PARAGOULD - Paul Kenneth Bowman of Paragould died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at his residence. He was 67.
He was born Nov. 13, 1935, in Cumberland, Md. He was retired from SPX Contech in Dowagiac, Mich. He served in the United States Marine Corp.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Ray; his parents, Melvin and Aleatha Riggleman Bowman; three brothers, Gerald, Edward and Raymond Bowman; and
five sisters, Edith Buset, Evelyn Hansford, Irma Devore, Dorothy Weisenmiller and Catherine Deiley.
Survivors include his wife, Evalene Bowman of the home; two sons, Eric Biggs and Paul Bowman, both of Niles, Mich.; three daughters, Cheryl Ashby of
Dowagiac, Mich., Kimberly Ferguson of Paragould, and Christina Jankoviak of Niles, Mich.; a son-in-law, Jeffrey Ray of Clifton, Tenn.; two brothers, Gary
and Melvin Bowman, both of Akron, Ohio; two sisters, Helen O'Toole and Pat Phillips, both of Cumberland, Md.; 23 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Feb. 6, 2003, at the Southside Church of God in Paragould with the Rev. David Shrabla officiating. Burial followed in the
Cardwell Cemetery in Cardwell, Mo.
Pallbearers were Aleasha Ashby, DeAnna Ferguson, Luke Bowman, Jeremy Ashby, Amanda Bowman, Aaron Ferguson, Isaac Bowman, Heather Ray, Ashley Ray and Zachery

PARAGOULD - Elvis Roy Davidson of Paragould died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. He was 83.
He was born Feb. 6, 1919, in Monette. He was a retired carpenter and of the Methodist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Mary Davidson; and a sister, Lorene Taylor.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Alene (Akes) Davidson of the home; a son, Darrell Davidson of Paragould; three daughters, Shelvie Morris of Hoxie, Barbara
Prince of Jonesboro, and Martha Ewing of Paragould; a brother, Boyd Davidson of Lake City; a sister, Pauline Parrish of Monette; 11 grandchildren; and 15
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Feb. 5, 2003, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with Kenny Crafton officiating. Burial followed in Greene County
Memorial Gardens.

BEECH GROVE - Dorris Sue Morrow of Beech Grove died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at her residence. She was 61.
She was born April 23, 1941, in Stanford. She was a retired social worker and former owner of Morrow's Grocery. She was a member of the Commissary Church of
Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Maudie Doughty Shaffer; and a brother, J.M. Shaffer.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Morrow of the home; two sons, Keith Morrow of Beech Grove and Mark Morrow of Jonesboro; a brother, Jones Shaffer of
Hardy; a sister, Connie Gill of Beech Grove; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Feb. 4, 2003, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with Phil Wilkerson, L.R. Smith and Darrell Austin officiating. Burial

Imogean Peoples, 79, of Paragould died Wednesday, Feb. 5, at
the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
Born in Lake City, she was the former owner of Peoples Frosty Drive-In in
Bakersfield, Calif.,she was a member of the Peace Tabernacle in Paragould
and a former member of First Church of the Nazarene in Bakersfield.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald "Shorty" Gramling and Donny Gramling,
both of Paragould; a daughter, Etta Hilfinger of Bolivar, Ohio; a brother,
Eual White of Wichita, Kan.; nine grandchildren; and eight
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Peoples; parents, George
and Etta Mae White; and two sisters.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Greenlawn Cemetery in
Bakersfield, with Ted Underwood officiating.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in

SCHUGTOWN -- H. Kenneth Bean, 79, of Schugtown died
Thursday, Feb. 6, at Paragould Nursing Center.
Born in Piggott, he was a retired lieutenant and assistant troop commander
for both Troop B and Troop C of the Arkansas State Police, a World War II
Navy veteran, a Mason and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. He also
was a member of the Shriners and Mulberry Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Nell Schug Bean of the home; one daughter,
Mary Ellen Pepper of Little Rock; four brothers, Paul Bean and L.F. Bean,
both of Jonesboro, and Clarence Bean and Harold Bean, both of Texas; and two
granddaughters, Jennifer Wood of Conway and Jessica Coffman of Oklahoma; and
two great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edith and Elmer Bean.

