Bert Staton


Bert Staton, 73, of Pocahontas died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005 at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born March 28, 1931 in Greene County, he was a farmer and of the Church of Christ belief.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of the home, four stepsons, Tom Jones and Randy Jones, both of Pocahontas, Johnny Jones of Jacksonville and Phillp Jones of Hoxie; a stepdaughter, Eva Neece of Pocahontas; one brother, Wendell Staton of Paragould; two sisters, Diva Chastain of Berrien Springs, Mich., and Phyllis Kingston of Paragould; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Emily Brashears Staton.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel, with L.R. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Epsaba Cemetery at Paragould.

Active pallbearers will be Don Kingston, Jimmy Neece, Jimmy Ray Neece, Zach Staton, Jacob Reeves and Brian Staton.

Honorary pallbearers will include Brad Staton, Wendy Stovall and Gina Foster.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Elvis Earl Hendrix


Elvis Earl Hendrix, 73, of Paragould died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born at Minturn, he was a retired mechanic and house mover and member of Soul Harbor Gospel Church.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff Hendrix of Paragould and Mike Hendrix of St. Louis; five daughters, Brenda Cash of Alabama, Geraldine Hendrix of Little Rock and Bernice Morgan, Cynthia Copeland and Janice Walker, all of Paragould; one brother, Arlie Hendrix of Paragould, and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Rick Hendrix; his parents, Lee and Effie Hendrix, and one sister.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Shiloh Cemetery, with the Rev. Carter Gundstaff officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Heath Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Sammie Lynn Jones


Sammie Lynn Jones, 57, of Bono died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005 at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

He was born in Paragould and worked for Family Dollar in Jonesboro. He was a member of the Lorado Baptist Church.

Surviving are three sons, Jeffrey Ray Jones of Huntsville, Ala., Matthew Preston Jones of Bono and Patrick Christopher Burke of Dallas; one daughter, Tamara Annette Moreland of El Paso, Texas; one sister, Mary Ann Crawford of Clarksville, Tenn., and three grandchildren, Michael Emilio Chavez and Brittany Kirsten Chavez, both of Huntsville, and Piper Ashtyn Burke of Dallas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Edna Knight Jones, and his grandparents.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro, with Ernest Coleman officiating. Burial will be in the Lorado Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Lorado Cemetery Fund.

Mary C. Jordan



Mary C. Jordan, 96, of Marmaduke died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005 at Paragould Nursing Home.

Born October 8, 1908 at St. Francis, she lived in Marmaduke most of her life. She was a homemaker and member of Marmaduke First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one sister, Frances Carpenter of Marmaduke.

She was preceded in death by her husband, R.E. Jordan; her parents, Dee and Fannie McGee Polsgrove, two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Irby Funeral Home in Marmaduke, with Willyne Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Harvey's Chapel Cemetery at Marmaduke.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Reynolds, Gene Reynolds, Chris Reynolds, Brian Reynolds, Eric Reynolds and Robbie Reynolds.

Visitation will be from 4:30-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Carolyn "Sue" Meigs



Carolyn "Sue" Meigs, 72, of Hutchinson, died January 1, 2005 at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born December 29, 1932 in Paragould, Ar. to Mellville Edward and Fannie Pearl Massey Clifford. Carolyn was a longtime resident of Hutchinson.
She was a graduate of Paragould High School in 1950 and attended Hendrix College in Conway, Ar.
She was a homemaker and a former real estate agent for Continental Realty and then later worked part time for International Homes. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Carolyn's memberships included: Faculty Wives Club at Hutchinson Community College.

She married Leon Meigs on June 8, 1952 in Paragould, Ar. She is survived by: her husband, Leon Meigs, two sons, David Meigs of Phoenix, Arizona and Dan Meigs of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one daughter, Diane Arnold of Phildelphia, Pennsylvania; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents and sister, Alice Jean Clary.

Memorial service will be held at Elliott Chapel, Thursday, January 6th, at 2:00 p.m.,   with Reverend Nick Warner officiating. Friends may sign book or call 9-9, Mon.-Wed., (cremation has taken place). In care of Elliott Mortuary, memorials may be sent to American Cancer Society or Hutchinson Community College Endowment Association.

Frank Thomas Grimes


Frank Thomas Grimes, 29, of Paragould, died January 3, 2005, at the Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born at Fulda, Germany, a 1996 graduate of Greene County Tech and a Sales Associate for Wal-Mart. He was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Heather Grimes and son Carsten Thomas Grimes of the home; parents, Dene and Gisela Grimes of Paragould; brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Christy Grimes of Jonesboro, Robert and Benhart Ruck of Germany; sisters and brothers-in-law, Malisa and Buddy Henry of Sevierville, Tennessee, Judy and Keith Thompson of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Marsha and Darell West of Paragould, Tonya and Kai Haley of Newport, Arkansas and Sonya and George Burns of Tennessee; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Deborah Swearingen of Marmaduke, Arkansas; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robbie and Dayna Swearingen of Paragould and Dan and Leighann Swearingen of Marmaduke. He was also loved by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6:00-9:00 P.M. today at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. Friday at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Reverends Bob Ivy and Heath Vines officiating. Burial will follow at New Liberty Cemetery, Marmaduke, Arkansas. Pallbearers: Dan Swearingen, Robbie Swearingen, Kinon Brown, Rodney Rorex, Nathan Ingram, Derek Waymon, Bryan Tucker, Shannon Ceballos. Honorary Pallbearers: David Grimes, Robert Ruck, Benhart Ruck, Hansel Hall, Nate Herget.

