Medical Center. She was born in Delaplaine.
Survivors include two sons, Chester Denton and Eldo Denton, both of Delaplaine; a
daughter, Rita Whitehorn of Walnut Ridge; a sister, Ruby Ferrell of Walnut Ridge; six
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Denton; and her parents, Charlie and
Carrie Martin Connelly.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home in
Pocahontas, with Melvin Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial
Cemetery in Paragould.

Patty Joyce Eaton, 53, of Paragould died Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at her residence.
Born in Paragould, she was a machine operator for Emerson Electric Co., and a member of
Brown’s Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Eaton of the home; two sons, Mark Charles Eaton and
Richard Jerome Eaton, both of Paragould; two daughters, Kimbra Renee Hudson of Cumberland
Furnace, Tenn., and Crystal Jolenna Eaton of Paragould; six brothers, Sam West of
Jonesboro, Mark C. West, Herbert West, Robert West and Joe West, all of Paragould, and
Donald West of Midland, Texas; three sisters, Mary Bresna of Paragould, Betty Williams of
Hornbeck, La., and Dorothy Wilson of St. Louis; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Delbert Delwayne Vincent
Delbert Delwayne Vincent, 52, of Lafe died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at the VA Hospital in
Memphis.
Born in Paragould, he was of the Baptist belief. He worked as a truck driver for Razorback
Concrete and served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Debra E. Vincent of the home; one son, Zachariah Vincent of
Lafe; two daughters, Danielle Vincent of Lafe and Felicia Vincent; his mother, Barbara
Johnson; three brothers, Marty Vincent, Tommy Vincent and Wendell Vincent, all of
Paragould; and three sisters, Kim Gill and Maria Mosley, both of Paragould, and Jackie
Smith of Marmaduke.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert William Vincent.
A memorial service is scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday at Unity Baptist Church, with the Rev.
Terry Songer officiating. Burial will follow in Brown's Chapel Cemetery. Heath Funeral
Home of Paragould is in charge of arrangements.
No visitation has been planned.

Margaret Jane Wooten
Margaret Jane Wooten, 69, of Jonesboro died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at the University of
Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.
Born in Paragould, she lived in Jonesboro all her life and was of the Baptist belief.
Survivors include her husband, Harold Wooten of the home; two sons, Terry Wooten and
Ronnie Wooten, both of Jonesboro; four daughters, Mary Prince of Brookland, Connie Davis
and Bonnie K. Wooten, both of Jonesboro, and Betty Brinson of Hernando, Miss.; two
brothers, Robert Kirk of Jonesboro and Alex Kirk of Forrest City; one sister, Mary Kirk of
Detroit; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Martha L. Ezell Kirk; one son, David
Wooten; and one grandson.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in Pine Log Cemetery, with the Rev. Robbie
McMasters. Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Hazel Novella Garner
Hazel Novella Garner, 73, of Paragould died Monday, July 28, 2003, at her residence.
Born in Beech Grove, she was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Al Garner of the home; three sons, Donald Eugene Clark and
Jerry Wayne Clark, both of Paragould, and Michael Anthony Clark of Jonesboro; four
daughters, Novella Ussery, Kathy Templeton, Kim Cox and Tammy Clark, all of Paragould;
three sisters, Geneva Scroggs of Paragould, Jewell Goode of Mount Morris, Mich., and Wanda
Dollins of Victoria, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie Clay and Effie Novella Arant Cloud, two
brothers and two sisters.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in New Friendship Cemetery, with
the Rev. Lowell Ussery officiating. Heath Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of
arrangements.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dorothy RobertsThorn
Dorothy Roberts Thorn, 86, of Paragould died Monday, July 28, 2003, at Greene Acres
Nursing Home.
Born in Rector, she was a retired shoe factory worker and a member of Seventh and Mueller
Church of Christ.
Survivors include three daughters, Marjorie Noel, Peggy Bohanning and Joan Norwood, all of
Paragould; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Otis Roberts; her second husband, S.D.
Thorn; a son, Bill Roberts; a daughter, Sharon Ryles; and her parents, Odis and Jennie
Mott.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home of
Paragould, with Larry McFadden officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial
Gardens.
Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mildred Margarett Johnson
Mildred Margarett Johnson, 92, of Shreveport, formerly of Marmaduke, died Tuesday, July
29, 2003, at Christus Schumpert Medical Center in Shreveport.
Born in Marmaduke, she was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Lou McHugh of Metairie, La., and Deloris Smith of
Shreveport; two sisters, Elsie Brightwell of Paragould and Verna Williams of Marmaduke; a
granddaughter, Deaunna Fleming of Shreveport; and three great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arvie E. "Joe" Johnson; her parents,
Tom and Sylvia Vestal; a brother; and seven sisters.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Marmaduke. Kim
Bridges and Wayne Brightwell will officiate, and burial will follow in Harvey's Chapel
Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.
Pallbearers will be Don Echols, Rickie Roberts, Bobby Farmer, Ben Whitaker, Jack Lee,
Chuck White and Gene Bennett.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Friday at the church.

