Kathelyn Adams
Kathelyn Adams, 77, of Paragould, died Thursday, February 2, 2006, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born May 8, 1928, in Paragould, the daughter of the late Leslie and Esther McDaniel Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Adams. She and her husband were the owners and operators of Johnny's Restaurant, and she was a member of Center Hill Church of Christ. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Ann and Dean Rollings of Lafe, and Penny Adams of Newport; a sister, Pat Hall of California; two brothers, Sherman Johnson of Paragould, and Bob Johnson of Hardy; grandchildren, Leslie Stallcup, Michelle and Bruce Smith, and Christopher and Jennifer Rollings; and great-grandchildren, Braden Smith and Carleigh Rae Smith. The family will receive friends from 6-9 tonight at Heath Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Heath Colonial Chapel, with Jon Brinkley and Gary Morris officiating. Doyle Alexander Faulk
Doyle Alexander Faulk, 87, of Claremont-Ontario, California, formerly of Washington, Arkansas, died Thursday, February 2, 2006, at Veteran's Hospital in Loma Linda California. Born August 5, 1918 in Lake City, Arkansas, he was a farmer and an engineer. Survivors are his wife, Hilda Faulk of Washington, Arkansas; four daughters, Connie Weir of Claremont, California, Alice Wiebe of Upland, California, Marcy Hall and Jennifer Wolfinbarger of Fontana, California; three sons, George Faulk of Montclair, California, Clark Faulk of Phelan, California and Doyle A. Faulk, Jr. of Washington, Arkansas; 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two sisters and one brother, Bonnie Campbell, Louise Higgins-Woods and Donald Faulk all of Paragould. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claud Faulk; a brother, Shirley Faulk; and a son, Mark Faulk. The visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2006, at Heath Funeral Home with a graveside service and burial to follow immediately at Linwood Cemetery.
Virgil Ernest Hartsell
Virgil Ernest Hartsell, 83, of Neelyville, formerly of Paragould, died Thursday, February 2, 2006, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Born October 22, 1922, in Tuckerman, Mr. Hartsell retired from Martin Sprocket and Gear. He was a member of Fellowship Southern Baptist Church in Harviell, Mo. Survivors include his wife, Julia Olene Hartsell of Neelyville; and three daughters, Lavon Pierce of Corning, Loretta Hardin of Neelyville, and LaWanda Hooten of Paragould. He is also survived by two sisters, Parnell Miller and Betty Adams, both of Malden, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Addie Hartsell; two daughters, Lola Morgan and Laverne Warren; one son, Larry Ray Hartsell; one grandson, Ricky Welch; three brothers, Harold Richards, Billy Wayne Richards, and Vernon Hartsell; and by one sister, Dorothy Atchley. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Sunday at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould. John Ruben Jackson, III, 32, of Paragould died Saturday, February 4, 2006 at his home. He was born Nov. 20, 1973, in St. Louis, Mo, the son of John Jr. and Edna Jones Jackson. He was employed by Emerson Electric and was of the Baptist belief. He is survived by his wife, Heather Morrow Jackson; son, Jeremy Jackson; and daughter, Caitlyn Jackson, all of the home; parents, John and Edna Jackson; and sisters, Cyndi Hoots and Teresa Fisher, all of Paragould. He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Jackson. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Heath Funeral Home. Bob Gene Lang
Bob Gene Lang, 71, of Paragould died February 4, 2006 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Born Dec. 31, 1934, at Paragould, he was the former owner of Lang's Fire Extinguishers, Inc. which he founded in 1966, retired from the Paragould Fire Department in 1992 after 28 years of service and was a member of First Assembly of God. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Lang of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin Gene and Jackie Lang of Paragould; one daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and Mike Ragsdell of Paragould; his mother-in-law, Ruby Clark of the home; one granddaughter; three great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, John Lang; his mother, Opal Lang Hampton; three half brothers, Donald Brown, Harold Lang and Aubrey Lang; and by one sister, Margie Church. Ada Irene Hearn, 92, of Paragould died Sunday, February 5, 2006 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She was a Missionary Baptist. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Ross Hearn Sr. her parents, Allie Lee and Ada Irene Brand Smith; one daughter, Wilma Lehman; and a twin brother, Allie Lee Smith Jr. Ada is survived by her daughters, Edith Eans of Griffithville and Dorothy A. Williams of Paragould; sons, Lawrence Hearn Jr. of Heber Springs, Henry Hearn of Etowah, Tenn., Richard Hearn of Griffithville and Robert Hearn of Jerseyville, Ill.; one brother, Everett Smith of Pine Bluff; 17 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Donald Lafayette Fruchey