Ynonie Wava McDaniel

Ynonie Wava McDaniel, 99, of Paragould, died Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at her residence.

Born June 3, 1905, in Greene County, Arkansas, Mrs. McDaniel was a retired housekeeper and farmer. She was a member of Brown's Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Conard McDaniel of Paragould; one daughter, Margie Hildbrand of Santa Rosa, California; and one sister, Beatrice Barron of St. Louis, Missouri. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin McDaniel; her parents, Dave and Cora Barnhill; two brothers, George Barnhill and R.B. Barnhill; and by three sisters, Helen Temple, Norma Barnhill, and Gilettie McDaniel.


Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 p.m., today, at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, at Brown's Chapel Baptist Church with Royce Boling officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown's Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Steel, Perry Steel, Mark Miles, Scott Storms, Johnny Spencer, and Tommy Spencer.

Velma Taylor

 

Velma Taylor, 80, of Paragould, died Wednesday, January 5th, 2005, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born January 16, 1924, in Mounds, Arkansas, Mrs. Taylor was a retired school teacher and bus driver. She was a member of the Second and Walnut Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Jack D. Taylor of Paragould; one son and daughter-in-law, Scott D. and Deborah Taylor of Justin, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Lonnie Corley of Hartsburg, Missouri; and three brothers, J.W. Evans of Paragould, Owen Evans of Campbell, Missouri, and Bob Evans of Fresno, California. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Daniel Corley, Kristen Strouss, Matthew Taylor and Emma Taylor; and by two great grandchildren, David and Lauren Strouss.

She was preceded in death by by her parents, Charlie and Myrtle Evans; four brothers, Parish Evans, John Evans, Aaron Evans and Darrell Evans; and by one sister, Lara B. Chaffin.


Visitation will be this evening from 6:00-9:00, at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Funeral service will be Friday at 1:30 p.m., at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, with James A. Brown and Owen Evans officiating. Burial will follow in the Linwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Sample, Bill Hartwick, John Back, Ed Walls, Tim Johnson and Mardy Holmes.

Jim Wesley Lenderman


Jim Wesley Lenderman, 67, of Light died Wednesday, January 5, 2005, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born in Greene County, he was a farmer and of the Baptist belief.

Survivors his wife, Connie Sue Lenderman of the home; three sons, Troy Foote of Light, Tim Lenderman of Mountain Home and Dennis Lenderman; two daughters, Rose Smith of Illinois and Jean Spears of Dyersburg, Tenn.; a sister, Jovene Kemp of Paragould; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Bobby Lenderman and Tony Lenderman; his parents, Joe Washington and Martha Reece Lenderman; a brother; a sister and a grandson.

Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. today in Mount Zion Cemetery near Walcott, with the Rev. Sammy Waller officiating. Heath Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 1:30-3 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.

Dr. Bill C. Page



Dr. Bill C. Page, 77, of Paragould, died Friday, January 7, 2005, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born June 26, 1927, in Belleville, Yell County, Arkansas, he was a general practice physician for 45 years. An Army veteran of Korea, it was during his service there that he became interested in the medical profession. Dr. Page graduated from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, completed medical school in Little Rock and received his license to practice medicine in 1955.

He began his practice in Bauxite, then moved to Corning in 1958, where he shared an office with Dr. Jack Cash. Page served Corning for 18 years then relocated to a clinic in Paragould. He later worked in the Emergency Room at Arkansas Methodist Hospital for three years before returning to Corning to the Family Medical Center for eight years until his retirement May 31, 2002.
Dr. Page saw many changes in the medical field during his career, but followed his belief that the key to being a good doctor is unflinching dedication. From the early days of the late 1950s when house calls were common, to the advances in technology such as CAT scans and MRI scans, Dr. Page treated thousands of patients, including some fourth and fifth generation ones. As a general practitioner, he was able to do a greater variety of things in medicine, such as obstetrics, surgery and trauma work.

Dr. Page was also active in the community. He was instrumental in helping Corning get its airport and was a former board member of the Corning Bank. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Paragould.

Survivors include his wife, Annetta Page; two sons, William Harmon Page, James Edwards Page and wife, Betty; and a daughter, Tracy Ellen Page, all of Paragould. He is also survived by one stepson, Jody Harrison of Stillwater, Oklahoma; one stepdaughter, Andi Harrison Crim of Sioux City, Iowa; one sister, Betty Grace Moudy of Clio, South Carolina; and by nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Johnie May Page; and by his first wife, Merle Edwards Page.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date by Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.

Willie Prston Hyde



Willie Preston Hyde, 76, of Paragould died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005 at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, N.D.

A retired factory worker, he was born in Cardwell, Mo., and was a member of the Family of God Church in Paragould.

