Mary Louise Moore
Mary Louise Moore, 57, of Paragould died Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at Arkansas Methodist
Medical Center.
Born in Greene County, she was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal belief.
Survivors include her husband, Charles O. Moore of Paragould; a son, Charles W. Moore of
Paragould; a brother, Richard Lee Brown of Paragould; and a grandson, Anthony Moore of
Cardwell, Mo.
She was preceded in death by a son, David Moore; a daughter, Melissa Moore; and her
parents, James Russell and Dorothy French Brown.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel, with
the Rev. Floyd Ryles officiating.
Burial will be in Brown's Chapel Cemetery.
Arthur Joy King
Arthur Joy King, 74, of Oak Grove Heights died Thursday, June 2, 2005, at Arkansas
Methodist Medical Center.
Born at Paragould, he was a landowner.
Survivors include his wife, Gearlene King of Paragould; four sons, Arthur King of
Paragould, Terry King of Ocala, Fla., Perry King of Topeka, Kan., and Randy King of Lafe;
four daughters, Lisa Niceschwander of Holly, Colo., Brenda Maness of McComb, Miss., Gail
Taylor of Hardy and Regina Smith of Kennett, Mo.; one brother, Horace Mitchem of
Paragould; one sister, Azalee Bolick of Lafe; 14 grandchildren; and 10
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Ricky King and Michael King; his parents, Arthur J.
and Maudie King; and four brothers.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel, with
Adrian Denham and Chad Wagoner officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial
Gardens at Paragould.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Shipman, Ewell Melton, Arthur King, Earnest Shepherd, Gaylon
Rogers and Marlon Bay.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mary Vestal Montgomery
Mary Vestal Montgomery, 90, of Paragould died Thursday, June 2, 2005, at Arkansas
Methodist Medical Center.
Born at Paragould, she was a homemaker and member of Seventh and Mueller Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Faulkner of Vienna, Mo., and Jimmy Faulkner of
Oceanside, Calif.; three daughters, Barbara McCallahan of Richmond, Va., Margaret Camerer
of Eldred, Ill., and Sandra Ralston of Dawson, Ill.; one stepson, Harold Wayne Montgomery
of Paragould; one stepdaughter, Zelma Donovan of Las Vegas; and several grandchildren,
stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, George Self Faulkner; her second husband,
Zelma Montgomery; two sons, Jerry Faulkner and Ronnie Faulkner; one granddaughter and one
stepgranddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould, with
Larry McFadden officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Alfred W. Robinson
Alfred W. Robinson, 77, died on June 3, 2005, at the Crockett County Nursing Home.
Mr. Robinson was born in Paragould, Ark., Oct. 8, 1927, to Samuel and Nella Robinson. He
graduated from Paragould High School and attended Arkansas State at Jonesboro.
He served in the Army from 1946 to 1948 and from 1950 to 1952.
He worked for Pidgeon-Thomas Iron Works and Dabney-Hoover Supply Co. in Memphis, Tenn.
Mr. Robinson married Mary Ann Phillips June 16, 1956. They lived in Memphis until 1995
then moved to Alamo, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Sam and Nella Robinson; and sisters,
Goldah Wilkerson and Bernadine Robinson.
Mr. Robinson is survived by his loving wife Mary Ann; sister Donnah Cannady; nieces
Barbara Cunningham of Belen, N.M., Betty and Jerry Edwards of Weed, Calif., and Drena
Embree of Boise, Idaho; sister-in-law Lenita and Farrow Know; father-in-law Hamlett
Phillips; nephews-in-law Trent and Joe Forsythe of Alamo; great niece Hillary Forsythe of
Bells; and several other great nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services for Mr. Robinson will be at 11 a.m. June 6, 2005, at Ronk Funeral Home. Burial
will follow at Oakview Memorial Cemetery near Alamo.
David Michael Holloway
David Michael Holloway, of Dubblin, Texas, died Friday, June 3, 2005 at the age of 50.
He was born in Paragould, Arkansas, on February 11, 1955.
Survivors include his wife: Gala, of the home, two daughters: Amy and Kasha, one son,
Kevin.
His mother Genevieve Holloway of Paragould, one sister, four brothers and three
grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his father, Melvin Holloway, and a sister, Joann.
Funeral will be Wednesday, June 8, 2005 in Dubblin, Texas.
Lois Hellen Fields
Lois Hellen Fields, 83, of Lafe died Saturday, June 4, 2005, at her residence.
Born at Millport, Ala., she was a retired telephone operator and member of the Assembly of
God at Columbus, Miss.
Survivors include one brother, Brooks Fields of Columbus, and one sister, Peggy Askew of
Henderson, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.B. and Lucille Shelton Fields, and two
brothers.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel of
Paragould, with the Rev. Gary Holcomb officiating. Burial will be in Ramer's Chapel
Cemetery at Marmaduke.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Curtis Matthew Beasley
Curtis Matthew Beasley, 79, of Lafe died Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at his residence.
An Arkansas native, he worked as a welder.
Survivors include a son, Curtis Bradford Beasley of Lafe; a daughter, Carole Burnett of
Weiser, Idaho; three brothers, Cletus Beasley of Adrian, Mich., Jason Beasley of Paragould
and Jim Beasley of Tecumseh, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Teresa Pannells, Elaine Lund,
Brandy Howard, Bryan Golden, Yvonne Burnett, Andrea Beard, Sherry Lynn Burnett and
Christina Burnett; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah F. and Essie Mae Gramling Beasley, and a
great-grandson.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel, with
the Rev. Bill Bass officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Josh Beasley, Bucky Beasley, Ronald Mangrum, Ron Lance, Robert Beard

