Jimmy Eli Smith
 


Jimmy Eli Smith, 71, of Paragould, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at his home. Jimmy was born August 17, 1940 in Caraway, Arkansas. Jimmy was a member and past president of the Exchange Club of Paragould, member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Paragould, past scout master for Boy Scouts of America, Troop 500, and a retired painting contractor.

Survivors include his beloved wife: Teresa Mae (Bibb) Smith, of the home; children: Sheila (Smith) and Ken Swain of Arlington, Tennessee; James Eli and Laurie (Chance) Smith of Azle, Texas; Steven Roy Smith of Fort Worth, Texas; Jennifer (Smith) and Joe Schreit of Paragould; granddaughters: Jessica (Jessie) Elizabeth Swain of Arlington, Tennessee; Joanna Elizabeth Schreit, Margaret (Maggie) Myrick Schreit and Lena Carolina Schreit, all of Paragould; grandsons: twins, Luke Bailey Smith, Joshua Earvy Smith of Azle, Texas; and Eli Frank Schreit, of Paragould; step-sister: Charlene Haney Ford; sister-in-law: Pat (Smith) Ratton both of Paragould; brother-in-law: R. C. Johnson of New Hartford, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Eli Smith, mother and stepfather, Roy and Lena Gertrude Holland Haney, brothers, James Paul Smith, Carter Montel Smith, Rufus LeeDell Smith, sisters, Alta Fern (Smith) Johnson, Charlotte Lugene (Smith) Bredensteiner and step sister, Viola Haney Wadley.
A public rosary will be held Friday evening, 6:00 p.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with visitation following from 6:30 until 8:30 also at the chapel. His life will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Saturday, February 4th, 10:00 a.m. with Father Mike Sinkler and Deacon Rex Bouldin officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Howard Smith, Tom Johnson, Tim Johnson, Keith Medsker, Larry Beliew, Dillman Cupp, Harold Hutcheson and Joe Zollner.

Reverend Don Russell Williams
 



Reverend Don Russell Williams, 81 of Paragould, passed away Wednesday February 1, 2012 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
Born February 24, 1930, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a retired Methodist Minister.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jones Ellis and Sybil Calberta Cooper Williams and an infant brother. Survivors include his wife, Roella Williams of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Alma Rita and James Hastings of Beech Grove, AR, Rhonda Gail and David Wicker of Tomball, TX, Donna Roberta and Brian Williams of Paragould; brothers David McNeil Williams and Moyl Williams both of Paragould, grandchildren, Carman Slate, Adam and Ryan Saulsbury, Evan Curtis, Brian Williams, Jr. and Brionna Williams, seven great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 3rd, 1:00 p.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with Revs. David Bush and Angie Gage officiating.
Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church in Paragould.

Nora L. Dalton
 


Nora "Pat" Dalton, 93, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould. She was born September 26, 1918 to Rev. G.A. and Nora Lee Crocker in Marmaduke, Arkansas, and was a member of the Marmaduke First General Baptist Church.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, two sisters and her beloved Grandmother: Mary Etta Hill.

Mrs. Dalton is survived by her husband: Jack Dalton of the home; sons: Richard Lee Evans of Modesto, CA, John Dalton (Carmel) of Sacramento, CA, Dave Dalton, of Mullins, South Carolina; seven grandchildren, a brother: Orbrey Crocker of Warner Robbins, GA, and special family members: Maelena (Louis) Phillips, Kitty (Dewayne) Witcher; and Keith (Susan) Hill of Paragould.

Graveside services will be Saturday, February 4th, 1:30 p.m. at Gainesville Cemetery with Bro. Marston Carpenter officiating.

Gene Skinner, Louis Phillips, Dewayne Witcher, Keith Hill, Michael Henley and Lyndall Harris will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the Arkansas Alzheimers Association.

Beverly Joan Reynolds



Beverly Reynolds, 68 of Marmaduke passed away February 2, 2012 at her residence. She was born September 24, 1943 to the late W.W.and Frances "Frankie" (Polsgrove) Carpenter. She played the piano for 42 years at the Marmaduke 1st United Methodist.

Surviving Beverly is her husband: Donnie Reynolds, three sons: Gene Reynolds of Marmaduke, Chris Reynolds of Marmaduke and Brian and Laura Reynolds of Marmaduke, eight grandchildren: Eric and Brook Reynolds, Robbie and Stephanie Reynolds, Brett Reynolds, Abbi
Medlin, William and Adrien Reynolds, six great-grandchildren: Jace Jackson, Madison Reynolds, Brock Reynolds, Paige Reynolds, Kaci Reynolds and Aubrey Reynolds.

Visitation will be Saturday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at the Irby Funeral Home in Marmaduke. Funeral services will be Sunday, February 5th, 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Wayne Baldwin officiating. Interment will be at the Harvey's Chapel Cemetery.

Willie Lawrence Davis
 


Willie Lawrence Davis, age 85, of Leachville, passed away Thursday February 2, 2012 at Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould. Born at Corinth, MS he was the son of the late Oscar and Lillie McMinn Davis and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a retired Cotton Ginner for the former Nelson Henry Gin Co. of Leachville. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mrs. Odell Johnson Davis in 2008, 1 son, Willie Davis and 2 brothers.

Survivors includ: sons, Ricky Davis and his wife Bonnie of Leachville, Roger Myrick of Carrolton, TX., daughters,
Dorothy Spurlock and her husband Mike of Temple, TX.., Sharon Miner and her husband Jacky of Paragould, AR

He also leaves 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several great-great and great-great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Sunday, February 5th, 2:00 p.m. in the Leachville Cemetery with Rev. Lee Davis officiating. Services are under the direction of Howard Funeral Service.
The family will receive visitors Saturday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.

Reverend Billy John Nunally
 


Reverend Billy John Nunally, 69, a longtime resident of Paragould passed away Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Arkansas Methodist Hospital. He was born July 29, 1942, in Paragould, to the late Varner and Lila Belle Nunally. He was a Christian, a minister for over 30 years, a longtime area resident, enjoyed fishing, playing ball and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Ada Nunally of the home; one son, John Nunally of West Plains, Mo.; two daughters, Tammy Bohannan of Neosho, Mo. and Mary Bass of West Plains; two grandchildren, Katie Schula and Tiffany Porter; two great-grandchildren, Kaiden Jones and Taylor Schula; and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Jim Nunally.