Survivors include his wife, Imogene Hyde of Paragould; one son, Joe Hyde of Fargo; one daughter, Sandra Eagan of Paragould; one brother, Joe Edward Hyde of Ocean Springs, Miss.; one sister, Bonnie Roland of St. Joseph, Mich.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Nora Jennings Hyde, one brother, one sister and one grandson.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Greene County Memorial Gardens, with Dennis Scudder officiating. The procession will leave Mitchell Funeral Home at 1:15 p.m.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

James L. Smoot



James L. Smoot, 84, of Paragould, died January 7, 2005, at the Paragould Nursing Center in Paragould. He was a retired farmer and a member of Christ United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Smoot, daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and John Felty, granddaughter, LaDonna Joy Hill, brother, O.V. Smoot, sisters, Louise Roberts and Thelma Gilmore.

Survivors include his son, Jerry Smoot, daughter, Pauline Hill, and daughter-in-law, Betty Smoot, all of Paragould, 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6:00-9:00 P.M. today at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Monday at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Reverend Tommy Toombs officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers: John Allen Felty, Karey Joe Felty, Craig Mitchell, Cody Mitchell, Tyler Garmrath, Brady Adams, Chris Adams, and Nick Parks. Honorary Pallbearers: Gerald Pillows, Alex Garmrath, Troy Moore and Barney Howard.

Avah June Trulis



Avah June Trulis, 81, of Skokie, Illinois, died Friday, January 6, 2005, in Skokie, Illinois. Mrs. Trulis was a retired hostess for the Hyatt Regency in Lincolnwood, Illinois.

Survivors include her husband: Andrew Trulis of the home, three grandchildren: Carrie Skipper and Jerry Greitens, Jr., both of Marked Tree, Arkansas, and Thomas Greitens of De Kalb, Illinois, four great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Mrs. Trulis was preceded in death by: her father: James Davis and mother: Leona Taylor and one son: Jerry Greitens, Sr.

Graveside services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday at the Linwood Cemetery with Ron Lovins officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. to 10:15 A.M. Monday at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould. The funeral procession will leave Mitchell Funeral Home at 10:15 A.M. Monday.

Alma Louise Skaggs



Alma Louise Skaggs, 64, of Jonesboro, died Saturday, January 8, 2005 at the NEA Medical Center.
Born January 22, 1940 in Greene County, Arkansas, Mrs. Skaggs worked 20 years as a lab technician at Methodist Hospital in Jonesboro. She was a member of the North Main Baptist Church, Jonesboro.
Survivors included her husband, Alvin Skaggs of the home; one son, Brent Hopkins; and one daughter Teresa Ballew both of Jonesboro. She is also survived by one brother, Henry Howard of Paragould; six sisters, Della Jackson of Jonesboro, Stella Wrinkle of Lafe, Arkansas, Phyllis Montogomery of Payneway, Arkansas, Verna Whitney of Paragould, Linda Walker of Brookland, Arkansas, Geradline Wortham of Cash, Arkansas and by one granddaughter, Serenity Hopkins of Jonesboro.
Mrs. Skaggs was preceded in death by her parents, James and Leople Howard and by one sister, Sharon Gail Chipman.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. today at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with Tommy Stacy officiating. Burial will follow in the Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Monday at the Mitchell Funeral Home.

Kerry Hood



Kerry Hood, 29 of Paragould died Saturday, January 8, 2005. He was born and raised in Paragould. He was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandparents, Thomas and Flora Tomlinson, and his Paternal Grandmother, Edith Hood.

Survivors include: Son, Ashton Blayne Hood, Paragould; Parents, Wayne and Lena Hood, Paragould; Fiance, Olivia Breckenridge, Paragould; Brothers, Jason Hood, Paragould, Shawn Hood, Paragould; Step Son, Zackary Breckenridge, Paragould; Paternal Grandfather, Ralph Hood, Lawson OK.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Bro. Adam Breckenridge officiating and burial to follow at Memorial Gardens in Paragould with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers are Jason Breckenridge, Grant Pitcher, Jeremy Ward, Chuck Spence, Shane McDonald, and Jeff Bradley.

Timothy Charles Rowland



Timothy Charles Rowland, 27, of Paragould, died Tuesday, January 11, 2005. Born March 6, 1977, in Paragould, he was a factory worker and a member of Brown's Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Amanda Rowland of the home; his parents, Mike and Terry Rowland of Paragould; two sons, Timothy Michael Rowland, Jason Alexander Rowland, and one daughter, Kailen Brooke Rowland, all of the home. He is also survived by four sisters, Cindy Harrison and husband, Clay, of Arbyrd, Missouri, Amber Toombs and husband, J.R., Haley Rowland and Micah Rowland, all of Paragould; and by grandparents, Jean Rowland, Lola Potter, and Pat Huggins, all of Paragould.

Visitation will be this evening from 6:00 to 9:00 at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Shiloh Cemetery, Paragould, with Jesse Dollars officiating. The procession will leave Mitchell Funeral home at 10:45 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Stevie Parker, J.R. Toombs, Dave Tippet, Jason Payne, Josh Owens and Clay Harrison.

