. She is also survived by one brother, Melbourn Wilson of Portland,
Oregon; one sister, Carol Phillips of Marmaduke; seven grandchildren; and nine great
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Lydia Wilson; her husband, James Farley;
three brothers; and a grandson.

Drendia Darlene Coleman, 47, of Paragould, died Monday, June 11, 2007, at St. Bernard's

A homemaker, Mrs. Coleman was born September 25, 1959, in Paragould. She was a member of
Browns Chapel Baptist Church.

He was born Aug. 22, 1978, to Donald and Carol Nordmeyer.

J.B. Harris
The Rev. James Benjamin Harris, of Paragould, known to all as J.B., who spent his adult
life in service to the Lord, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday night, June 12, 2007.
J.B. was born on July 27, 1927, in St. Louis. With 79 happy, fruitful years, his wife of
58 years, Louise, was at his side in their home as he peacefully left this world bound for
a better one in Heaven.
Brother J.B. lived out his favorite Bible scripture daily from Proverbs 3:27, "Do not
withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act." He was
always generously giving of his time, energy and money to help his fellow man. The memory
of his good deeds and gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of his family members and
many friends.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George William and Thelma Cothern Harris, and two
sisters, Mozelle Blanton and Catherine Holden.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Edrington Harris of the home; two sons and
daughters-in-law, Eddie and Susan Harris, and Nelson and Mary Harris, all of Paragould;

Allen Lee Bullinger
Allen Lee Bullinger, 89, of Paragould, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at Arkansas
Methodist Medical Center. Born Jun 20, 1917, he was a retired groundskeeper for the
Paragould Country Club and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Lorrie Bullinger of Jonesboro; four sons, Bobby A. Bullinger
and Tony R. Bullinger, both of Paragould, Larry G. Bullinger of Memphis, and Mac Bullinger
of Lafe; four daughters, Peggy I. White and Kay Jolly, both of Marmaduke, Thelma L.
Hamilton and Nancy L. Scroggins, both of Memphis. He is also survived by one sister,

Myrle Walker Call, 86, of Paragould, formerly of Little Rock, died Wednesday, June 13,
2007, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
Myrle was a beautician. Born July 3, 1920, in Lafe to Ben and Nola Walker, she was a
member of the First Baptist Church in Little Rock.
Survivors include two grandsons and their wives, Todd and Tara Call and Todd's mother,
Karen Brandon, all of Fayetteville and Seth and Gazell Call of Austin, Texas,
granddaughter, Betheny Call and their mother, Ronnie Call, all of Little Rock; one
step-grandson, Robbie Lewis of San Francisco; one great-grandson, Logan Call of
Fayetteville; three nephews, Eddie Gene Wright of Paragould, Larry Walker of Fullerton,
Calif., and David Walker of Caruthers, Calif.; and two nieces, Myrna Camp of Paragould and
Patty Johnson of San Jose, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Nola Walker; son, Michael Call; one
brother, Lloyd Walker; and three sisters, Ruth Farrell, Opal Wright and Oma Dillard.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Heath Colonial Chapel in Paragould with Eddie
Gene Wright conducting. Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery in Lafe.

Bobbie Jean Crum, 74 of Rector, died Thursday, June 14, 2007 at the Arkansas Methodist
Medical Center of Paragould.
Born May 11, 1933 in Beebe, Arkansas. Mrs Crum was a housewife, and a member of the
Antioch Baptist Church.
She is survived by two brothers: A. J. McDaniel of Rector and Gary McDaniel of Paragould.
Three sisters: Dorris Cox of Sherwood, Arkansas, Barbara Smith of Jonesboro, Arkansas and
Kathleen Burmester of Sturgis, Michigan. One grand daughter: Paige Crum of Jonesboro.