Funeral services will be Sunday, February 5th, 3:00 p.m. at the Trinity Full Gospel Church in Paragould with the Rev. M. W. Ray and the Rev. Truman Wycoff officiating. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould under the direction of Faith Funeral Service in Manila.
The family will receive visitors Sunday 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.

Pallbearers will be Major Ray, Artis Roush, Rusty Poe, James Roush, Ike Smith, Jason McCloud and James McCloud.

Bruce McCarley
 


Bruce McCarley, 78, of Paragould, passed away Friday, February 3, 2012, at Belle Meade Healthcare. He was born March 17, 1933 and was a retired woodcutter.

Survivors include a caretaker and her husband, Kathy and Jackie Cole; and a good friend, Tommie Friar.

Visitation will be Monday morning, 9:00 until 10:00 a.m., prior to services at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Graveside services will be conducted Monday, February 6th, 10:30 a.m. at Meadows Grove Cemetery, Beech Grove, with Dennis Scudder officiating. The procession will leave Mitchell Funeral Home at 10:05 a.m., Monday.

Clifford Dowler


Clifford "Wayne" Dowler, 75 of Paragould passed away Friday, February 3, 2012 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould. He was born December 19, 1936 in Lafe, Arkansas the son of the late Bert and Ruth Wilson Dowler. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Tony, Jack and Jim Dowler, sisters, Marie Martin, Sena Cole and Bertha Davidson.

He was a 1956 graduate of Lafe High School and a U.S. Army Veteran. Wayne was retired from General Motors in St. Louis after 35 years and was member of East Side Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with family, working in the yard and loved spending time at the lake.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta White Dowler, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law: Terry and Bronwyn Dowler of Springfield, Missouri, Tim and Lisa Dowler of Paragould; brothers: Bill and Larry of Paragould, Harold and Jerry of Lafe, and Robert of Marmaduke; sisters: Gloria Lacy of Florsitell, Missouri and Cheryl Jones of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; grandchildren: Wesley, Stephanie, Sarah and Seth Dowler of Springfield, Missouri; Brittney, Brooke and Brady Dowler of Paragould.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening, 5:00 until 7:00 at Heath Funeral Home. His life will be celebrated Monday, February 6th, 10:00 a.m. at the Heath Colonial Chapel, with Reverend's Eddie Gene Wright and Jason Noel officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Ray Bert Dowler, Scott, Dowler, Todd Lacy, Devin Jones, Trent Dowler, and Bert Dowler.

Gary Don Camp
 


Gary Don Camp, 67, of Paragould, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2012. He was born July 26, 1944 in Paragould.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 9th at 12:30 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Royce Boling officiating.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, former Mayor of Paragould, Bob Camp, and his mother, Mary Camp. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Bud Camp; and his daughter-in-law, Stacy Camp.

Gary is survived by his two sons and a daughter-in-law, Britt Camp, and Jason and Eva Camp; and a daughter and son-in-law, Millie and Eddie Leach, all of Paragould. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Garret and Gunnar Latham, Jace, Jaxson, and Ava Camp; one sister, Jean Harris of Jonesboro; and sister-in-law, Connie Boyd of Paragould.

Gary was a graduate of Paragould High School and Crowley’s Ridge College. Gary served his country from 1962-1968 as a Marine. After the Marine Corps, Gary became a successful business owner of Camptown Music. Gary was an entrepreneur to say the least.

Gary was paralyzed in a car accident, April 9th, 1979. He became involved in the world of paralyzed sports, mainly wheelchair racing. He competed as a member of the P.V.A. (Paralyzed Veterans of America) race team in events and several Olympics across the United States. Gary was known as a fierce competitor and inspiration to so many.

Phyllis Pankey



Born June 11, 1944, Phyllis Pankey, 67, of Marion, AR, formerly of Marmaduke, AR passed away February 4, 2012.

She was preceded in death by her parents, V .G. ”Shorty” and Virginia Cooper, one uncle, Dwight Turberville, and a brother-in-law, Bill Manning.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Pankey, of Marion, AR; one sister, Bonnie Manning of Rector, AR; brother and sister-in-law, Jackie and Judy Cooper of St. Louis, MO; four nieces, Michele Haley of Rector, AR; Jennifer Roberts of Fort Smith, AR; Charlotte Wagner of St. Louis, MO; and Renee King also of St. Louis, MO.

Other survivors are her brothers-in-law, Charles and Sims Pankey of Sacramento, CA; nephews, Carl Pankey of Paragould, AR and Chris Pankey of Blytheville, AR and her dear friends, Jeff and Jenise McGee family of Marion, AR; also a host of other friends and family.

Visitation will be held Monday evening, February 6th, 6:00 until 8:00 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 7th, 11:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Harvey’s Chapel Cemetery in Marmaduke, AR.

Margie Lee Randles
 


Margie Lee Randles, 86, Paragould, went to be with her Lord Sunday, February 5, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Margie was born November 1, 1925 in Greene County the daughter of the late Jack and Vestal Thomason. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ivory, twin infant brothers, Billy Joe and Bobby Jay and brother, Ray Thomason. She was a member of East Side Baptist Church.

Survivors include her brothers and sisters-in-law: James and Oma Lee, Hugh and Alice, Jackie and Alline, and Herbert and Willadean Thomason; sisters and brothers-in-law: Ann and AJ Nicosia and Bonnie and Jerry Scott; and fourteen nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 7th, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. with funeral services following at 1:00 p.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel. Reverend Clyde Cook will officiate. Interment will follow at Center Hill Cemetery.

Jess Wayne Hart
 


Jess Hart, 84, of Paragould, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould. Born June 20, 1927, in Jonesboro, he was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Hart was the owner of Hart’s Welding and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Raymell Hart of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Jerry Greene and Brenda and Clyde Richey, all of Paragould. He is also survived by his sister, Irene Keller; his grandson Jeff Greene his wife, Sherrie; and two great grandchildren, Jessica and Joshua Greene, all of Paragould

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Frye; his parents, Jess and Opal Hart; and a brother, Jarrel Hart.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening, 6:00 until 9:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Funeral services will be Thursday, February 9th, 10:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Royce Boling officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.

