Gentry Lee Morrow
Gentry Lee Morrow, 75, of Paragould, passed away January 2, 2010, in
Paragould. He was a member of Seventh & Mueller Church of Christ and was an
airline supervisor for Northwest Airlines.
He was born November 13, 1934 in Greene County the son of the late Audie and
Lillie Morrow. He was also preceded in death by a brother and sister.
Survivors include sons: Larry Morrow , Williamsburg, VA., Gary Morrow,
Lexington Park, MD., Clifford M. Morrow , Fort Leonard Wood, MO., sisters:
Ethel Page, White Hall, IL., Genevieve Speer, Paragould, AR., Alberta
Pillow, Paragould, brother, O. D. Morrow, Athens, AL., five grandchildren
and two great grandchildren.
His life will be celebrated Wednesday, January 6th, 10:00 a.m. at Heath
Colonial Chapel, with Michael Cox and Larry McFadden officiating. Interment
will follow at Morrow Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening 6:00 until 8:00 at the
funeral home.

Garry William Hembrey, 54, of Paragould, passed away Monday, January 4, 2010
at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
Mr. Hembrey was born September 18, 1955, he was a former firefighter
instructor, a first responder, and a member of Newton Street Church of
Christ.
He was the beloved husband of Priscilla Hembrey; and the father of Scott
Kreutzer and Lori Hembrey, both of Paragould; and Mark Kreutzer of Eudora,
Kansas. Survivors also include his sister, Kathy Suzanne Williams of
Paragould; two stepbrothers, John Cook of Virginia, Gerald Cook of St.
Louis; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Hembrey and Mildred Cook.
Memorial services will be Saturday, January 9th, 10:00 a.m. at the Newton
Street Church of Christ with L. R. Smith officiating.
Visitation will be Friday evening, 5:00 until 7:00 at the Mitchell Funeral

Versie Odessa Speer, 90 of Rector passed away Monday, January 4, 2010. Born
August 26, 1919 to the late Johnny and Kate (Hyde) Jetton in Paragould, she
was a homemaker and a member of Simmons Chapel Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Conley
Speer and an infant son, Granville Etheridge Speer.
Versie is survived by three sons and daughter-in-laws: Weldon and Susie
Speer of Miami, OK, Aaron and Sue Speer of Marmaduke, Darrell and Linda
Speer of Rector, one daughter and son-in-law: Sandra and Gail Benson of
Piggott, nine grandchildren: Kelly McCormick, Stacey Speer, Kristy Rowe,

Dennis “Dino” Girard, 58 of Paragould passed away January 5, 2010 at the Flo
and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born August 13, 1951 in Walnut Ridge to
Robert and Mary Girard.

two brothers, Edward and Stanley Girard; two sisters, Sandra Smith and Robin
Jacobs.
Preceding him in death were his father and one brother, Robert Girard.

Pauline Penney, 88, beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully
at Aldersgate Village in Topeka, KS., January 6, 2010. She was born January
13, 1921 in Gainesville, AR., to William Albert and Dora (Walker) Penney.
She attended school at Oak Grove. Upon the death of her mother, she moved to
Ohio to seek employment. She later returned to Gainesville due to health
problems. With her quiet, patient and friendly personality, she cared for
her brother, father, elderly neighbors and the children of others. Her
greatest love was for her family. Pauline lived her life with family in
California, Arkansas and Kansas.
She is survived by her brother, Donald (Cecile) Penney of Topeka, and many
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Leavie; and sisters,
Delma Penney, Wilma Smith, Elbertine White, Cleavie Herring and her twin
sister, Aileen “Penney” Baker.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 9th, at Mt. Hope Cemetery
Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pauline will lie in
state after 2 p.m. Friday, January 8th, at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel.

Corene Howard, 73, Paragould, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at
Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Retired from Emerson Electric, she was
born February 12, 1936 in Malden, Missouri the daughter of the late Vern and
Ida Pauline Potter Shatley.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, James E. Johnson, Jr. and
granddaughter, Patrisha Phelps.
Survivors include, daughters, Semadawn Watson, Rita Runions, sons, Tony

Royal Eugene Rice, lovingly known as Pa, 94, of Marmaduke passed away
January 7, 2010 at Greene Acres Nursing Home. He was born in Marmaduke April
28, 1915 to Winslow and Rose Rice. He was a retired farmer and a member of
Union Central Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Nyrene
Garner Rice.