Sarah Bezella Baker, 89, of Monette Manor Nursing Home died Thursday, June 14, 2007, at
St. Bernards Medical Center.
Born July 11, 1917, in Elvins, Mo., she was a retired factory worker. Mrs. Baker attended
Calvary Full Gospel Church in Cardwell, Mo., and First Assembly of God in Steele, Mo.
Survivors include two brothers and three sisters-in-law, James and Ovetta Purcell of
Waterford, Mich., Charlie and Bonnie Purcell of Leachville and Marie McFarland of
Shreveport, La. She is also survived by four sisters, Rosa Shirley of Steele, Myrtle
Richter of Gainesville, Ga., and Mavis Lowe and Virgelene Jones, both of Flint, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Franklin McFarland and Willie Maude Barnes
McFarland; her husband, Burl Everett Baker; one daughter, Burline Baker; one son, Everett
Wayne Baker; two brothers, Eugene Purcell and W.A. "Alex" McFarland; and four

Virginia Nettles "Miss Ginny" Walters, 80, of Paragould died Wednesday, June 13,
2007, at Baptist Hospital East, Memphis.
She was born Dec. 4, 1926, in Marmaduke to Eugene and Elsie Nettles.
Mrs. Walters was a graduate of Lakeside School, Freed-Hardeman University, David Lipscomb
University and Arkansas State University. She retired in 1988 after teaching first grade
for 26 years at Lakeside School in the Greene County Tech District. She was a member of
7th and Mueller Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Hank Walters and his wife, Debbie, and Dale Walters, all of
Paragould. She is also survived by one adopted daughter, Ann Cornell Rutledge and her
husband, Mike, of Tampa, Fla.; one sister, Eugenia Thompson of Paragould; three
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and by many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-9 tonight in Mitchell Funeral Home at Paragould.

Freda Marcella Yauger
Freda Marcella Yauger, 69, of Trumann, formerly of Marmaduke, died Sunday, June 17, at St.
Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
She was born June 30, 1937, in Marmaduke, the daughter of Mattylee Smith Wright and the
late Jesse Wright. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Kim Reddick, and her
brother, Charles Wright.
She was of Baptist belief and retired from Rector Sportwear.
She is survived by her husband, Charles T. Yauger Jr. of Trumann; sons, Tony Reddick of
Paragould and Terry Reddick; daughter, Diane DeFries; and mother, Mattylee Wright, all of
Marmaduke; brothers, Gene Wright and Lavon Wright, both of Michigan; sister, Melba Sue
Cooper of Arkadelphia, eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Her life will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev.
Kim Bridges officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens. Her
grandsons will be pallbearers.

Demetra Colleen Faulkner
Demetra Colleen Faulkner, 81, born to Wake and Elizabeth Newsom, August 31, 1925, in
Walcott, Arkansas, was called from this life by her Lord, Saturday, June 16, 2007.
After graduating from high school, she married William L. George and moved to St. Louis,
Missouri. From this marriage was born three sons, Danny George, Steven George, and Kevin
George. In 1970 the family moved to Eldon, Missouri, where they resided for many years.
Mrs. Faulkner was an active member of the Rocky Mount Baptist Church near Eldon.
On October 16, 1990, she married William G. Bud Faulkner who preceded her in
death in 1994. She was also preceded in death by a loving son, Steven; a sister, Laverne
Willcoxson; both of her parents; and by her first husband, William George.
Survivors include two sons, Danny George of Eldon, Missouri; Kevin George and his wife,
Lisa of Lebanon, Missouri; a brother, W. D. Newsom and his wife, Barbara of Walcott; and
an aunt, Pearlie Wilcoxson of Walcott. She is also survived by six beautiful
grandchildren; four beautiful great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, dear friends
and neighbors in Missouri and Arkansas.
She was known to many by different names, Colleen, George, Grandma Neen,
Sis, but none greater than Mom. She was truly a Mom. She was there when you
needed a friend, someone to share joy and sorrow; she was always in all things, Mom. She
touched so many lives, with her ever positive attitude and never-ending faith in God.

Korean War Army veteran and of the Protestant faith.

2007 in Paragould. Mr. Warnken was born August 19, 1926 in West Helena to
the late Theus Warnken and the late Bell Hartsfield. He was a member of the
Masonic Lodge in Paragould and Griffin Memorial United Methodist Church in
Paragould.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Carden Warnken of Paragould; a son, Birt

Thomas Lee Coleman, 79, of Marmaduke, died Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical
Center. Mr. Coleman was born November 6, 1927, in Hunter, Arkansas. He was an Army veteran
of World War II, a retired saw filer from Paragould Wood Products, and of the Baptist
faith.

Leman Koller
Mr. Leman Koller, 79, of Paragould died Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at Paragould Nursing
Center.
Born in Tuckerman, he was the son of the late Mape and Oma Koller. He was a former
Leachville resident and retired from Ark-Mo Seed Company in Paragould.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1946-1948.
He is survived by a sister, Opal Strauss of Michigan, and two nieces, Carolyne Pillow and

Roy Dale Judd, 41, of Franklin died Tuesday, June 19, 2007 in Melbourne.
He was born July 1, 1965, in Paragould and was the son of Mary Sanchez Debow and David
Judd. He was self-employed in the house cleaning business.