Dolores Catherine Shofner

 


Dolores Catherine Shofner, 85, of Paragould, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould.

She was born June 15, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois, and was a homemaker.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Becky Shofner of Reed Springs, Missouri; and one daughter and son-in-law, Madeline and Ted Sixkiller of Paragould. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Tina Essick, Charissa Bates, Melissa Brewer, and Chad Sixkiller; and five great grandchildren, Elizabeth Bates, Madeline Bates, Jillian Bates, Colton Essick, and Alexis Essick.

Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in Oklahoma City at a later date.

Chester Leroy Jenkins



Chester Jenkins, 88 of Paragould passed away February 6, 2012 at the Arkansas Methodist Hospital.

Chester was born January 10, 1924 to the late Mallie Jenkins and Gladys Robertson.

Surviving Mr. Jenkins is a son and daughter-in-law: Alan and Terri Jenkins and his grandson: Blake Jenkins all of Paragould.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 8th, 2:00 p.m. visitation will be prior to services 1:00 p.m. at the Irby Funeral Home in Rector.
Interment will be at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Gregg J.Z. Griggry
 


Gregg J. Z. Griggry, 56, passed away February 6, 2012 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. He was born on September 9, 1955 to the late J. Z. and June Griggry.

Mr. Griggry was a truck driver who loved his work and liked to hunt and fish.

He is survived by his wife Irene Griggry; one son, Matthew Gregg Griggry of Hoxie; one step-son, Chris Foulks of Paragould; one step-daughter, Sheila Foulks of Hartwell, GA; one sister, Ruth Ann Sims of Alaska; four grandchildren, Noah Parker, Carter Foulks, Chasney Griggry, and Cooper Foulks.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, John and Bernice Griggry.

The family will receive friends Thursday, February 9th, 11:00 a.m. until1:00 p.m. at the Phillips Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Don Slatton officiating. Burial will be at Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Alene Hyatt
 


Alene Hyatt, 86, of Paragould, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould.

Born June 5, 1925, in Sikeston, Missouri, Mrs. Hyatt was a retired nurse and a member of West View Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Glenn Nihart, and Marilyn and Greg Marlar all of Paragould. She is also survived by six grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Hyatt; her parents, Edward and Alma Constance; grandsons, Joshua Myles and Glenn J. Nihart, Jr.; one brother, Charles Constance and a sister, Hazel Turner.

Visitation will be Friday prior to graveside services, 12:30-1:30 p.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Graveside services will be conducted Friday, February 10th, at 2:00 p.m. at New Friendship Cemetery with Wayne Faulkner officiating. The procession will leave Mitchell Funeral Home at 1:40 p.m., Friday.

Donald Almquist
 


Donald Roger Almquist, age 68, of Paragould, passed from this life, Wednesday February 8, 2012 at the Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould. He had been a longtime resident of Minnesota before making his home in Paragould. He attended Arkansas State University and had been an employee of Greene County Excavation Company.

Survivors include; son, Dean Almquist of Paragould, two daughters; Deanna Almquist and Denise Wolfe, both of Paragould.

He also leaves 5 brothers, 9 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

Funeral service will be scheduled at a later date in Minnesota. Local arrangements were handled by Howard Funeral Service of Manila.

James Arlon Thomas, Sr.
 


James Arlon “Jimmy” Thomas, Sr., 82, of Paragould passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

He was born February 15, 1929, in Greene County, to Lawson and Daisy Thomas. Mr. Thomas was a farmer and a 32nd degree Mason. He attended First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Sanctuary Class.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Thomas of the home; five children and their spouses, Becky and Gary Fitzgerald, James and Rhonda Thomas, and Carol Thomas, all of Paragould; Diane and Roger Roush of Jonesboro, and Sarah and Clint Beutelschies of The Woodlands, Texas.

He is also survived by six grandchildren, Tim (Haley) Fitzgerald, Sheree (Bart) McMillen, Jamie Thomas, Matthew Thomas, Laura (Brock) Wooldridge, and Madison Beutelschies; six great grandchildren; one niece, Gail Jackson; and one nephew, Harry Thomas, Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Harry Thomas.

Willodean Wiggs

Willodean Wiggs of St. Charles, Missouri, formerly of Lafe, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, at the age of 87. She was the loving wife of the late Henry Lee Wiggs; beloved daughter of the late William Houston and Ilena Mangrum; devoted mother of Paul (Debbie) Wiggs and Phillip (Cindy Bichsel) Wiggs; cherished grandmother of Angie (Jimmy) Lashly, Amanda Wiggs, Robert (Melissa) Tasios, George (Stephanie) Tasios, Stacey (Roger) Davis, Stevye (Nick) Hartwig, Phillip Wiggs II, and Joshua (Gina) Lovelace; treasured great-grandmother of Cody, Stephanie, Clayton, Dillon, Evan, Landon, Tanner, Brandy, Audrey, Kristen, Morgan, Devin, Daytona, Aspen, and Colin; and great-great grandmother of Hunter. Willodean is preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Ann Wiggs.

Joe Farley age 73 of Hardy, Arkansas passed away Thursday, February 9, 2012 at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas. He was born August 12, 1938 at Greene County, Arkansas to Stewart and Maxine (Woodson) Farley. Joe loved all things natural; animals and plants. He spent his leisure time fishing and helping people of the community. He spent his early career in Special Ops in the Army and later as a computer programmer. Joe was a most dedicated father and joyful husband.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two nieces.

Survivors include his wife Phyllis McWhorter of the home; two sons, Wade Farley of South Bend, IN. and Jason Farley of Cameron, MO.; two daughters Carmen Farley Barnes of Gladstone, MO. and Cathy Farley Matheis and husband George of Georgetown, KY.; two brothers, Max Farley and wife Sandra of Merritt Island, FL.and Danny Farley and wife Debi of Stuttgart, AR.; two sisters Norma Trent and husband Raymond of Ash Flat, AR. and Glenda Kovalcin of Paragould, AR.; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 11th, at 12:00 p.m. at the Tri-County Funeral Home Chapel located in Highland, Arkansas with Keith Gregson officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Grove Cemetery near Paragould, Arkansas.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 11th, 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Tri-County Funeral Home Chapel.
All arrangements are by Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland, Arkansas.