Geneva Scroggs


Geneva Scroggs, 75, of Paragould died Monday, January 10, 2005, Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born March 9, 1929, in Greene County, Mrs. Scroggs retired from Emerson Electric.

Survivors include her husband, Milton Scroggs of the home; one stepson, Jack Wall of Florida; two sisters, Wanda Dollins of Victoria, Texas, Jewel Goode of Mt. Morris, Michigan; and several step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Effie Cloud; one brother, Earl Cloud and one sister, Hazel Garner.
Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday at the New Friendship Cemetery with Lowell Ussery officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M., Thursday at the Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould. The procession will leave Mitchell Funeral Home at 1:40 P.M., Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Keith Cox, Keith Clark, Chris Ussery, Floyd Goode, Eugene Home and Jerry Clark.

Lucille Poe



Funeral services for 73 year old Lucille Poe, of Marmaduke, who died, January 2, 2005, in Arizona, will be Saturday, January 15th, in the Marmaduke First Baptist Church with Brother Kim Bridges officiating. Interment will be in Harvey's Chapel Cemetery with Irby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Poe was preceded in death by: her husband, Earl Poe: her parents, Cleo and Jessie Pinkston and a brother, Bonnie Pinkston.

Survivors are: two sons, Ron Poe of Paragould and Michael Poe of Mesa, Arizona; two daughters: Debbie Hoffman of Cave Creek, Arizona and Becky Broadway of Fayetteville, Arkansas; two brothers: Gene Pinkston of Marmaduke and Logan Pinkston of Rockford, Illinois; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers include: Mark Graham, Mike Graham, Jerry Don McIntosh, Paul Smith, Johnny Wallace, and Edward Johnson.

Visitation will be at the Marmaduke First Baptist Church on Friday, January 14th, at 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

Grace Vivian Taylor



Grace Vivian Taylor, 99, died Tuesday, January 11, 2005, at Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould.

She was born May 1, 1905, the daughter of the late Thomas Edward and Florence Sammons Weatherly. She was a homemaker and a member of Campground Methodist Church.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn (Bill) Taylor; sister, Lorene McKelvey; four grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

She was survived by her sons, Thomas Taylor, W. Darrell Taylor both of Paragould, James (Jim) Taylor of Hardy; daughters, Willodean Rickman, Anna Barrow; sister, Adamae Stout, all of Paragould; 13 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 30 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Friday, Campground Methodist Church with burial following in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be tonight from 6:00-9:00 P.M. at Heath Funeral Home.

Colister Ruth Haralson



Colister Ruth Haralson, 91, of Paragould, died Wednesday, January 12, 2005, at the Greene Acres Nursing Home.

A homemaker, Mrs. Haralson was born October 17, 1913, in Attalla, Alabama.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, J.B. and Reta Moore of Anderson, Texas, Travis and Veria Moore of Paragould; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eddie Moore; her second husband, Luther Haralson; and by seven siblings.
Private services will be held at a later date under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.

Rhonda Kay Priest Moore



Rhonda Kay Priest Moore, 53, of Detroit, Michigan, died January 10, 2005.

Born in Marmaduke, December 29, 1951, he is survived by husband, Dick Moore of the home in Detroit, her father, Henry Priest of Jonesboro, her mother Mikie Lou Coates of Marmaduke, five brothers, Marshall Priest of Colorado, Thomas and Charles Priest of Jonesboro, Allen Priest of St. Louis and Mark Coates of Paragould. One sister, Ann Bryant of Paragould.

She was a 1971 graduate of Greene County Tech High School.

The body will be cremated and her ashes buried at a later date in a cemetery near Marmaduke.

Aaron "Josh" Cliff 22, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born in Jonesboro, he was a lifetime resident of Jonesboro, was the manager of Gee Street Pawn Shop and attended Friendship Assembly of God.

Survivors include his mother, Wanda Cliff of Jonesboro; his father, Junior Cliff of Jonesboro, and a brother, Adam Cliff of Jonesboro.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Ragsdale officiating, assisted by the Rev. Bobby Sanders. Burial will follow in Cross Roads Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jim Cliff, Larry Cliff, Ryan Ray, Shannon Ray, Teddy Brandon and Daniel Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will include Colin Williams and Anthony Norvell.

Amy Abigail Pratt



Amy Abigail Pratt, 80, of Paragould died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, at St. Joseph's Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs.

Born in the Childress community, she was a homemaker and member of Cockrum Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son, Frankie Leon Pratt of Hot Springs; a brother, Winfred League of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Betty Whitehead of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Naomi League of Hardy, and three grandchildren, Frankie Pratt Jr. of Little Rock and Kristin Jayroe and Clint Jayroe, both of Marion.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Pratt; her parents, James Franklin and Molly Abigail Goodman League, and a sister.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Greene County Memorial Gardens, with Eddie Dunigan officiating. Burial is under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Paragould.

Jon Alan Williams



Jon Alan Williams, 49, of Paragould died Saturday at Jonesboro.

He was born August 11, 1955 in Morrilton, Arkansas the son of Christine Williams and the late Floyd C. Williams, Jr. He practiced law in Paragould for 22 years and was a member of Seventh and Mueller Church of Christ. He was past president of the Paragould's Lion's Club, past president of the Board of director's of the Crowley's Ridge Department Council, served as a board member of Mission Outreach, and member of the Greene/Clay Counties Bar Association and the Arkansas Bar Association.