James L. Hart
James L. Hart, 90, of Paragould died Thursday, June 9, 2005, at Arkansas Methodist Medical
Center.
He was a retired greens-keeper and golf shop manager at Fox Hills Golf Course. He won the
city golf championship at Fox Hills course in 1932. He also took the club championship in
1935, '36, '57 and '90. He was the starting center for the Paragould High School Bulldogs
in his youth and a member of Griffin Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Hart; one son, James A. Hart of Helena; two daughters,
Diane Blossom of Paragould and Jeanne Patterson of Alvarado, Texas; four granddaughters,
Tracy Brengard of Paragould, Sarah Fendley of Little Rock, Julie Markley of Albuquerque,
N.M., and Laura Patterson of Alvarado; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at noon today in Greene County Memorial Gardens. Burial will be
under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Paragould.
Visitation will be from 10:30-11:30 a.m. today at the funeral home.
Leona Hays
Leona Hays, 89, of Corning died Thursday, June 9, 2005, at Rector Healthcare.
Born at Marmaduke, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Roxann Thompson of Corning; a foster son, Wayne Thomas of
Corning; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and seven
great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Hays; two daughters, Carolyn Bowers
and Elaine Hays; her parents, Septer E. and Ora Odie Robertson Brewer; four brothers; and
two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Ermert Funeral Home of Corning, with the Rev.
Jimmy McMasters and Milburn Teasley officiating. Burial will be in Corning Cemetery.
Bertha Pyburn
Bertha E. Pyburn, 91, of the Lester community died Friday, June 10, 2005.
Born in Peach Orchard, she was a homemaker and owned and operated a grocery store for
several years in Lester. She was of the Assembly of God belief.
Survivors include three sons, Fred Pyburn of Lake City and Bob Pyburn and Tom Pyburn, both
of Lester; a daughter, Esther Williams of Lake City; 10 grandchildren, Dewayne Pyburn,
Jerry Jones, Ronnie Pyburn, Linda Jones, Larry Pyburn, Lisa Hogue, Michael Pyburn, Tim
Pyburn, Kevin Pyburn and Beverly Pyburn; 19 great-grandchildren; and six great
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymon Pyburn; a granddaughter; Sharon Jones; a
brother; a foster brother; and a sister.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Emerson Funeral Home Chapel in Lake City with
the Rev. Starley Baker and the Rev. Anthony Hogue officiating. Burial will follow in
Pruitt Cemetery near Paragould.

Teddy Sutherland
Teddy Sutherland, 82, of Rector died Sunday, June 12, 2005, at St. Bernard's Medical
Center at Jonesboro.
Born at Saddle, he was a mechanic for the Greene County Road Department and a member of
Union Central Church of Christ. He was a World War II veteran and member of the Veterans
of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Sutherland of the home; one son, Danny Sutherland Sr.
of Rector; one daughter, Fayetta Baalman of Michael, Ill.; three sisters, Zara Jones,
Carmel Perken and Patsy Tucker; 10 grandchildren, Keven Sutherland of Wisconsin, Tracey
Sutherland and Jeff Sutherland, both of Warren, Danny Sutherland Jr. of Marmaduke, Todd
Sutherland of Paragould, Joseph Boyd II of Jonesboro, Sharon Boyd Davis of O'Fallon, Mo.,
Carla Essman of Rector, Julie Sanders of Alton, Ill., and Scott Baalman of Cottage Hills,
Ill.; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Teddy D. Sutherland; his parents, Dewit Sutherland
and Alis Furr Sutherland; five brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Irby Funeral Home of Rector, with Owen
Evans officiating. Burial will be in New Liberty Cemetery.