Beverly (Wagner) Wilson, 46, of Paragould passed away Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She was born July 12, 1965 at West Memphis, AR to Robert and Linda Louise Wagner and served in the U.S. Navy.

She loved her kids and her little dog, Sparky, held a special place in her heart. She was a very loving person who had time for all her family and friends.

Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her grandparents, Darris and A.J. Smith and Truman and Nannie Mae Wagner.

Survivors include her parents; husband, Bobby Wilson of Jonesboro; one son, William Aaron Bradley Wilson of Paragould; two daughters, Michelle LeAnn Wilson and Chanell Nichole Wilson of Paragould; one brother, Robert Andrew Wagner of Paragould; two sisters, Deborah Lanell Wagner-Hodges and Angela Lynette Wagner-Everett of Cherry Valley, AR.

Stella Bernice Freeman, 85, of Walnut Ridge Nursing Home, formerly of Paragould, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2012. She was born June 24, 1926, in Lawrence County. She was retired from Arkansas Methodist Hospital and Greene County Library in Paragould. She was a member of the West View Baptist Church in Paragould.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Maude Manning Whittaker; husband, Leslie A. Freeman; daughter, Bonnie Carpenter; brothers, Carl Whittaker and Walter Whittaker; sisters, Viola Frye, Marie Shackleford, Christine Herzog and Aileen Bennett; one great-grandson, Jordan Robert Davison.

She is survived by daughters, Regina Kennedy of Cherokee Village; Vonda Edwards of Paragould and Cindy Barker of Jonesboro; sons, Reggie Freeman of Annieville and Steve Freeman of Paragould; sister, Betty Sue Walthoff of Grundy Center, Iowa; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday, February 13th, noon until 1:00 p.m. in the House Gregg Funeral Home Chapel of Walnut Ridge. Graveside services will follow in Strangers Home Cemetery with Mark Reeves officiating under the direction of House Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge.

Melba Doris Boggs, 89, of Paragould passed away Friday, February 10, 2012 at Greene Acres Nursing Home. Melba was born January 24, 1923. She was the retired owner/operator of Melba’s Nursery and a member of the 1st Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Harvey Boggs; brother and sister-in-law, Billy Bob Cole and Doris Cole White, her parents, Robert Luther and Mildred Mozelle Stanton Cole, and nephew, Mark Cole.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, George and Susan Boggs of Clarksburg, WV; grandchildren Kyle, Kristin, and Erica.

Joby Allen Condray, 68, of Henderson, AR, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012, at his home. He was born June 26, 1943 in Wayne County, Missouri the son of the late Joby Edward "Mitch" and Eufa Jane Brinkley Condray. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Michelle Condray, grandson, Hunter Condray, brothers, Ed, Bob and Leroy Condray. He was of Baptist belief and loved woodworking, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife: Shirley Condray, of the home; son and daughter-in-law: Ronnie and Cindy Condray of Lafe, stepchildren and their spouses: Debbie and Keith Lochridge of Jonesboro, Lillian and Terry Buchman of Cabot, Linda and Rickey Dennis of Evening Star, and Wayne Flanery of Corning; brother and sister-in-law: Donald and Diane Condray; sister: Dorothy Crafton, all of Beech Grove; granddaughter: Athena Condray; 14 step grandchildren and 15 step great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 14th, 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Heath Funeral Home. His life will be celebrated at Heath Colonial Chapel, 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, with Reverend Richard Williams officiating. Emory James Clifton, 87, of Paragould, passed away February 11, 2012 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Born April 25, 1924 in Greene County, he was a retired farmer and member of Evening Star Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Clifton of the home: One step son, Sheldon Nix of Beech Grove; three step grandchildren, Stephen Nix, Christina Staggard, and April Cook, and by three step great grandchildren, Kaydince Warren, Landon Warren, and Sierra Nix.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Emma Clifton; one step son Kelly Nix; one grandson, Brandon Nix; one great grandson, Kelly Ray Nix, and by one brother, Fermond Clifton.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 14th, 1:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with L. R. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday prior to services.

William H. Forkum, 89, of Paragould, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012, at Belle Meade Healthcare. He was born February 7, 1923, at Stanford, Arkansas the son of the late Dave and Nellie Lands Forkum. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Harold and Buford Forkum and sister, Helen Lenderman. He was a farmer, Baptist and loved to garden.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Forkum, of Belle Meade Healthcare and brother, Bobby Forkum of Paragould.

Dorothy M. (Lahrman)) Hall, age 76, of Paragould passed away Sunday, February 12, 2012 at St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center. She was born January 17, 1936 at Sturgis, MI to the late Erving and Ethel Lahrman. Ms. Hall loved to play bingo and was a member of the V.F.W. Club.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands, Harold Hall and Darrel Metz Sr.; one son, Charles Metz; two daughters, Lura Metz and Mary Ann Metz; one grand baby, Jeanette Metz and one great grandchild, Paige Zorn.

Survivors in include three sons and daughter in laws, Darrel and Angie Metz Jr. of Paragould, Terry and Romona Metz of Marmaduke and Virgil and Joyce Metz of Jonesboro; one daughter, Sherry Metz of Paragould; two brothers, Gene and Bob Lahrman; two sisters, Betty McClusky and Margie Unruh; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Edward Wayne McMinn, 72, of Starkville, Mississippi, formerly of Paragould, passed away Monday, February 13, 2012, at Oktibbeha County Hospital, Starkville.