He is survived by his wife, Melisa Massey Williams; daughters, Callie and Maggie all of the home; mother, Christine Williams; brother, Paul Williams; sister, Denise Northcutt all of Morrilton, Arkansas; father and mother-in-law, Loy and Freda Massey; special friend, Roy Whitton all of Paragould.

Funeral services are today, 2:00 PM at Seventh and Mueller Church of Christ with Larry McFadden officiating, under the direction of Heath Funeral Home. Interment will be immediately following in Linwood Cemetery.

Shirley Ellis Faulk



Shirley Ellis Faulk, 90, of Paragould died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born at Craighead County, he was a retired dragline operator and member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Brummett Faulk of the home; three sons, Gaylon Faulk of St. Louis, Danny Faulk of Jonesboro and Lynn Faulk of Lake City; one daughter, Sue Freeman of Paragould; two brothers, Doyle Faulk of Ontario, Calif., and Donald Faulk of Paragould; two sisters, Bonnie Campbell and Louise Woods, both of Paragould; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rozella Faulk, and his parents, Claude Elisha and Elsie Irene Nutt Faulk.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. G.W. Endicott officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Leonard Thomas Fortenberry



Leonard Thomas Fortenberry, 76, of Paragould died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005 at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born in the Rock Hill community north of Jonesboro, he worked for Southern Box for 17 years, was a baker for Meyers Bakery for 17 years and retired from Lincoln in Jonesboro. He was a member of Lorado Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Swindle Fortenberry of the home; three sons, Stan Fortenberry and Jack Fortenberry, both of Jonesboro, and Don Fortenberry of Rector; four daughters, Donna Street, Kathy Davis and Terrie George, all of Paragould, and Pattie Hernandez of Jonesboro; a brother, Libern Fortenberry of Jonesboro; nine grandchildren, Stacey Shirley, Elizabeth Clayton, Christina Rauls, Richie Street, Kolby George, Alaina Fortenberry, Clara Fortenberry, Kaitlynn Hernandez and Megan Fortenberry; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony Hubert and Lura Brooms Fortenberry, three brothers, two sisters and one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Lorado Baptist Church, with Ernest Coleman and Leonard Lingenfelter officiating. Burial will follow in Lorado Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Nina Lynn, 68, of Jonesboro, who died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005 at her residence, will be at 1 p.m. today in the chapel of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathy Ann Stacy.

Billy Verdone Payne



Billy Verdone Payne, 65, of Leachville died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005 at his residence.

Born at Paragould, he was a longtime resident of Paragould, moving to Leachville seven years ago. He was a retired meat cutter and had worked as an auto body repairman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Myrtle Lambert Payne, one brother and one sister.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Howard Funeral Service of Leachville. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Mr. E. E. "Cotton" Craig, 89, died Tuesday, January 18, 2005, at Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould.

He was born September 12, 1915, in Greene County the son of the late F.C. "Bud" and Cozetta French Craig. He was a musician and attended Second & Walnut Church of Christ. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Georgia, a sister and one brother.

He is survived by his son, Terry Edward Craig; daughter, Sherry Beth Craig; and sister, Verniece Cunningham of Powhattan, Arkansas.
Funeral services are Thursday, 1:00 P.M. at Heath Colonial Chapel.

Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 P.M. tonight at Heath Funeral Home.

Billy Bland Bridges



Billy Bland Bridges, 79, of Paragould, died Sunday, January 16, 2005, at his residence.

Born October 15, 1925, in Bragg City, Missouri, Mr. Bridges retired from Ford Motor Company, Dearborn, Michigan.

Survivors include one daughter, Sharon LeBean of Taylor, Michigan; three brothers, J.E. Bridges of Leachville; Mack Bridges of San Antonio, Texas, Charles Bridges of Marmaduke; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Bridges; his parents, James Edward and Jewell Bridges; three sons, Jackie, Richard, and David Bridges; three brothers; and one sister.

Private services will be held at a later date under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.

Jennie Anderson Beauchamp



Jennie A. Beauchamp, 72, died Jan. 9, 2005, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.

She was born Oct. 1, 1932, in Paragould, AR. She was a graduate of Paragould High School in the class of 1950.

She and her first husband owned and operated the Noel Insurance Agency in Middletown, IN.
Survivors include her husband, David Beauchamp of Chesterfield; children, Dick and Tim Noel of Middletown; a grandson, Hunter Beauchamp of Middletown; a sister-in-law, Joyce Anderson and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oather and Esther Anderson; a brother, Bill Anderson, and her first husband, Dorsey W. Noel.

A memorial service was conducted at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service in Anderson, officiated by Dick Noel.

Conward Lee Thacker, 63, of Marmaduke died January 19, 2005 at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at Smithville, he was retired from Emerson Electric Company and a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church.

Emma Jean Stallcup

Mrs. Emma Jean Stallcup, 77 died Thursday, January 20, 2005 at her home in Paragould. She was born, April 30, 1927, in Beech Grove the daughter of the late William and Martha Davidson Edwards.