Thomas Maurice Barr
Thomas Maurice Barr, 78, of Paragould, died Sunday, June 12, 2005, at Arkansas Methodist
Medical Center.
Born July 13, 1926, in Stanford, Mr. Barr worked as a foreman in the fitting room at the
Ed White Shoe Factory, and retired from Emerson Electric. He served in the Navy from 1945
to 1947 aboard the U.S.S. Pennsylvania. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Barr of the home; one son, Ronnie Barr of Paragould; two
brothers, Harrison Barr of Memphis, Tennessee, Lester Barr of Mt. Morris, Michigan; and
two sisters, Lee Turner of St. Louis, Missouri and Tena Malone of Jefferson City,
Missouri.
Mr. Barr was preceded in death by his parents, Newton and Lizzy Murtz Barr; four sons,
Perry Wayne Barr, Terry Dean Barr, Tony Allen Barr and Roger Vaughn Barr; one sister,
Verta Jetton; and one brother, Hershel Barr.
Funeral services will be Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home
Chapel, Paragould, with Terry Songer officiating. Burial will follow at the Greene County
Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Donald Webb Green
Donald Webb Green, 91, of Paragould, died Sunday, June 12, 2005, at Arkansas Methodist
Medical Center.
Born September 8, 1913, in Paragould, he attended public school and graduated from
Paragould High School. He then attended Hendrix College, Conway and Springfield Draughn
Business College in Springfield, Missouri. Mr. Green was a journeyman welder and machinist
and taught welding for the State Vocational Education Department. During World War II he
was operation officer for National Youth Administration, training young people for defense
factories. After the war, he and his brother operated Green Brothers Hardware Store for a
number of years. Later he worked with N.O. Nelson Company, of Memphis and Little Rock. He
and Nelson Company bought a plumbing supply company in Jonesboro. He was with N.O. Nelson
for 26 years with seventeen years as President of Jonesboro N.O. Nelson Company and
Jonesboro Winnelson Company.
Mr. Green was a member of Young Men's Civic Club and Kiwanis Club. He served as President
of the Greene County Fair Association for seventeen years and put the first fair and
carnival on the present fairgrounds. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church,
Paragould where he served on the church board and had taught Sunday school class.
Survivors include his wife, Allie M. Holt Green of Paragould; two sons and
daughters-in-law, Donald W. Green II and Kathy Green of Richardson, Texas and Gordon R.
and Beverly Green of Mandeville, Louisiana. He is also survived by one brother, Euclid
Green of Paragould; four grandchildren, Amy McDaniel of Frisco, Texas, Katy Williamson of
Plano, Texas, Mike Green of Lynnwood, Washington, and Mary Green of Mandeville, Louisiana;
and by two great-grandchildren, Allie and Christopher McDaniel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don H. and Lelia Bell Webb Green.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.
The funeral service will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., at First United Methodist Church with
David Moseley officiating. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery.

Elbert Elroy Jamison
Elbert Elroy Jamison, 96, of Paragould, died Saturday, June 11, 2005, at Arkansas
Methodist Medical Center.
Born September 30, 1908, in Gainsville, Arkansas, Mr. Jamison retired from McDonnell
Aircraft, St. Louis, as a tool and die maker. He was a faithful member of the Center Hill
Church of Christ. Mr. Jamison was proud of his Scottish heritage.
He leaves to treasure his memory, his wife of seventy-two years, Mary Elizabeth Jamison of
Paragould; one son and daughter-in-law, William and Margaret Jamison of Hazelwood,
Missouri; and one daughter, Marilyn Smith of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by one
sister, Shirley Watkins of St. Charles, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; and twelve
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Anne Edith Jamison; one daughter,
Barbara Jean Jamison; one son, Benny R. Jamison; one son-in-law, William H. Smith two
brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the Mitchell Funeral Home in
Paragould.