Born May 21, 1939, in Sturgis, Mississippi, to Clarence and Sallie McMinn, he was a retired sales representative for Jonesboro Bearing and Supply. Mr. McMinn was a past member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda McMinn of Starkville; one son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Lori McMinn of Paragould; and one daughter and son-in-law, Becki and George Davis of Starkville. He is also survived by two sisters, Billie Thomas of Thomson, Georgia, Helen Pickens of Edmond, Oklahoma; and five grandchildren, Lindsey and Levi McMinn and Kirby, Morgan, and James Davis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jim and Clyde McMinn; and a sister, Moselle Riley.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening, 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Leona Frances Martin Settlemoir, 88, passed away Monday, February 13, 2012 in Rome, Georgia. Mrs. Settlemoir was born February 14, 1923, a lifelong resident of Paragould, growing up there and raising her own family.

Mrs. Settlemoir was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Settlemoir; a daughter, Carletta Settlemoir; a son, Donnie Settlemoir; a sister, Floy George; and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Martin.

Mrs. Settlemoir is survived by three sons, Gary Settlemoir of Brookland, Mike Settlemoir of Paragould, and Mark Settlemoir of Rome, Georgia; grandchildren, Eric Settlemoir of Paragould, Tara DePaulis, Donnie Scott and Jeremy Settlemoir all of Lowell, Massachusetts, Brandon Settlemoir of Cave Spring, Georgia, Brooke Jennings of Calhoun, Georgia, and Brittany and Taylor Settlemoir of Rome. She is also survived by great grandchildren, Billy and Bobby Settlemoir, Kasey Jennings, Drusilla DePaulis, and Hunter Settlemoir; two nieces, Sharon McCoy, Brenda Leasure; and one nephew, Gus Broyles.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, February 16th, 6:00 until 8:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Thomas N. Micheli



Thomas Nelson Micheli, 62 of Jonesboro passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. Thomas was born November 22, 1949. He was a former teacher and store manager for Dollar Tree Stores. He was a devout Christian and a member of Reynolds Baptist Church.
Thomas proudly served in the U. S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Geno and Jesse Micheli of Bakersfield, CA and a son, Robert Keith Micheli of Lansdale, PA.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Michael White of Jonesboro; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and B. J. Micheli of Paragould; sister, June Micheli of Gardnerville, NV; grandchildren, Lauren Goodman, Ashlyn Micheli, Anna White and Madalyn White.

Jodie Gramling May, 80 of Paragould, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould. Jodie was born May 24, 1931, at Stanford, the son of the late Carroll and Mathal May.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Ellen Corthell. He was a member of the Stanford United Methodist Church.

Christine Landrum Parr



Mrs. Christine Landrum "Chris" Parr, of Harrisburg formerly of Florence, Alabama, went to be with her Lord Tuesday morning, February 14, 2012, at the St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, at the age of 55.

She was born April 29, 1955, in Florence, the daughter of Charles Louis Landrum and Lillian Louise Wright Landrum. Chris married Al Parr on June 19, 1972 and they enjoyed 40 years together as husband and wife. She was a homemaker and a collector of souvenir spoons, bears, and Russian Stacking Dolls. Years ago she also operated a sewing business and daycare from her home. She enjoyed anything to do with a needle and thread and over the years made many, many clothes, quilts, etc. She was a member of the Harrisburg Church of Christ, where her husband Al Parr serves as pulpit minister.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lillian Landrum and a son, Lee Harold Parr.

She is survived by her husband, Al Parr of the home; a son, Will Louis Parr of Tyler, Texas; a daughter, Angela Christine Babenko and her husband Sasha of Sherwood; a daughter in law, Misty LaDaugn Parr of Paragould; a brother, Charles Louis Landrum, Jr. and a sister, Viva Louise Vaden, both of Florence, Alabama; six grandchildren, Kaylee Nicole Parr, Allie LaDaugn Parr, Blakeli Marie Parr, Natasha Autumn Paris Babenko, Yekaterina Dakota Babenko and Vladimir Lee Armand Babenko.

Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2012, at the Harrisburg Church of Christ with Mr. Keith Cozort officiating. Interment will follow in Harvey's Chapel Cemetery at Marmaduke.

Mary Erma Lou Vangilder Hooker, 78 of Paragould, was born December 26, 1933, in Greene County, she departed this life Thursday February 16, 2012 at her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Cecil Hooker, parents, John and Eula Richardson Vangilder; sons, Johnny Wayne Johnson and David Ray Hooker.

Mary Kathryn Martin, 83, longtime resident of Paragould passed away Thursday February 16, 2012 of ovarian cancer at Skillcare Nursing Center in Jonesboro. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and active in local and state United Methodist Women activities. She was a retired office worker, having worked at the Ed White Shoe Factory and Brewer Brothers. She was a former member of the Greene County Quorum Court, active in the Democratic Party and local politics. She was a volunteer at the Arkansas Methodist Regional Medical Center and an avid bridge player.
 

She was born on April 14, 1928 in Paragould to Robert E (Bob) and Minnie Jenkins Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Betty Herron and husband Jerry of St Louis, Jo Ann Staelens and husband Joseph of Clearwater, FA, and brother-in-law Richard Hoessli of Salem. Survivors include a brother, Charles Robert (Bob) Martin of Paragould, a sister Patricia (Patty) Martin Hoessli of Lancaster, Ohio, a nephew Sean Hoessli of Hollywood CA, a niece Dena Herron Draper and husband Michael of St Peters, MO and their two children Michael and Melissa.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 20th, 1:30 p.m. at Heath Chapel, Paragould with the Reverend Angie Gage officiating. Gaylon Doyle Dorris, 66, of Rector passed away February 18, 2012, at Rector Nursing and Rehab.

He was born November 10, 1945, in Rector to the late Walter (Buster) and Vera “Reynolds” Dorris. He was married to Sandra Phillips in 1965 to this union two daughters were born.

He was of the Baptist faith and was a Musician by trade.

Survivors include daughters, Dena Green and husband Amos of Rector and Tammy Johnson and husband Dale of Piggott; six grandchildren, Amanda Green, Derek Green, Jade Green, Daniel Johnson and wife Alex, Kevin Johnson and Kalon Johnson; six great-grandchildren Hayden , Dakota, Colby, Phoenix, Aubrey and Charlie and many other family and friends.