Martha Vernor Ellison
Martha Ruth Vernor Ellison, 74, of Paragould died Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at Baptist
Health Center in Little Rock.
Mrs. Ellison was born April 27, 1933, in Dumas, the daughter of Walter and Alma Dedman
Vernor.
Martha was active in the Dumas Jaycettes and Dumas First Baptist Church choir. She was a
Sunday school teacher.
Martha and her family moved to Paragould from Dumas in 1970. She was a member of Paragould
First Baptist Church, the church choir, a Sunday school teacher and member of the hospital
auxiliary.
Martha loved to travel the world, but her real passion was teaching children and defending
the unborn. She married E.V. Ellison on April 29, 1954.
She is preceded in death by her husband, E.V. Ellison; son, Mark Alan Ellison;
granddaughter, Sarah Ashley Ellison; and her parents.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Christie Ellison Bardwell and husband Steve of
Little Rock; grandsons, Jeffery "Sky" Morris and Mark Christopher Ellison, both
of Little Rock; sister, Alma Jean Vernor Cagle of Canton, Texas; and brothers, Julius
Vernor of Fairhope, Ala., Thomas J. Vernor of Gautier, Miss., and Richard Vernor of
Arkadelphia.
Martha was a beautiful person inside and out, friend to many and a child of God.

Born to Ralph and Lina Morris in Greene County on May 31, 1944, she lived her life in
Paragould. She was a member of Third Avenue Baptist Church and was employed by Arkansas
Methodist Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy Thompson Jr.; her parents; and a
brother, Jimmy Morris.
She is survived by a daughter, son-in-law and grandson, Shauna and Curtis Hitt and Cruz of
Paragould; a son, Mika Thompson and his fiancee, Jamee Daskalos of Branson, Mo.; and
siblings, Martene McFall of Paragould and Devon Morris of Knob.
Family will pay respect from 5:30-6 p.m. today in Heath Funeral Home at Paragould, then

Wilburn Mullins
Wilburn Mullins, 63, of Knob died Thursday, June 21, 2007, at his home.
He was born July 11, 1943, in Paragould to the late Charley Seymour and Lucy Perkins
Mullins and was married Oct. 13, 1958, to Altie Bell Mullins, who survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Alvin Mullins of McDougal and Wade Mullins of Knob;
three daughters, Pam Mullins, Danica Lane and Carrie Tidwell, all of McDougal; three
brothers, Burnis Mullins of San Jacinto, Calif., Alton Mullins of Corcoran, Calif., and
Wayne Mullins of Knob; one sister, Cleda Andrews of Tyler, Texas, 11 grandchildren and
many friends and relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Elbert Mullins,
Edward Mullins, Owen Polly Mullins, Lester Mullins and Milton Mullins; two
sisters, Juanita Toler and Reba Howton, and one grandson, Blake VanNada.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at the Ermert Funeral Home chapel in

Bertha Ann Mobley, 58, of Pocahontas, died Friday, June 22, 2007, at St. Bernards
regional medical center of Jonesboro, Arkansas. Mrs. Mobley was born November 11, 1948.
She was Homemaker and was a member of Gainesville united Methodist church.
She was preceded in death by her Father Arthur Cole.
Mrs. Mobley is survived by her husband Aubrey Glen Mobley of Pocahontas; One son David
Mobley of Gainesville, Arkansas, two daughters Melissa Gugle of Pocahontas, and Melinda
Elasivich of Flint, Michigan. She is also survived by two brothers James Cole of Kennett,
Missouri, Russell Cole of Dallas, Texas, and three sisters Pauletta Duvall of Newark,
Ohio, Caroline Martin of Paragould, Theresa Tomlinson of Austin, Texas, and seven
grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, June 25th, at 10:00 a.m., at the Mitchell
Funeral Home Chapel of Paragould. Burial will be at Greene County Memorial Gardens
Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00AM till service time, at Mitchell Funeral Home in