She is also preceded in death by her husband, Amos and brother, Ray Edwards. She was homemaker and a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church.

She was survived by her son, Rick Stallcup; daughter, Debbie McDaniel; brothers, Houston Edwards, Billy Edwards, all of Paragould and Clifton Edwards of Beech Grove; grandsons, Chris Camp, Tim Camp, Chad Stallcup; granddaughter, Leslie Stallcup; great grandchildren, Zac, Will , and Ty Camp and Andrew McDaniel.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, Heath Colonial Chapel with Reverend Royce Boling officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Greene County memorial Gardens.

Byron "Barney" Foresythe


Byron "Barney" Foresythe, 74, Fort Walton Beach, Florida, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 18, 2005.

Barney was born April 30, 1930, in Marmaduke, the son of the late Robert L. and Daisy Smith Foresythe. He was a graduate of Paragould High School and Troy State University. He served his country faithfully for 28 years in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed traveling, visiting all 50 states and 37 foreign countries. Barney was passionate about RVing, enjoying the great outdoors and artifact collecting.

Barney was preceded in death by his loving wife, Faye P. Foresythe.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Linda G. and Chris Tarver of Seagrove Beach, Florida; brothers and sister-in-law, Eddie Foresythe of Las Vegas, Nevada; Dale and Barbara Foresythe of Mountain Home; sisters and brother-in-law, Nadine and Donnie Gardner of Kanaub, Utah; Nadgerine Tinsley of Paragould; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Van and Shelby Harvey of Paragould; Jean and Bob West of Memphis, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday, 10:00 A.M., Heath Colonial Chapel with Reverend Kim Bridges officiating. Burial will follow at Harvey's Chapel Cemetery.

Reggie Nichols



Reggie Nichols, 82, of Paragould died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born at Baldwyn, Miss., he moved to the Jonesboro area in 1948, then to Paragould in 1986. He was a World War II Navy veteran and farmed for many years.

He worked at General Electric in Jonesboro from 1968-1983. He was a member of Bethel Station Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son, Larry Nichols of Brookland, Keith Nichols of Jonesboro and Andy "Tony" Nichols of Leavenworth, Kan.; a brother, Aubrey Nichols of Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Shawn Nichols, Chad Nichols, Shannon Nichols, Joseph Nichols, Adam Nichols, Derrick Nichols and Elijah Nichols; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Nichols; a daughter, Paulette Nichols; and a grandson.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Emerson Funeral Home's Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Kenny Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Woods Chapel Cemetery near Paragould.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

James Ralph McMurtry


James Ralph McMurtry, 78, of Paragould, died Saturday, January 22, 2005, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Mr. McMurtry was born on November 8, 1926, in Stonewell, Arkansas. He was retired from Emerson Electric and a member of the Reynolds Park Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife: Ruby McMurtry of the home, two sons and daughters-in-law: Jim and Janie McMurtry of Paragould, Tim and Cheryl McMurtry of Lafe, Arkansas, one daughter and son-in-law: Susan and Kenneth Foresyth of Paragould, one sister: Emma Lee Draper of Flint, Michigan, two grandchildren: Ryan and Erin McMurtry

Mr. McMurtry was preceded in death by: his parents, Ernie and Byrd McMurtry, two brothers, four sisters and three grandchildren.

Rose B. Rippy, 75, of Paragould died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005 at her residence.

Born at Greene County, she was of the Pentecostal belief.

Survivors include two sons, Johnnie Rippy and Bennie Rippy, both of Paragould; two daughters, Dianna Coffel of Paragould and Susan Tracer of Rector; two brothers, Jim Lawson of Paragould and Kenneth Lawson of Lansing, Mich.; one sister, Clara Ford of Paragould; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Rippy' her parents, Jess and Addie Lawson; four brothers and one great-grandchild.

Steven Dale Sparkman



Graveside services for Steven Dale Sparkman, 30, of Jonesboro, who died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Monette Cemetery.

Born at Paragould, he lived in Lake City before moving to Jonesboro several months ago. He was a 1992 graduate of Riverside High School and worked as a welder for American Railcar Industries.

Survivors include his wife, Keri Sparkman of the home; his parents, Jimmy and Joyce Sparkman of Lake City; two brothers, Daniel Sparkman of Lake City and Terry Sparkman of Trumann; and his maternal grandmother, Perlie Sneed of Caraway.

He was preceded in death by one sister, his maternal grandfather and his paternal grandparents.

A celebration service for Jerry Sparks of Jonesboro, formerly of Caraway, who died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005, at his residence, will be at 10 a.m. today at First Assembly of God, 1404 Stone St.

Born in Southeast Missouri, he moved to Caraway, where he farmed for many years. He later moved to Jonesboro and continued to farm until his retirement. He was chosen Outstanding Farmer of the Year.

Survivors include his wife, Claudine Jackson Sparks of the home; three daughters, Gale Williams, Debbie Perkins and Michelle Davis, all of Jonesboro; one sister, Betty Busby of Paragould; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one grandson.

Eugene Edward Wayer



Eugene Edward Wayer, 79, Hardy, formerly of Paragould, died Sunday at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was the retired owner and operator of Wayer Sheet Metal.