Willie Hay Cozart

 


Willie (Hay) Cozart, 93, went to her lord Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Greene Acres Nursing Home. Willie had been a lifetime resident of Paragould/Greene County. She was born July 22, 1918 and was raised in the Bethel Baptist Station area until she met and married Charlie Cozart, October 15, 1938. They raised one son and four daughters on Highway 1 South. Willie was a member of Pruett’s Chapel United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the United Methodist Women and held many offices within the church. She and Charlie owned/operated Cozart’s Grocery from 1964 – 1968. She was always there to help a neighbor or church member in need. Willie and Charlie were lifetime members of the Arkansas Antique Car Club.

Willie was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Cuba (Barfield) Hay; a sister, Era Tharp; two brothers, Alfred and Tillman Hay, and by her husband and only son, Jerry.

She is survived by daughters Gail (Jerry) Austin, Donna (Keith Weatherford) Hyde, Rita (Charles) White, and Judy (Mike Rudi) Cozart. She is also survived by grandchildren Damon Austin, Sabrina Austin, Barbara (Lele) Mackin, Teri Lee Linson Kristina Bolick, Robert White and Billy Hyde.

Great grandchildren, Tyler, Brianne, and Jake Austin, Kody Stallings, Emily Mackin, Mikee Burton, Garrett Youngblood, Kassidy and Zak Bolick, and Jathan and Olivia Hyde.

Jimmie Arthur Willcoxson, 72, of Paragould, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2012, at Walnut Ridge Nursing and Rehab. He was born October 4, 1939 in Walcott, and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

He is survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, his caretaker, Jim Diggs, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy Earnest “Cowboy” and Lizzie Opal Willcoxson; and by one brother, Mack Wilson Willcoxson.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 21st, 1:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Sam Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. until service time.

Joe Wayne Honeycutt
 



Joe Wayne Honeycutt, 62, Paragould, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2012 after a long illness, at his home. He was born December 18, 1949 in Tupelo, Mississippi, the son of the late Herbert and Marie Hill Honeycutt.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Marie Dell and brother, Larry Honeycutt.
Joe was the owner and operator of Honeycutt Detail Shop where he also sold used cars and was a member of New Life Temple Ministries.

Survivors include his daughters: Trina Ladee Honeycutt of Powhatan; Jodie Ray of Paragould; Tori Jo Kaffka of Jonesboro; son: Joe Wayne Bills of Paragould; sisters: Karen Barnett of Brookland, Janice Newcom of Jonesboro; brothers: Gene Honeycutt of Brookland, Jerry Honeycutt of Black Oak; eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 22nd, 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Heath Funeral Home. Everyone will meet at Pine Log Cemetery for graveside services, at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, with Rev. Jerry Hayes officiating.

John Robert Dawson
 


Mr. John Robert Dawson, 90, of Paragould, passed away Monday, February 20, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. He was born July 31, 1921, the son of the late Green and Bell Dawson in Sharp County, near Hardy.
He was also preceded in death by his dear wife, Dortha Lee South Dawson, brothers, Henderson, Bryan, Luther, Herbert, and Mitchel Dawson, sisters, Willie Whitsel, Letha Huckabee, Luna King, Euna Meddress, and Lela Henry. Mr. John farmed most of his life until July, 1942 when he was inducted into the U.S. Army Air Corps Air Transport Command and spent 3 1/2 years in the service. He retired from L. A. Darling Store Fixtures after almost 20 years. Mr. John loved to grow beautiful flowers, loved good music, especially Big Band Music. He said, "Saturday night never passed without watching the Lawrence Welk Show." Mr. John was a devout Christian who truly loved the Lord. He sang in the choir and loved to sing solos.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Terena and Doyle McDaniel; granddaughter: Amber Faith McDaniel, all of Paragould and several nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. His life will be celebrated at Heath Colonial Chapel, Thursday, February 23rd, 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Clyde Cook officiating.
Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Helen Funk



Helen (Eubanks) Funk, 78, passed from this life Monday, February 20th at St. Bernard’s Medical Center, Jonesboro.


She was born July 22, 1933 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma to Neal and Neva Eubanks. As a small child, Helen, her parents and older sister Afton, often traveled to Arkansas where the family started a dairy farm. While attending Harding University, she met John Funk and they married December 24th, 1953. Helen attended the Memphis College of Arts and also participated in art workshops in Boone, North Carolina and Cincinnati, Ohio. Over the years, several banks purchased her paintings.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Neal and Neva Eubanks; sisters, Afton Brennan and Elizabeth Acuff.

Survivors include her husband, John; daughter and son-in-law, JoAnna and Jeff Hyde; many dear cousins and precious friend of 65 years, Sue Cline

Those wishing to send lasting memorials are asked to consider Children’s Homes of Paragould, Crowley Ridge Academy or charity of choice.

Carlos Jackson



Carlos Jackson, son of the late Grady and Maggie Tacker Jackson, was born April 22, 1922, in Finger, TN., and passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at the Arkansas Medical Center in Paragould, at the age of 89.
He married Juanita Deck, who preceded him in death on February 3, 1996. He married Helen Green, October 2, 2003, in Senath, MO.

Mr. Jackson was U.S. Air Force veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Green Jackson, of Senath; two sons, Sonny Jackson and wife, Pam, of Senath and Scottie Jackson and wife, Lila, of Senath; one daughter, Gail Smith and husband, Donnie, of Rolla, Mo.; one brother, Ralph Jackson, of Sikeston, Mo.; one sister, Barbara Roark, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; six grandchildren, Chris Jackson, Matt Jackson, Daniel Jackson, Dustin Jackson, Bradley Jackson and Jason Smith; four great-grandchildren, Cally Jackson, Reece Jackson, Max Jackson and Cameron Smith; two step-sons, Gail Wayne Green and wife, Kathy, of Senath and Terry Green and wife, Becky, of Fort Worth, Texas; four step-grandchildren, Megan Green, Jessica Baldwin, Shad Green and Michele Gary, and other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe Neal Jackson, Max L. Jackson and W.T. Jackson; one sister, Mae Nell Cates and a granddaughter, Jill Smith.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath.

Funeral services will be Friday, February 24th, 10 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Senath with Rev. Vernon Purser and Bro. Jody McFadden officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.