Jacob Lynn Hayes
Jacob Lynn Hayes, 54 of Paragould died Friday, June 22, 2007 at Memphis Med Center from
injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Mr. Hayes was born April 17, 1953. He was a
tool and die maker at Hytrol in Jonesboro, Arkansas for 32 years. He was a member of First
United Pentecostal Church of Paragould.
Survivors include his wife: Deborah Hayes of the home, two sons: Michael Hayes and David
Hayes both of Carbondale, Illinois, two daughters: Melissa Ham of Jayess, Mississippi,
Melynda Hatcher of Royalton, Illinois, one stepson: Gary Yarbrough of Louisville,
Kentucky, five brothers: Joe Hayes, Jerry Hayes, Phillip Hayes, Bill Hayes all of
Paragould, Richard Hayes of Sebring, Florida, four sisters: Shelby ODell and Lucille
Jackson both of Paragould, Becky Byram of Holland, Missouri, Gwenda Tipton of Grenada,
Mississippi, six grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Bill and Goldie Hayes and one brother: Lavaughan
Hayes.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Monday at the First United Pentecostal Church on
Linwood Drive (Highway 49 South) with Rev. James Warbington and Rev. David Tipton
officiating, burial will follow in Browns Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from
6:00 P.M to 9:00 P.M. Sunday at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould.

Helen Collier Phillips
Helen Ruth Collier Phillips, 92, of Greene County died Saturday, June 23, 2007 at Arkansas
Methodist Medical Center.
She was a homemaker and a member of Paragould Missionary Baptist Church.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Phillips; parents, the Rev. A.O. and
Hettie Rogers Collier; sisters, Opal Collier McKelvey and Jerry Collier Jarrett; and
brothers, Herman Collier, the Rev. Glen Collier, Claude Collier, George H. Collier Sr.,
L.T. Collier and the Rev. John Ed Collier.
Survivors include four daughters, Janice Williams of Salem, Ore., Ella Breazeals of
Marmaduke, Betty Penn of Benton and Raymell Goodwin of Nashville, Tenn.; two sisters,
Freda Collier Ford of Germantown, Tenn., and Mary Collier Buck of Paragould; special niece
and nephew, Peggy Collier Jackson and Dr. Jon Collier, both of Paragould; several other
nieces and nephews; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and six
great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Heath Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. John
Penn officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Wayne Bomar
Wayne Bomar, 64, of Paragould, died Sunday, June 24, 2007, after a nine month battle with
brain cancer.
He was born October 11, 1942, in Paragould. Mr. Bomar retired as a Captain of the Arkansas
Game and Fish Commission after 31 years, and was a member of the Greene County Wildlife
Club. He was a member of East Side Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, C.A. and Mae Bean Bomar; and by a sister, Shirley
Robinson.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Sandra Rogers Bomar; a son, Mike Bomar; a daughter
and son-in-law, Carissa and Keith Mangrum , all of Paragould. He is also survived by two
brothers, Bobby Bomar of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Gary Bomar of Atoka, Tennessee; four
sisters, Louise VanHook of Searcy, Betty Ragsdell of Paragould, Sandra Everett of Vienna,
Virginia, Karen Price of Marion; and five grandchildren, Kristen, Brenden, Brett, Aubree
and Aadon Mangrum, all of Paragould.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 27th, at Mitchell Funeral Chapel,
Paragould, with Dennis Scudder, Gary Everett and Jack Cox officiating. Burial will follow
in Linwood Cemetery.

Sybil Boggs Skaggs
Sybil Boggs Skaggs, 92, of Paragould, died Sunday, June 24, 2007, at Greene Acres Nursing
Home. Mrs. Skaggs was born August 19, 1914. She was a co-owner of L.K. Ashcroft Purina
Feed Store in Pocahontas from 1951-1976. She was a member of Griffin Memorial United
Methodist Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Ray Boggs and Charles Boggs, both of
Paragould; one sister, Josephine Clayton of Heber Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Christina Boggs; her husband, Ardell
Skaggs; and by three brothers, Floyd, Earl, and Roy Boggs.
Visitation began Tuesday evening at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould. Graveside services
will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 27th, at Linwood Cemetery, with Michael
Sutton officiating. The procession will leave Mitchell Funeral Home at 1:50 p.m.,
Wednesday.