Born in Paragould, she was a retired certified nurses' assistant and worked

Regional Medical Center of NEA.
Born in Clay County, he retired from General Dynamics in Fort Worth, Texas,
and moved to Paragould in 1985. He served in the Air Force during the Korean
War and was a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey Alan Brown of Salt Lake City, and
Michael Jerome Brown of Ogden, Utah; one brother, Gerald Brown of Paragould;
three sisters, Mildred Brown and Reba Henson, both of Piggott, and Madeline

SEMINOLE, Fla.--Funeral services for Marie Noblin, 92, of Seminole, formerly
of Paragould, who died Thursday, Feb. 13, at Health Care of Largo, Fla.,
will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Heath Colonial Funeral Home chapel of
Paragould, with Paul McFadden officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion
Cemetery at Walcott.
Pallbearers will be Charles Light, Theodore Andrews, Ray Dachs, Bob Carter,
Joe Kulpa and Rick Noblin.
Born in Greene County, she was a homemaker and a member of Seventh and
Mueller Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Joe Noblin of Atlanta and Jim Noblin of Sadler,
Texas; three daughters, Milly Myers and Ramona Austin, both of Largo, and
Paula Bradford of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and five
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd V. Noblin; her parents,
Charles and Gertrude Seagroves Livesay; five brothers; and one grandson.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

PARAGOULD -- Horace Moyal Taylor, 73, of Paragould died Friday, Feb. 14, at
Greene Acres Nursing Home. Born in Jonesboro, he was retired from the Del
Mar, Calif., Thoroughbred Club.

PARAGOULD -- John Albert Pierceall, 91, of Paragould died Saturday, Feb. 15,
at Paragould Nursing Center.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
The Rev. Jack Harris and Rex Bouldin will officiate, and burial with
military honors provided by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No.
4556 will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould is
in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will include Wayne Abell, James Winning, Ronnie Lewis, Rick
Lane, R.C. Van Husen and Cliff Pierceall.
Born in Fancy Farm, Ky., he was a World War II Army veteran, having served
in Alaska, Australia and the South Pacific. He had been a farmer in Greene
and Craighead counties since 1948 and raised registered black Angus cattle.
He was a member of American Legion Post No. 0017 and St. Mary's Catholic
Church.
Survivors include a brother, Bernard E. "Gene" Pierceall of Morton, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. The rosary
service will begin at 7 p.m.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Cemetery Fund or to a charity of the
donor's choice.
Laura May Eaton
RECTOR -- Laura May Eaton, 83, of Rector died Saturday, Feb. 15, at Arkansas
Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.
Born at Rector, she was a homemaker, a member of Mary's Chapel General
Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, and a member of the
Glaub-Lone Holly Extension Homemakers Club.
Survivors include her husband, Manuel Eaton of the home; two sons, John Earl
Eaton of Greenbrier and Kenneth Eaton of Leachville; three daughters, Peggy
Settlemoir of Sherwood, Carolyn Rippy of Rector and Sharon Gatewood of
Bahrain; three brothers, Charlie Berry of Bakersfield, Calif., Ebert Berry
of Flint, Mich., and Finis Berry of Jonesboro; three sisters, Lucy Ray of
Campbell, Mo., Frances Beckley of Rector and Robilee Whitlock of Eugene,
Ore.; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rector First General Baptist
Church, with Kenny Burns and Mark Book officiating. Burial will follow in
Woodland Heights Cemetery at Rector. Irby Funeral Service of Rector is in
charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Keith Settlemoir, Barry Settlemoir, Scott Eaton, Travis
Eaton, Rob Johnson and Jeremy Johnson.

John W. Eaton
PARAGOULD -- John W. Eaton, 77, of Paragould died Sunday, Feb. 16, at
Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
Born in Texas, he was a graduate of Paragould High School, served in the
Army during World War II and was stationed in France, and was retired from
Williams Shade and Awning Co. in Memphis, where he worked as a salesman. He
was a member of Brown's Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Eaton of Paragould; two sons, John Wayne
Eaton of Keno, Ore., and Paul W. Eaton of Paragould; a daughter, Dottie
Heaton of Southaven, Miss.; two granddaughters, Angela Naylor and Amy
Heaton; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty L. Eaton, and his parents,
John W. Sr. and Dean May Eaton.
The body was cremated under the direction of Heath Funeral Home.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Brown's Chapel Baptist
Church. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Bono.
Carolyn Louise Carmack
PARAGOULD -- Carolyn Louise Carmack, 71, of Paragould died Tuesday, Feb. 18,
at her residence.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Heath Funeral Home Colonial
Chapel, with the Revs. Jim Thresher and David Moseley officiating. Burial
will follow in Linwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Josh Copeland, Bob Hodge, Jason Hunn, Wade Taylor,
Dewayne Frakes, Neal Cole and Steve Smoker.
Born in Paragould, she worked at the Ely and Walker Shirt Factory and was of
the Methodist belief.
Survivors include one son, Stanley Carmack of Paragould; two daughters, Dr.
Janet Crawford of Paragould and Jill Emmert of Walls, Miss.; and seven
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Eva Brasher McLerkin.