Joe Mitchell Taylor, Sr.
 


Mr. Joe Mitchell Taylor, Sr. of Newport, Arkansas departed this life Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at the age of 72. He was born Joseph Mitchell Taylor, III, April 10, 1939, in Paragould, Arkansas the son of Joseph Mitchell Taylor, II and Ruby Wilma (Turner) Taylor.
Mr. Taylor was a 1957 graduate of Poplar Bluff High School in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, after which he attended college at Arkansas State College in Jonesboro where he graduated with a BSE in business in 1961.
He made his home in Newport, Arkansas in 1972 when he began working at the Campbell Station Cabinet Shop. He later became owner and operator of the Campbell Station Cabinet Shop, Taylor Made Ambulance, Taylor Ford, and Taylor Chrysler in Newport. For the past 40 years, he has been an active and vital part of the business community, increasing jobs, serving on various committees and boards and promoting growth in Jackson County. Mr. Taylor was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Newport.
He enjoyed playing golf, spending time on the water, and traveling. Mr. Joe Taylor, Sr.’s greatest love was his family. The time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren gave him his greatest joy.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jackie (Venable) Taylor of the home; three sons who were privileged to work alongside their father, Joe Taylor, Jr. and wife Stanita, Jim Taylor and wife Christel, and Blake Henley and wife Kathi all of Newport; seven grandchildren, Brent Taylor, Hope Taylor, Shelby Taylor, Daniel Henley, Madden Mae Taylor, Emma Jo Taylor, and Sarah Grace Henley; two sisters, Virginia Lee Imershein and husband Richard of Salem, South Carolina, and Margaret Elizabeth Crosley of Fishers, Indiana; his mother in law, Dee Daugherty of Newport;
brother in law, Jim Venable and wife Diana of Conway, Arkansas; special friends, Carolyn and David Gray, several nieces, nephews and a lifetime of friends.

A service celebrating the life of Joe Taylor, Sr. will be held Monday, February 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with Father Russ Snapp officiating.

Ruth Pace McGinnis, age 96, passed away in Crestview Healthcare Center in Brownsville, TN. Thursday, February 23, 2012. Graveside Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 25th, 10:00 a.m. at Linwood Cemetery in Paragould, Arkansas.

Mrs. McGinnis graduated from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, she was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Teacher's Sorority, the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association and taught elementary school for 25 years. While living in Paragould she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Paragould.
Mrs. McGinnis was preceded in death by her husband: M/Sgt. Walter McGinnis, her parents: Arthur and Pearl Thomason Pace, son in law: Tom Lea, a brother: Lawrence Pace and a sister: Glenace Pace Rayburn.

Opal Christine Batton Brotherton, 86, of Paragould passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould.

She was an Avon representative and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors are three daughters, Saundra Hatley of Corning, Karen A. Batton of Paragould and Nadra Ann Smith of Mountain Home; son, Earl Randal Batton of Paragould; one step-daughter Jean Saak of St. Charles, Mo.; two sisters, Nadine Cate of Greenville, Mo., and Laney Mae Roberts of Salem, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Earl Batton and Frank Brotherton; parents Jessie and Flossie Stanley; two brothers, Cecil and Terrell Stanley; and a daughter, Cheryl Dawn Batton.

She was born February 20, 1919 at Manila, Arkansas the daughter of the late Edgar Harrison and Viola Mae Berry McDonald. Frieda was also preceded in death by her husband, Calvin C. Smith and sister, Veda Underwood. She was a member of the 2nd & Walnut Church of Christ and a retired teacher from Stanford School District.

She is survived by her daughter: La Rhea Bolin of Paragould; sons: George Smith of Oxford, MS, Cal C. Smith of Flowery Branch, GA; sister, Zelda King of Conway; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Mangrum and the late Minnie Pearl Ruth Irvin Miller. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers and one sisters. She was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting, sewing, quilting and cooking with her family.

She is survived by her husband: Luther Street, of the home; sons: Danny Lee Street of Pasadena, TX, Darryl Eugene Street; daughters: Sandra Jean Hanagan of Newton, Iowa, Patty Ann Szalay of Pasadena, TX, Shirleen Law of Palm Springs, CA, Shirley Lynn Campbell of Webb City, MO, Lisa Pinkley of Hemet, CA; fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Barbara Regina Cook



Barbara Regina Cook, 77, of Jonesboro left this world behind on February 25, 2012. Barbara was born December 27, 1934 in Nettleton, Arkansas to LF and Bessie Barshaw. Barbara worked at Jonesboro High School for 32 years, Central Baptist Church and at the Farmers Market in Jonesboro. Upon retirement her love for children landed her a position at First Baptist Church’s daycare. She felt all the children were hers to spoil, she loved them as her own. She had a great love of God and desired to lead all children to him.

She is survived by daughters Kathy Holcomb and husband, Jim, Cynthia Howard and husband Randy; and a son, Frank Cook and wife Quin. She leaves behind eight grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Jeff Cook, Jr.; and a precious grandson, Shane Jeffery Holcomb.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 29th, 11:00 a.m. at Crossroads Cemetery, at Lorado with Tommy Stacy officiating.

Ollie Mae Williams, 89, of Paragould, went to meet the Lord Saturday evening, February 25, 2012 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She was born November 18, 1922 in Clearlake Township, IL. the daughter of the late William and Olivia Stone. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Gordon Williams Sr., sisters, Mabel, Henryetta, Catherine and Christina Stone, brothers, John and Bill Stone, daughter, Mary Ellen Martin, son, Hugh Gordon Williams Jr.

During her life, Ollie Mae was drawn to the elderly which was characterized by her 60 plus years as a Certified Nurses Assistant with 40 years of service at Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould. It was through this commitment to serve others that Ollie Mae truly demonstrated the love of Christ. Ollie Mae was dearly loved by many and will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.