Arthur Paul Cole
Arthur Paul Cole, 83, of Paragould died Monday, June 13, 2005, at Arkansas Methodist
Medical Center.
Born March 7, 1922 in Lafe, he was a retired equipment hauler for the Arkansas Highway and
Transportation Department. He was an Army veteran of World War II and of the Methodist
faith.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Cole of Paragould; two sons, James Cole of Kennett,
Mo., and Russell Cole of Dallas; four daughters, Pauletta Duvall of Newark, Ohio, Ann
Mobley of Pocahontas, Carolyn Martin of Paragould and Teresa Tomlinson of Austin, Texas;
two brothers, Robert Cole and Homer Cole, both of Paragould; one sister, Lorene McFall of
Rector; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sid and Clara Cole; two brothers; and two
sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Mitchell Funeral Home chapel of
Paragould, with Everett Isom officiating. Burial will be in the Greene County Memorial
Gardens Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Military honors will be provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4556 of

Lila Mathel King
Lila Mathel King, 86, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at St. Bernard's Medical
Center.
Born at Paragould, she was a homemaker and a retired dietitian. She was also a member of
the American Legion Auxiliary and University Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Bruce King, Ray King and James King, all of Jonesboro; one
daughter, Betty Austin of Arkansas City, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alger Ray King; a brother; and four sisters.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lorado Baptist Church, with Mike
Blackwood officiating. Burial will be in Lorado Cemetery under direction of Roller-Farmers
Union Funeral Home.

Alice Louise Gatlin, 61, of Paragould died Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at Arkansas Methodist
Medical Center.
Born Feb. 14, 1944, in Hoxie, Arkansas, she was a retired business owner and member of
Seventh and Mueller Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, Angela West of Omaha, Neb.; her companion, Bob Bateman of
the home; four brothers, Carl Jones, Don Jones, Dale Jones and James Jones, all of
Paragould; three sisters, Jean Jackson and Bonnie Pranger, both of Paragould, and Linda
Pelkey of Jonesboro; and a grandson, Robert West Jr. of Great Falls, Mont.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mitchell Funeral Home, with Larry
McFadden officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.

Rhonda Priest Moore
A memorial service for Rhonda Priest Moore, 53, of Detroit, formerly of Paragould, who
died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday in Ramer's Cemetery.

Ellen Arizona Tatum
Ellen Arizona Tatum, 87, of Paragould died Wednesday, June 16, 2005, at Arkansas Methodist
Medical Center. She was born July 26, 1917 in Rosebud, Arkansas the daughter of the late
George Gream and Hazan Elizabeth Starkey Bell.
She is also preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Tatum; daughter, Johnnie Odean
Tatum; brother, Wilbourn Bell; sisters, Orpha Clements, Josie McPherson, and Jessie
Chambers.
She is survived by her brother, George Robert Bell, two sisters, Oleta Noble and Mary Lee
Ramsey all of Kensett, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday Heath Colonial Chapel with interment
at Linwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends form 6-9 p.m. today at Heath Funeral

Rosemary Gerdes, 72, of Lafe died Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at the Trauma Center at
Memphis.
Born at Cache Lake, she was a homemaker and retired sales clerk for Belk's. She was a
member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Lafe.
Survivors include her husband, Harold William Gerdes; two sons, Gary Gerdes of Lafe and
Greg Gerdes of Paragould; two daughters, Wanda Roush and Ann Harvey, both of Lafe; four
brothers, Howard Dicus of Jonesboro, Lee Dicus of Montgomery, Texas, and Jimmie Dicus and
Dean Dicus, both of Cahokia, Ill.; two sisters, Ruth Dicus and Lannie Haller, both of
Paragould; a half-sister, Mary Myers of LaVerne, Calif.; four granddaughters, Melissa
Roush Henson, Ashley Roush Reed, Kendra Gerdes Street, all of Paragould, and Cassie Gerdes
Bunch of Manila; and a great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Dennis Earl Gerdes; her parents, Oscar Almus
and Dica Florence Garrison Dicus; and three brothers.