He was born June 6, 1925 in Dubois, Illinois the son of the late Steven and Martha Wayer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Sue, son, Steven, and brother, Larry.

He is survived by his sons, Michael of Hardy, Joseph of Paragould; brothers, Alfred and Clarence Wayer, both of DuQuoin, Illinois; sisters, Gertrude Walker and Verjean Hoffman both of St. Louis, Missouri, four grandchildren and one expected great grandchild.

Born at the Bard community, she was retired from Ely and Walker and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.

Born in Jonesboro, he was a member of Southside Community Church.

Charlene Kennedy



Charlene Kennedy, 87, of Rector died Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at Johnson's Regional Medical Center at Clarksville.

Born in Greene County, she was a longtime resident of Rector. She was a homemaker and member of Tokio Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Henry Ford Kennedy of the home; two sons, Gary Kennedy of Gaithersburg, Md., and Roger Kennedy of Clarksville; one daughter, Jane Huffman of Rector; 10 grandchildren, Michael Kennedy, Cobi Hendrix, Heather Huffman, Jon Huffman, Chanda Hendricks, Michele Romito, Casey Kennedy, Amber Kennedy, Ruby Kennedy and Allyson Kennedy; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Christopher and Eva Jane Meredith Kennedy, four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Irby Funeral Home chapel at Rector, with Donnie Morris and Ken Roden officiating. Burial will be in Cudd Cemetery near Marmaduke.

Pallbearers will be J.D. Chadwick, James Lyles, Mike Dowdy, Hoss Phillips, Earl Clayton and Doran Thompson.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Howard M. Lemmond



Graveside services for Howard M. Lemmond, 89, of Jonesboro, who died Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at NEA Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Mount Zion Cemetery near Walcott.

The Rev. Jerry Jolly will officiate and burial will be under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Born in Morgan County, Ala., he lived in Pontiac, Mich., before moving to Jonesboro in 1979. He was retired from General Motors and a member of Temple Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Sherman Lemmond of Decatur, Ala.; five daughters, Elizabeth Lowe and Janet Sue Smith, both of Wichita, Kan., Modene Gaulke of Montrose, Colo., and Luejean Whittaker and Pat West, both of Jonesboro; one brother, Paul Lemmond of Alabama; one sister, Lola Grady of Alabama; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lemmond; his parents, Allison and Clara Lemmond; one brother; and one sister.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lorene McKinney



Graveside services for Lorene McKinney, 87, of Arkadelphia, who died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005, at her residence, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Lawrence Memorial Park at Walnut Ridge.

Leroy Scudder will officiate and burial will be under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge.

Born at Delaplaine, she attended school at White Oak and lived in Walnut Ridge most of her life until moving to Arkadelphia in 1970. She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Stephen McKinney of Arkadelphia; two brothers, Claude Riggs of North Little Rock and Dr. Orval Riggs of Little Rock; two sisters, Velma Clark of Long Beach, Calif., and Naoma Wilcox of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one grandson Robert Lee Gilmore of Austin, Texas; one great-grandson; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond McKinney; one daughter, Menona Gilmore; one son, Stanley McKinney; and her parents, James and Menona Metheny Riggs.

Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Lela DeLois Thomas



Lela DeLois Thomas, 90, of Paragould died Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at her residence.

Born at Paragould, she was a retired owner-operator of a restaurant and of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include her son, Richard E. Thomas and wife Debbie of Paragould; daughter Barbara Lynn Lilly and husband Don of Bossier city, Louisiana; one brother, Harold Reddick of Paragould; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

She was the daughter of the late Humphrey and Lilly (Biggs) Reddick and was also preceded in death by brothers, Edgar, Burl, Elbert and Doyle Reddick and sisters, Violet Rippy, Lillian Williams, Modean Kline and Amanda Kersten.


Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Robert Piercy and the Rev. Marc Reeves officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Randall Williams, Gary Williams, Roger Reddick, Keith Williams, Chris Blackshear and Doyle Reddick Jr.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Station Baptist Church.

Glen Allen Brooks



Glen Allen Brooks, 52, of Paragould, died Tuesday, January 25, 2005, at his home.

Glen was born and raised in the Paragould area. A 1971 graduate of Paragould High School, he was a dedicated employee of Emerson Electric of 33 1/2 years.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Adams Brooks of the home; one brother and sister-in-law, David and Sue Brooks of Jonesboro; his uncle and aunt, Charles and Faye Shipp of Paragould and two cousins, David and Chuck Remagen.
Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Joyce Brooks; his grandparents, J.N. and Willodean Troxler and Cora Shipp, and by a close personal friend, Mike Gray.

Funeral services will be Friday, 10:30 A.M., at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with Kenneth Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., today at the Mitchell Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will include Bill Miller, Derrick Miller, Daniel Potter, Joey Potter, Glen Andis, and Don Wagster.
Memorials may be made to the Greene County Library, Hospice, of to the charity of the donor's choice.

Helen Mayberry



Helen Mayberry, 93, of Paragould, died Thursday, January 27, 2005, at the Paragould Nursing Center.