Maryona Beasley
Maryona Beasley, 94, of Henderson, Arkansas, died Sunday, June 24, 2007, at her residence.
She was born April 6, 1913, at Fontaine to Tom Tennison and Ida Mae Pratt Tennison Foster.
On July 8, 1933, she married James Marcus Beasley in Fontaine.
Mr. and Mrs. Beasley moved to LaVerne, Calif., shortly thereafter to seek work during the
Great Depression. Together they enjoyed success in California, where she was a homemaker,
worked for Sunkist as a citrus fruit packer and then as a breakfast-lunch cook for LaVerne
College and Pitzer College.
Her love for her Lord Jesus and her family were her life. Her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart. If you visited her home you never
went away hungry.
Mr. and Mrs. Beasley retired to Henderson in 1973.
She is survived by a son, Marcus L. (Donna) Beasley of Cotter; daughter, Sherry (J.L.)
Milhon of Henderson; granddaughters, Jinger Milhon (Michael) Goodson of Yellville, Marcy
Beasley Johns of Desert Hot Springs, Calif., and Kimberly Beasley of Cotter; grandson,
James (Pam) Milhon of Mountain Home; great-grandchildren, Nina Vaag, Kjersti Vaag, Brody
Goodson, Jacob Milhon, Emily Cowart, Nathan Cowart and Delaynee Johns; three brothers,
Adrian (Ethel Jo) Foster and Ronnie (Alice) Foster of Yucaipa, Calif., and Oral V. (Sarah)
Foster of Van Buren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Hattie Mae Belle Reeves and
Jewel Ernst; and brothers, John, Raymond and Russell Foster.
Visitation will be from noon-9 p.m. today with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.
in Roller Funeral Home at Mountain Home. A second visitation will be from 9-11 a.m.
Thursday with a funeral service following at 11 a.m. in Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home
Chapel in Jonesboro.
Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Lorado.

Benny McKinley
Benny McKinley, 67, died Sunday, June 24, 2007, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in
Paragould.
He was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., to the late Chester and Dorothy McKinley. He was a
carpenter and of the Baptist belief. Benny loved to laugh and tell jokes and stories. He
had a smile for everyone and he loved his family.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Cloud McKinley of the home; four sons, Butch McKinley
of Monette, David McKinley of Georgia, Ricky Rolland of Monette and Scott Rolland of
Leachville; two daughters, Debbie Davis of Lake City and Lisa Fletcher of Monette; one
brother, Marvin McKinley of Crawford, Texas; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren;
and four beloved pets.
He is also preceded in death two brothers.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in
Monette with the Rev. Ed Wheeler and Bill Davenport officiating. Burial will follow in
Monette Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Perry Wood, Jordan Wood, Charlie Hill, Don
Fletcher, Terry Edwards and Larry Rolland and as honorary pallbearers, his grandchildren
and his son-in-law, Jackie Davis.

Tennie Naomi Prince, 90, of Paragould passed away Monday, June 25, 2007, at Arkansas
Methodist Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 30, 1917, to Henry and Gertie Wilkerson in Greene County, where she
lived most of her life and worked in the restaurant and factory industries. She was a
member of Newton Street Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Maurice Dollins and Donald Prince; two sons,
Ronald Prince and Jimmie Dollins; two brothers, Cecil Wilkerson and Earl Wilkerson; and
two sisters, Ella Mae Young and Jewel Long.
Survivors include two sons, Gaylon Dollins and Gary Prince, both of Paragould; one
brother, Joseph Wilkerson of Flint, Mich.; one sister, Faustina Jones of Indianapolis; six
grandchildren, Sherrie Williams, Sheila White, Jimmie Dollins, Scott Dollins, Ronald
Dollins and Brian Jones; 16 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be this evening from 6-9 at Phillips Funeral Home, 4904 West Kingshighway
in Paragould.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at New Friendship Cemetery in
Paragould with a procession leaving Phillips Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Officiating
ministers will be L.R. Smith and Jerry Hays.

Harvey M. Rowe, 74, of Paragould died Sunday, June 24, 2007, at The Med in Memphis.
He was born March 14, 1933, to Elzie and Marie DeHart Rowe. He attended Mountain Home
Church of Christ.
Harvey was retired from A.M. Louis Wholesale Grocery Co. in California. He was a veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elzie and Marie Rowe.
Survivors include his son, Michael Rowe of Port Orford, Ore.; and daughter, Barbara Rowe
Colton and husband Doug of Sixes, Ore.; brother, Alton Rowe and wife Carol of Apache
Junction, Ariz.; best friend, Patricia Gifford of Paragould; and several cousins and
friends.