Rev. Curtis Dwyer officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery

Betty Sue Ketcherside
Graveside services for Betty Sue Ketcherside, 63, of Paragould, who died Friday, June 17,
2005, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Linwood Cemetery.
The Rev. Bill Bass will officiate and burial will be under the direction of Heath Funeral
Home of Paragould.
Mrs. Ketcherside was a member of the Church of Paragould.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Ketcherside of the home; one daughter, Shellie Perry
of Finch; four sons, Kevin Ketcherside of Fayetteville, and Clay Ketcherside, Shawn
Ketcherside and Bradley Ketcherside, all of Paragould; one brother, Frank Brock of St.
Louis; one sister, Peggy Lotz of St. Louis; one grandson whom she raised, Brian
Ketcherside; and eight grandchildren.
Billy Wayne Wood
Billy Wayne Wood, age 74, of Clinton, Arkansas, died on Thursday, June 16, 2005 after a
long struggle with cancer. He was born May 22, 1931 in Paragould, Arkansas. After
graduating high school in Paragould, Bill served in the Air Force for four years. On
August 6, 1953, he married his childhood sweetheart, Danna Pearl Sumners. Upon completion
of his military service he enrolled in Arkansas State University at Jonesboro where he
graduated with a B.S. degree in Agricultural Sciences in 1957. He began his career with
the Department of Agriculture as a poultry inspector. Later in his career he started the
Food Stamp pilot program in Louisiana. He became the Assistant Regional Administrator in
Dallas and later served as the first Regional Administrator of the Food and Nutrition
Service in Denver. He retired in 1983 and moved to Clinton, Arkansas, where he became a
member of First Baptist Church.
Bill was an avid golfer and pursued this passion with gusto. He particularly enjoyed a
good joke and mornings spent with the coffee bunch at Harvest Foods.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Violet Wood, a sister, Sybil Hill
and brothers Charles and Harrell Wood. He is survived by wife Danna Sumners Wood,
daughters and sons-in law Wendy and Gerald Mason of Greensboro, NC; Danene and Randy
Gallagher of Mabank, TX; Stephanie and William Gammon of Rockwall, TX; Sylvia and Tony
Hammontree of Dallas, TX; 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; sister Faustenia
Cartwright and brothers Glenn, Darrell and Joe Wood and many nieces and nephews.

Roy Barnhill
Roy Barnhill, 84, of Jonesboro died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at his residence.
A native of Greenfield, he lived most of his life in Jonesboro. He owned and operated
Barnhill TV and Radio Sales and Repair Shop. He served in the Army Air Corp during World
War II, receiving several medals including five Bronze Battle Stars. He retired from the
Arkansas State University Radio and TV Department as chief engineer and was a member of
Central Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge, where he was a 32nd degree Mason, the Eastern
Star, Amaranth, the American Legion and the Amateur Radio Club. He was a Shriner and
served as Country Civil Defense director in the 1950s and 1960s.
Survivors include his wife, Dora Mae Barnhill of the home; one son, Roger Barnhill of
Jonesboro; one brother, Olan Barnhill of Battle Creek, Mich.; one sister, Violet Garner of
Pocahontas; four granddaughters, Sherry Franks of Brownville, Tenn., Cindy LeMasters of
Columbus, Ohio, Sheila Omland of Fenton, Mo., and Stacy Hofius of Simi Valley, Calif.; and
three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Eddy Dwayne Barnhill; one daughter, Beverly Anne
Barnhill Turner; his parents, Huston and Dora Barnhill; and one brother.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Emerson Funeral Home's Memorial Chapel, with
the Rev. John Soward officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery at Paragould.

Jonesboro; two daughters, Debbie Granger-Bruner and Sandra Montgomery, both of Paragould;
one brother, Bill Granger of Jonesboro; four sisters, Louise Granger of Hoxie, Nancy

Jay L. "Jim" Jones, 68, of Paragould, died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at Arkansas
Methodist Medical Center.
Born May 20, 1937, in Hanford, California, Mr. Jones was a former security guard at the
Capitol Theatre and the Sunset Drive-in Theatre. He was a member of East Main Church of
Christ.
Survivors include his step-mother, Maggie Jones; one stepson, Eddie Rogers; and two
stepdaughters; Brenda Smith and Judy Orr, all of Paragould. He is also survived by four
brothers: Darrell Jones of Caruthersville, David Jones of Poplar Bluff, Dewayne Jones and
Anthony Jones, both of Paragould; four sisters: Katrena Hill, Gledia Thomas, and Shenia
Ford, all of Paragould, Earnastine Ussery of Jonesboro; and a special brother-in-law, Gary
Thomas of Paragould.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben Dave and Dora Hill Jones; his wife, Lowanda
Jones; his stepfather, Earnest Hill; and a stepson, Eugene Rogers.