Mrs. Adams was born June 26, 1940, in Paragould. She was a former president
of the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center Auxiliary and a member of the 2nd &
Walnut Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Adams of Heber Springs and Mark Adams of
Paragould; one sister, Betty Palmer of Paragould, four grandchildren, and
one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parent, John and Effie Moore; and by three
brothers, John Moore Jr., Joe Moore and Danny Cupp.

Samuel John Wright passed from this life January 8, 2010 at the Hospice
House in Jonesboro. Born March 25, 1926, in Dunklin County, MO., the son of
Richard Stanley and Ollie Mae Ridings Wright. In addition to his parents, he
was preceded in death by a son, Stanley John Wright, 2 sisters, Mary Madge
Meacham and Katherine Elkins and 2 brothers, Robert Stanley and Bill Gene
Wright.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Eva Meacham Wright, son Kelly Wright
of Paragould and a daughter, Linda Crossno of Walnut Ridge. Grandchildren,
Staci Brown, Jonathan Wright, Shellei Rowe, Whitney Nelson, Marnee Sapp, Brandon Crossno and 11 great grandchildren.
Sam served in the Navy during WW-II on the USS Alpine. He was awarded the
Navy Unit Commendation for exceptional meritorious service and heroism
against enemy Japanese aircraft, mines and submarines during the following
operations: the capture of Guam, the Leyte Landings, the Lingayen Landings
and the Okinawa Operation in 1944 and 1945. He was a farmer and lived most
of his life in Cardwell, MO., before moving to Paragould.

Graveside military service and burial will be Monday, January 11th, 10:00
a.m. with Reverend Jason Noel officiating at Greene County Memorial Gardens

Franklin and Lillian Frances Thompson Keller.
She married Albert Ambrose Howard in Kennett, MO., May 18, 1940. He preceded
her in death, March 24, 1996.
Emma was of the Assembly of God faith. She was a homemaker.

Mediterranean theaters. Virgil was born September 11, 1921 in Grenada,
Mississippi the son of the late Virgil and Cubbie Rodgers. Mr. Rodgers is
also preceded in death by a son, Virgil Rodgers and three sisters, Ruby
Rodgers, Essie Alvano, and Ruth Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Agnes Rodgers of the home, sons and

Keith Britton of Walnut Ridge and Greg Britton of Thayer, MO., one sister,
Phyllis Brewer of Thayer, MO., four grandchildren, Chandler Wyatt and Walker
Zane Burbridge, Braxen Allen and Bryden Chase Britton.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Robert and Lyndle Britton.

Alice Earline Abell, 83, of Paragould, passed away Monday, January 18, 2010,
at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born March 3, 1926 the
daughter of the late Bill and Verda Hyde. She was also preceded in death by
her brother, Lawson Hyde and an infant granddaughter. She was a homemaker
and a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Wayne Abell, sons, Dennis

Abell, of Merritt Island, FL; daughter: Rebecca (Robert) Mahurin Mutz, of

Larry D. Campbell, 70, of Montgomery, TX., passed away January 22, 2010 in
Conroe, TX., he was born April 2, 1939 in Marmaduke, AR., the son of Cecil
and Esther Campbell.
Mr. Campbell graduated from Arkansas State University and served in the U.S.
Army Signal Corps.
His career, with Unisys Corporation, spanned over 30 years. During his
career, he worked on contracts at the White Sands Missile Range and several
government agencies including NASA and Homeland Security.
Survivors include his wife, Sara, of Montgomery, TX, daughter, Kelle
Castleberry and her husband Dean of The Woodlands, TX. He is also survived
by two precious grandsons, Steven and Daniel Castleberry.
Mr. Campbell was a member of the Conroe Church of Christ where he served as
an elder. Mr. Campbell was very active in community service and enjoyed
serving others in any way he could.
Services will be Thursday, January 28th, 10:30 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home
of Rector with interment following in Woodland Heights Cemetery.