Mildred Irene Smith
Mildred Irene Smith, 90, of Paragould died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist
Medical Center.
Born in Greene County, she was a homemaker and a member of Finch Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Edward Smith of Paragould; four daughters, Mary Sailor and Lola
Clement, both of Paragould, Velta McNatt of Jonesboro and Sylvia Hampton of Taylor, Mich.;
one brother, Felix Tate of Paragould; one sister, Sylvia Wheeler of Mountain View; 17
grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Betty Thomas; three sons, Carl
James Smith, L.D. Smith and M.J. Smith; two brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Mitchell Funeral Home chapel in
Paragould, with Terry Gage officiating. Burial will follow in Finch Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Violet Gillman Hosier
Violet Gillman Hosier, 85, of Paragould, formerly of Harrisburg, died Wednesday, July 30,
2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
Born in Murray, Ky., she was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal belief.
Survivors include six sons, Reuben Andrew Hosier Sr. of Blooming Grove, Joe W. Hosier of
Lafe, George H. Hosier of Cottage Hills, Ill., John R. Hosier of Worden, Ill., and Mickey
Hosier and David Hosier, both of Paragould; and six daughters, Ola Mae Morris of
McClainesboro, Ill., Betty Hackworth and Mary Davis, both of Paragould, Bertha Lopez of
Saginaw, Mich., Carolyn Bridges of Martin, Tenn., and Ann Cupp of West Monroe, La.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wesley Hosier, a son, her parents and
several siblings.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home,
with Ira Davis and Melvin Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Harrisburg Memorial
Park Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ted Spears
Ted Spears, 61, of Paragould died Thursday, July 31, 2003, at his residence.
Born in Paragould, he was employed at Monroe Auto Equipment for 31 years.
Survivors include one son, Kevin Michael Spears of Paragould; four daughters, April Howard
of Cave City and Veronica Spears, Misty Henderson and Stacey Hollis, all of Paragould; two
brothers, Aubrey Spears of Oregon and Fred Spears of Little Rock; two sisters, Barbara
Cummins and Patricia Clark, both of Paragould; and two grandchildren, Breana Howard and
Destiny Eno.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Margaret Spears, and one brother.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Shiloh Cemetery at Paragould, with Harold
Diggs officiating.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Howard, Matt Eno, Bobby Everett, Tony Eno, Shannon Huffine and
Ronnie Grady.
Visitation will be from 8:30-10:45 a.m. today at Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.

James Roy Hunt
James Roy Hunt, 80, of Hudson, Fla.,
formerly of Paragould, died Thursday, July 31, 2003, at Regional Medical Center Bayonnet
Point in Hudson. He was born Nov. 15, 1922, in Paragould. He was retired from General
Motors in Michigan and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Emma Bell Shirley Hunt; one brother,
Paul J. Hunt, and one sister, Blanche Hollowell. Survivors include his wife, Delitha
"Dell" Hunt of the home; one daughter, Elaine Worden of Hudson; one brother, Ted
Hunt of Hudson; one sister, Rheba Hunt of
Paragould; three grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Winn
officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould under the
direction of Heath Funeral Home of Paragould.
Pallbearers are Christopher Hunt, Mitchell Hunt, Andy Hunt, Paul Hunt, Keith Hunt and Tom
Wheeless.
Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, the
Make-A-Wish Foundation, or to the charity of the giver's choice.