Laura Lynn Tate, 59, of Paragould died Monday, June 25, 2007 at St. Bernards Medical
Center in Jonesboro.
She was born May 18, 1948, in Lafe to the late Lawrence and Anna Bateman Hudspeth. She was
a homemaker and member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Steve of the home; one son, David Gatewood of Draper, Utah;
daughter, Cheryl Morgan of Paragould; a sister, Donna Etchieson of Conway; and seven
grandchildren, Bennie Canales, Breanna, Myka and Trace Morgan, Brennan Gatewood, Brooke
King and Isabella Gatewood.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev.
Dennis Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.

Warren D. Bales, 69, died Monday, June 25, 2007, in Alexander, Iowa. He was born Dec. 1,
1937, at Sedgwick.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Duane and Jessie Bales; and all of his maternal
and paternal grandparents.
A veteran of the United States Navy, he is survived by his son, Warren D. Bales, II. of
Erie, Pa.; a daughter, Patti Sue Bales of Los Angeles, Calif.; 2 grandchildren; 5
great-grandchildren; and four brothers, Ronald of Paragould, Steve of Jonesboro, and Kelly
and Kevin of Paragould.
Private services were held in Alexander, Iowa on June 26.
Betty Downs
Betty Downs, 73, of Paragould died Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at Arkansas Methodist Medical
Center.
She was born Nov. 19, 1933, in Paragould to Isaac and Bernice Damron Howard.
Survivors include her husband, Jay Downs; children, Pauletta Hollis, Ranae Shepherd, Scott
Downs and Michelle Downs, all of Paragould; son-in-law, Randy Hollis; daughter-in-law,
Judy Downs; grandchildren, Meghan Mitchell, Drake and Drew Downs, Jay Shepherd and Matthew
Hollis; one great-grandchild, JoBeth Mitchell; and sisters, JoAnn Filerbo and Hilda
Stewart of Paragould.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Elvis, Harold, Colvin, Freed and
Dwight Howard; and one half-sister, Minnie Hyde.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Mountain Home Cemetery with Randy
Hollis officiating.

Jewell Mae Boling, 93, of Paragould, died Friday, June 29, 2007, at Arkansas Methodist
Medical Center.
A homemaker, Mrs. Boling was born January 14, 1914, in Greene County. She was a member of
Browns Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby Ray and Ann Boling of Batesville,
and Royce and Kathryn Boling of Paragould. She is also survived by four grandchildren,
Denise Boling, Derek Boling and his wife, Susan, all of Paragould, Bobby Ray Boling, Jr.
of Louisiana, Eric Boling and his wife, Angie, of Jonesboro; four great grandchildren, and
by two step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Boling; and by two brothers, Roy Johnson
and Gordon Johnson.
Visitation will be Saturday, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m., Sunday, July 1st, at Browns Chapel
Baptist Church, with Royce Boling and Marty Harris officiating. Burial will follow in

Johnny Allen Gates
Johnny Allen Gates, 64, of Paragould, formerly of Leachville, died Saturday, June 30, 2007
at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Born in Memphis, he was the son of the late Harris and Mildred Hardin Gates and had been a
longtime Leachville area resident before making his home in Paragould in 1996.
He was employed by John Edwards Farms of Leachville and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Haynes
Gates; and one brother, James Gates.
Survivors include one son, Randy Allen Gates of Paragould; two daughters, Tonya Lee Wilson
of Leachville and Michelle Marie Beal of Paragould; five stepdaughters, Linda Peyton of
Paragould, Pat Powers of Cardwell, Mo., Teresa Clark of Paragould, Mary Young of Jonesboro
and Janet Stallings of Marmaduke; three brothers, Donald Gates and David Gates, both of
Paragould, and Allen Gates of Hot Springs; a sister, Betty Howard of Paragould; 27
grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Howard Funeral Chapel at Leachville with the
Rev. Rex Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Leachville Cemetery.

William Charles Diggs
William Charles Diggs, 68, of Paragould, died June 30, 2007 at his home. Born July 9, 1938
at Paragould, he was a retired truck driver for Northwestern Freight of St. Louis, and a
member of East Side Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Jean Garmroth Diggs of the home; one son, William Keith
Diggs of Oakland Township, Michigan; three sisters, Betty Ann Brown of Tuckerman, Jo Nell
Cole and Verda Eaker both of Paragould, and by six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Luther and Lona Diggs and by his first
wife, Melba Jean Diggs.