He owned and operated Wayne’s Texaco for 24 years and Wayne’s Towing for the
past ten years. Wayne was an avid fisherman and NASCAR enthusiast. He was a
member of the Rosewood Baptist Church.

Robert Hansel Harris
Robert Hansel Harris, 91, of Paragould, passed away Friday, January 29,
2010, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Mr. Harris was born October 14,
1918 in Paragould to the late Robert Virgil and Clara Jeffrey Hanks Harris.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Maxine M. Gray Harris, brothers,
Jeff Harris and Theron Harris.
He was a lifelong resident, born, raised and lived, in Paragould. His
earliest job was as a child, helping his father deliver ice and milk by
horse and wagon. He retired from Southwestern Bell after 37 years and was a
lifetime member of AT & T pioneers. Mr. Harris served
his country during WWII from 1942-1945, serving in France, German and
Newfoundland in the Army Signal Corp. He was a Paragould Alderman for
several terms, Little League umpire for 17 years, member of the Lions Club,
he was a Mason, a lifetime member of the Fox Hills Golf Club, supporter of
ASU Athletics, member of the Red Wolf Club, and volunteered at AMMC in the
ICU until September 2009. Mr. Harris served as an elder of the First
Presbyterian Church for many years, was very active in the Arkansas
Presbytery serving as Moderator of Cluster III and chaired the Evangelism
Committee, completed coursed to become a Lay-Minister for Arkansas
Presbytery and filled pulpits of surrounding churches on several occasions.
He was a founding member and first President of the Greene County Museum. He
is survived by his daughter: Rebecca Lynn Brake, of Paragould; son: Robert
Glen Harris of Houston, TX, three grandchildren and seven great
grandchildren. His life will be celebrated Friday 10:00
a.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Don Thomas officiating. Interment
will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Bobby Dale Ward
Bobby Dale Ward, 48, of Bay, passed away Friday, January 29, 2010, at
Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.
Born May 29, 1961 in Jonesboro, Bobby lived much of his life in the
Jonesboro-Bay area. He worked several years for Colson Corporation before
becoming disabled. Bobby was a 1979 graduate of Bay High School and was a
U.S. Air Force veteran.
Bobby was of the Pentecostal belief and was preceded in death by his father,
Columbus Ward, and a sister, Juanita Ward Bishop.
Survivors include his mother, Leona Rogers Ward of Jonesboro, three sisters
and their spouses, Jearldene and Eddie Coughlin of Lake City, Alene and
Norman Nix of Bay, and Pat and Ray Ramsey of LaGrange, North Carolina,
two brothers and their spouses, Jerry and Ann Ward of Ruston, Louisiana, and
Ronnie and Eileen Ward of Salvisa, Kentucky; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 2nd, at the
Emerson Memorial Chapel with Phillip Rogers and John Dillinger officiating.
Burial with military honors will follow in Nettleton Cemetery.
Active pallbearers include Jason Bennett, Eddie Coughlin, Jeff Carter, Tim
Bishop, Zack Arnold and Robby Cook. Honorary pallbearers include Norman Nix
and James Roberts.
Visitation will be Monday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home in
Jonesboro.