She is survived by daughters: Darlene Moore of Fairdealing, MO; Karen (Rick) Adams of Lakeland, TN; Brenda (Charles) Goodwin of Brookland; sons: Steven (Monica) Williams of North Las Vegas, NV; Charles (Jo Anne) Williams of Paragould; sister: Jenny Lueck of St. Peters, MO; brother: Frank (Lois) Stone of Manasses, VA; thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Born August 6, 1979, in Paragould, she was formerly a home health worker and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her parents, Jesse and Lynn Amick; one son, Dylan Jaques; one daughter, Christine Robinson, all of the home; one sister, Alicia Richardson; and her maternal grandmother, Eugenia Thompson, both of Paragould.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Sam and Maude Amick; and her maternal grandfather, J. W. “Soapy” Thompson.

Louise Welch, 85, Lafe, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2012, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. She was born June 30, 1926 in Lafe the daughter of the late Charles and Louise Harms Lueker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harlan Welch, brothers, Erwin, Carl and Benard Lueker, sisters, Alma Hoelscher, Ruda Panhorst, and Pauline Wallace. Louise was retired from Southwestern Bell and was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she participated in the Young at Heart group and Ladies Aid and Bizarre.

She is survived by her sister: Lydia Tritch of Hooker and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon, February 28th, 3:00 until 4:00 at St. John's Lutheran Church with services following at 4:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Curt Dwyer officiating. Interment will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.

Kenneth Wayne Brown

 

Kenneth Wayne Brown, 66, of Paragould died Sunday, February 26, 2012, at his home.

Born September 21, 1945, at Blytheville, he was the son of Ray and Helen Ashabranner Brown and had been a longtime area resident.

Mr. Brown served his country in the U.S. Army and enjoyed going to the river, being outdoors and spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Brown was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his mother; Helen Brown of Brookland; a son, Chuck Brown and wife Johnice of Paragould; a daughter, Melissa Pennie of Paragould; eight grandchildren, Woodra Reeves, Brittni Brown, Harmony Brown, Garrett Pennie, Dalanie Whitaker, David Jackson, Joshua Jackson and Daniel Jackson; three great-grandchildren, Aiden Reeves, Damon Brown and Isabella Jackson; a sister, Carolyn Trammel of Brookland; and brother, Danny Brown of Conway. Mr. Brown also leaves a host of other family and friends.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his father, Ray Brown; a grandchild, Jimmy Jackson; sister, Annette Arenas; nephew, Ronnie Arenas; and brother-in-law, Rene Arenas.

Memorial services will be Saturday, March 3rd, at 2:00 p.m. in his home at 177 Greene 838 in Paragould. The family has requested a private committal service under the direction of Faith Funeral Service of Manila.

Emma Mary Pitcher, 79, of Paragould passed away February 27, 2012 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She was born December 28, 1932 at Stanford, Arkansas to the late Dick and Mattie Kersey. Mrs. Pitcher was self employed and loved her work and gardening.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Larry Edward Pitcher; one brother, Orvil Kersey; and one sister, Florie Page.

Thelma Pauline Dearin, 90, of Calverton Park, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 27, 2012, at Christian Hospital, St. Louis.

Born February 2, 1922, in Peach Orchard, Mrs. Dearin retired from St. Louis Hardware, and was a member of the Midwest Church of Christ, Ferguson, Missouri.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ray Dean and Sharon Dearin of Ames, Iowa, Bobby Gene and Marcia Dearin of O’Fallon, Missouri; one brother, W. C. Taylor, Jr. of Paragould; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Dearin; her parents, W. C. and Pearl Taylor Sr.; one brother, R. V. Taylor; and four sisters, Reba, Monzell, Ruth, and Inez.

Aubriana D. Coke
 

 

Aubriana D. Coke, 2, of Monticello, Arkansas, passed away Monday, February 27, 2012 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. She was born November 17, 2009, in Paragould.

She was a Baptist and was preceded in death by her great-grandfather, Floyd Stuard.

Survivors include her mother, Victoria Lynn Pedraza of Monticello; her father, Timothy Coke of Paragould; grandparents, Brenda Stuard and Shawna Rundel, both of Paragould; great-grandparents, Carolyn Stuard of Warren and Darolyn Weatherspoon of Marmaduke; her great-great-grandmother, Louise Richardson of Warren; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 2nd, at 10:00 a.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel, with burial in Outlaw Cemetery in Bradley County. Visitation is Thursday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.

Logan "L.F." Bean

 


Logan (L.F.) Bean, 80, of Jonesboro, passed away February 29, 2012 at Skill Care Nursing Center. He was born February 12, 1932 in the Dixie Community to Elmer & Edith Coy Bean.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth Bean; one niece, Ranae (Bean) Clayton.

He is survived by three brothers, Paul (Bonnie) Bean, Jonesboro, Harold (Bernice) Bean, New Ulm, Texas; Clarence (Jr) Bean of Brenham, Texas; nephew, Paul Jr. (Debbie) Bean; great nephews Josh and Zach Bean and their families, Jonesboro; several other nieces, nephews, many cousins; friends at Trinity Baptist Church, Dixie; and employees at Skill Care Nursing Center.

Graveside services will be Saturday, March 3rd, 2:00 pm at Linwood Cemetery in Paragould with Paul Bean and Kenneth Winningham officiating. His nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be Saturday 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.

James Henry Garner
 


James Henry Garner, 81, of Paragould passed away February 29, 2012 at The MED in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born May 18, 1930 in Paragould to Albert Clyde and Orah Della (Rowe) Garner. He was of Church of Christ faith and a Watchmaker- Jeweler by trade. In his younger years, James enjoyed beekeeping and skydiving. He was always looking for some new places to hunt and fish.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Ivie Josephine (Ellington) Garner; one brother, Curtis Garner; two sisters, Marcella Hanley and Wava Sims.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, William Henry “Hank” and Leslie (Garnier) Garner of Camas, Washington; one brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Darlene Garner of Paragould; three grandchildren, Sarah Ellington, Kate Leigh Garner, and Leah Halverson Garner.

The family will receive friends, Sunday, March 4th, 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Emmett Smith officiating.

Burial will be at Woods Chapel Cemetery.

The Garner family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Jerry Winemiller, Brian Oden, Kim McDonald, Air Evac, Arkansas Methodist Ambulance Service, The University of Tennessee – Memphis Burn Unit, and the Volunteer Firefighters.