Donald Lafayette Fruchey departed this world Sunday, February 5, 2006, in Little Rock, at the age of 82. He was born July 19, 1923, in Paragould, to Bertrus and Sarah Jane Pillow Fruchey. He was a former employee of Ely & Walker Shirt Factory and a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Roger Jack and Kotoe Fruchey of Osaka, Japan; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Carey Fortenberry of Little Rock; one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Ann Fruchey of Ziegler, Illinois; thirteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. Mr. Fruchey was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Rodney Fruchey; two sisters, Estelle Wiggins King, Della Wiggins Carmen; and by four brothers, Wilbur Stanley Fruchey, and Hobart, G. H. and Lester Wiggins. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, February 8th, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould, with James A. Brown officiating. William M. Davis
William M. "Nook" Davis, 91, of Leachville died Sunday, February 5, 2006 at his residence. Born December 20, 1914 in Monette, he lived his lifetime in Leachville. He was a retired farmer and of the Baptist belief. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. Survivors include one daughter, Rose (Dorothy) Bisgrove of Norfolk, Va.; one sister, Pauline Leiss of Flint, Mich.; one brother, Willis Davis of Monette; two grandchildren, Steve Wilkinson of Virginia Beach, Va., and Rhonda Stapel of Lyndeboro, N.H.; five great-grandchildren, Tim Thode, Stevie Troxler, Samantha Williams, Lilyan and Alex Wilkinson; two great-great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Jared Troxler; numerous nieces and nephews; and two stepsons, H.B. and Gene Neil, and their children and grandchildren, all of whom he loved so dearly. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Davis; daughter, Dianna Lynn Davis; parents, Jack and Rachel Davis; and three brothers, Marion, Ovil Buck, and Johnny Davis. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, in the chapel of Gregg Funeral Home in Monette with the Rev. William Piercy officiating. Tony Lee Bell, 46, of Pineville, formerly of Corning, died at his home Monday, February 6, 2006. He was born on April 19, 1959, in Corning, the son of A.C. and Nona Inez Bell. Tony was of the Pentecostal faith. He was preceded in death by his father, A.C. Bell, and one brother, Doyle Steven Bell. Survivors include his wife, Rhonda Bell; one daughter and son-in-law, Erica and Daniel Terrell; two grandchildren, Sarah and Brayden of Mountain Home; mother, Nona Inez Bell of Ozark Acres; two brothers, Aldon Bell of Batesville and Melvin Bell of Ozark Acres; four nephews; three nieces; and a host of relatives and friends. Joe Calvin Faulkner
Joe Calvin Faulkner was born May 24, 1926, to Lawrence and Taddie Faulkner of Powhatan. He departed this life, Tuesday, February 7, 2006. He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Faulkner; one daughter, Kathy Faulkner; one son and daughter-in-law, Phillip Alan and Lana Faulkner; three grandsons, PJ, Zachary and Seth Faulkner, all of Paragould; two sisters, Carolyn Bilbrey and husband Edward of Smithville, and Glenda Bierk and husband Steven of Perryville, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Faulkner of Walnut Ridge and Sally Faulkner of Paragould; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Joey M. Faulkner; two brothers, Lawrence Faulkner Jr. of Walnut Ridge, and Clyde Faulkner of Paragould; and one infant sister, Vivian Faulkner. He was a member of Center Hill Church of Christ, where he had the privilege of serving as a deacon. He was a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, and he also served on the advisory board at Black River Technical College. He was chairman of the board of trustees for the Powhatan Cemetery for 22 years. He was employed by Emerson Electric in Paragould, where he managed the Tool and Die Shop, and retired in 1989 as a manufacturing engineer. Active pallbearers are Tony Cable, Steve Parker, Brent Renfrow, Kevin Rowe, Dan Stokes and Darrell Webb. Honorary pallbearers are the elders and deacons of the Center Hill Church of Christ. Sylvia Taylor
Sylvia Taylor, of Paragould, died Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at the home of her grandson, Rick Milburn, in Tupelo, Mississippi. She was a very precious lady to all who knew her. She was a Pentecostal saint, a member of the Paragould Church of God, who loved her family and her friends. We will miss her dearly. She was born February 8, 1922. Yes, just like a lady she knew when to go and she went on her birthday. She was 84 years old. She is survived by her daughter, Fay Pounds and husband, Roy, of New Site, Mississippi; a son, Artie Houston of Paragould. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Debby Pounds and husband, Bobby of New Site, Mississippi, Rick Milburn and his friend, Terry Belk of Tupelo, Sherry Pounds, her family and Mike of Fulton, Mississippi, Mickey Pounds, wife, Amy and their family of New Site, Mississippi, Don Pounds, Myra and family of Brooklyn, Michigan, Brian Pounds of Dallas, Texas, and Jason Houston, Rachel and family of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Survivors also include one sister, Dorothy McCarty of Paragould; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, H.P. Taylor; a brother, Paul Halcomb; and by one sister, Maudie Maynard. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home. Alta Emaline Pickens, 97, of Paragould died Thursday, February 9, 2006 at Arkansas Methodist medical Center. She was a homemaker and of Baptist belief. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Pickens and parents, Pat and Aslee (Stone) Brewer. Survivors include her son, Doyce Pickens and daughter, Velba Spencer of Paragould; three granddaughters; five great grandsons; one great granddaughter and nine great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 3 p.m.,Saturday at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Reverend Eddie Gene Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County memorial Gardens. Marjorie Tinker Key, 88, of Paragould died Friday, February 10, 2006 at her residence. She was born on Jan. 10, 1918, in Sevierville, Tenn., the daughter of Blain and Litha Mae McMahan Tinker. She was a homemaker and a member of the New Antioch Baptist Church and a life member of the Flat River, Mich. #156 Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Key was preceded in death by her husband, James Mitchell Key; parents, Blain and Litha Mae McMahan Tinker; and sons, Wayne and Curtis Key. Survivors include her daughter, Betty Jo Carr of Paragould, brothers, Wallace Sutton of Cohutta, Ga., and Millard Sutton of Cleveland, Tenn., sister, Mary Dell Kilgore of Cohutta, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews. Grandchildren, Lisa Lester, Linda Twig, Wanda Dennis and Kelly Smith and several great grandchildren. Visitation will begin following a special Dove Release at 4:30 p.m. Monday. Harmon Lester Glidewell Sr., 76, of Paragould died Saturday, February 11, 2006 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Born in Jonesboro, he lived most of his life in Cash. He was a retired Farmer. Survivors include five sons, Harmon Glidewell Jr. and Michael Glidewell, both of Bono, David Glidewell of Jonesboro, James Glidewell of Pooler, Ga., and Jerry Glidewell of Black Rock; one daughter, Brenda Smith of Paragould; one sister, Dollie Moore of Corning; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Mae Rucker Glidewell; one son, Terry Glidewell; his parents, William Henry and Iola Glidewell; five brothers; and two sisters. Lois Herrod, 87, of Paragould died Saturday, February 11, 2006 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist belief. Survivors include three daughters, Nelda Bromberg of Pensacola, Fla., and Opal Marlar and Mary Steele, both of Paragould; two sons, Charles Herrod of Bentonville and Jerry Herrod of Anchorage, Alaska; three sisters, Bonnie Keeling of Salem, Ressie Croom of Michigan and Joyce Phelps of Swartz Creek, Mich.; a brother, Charles Jacks of Dexter, Mo.; and 12 grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Herrod; a grandson, David Herrod; a granddaughter, Karena Morgan; parents, William and Martha Logan Jacks; and two sisters, Hazel Smith and Billie Jacks. Almaree Farmer, 84, of Jonesboro, formerly of Marmaduke, died Sunday, February 12, 2006, at Rose SkilCare Nursing Home in Jonesboro. She was born July 22, 1921, in Tipperary, the daughter of the late Alvin Holifield and Laura Allyn Holifield. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ermalee Carter. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Marmaduke. She is survived by her husband, Wade Farmer of Marmaduke; daughters, Peggy Carroll of Marmaduke and Dorothea Turner of Sedalia, Mo.; sister, Kathleen Mobley of Tulsa, Okla.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. John Winford Stanfill, 77, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2006, at UAMS in Little Rock. He was born, February 28, 1928, in Missouri. He was a retired, self-employed truck driver and of the Baptist faith. Everett is survived by his wife of 63 years, Oma Cooper of the home and nine children, Grady and Kaye Cooper, Keith and Mary Jo Cooper, Bruce and Teresa Cooper, Elaine and Stanley Clark, Vickie and Paul Hunt, Randy and Lola Cooper and Diane Cooper, all of Paragould, Cindy and Jeff Coleman of Ft. Mill, S.C., and Kevin Cooper of Dallas. He is also survived by his sisters, Agnes Blankenship of Paragould and Vivian Austin of Henrietta, Okla.; brothers, Vallie Cooper of Whitehall, Mich., and Grady Cooper of Kansas City, Mo.; 36 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Heath Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday in Morrow Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Rolland Lee Spear Rolland Lee Spear, 70, Paragould, died Tuesday, February 28, 2006 in Paragould. He was a retired truck driver for Monroe Auto Equipment. Survivors include his daughters, Alexis Spear, of Paragould, and Tammy Jones of Needham; mother, Violet Ure of Searcy; brother Donald Spear of Judsonia; half brothers, Sanford Spear of Portage, Mich. Kenneth Spear, Cecil Paul Spear both of Benton Harbor, MICH., Kimberly Spear of Water Valet, MICH., Lisa Higginbotham of Southhaven, MICH.; and granddaughter, Holly Jones of Needham. He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Bryan Spear. Visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m. Saturday followed by a funeral service at Heath Colonial Chapel at 1:00 P.M. with the Reverend Todd Only officiating.