Ruth Dulaney
Ruth Dulaney, age 93, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother,
great-great grandmother, sister and dear friend to many, passed peacefully
on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at Greene Acres Nursing Home. She was born May
24, 1916 in the Light Community, Greene County, and was a homemaker. She
loved her family dearly and modeled an exemplary life in how to treat
others, how to hold in her spirit during difficult times, and how to love
Jesus Christ. She was a loving and dedicated friend and neighbor and a
faithful member of Light Baptist Church.
She was united in marriage to Lawrence (L.T.) Dulaney, May 6, 1933, who
preceded her in death on July 3, 1969, along with one son, J.C. Dulaney,
April 5, 1953, her parents John and Elizabeth Miller, four sisters and six
brothers.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law: Kay and Marcus Creel, of Light,
Goldie and Gary Wise, of Paragould, Shirley and Glen Maple, of Light, Wanda
& Fred Allmandinger, of Corning; son and daughter-in-law: Larry & Kay
Dulaney, of Powhatan; nine grandchildren: Murl, Lana, Jean Creel, of Light,
Gary Don Wise, of Paragould, Greg Wise, of Springdale, Brigitte McDonald, of
Corning, Bendi Whitt, of Little Rock, Skip Dulaney, of Trumann, Ashlee
Waleszonia, of Jonesboro; fourteen great grandchildren: Jessica Taylor, of
Stanford, Melanie Creel, of Paragould, Garrett and Grant Wise, of Paragould,
Delaney, Claire, and Ella Wise, of Springdale, Jake and Luke McDonald, of
Corning, Dylan and Kyler Dulaney, of Trumann, Karlee, Jacob and Joseph
Waleszonia, of Jonesboro, and two great-great grandsons, Landon Taylor, of
Stanford, Jaxon Gramling, of Paragould; sister: Dora Decker, of St. Louis,
and brother: Alvin Miller, of Light.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 3rd, 1:00 p.m. at Heath
Colonial Chapel with Rev. Raymond Atwood officiating. Interment will follow
at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and
grandsons-in-law.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening, 6:00 until 8:00. Memorials may be sent
to Light Baptist Church.

Rayburn Eugene Kendall
Rayburn Eugene Kendall, 78, of Paragould, passed away
January 31, 2010 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. He was born November
15, 1931 in Monette, Arkansas to Robert and Myrtle Kendall. He loved to
golf, fish, and attending Paragould Christian Church. He also served 25
years in the military, and served in both Korean and Vietnam wars, and was
the Monette Chief of police for 23 years.
He is survived by his loving wife Shirley Kendall, of Paragould, four sons
and one daughter, Randy Kendall, of Little Rock, Rodney & Carrol Kendall of
Beech Grove, Robin & Vicci Kendall of Palm Harbor FL, Kerry & Caroline
Kendall of Raleigh NC, and Dawn & Marty McClung of Paragould. Also surviving
are; three sisters Jean Tomasiewicz of Hartford CT, Beutone Berry of Dallas
TX, and Shelia Ashabranner of Monette.
He leaves seven grandchildren, Jessi Kendall Goostree, Katie Potts, Samantha
Kendall, Taylor Fears, Tori McClung, Allie Kendall, and Liam Kendall and one
Great-grandson, Kendall Lee Goostree.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Myrtle Kendall, and an
uncle, Happy Kendall.
Military Graveside services will be Wednesday, February 3rd, 11:00 a.m. at
Shiloh Cemetery with Duane Dutka officiating.
Honorary pallbearers are Steve Lancaster, Glen Anderson and James Skinner

Kevin Neal Shatley
Kevin Neal Shatley, 50, of Jonesboro, passed away Sunday,
January 31, 2010, at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.
Born January 12, 1960 in Paragould, Kevin lived most of his life in
Jonesboro. He worked as a metal fabricator and attended the Assembly of God
Church. He was a 1978 graduate of Jonesboro High School. Kevin was preceded in
death by his father, Earmon Shatley, and his sister, Donna Shatley Winters.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Shatley of the home; one daughter and
son-in-law: Meridith and Russ Pierce of Jonesboro; two sons: Garrett Shatley
and Tanner Thomas, both of Jonesboro; his mother, Opal Shatley of Jonesboro;
two sisters and brothers-in-law: Pam and Chris Flanigan, and Tammy and Mike
Fivecoat, all of Jonesboro; one brother and sister-in-law: David and Janet Shatley of Little Rock; and
several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 3rd, 2:00 p.m. in Emerson
Memorial Chapel with Rev. Matt Smith officiating. Burial will follow in
Oaklawn Cemetery.
Active pallbearers include Randy Wheeler, Tim Kinkead, Brian Fletcher, Jay
Drope, Tim Fry, and Mark Rorex. Honorary pallbearers include members of the
J.H.S. Class of 1978 and Kevin’s football team mates.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, 5:00 until 7:00 at the funeral
home.