A retired cook, Mrs. Mayberry worked at Tony's Restaurant for fifteen years. She was a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Dortha and Arthur Huffman of Paragould; one sister, Della B. Pickett of Flint, Michigan; eleven grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; and fourteen great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Mayberry; two sons, Sonny and Pete Mayberry; one daughter, Ruby Folkes; one grandson, Franklin Folkes; and by five brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M., today at the Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Saturday, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with Glen Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Linwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Richard Mayberry, Gary Mayberry, Bill Mayberry, Terry Huffman, Steve Huffman, and Ken Wyman.

Myrtle Lorene Lamb



Myrtle Lorene Lamb, 82, formerly of Paragould, died Thursday, January 27, 2005, at Sherwood, Arkansas.

Born July 10, 1922, in Jonesboro, she was a farmer and homemaker.

As a follower of Christ, Mrs. Lamb was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church near Walcott, Arkansas, and was an active Sunday school teacher and GA leader in her early years and an incredible prayer warrior all her life.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Susan Lamb of Springfield, Missouri; one daughter and son-in-law, Kaye and Conley Williams of Centerton, Arkansas; one brother, J.H. Burton of Walcott; two sisters, Mary Alma Hoffman and Jamesena Cox, both of Paragould and by one brother-in-law, Alton Lamb of Paragould. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Tauny Emery of Collierville, Tennessee, Patrick Lamb of Tacoma, Washington, David Lamb of Colorado, Mark Williams of Centerton, Arkansas, Melinda Singleton of Oden, Arkansas, Leah Williams of Little Rock, Aaron Farmer of North Little Rock, and Jonathan Price of Paragould; and by nine great grandchildren.
Mrs. Lamb was preceded in death by her husband, Onis Lamb; one son, Glen Lamb; and one daughter, Kathy Gunn.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with Conley Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. today at the Mitchell Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Mark Williams, Aaron Farmer, Jonathan Price, Chris Singleton and Danny Emery.

Neville Mitchell


Neville "Mitch" Mitchell, 75, of Paragould died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at his residence.

He was retired from the Air Force, having served in Vietnam, Korea and Japan. He received two Silver Stars, a Bronze Star and the Air Force Commendation Medal.

He was a Baptist minister and a member of Lafe Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Reba Mitchell of the home; a daughter, Diane Mitchell of Plano, Texas; two brothers, Sanford Mitchell of Frankfort, Ky., and Manford Mitchell of Louisville, Ky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Eulala Perry Mitchell, and a brother.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel of Paragould, with the Rev. David Poe officiating.

Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Houston, Karl Hamblen, Nathan Edgar, Rudy Hufford, Winford Jones and David Howe.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Bernard's hospice program.

Gerald Edward DuBar



Gerald Edward DuBar, 42, of Manila died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Growing up in the Monette area, he lived in Northeast Arkansas all his life.

Survivors include a daughter, Christy DuBar of Paragould; his father, Jack DuBar of Bono; five brothers, Eddie DuBar and Gene DuBar, both of Jonesboro, Elbert DuBar of Bono, Vernon DuBar of Lake City and Earnie DuBar of Sidney, Australia; a sister, Gloria DuBar Brown of Jonesboro; and a grandson, William Layne of Paragould.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Louise Boyd DuBar.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, with Greg Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Cross Roads Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Rickey Wilkey, Wesley DuBar, Marcus DuBar, Allen Davis, Steve Boyd and Mike Wayer.

Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mathel Almeda Tate


Mathel Almeda Tate, 90, formerly of Paragould, died Saturday, January 29, 2005, at Heritage Manor, Peru, Illinois.

Born April 4, 1914, in Paragould, Mrs. Tate was a homemaker and a member of Finch Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Mack Tate of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Larry Tate of Orlando, Florida, Gary Tate of Fort Mitchell, Alabama; and one daughter, Carolyn Cuijan of Ottawa, Illinois. She is also survived by two sisters, Ima Lenderman of Corcoran, California, Lola Wells of Lindsay, California; fourteen grandchildren; and by eighteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edgar Tate; her parents, James and Maude Cleveland; one son, Junior Tate; two brothers; three sisters; and by one grandchild.
The funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, at Finch Baptist Church with Terry Gage officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the Finch Cemetery.

John Porter Martin

John Porter Martin born 24 Oct. 1923 in Paragould, Greene County, Arkandied 16 January in Tiff City, Missouri. 

He is survived by his wife Glenna Deene (Burdick) Martin of the home,

2 daughters Pamela Ann (Joe) Higinbotham of Kansas, Kathryn Eunice (Jeff ) Sutton of Missouri, and one son John Alton (Newlyn Nicole) Martin of Tiff City, Missouri and 5 grandchildren. 

He is also survived by a daughter by his previous marriage to Sarah Frank in Paragould, Charlotte Diane Martin (married name unknown) of Illinois. 

He is preceded in death by his parents John Everett Martin & Effie (Wilkins) Martin of Paragould, a sister Edna Marie (Martin) Peak of Paragould, a sister Effie Grace (Martin) Tippitt of Flint, Michigan and a brother Joseph Eugene Martin of San Bernardino, California. 

Burial arrangements are pending.