Carolyn Beatrice Pollock, 46, of Paragould died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at her residence.
Born June 4, 1959 in South Carolina, she lived most of her life in the Paragould area. She
was a homemaker and member of Pruett Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Gary Pollock of the home; two daughters, Teasha Pollock and
Sheena Pollock, both of the home; three sons, Gary Lee Pollock of the home, and Jerry

He was retired from Emerson Electric Co. and of the Pentecostal belief.

William Walter "Sonny" Roswell, 66, of Paragould, died Monday, June 20, 2005, at
St. Bernard's Medical Center.
Born August 1, 1938, in Cardwell, Missouri, Mr. Roswell was an Air Force veteran, and a
car dealer. He was a member of 7th and Mueller Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Kay Roswell of the home; his mother, Elouise Roswell of
Paragould; three sons: Anthony Paul Roswell, David Keith Roswell, Timothy Wayne Roswell
and wife, Kelly, all of Paragould. He is also survived by one brother, Gale Roswell of Mt.
Home, Arkansas; three sisters: Fayrene Shipp and Glenda Bruce, both of Paragould, and
Louise Tarry of Burton, Mich.; four grandchildren: Bryan Roswell of Germantown, Tenn.,

James Marcus Beasley, 93, of Henderson, Arkansas, died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at his

Born at Buckhorn near Marked Tree, he lived in California, where he had worked as a citrus
grove truck driver, managed citrus groves and owned and operated service stations. He also
worked for the City of La Verne, Calif., until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Maryona Tennison Beasley of the home; a son, Marcus L. Beasley
of Mountain Home; a daughter, Sherry Milhon of Henderson; a sister, Betty Dillingham of
Alicia; four grandchildren, Jinger Goodson, James Milhon and Kimberly Beasley, all of

Paragould. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Marmaduke.

James Harold Adams
James Harold Adams, 72, of Paragould died Sunday, June 26, 2005, at his residence.
Born June 12, 1933, in Greene County, he had served in law enforcement for the past 50
years, which included working for the Greene County Sheriff's Department and the Paragould
Police Department. He was the first criminal investigator for Paragould and the first
marshal at Center Hill and served as constable for Clark Township. He was a Protestant.
Survivors include his wife, Freda Griffin Adams of the home; two sons, Ron Adams of Rogers
and Max Adams of Paragould; three daughters, June Cowan of Forrest City and Angela James
and Lana Brown, both of Paragould; four sisters, Jean Vinyard of Willard, Mo., and Norma
Hester, Faye Hyde and Joan Huffman, all of Paragould; 12 grandchildren; and eight
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Miriam Maddox Adams, one brother and
three sisters.

Esther A. Thompson
Esther A. Thompson, 88, of Paragould, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005 in Lakeland, Tennessee.
Born October 17, 1916, in Mantee, Mississippi, Mrs. Thompson was a retired school teacher.
She taught for 40 years, the last 31 years in the Paragould School District. She held a
BSE degree from Arkansas State University.
Mrs. Thompson was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Paragould where she
taught Sunday School for over 70 years, as well as other teaching positions. She was very
active in many areas of her church life.
Mrs. Thompson was a member of the educational organization, Delta Kappa Gamma, Arkansas
Retired Teachers Association, Greene County Retired Teachers Association, the Endowment
Foundation of Greene County and the AMMC Foundation.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas L. and Artie S. Arnold; her husband,
Cleetis L. Thompson; one daughter, Linda Gail Greenland; two sisters, Opal A. Allen and
LaQuex A. Jones; and by one brother, Roy S. Arnold.
Survivors include one niece, Peggy Parkinson of Arizona; two nephews, Guy Arnold of
Arizona, and Ronald Arnold of California; and her son-in-law, Cecil Greenland and his
wife, Nina, of Lakeland, Tennessee.

Alberta Christene Kent, 76, of Ehrenberg, Arizona, died Wednesday, June 25, 2005, at Good
Samaritan Hospital.
Born at Paragould, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, Robert Lewis Taylor of Huntsville, Ala.; one daughter, Euba
Jean Hulsey of Ehrenberg; two sisters, Imogene Pillow and Vaudeen Pillow, both of
Paragould; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milam Kent; one son, Michael Mehler; her
parents, Herschel and Ollie Hopper Keelor; two brothers; and two sisters.
