John Mitchell Smith, 81, of Marmaduke died Sunday June 7, 1987 at Arkansas Methodist Hospital . He was born in Greene county, was a member of Ramer's Chapel Methodist Church and a retired hospital employee.

Survivors include his wife , Edith Smith of the home; two sons, Hollis Smith of Easley, S.C. and Doyle Smith of Marshall, Ill.; four daughters, Velma Coward and Dorothy Kappleman, both of Paragould, Wanda West of Rockton, Ill, and Wilma Garza of Dallas , Texas; two brothers, Eugene Smith of Paragould and James Smith of Memphis; four sisters, Ruby Williams, Delores Barrow and Mary Hathaway, all of Marmaduke, and Lizzie Rutledge of Flint Mich.; and 22 grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are with Heath Funeral Home. Burial at Ramer's Chapel Cemetery.