Herschel Lee Rogers
RECTOR -- Herschel Lee Rogers, 82, of Rector died Tuesday, Feb. 18, at his
home.
Born in Greene County, he was a farmer. A member of Cappadocia General
Baptist Church, he was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include four brothers, Donald Rogers Sr. of Rector, D.M. Morris of
Paragould and Herman Morris and Therman Morris, both of Cherokee Village;
and two sisters, Rosezetta Sheffield of Belleview, Mo., and Louise Dowd of
Moweaqua, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiliam Jackson and Cordie Jane
Thrasher Rogers, three brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services are set for today at 2 p.m. at Rector First Baptist Church,
with James Henry Dortch and Kenny Burns officiating. Burial will follow in
Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway under the direction of Irby Funeral Home of
Rector.
Pallbearers will be Donald Rogers Jr., Randy Rogers, Denver Sheffield, Bruce
Sheffield, Dan Sheffield and Terry Rogers.
Honorary pallbearers will include the Senior Men's Sunday school class of
Rector First General Baptist Church.
Steven Dale Eakins
BURLESON, Texas -- Steven Dale Eakins, 40, of Burleson, Texas, died Tuesday,
Feb. 18, at a hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.
Born in Louisville, Ky., he was a graduate of Arkansas State University and
the Dallas Police Academy. He worked with the Dallas Police Department for
one year and served as senior patrol sergeant and field training officer
with the Burleson Police Department for 13 years. He was named police
officer of the year in that community in 1995.
Survivors include his mother, Inez Eakins of Marmaduke; four brothers, Larry
Eakins of Indianapolis, Melvin Eakins of Mammoth Spring, Bruce Eakins of
Paragould and Phillip Eakins of Roswell, Ga.; and three sisters, Linda
Campbell of Marmaduke, Barbara Bonner of Granbury, Texas, and Diane Potter
of Haslet, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willard Eakins.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Heath
Funeral Home Colonial Chapel, with the Revs. Melvin York and David Poe
officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery at Lafe.
Visitation will be from noon until time of the service Saturday at the
funeral home.

PARAGOULD -- Terry Eugene Cole, 70, of Paragould died Thursday, Feb. 20, at
Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born in Rector, he was retired from the Navy and was of the Pentecostal
belief.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Cole of the home; two sons, Travis Cole
of the home and Eric Cole of San Diego; one daughter, Sherrie Cole; and two
sisters, Colleen Anderson of St. Louis and Mary Sanford of Marmaduke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lusky and Nellie Brott Cole.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Harvey's Chapel Cemetery at
Marmaduke, with the Rev. Bill Snow officiating. Heath Funeral Home of
Paragould is in charge of arrangements.

Janie Taylor
CORNING -- Janie Taylor, 84, of Corning died Thursday, Feb. 20, at Lawrence
Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge.
Born at Sulligent, Ala., she was a homemaker and of the Baptist belief.
Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Taylor of Paragould and James Taylor
and David Taylor, both of Marshfield, Wis.; three daughters, Pat Stow and
Frances Marie Wheat, both of Corning, and Betty Jean Holifield of Reyno;
three brothers, Taylor Smith of Atlanta and Kelsie Smith and Girlie Smith,
both of Alabama; two sisters, Ella Gertrude Smith and Elma Smith, both of
Alabama; 57 grandchildren; and 54 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, France Taylor; two daughters,
JoAnn DeArmon and Dixie Richmond; two sisters; and one brother.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Greene County Memorial
Gardens in Paragould, with Troy Martin officiating. Ermert Funeral Home of
Corning is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Leon Wells
PARAGOULD -- Leon Wells, 57, of Paragould died Thursday, Feb. 20, at his
home.
Born in Blytheville, he was a Army veteran and a construction worker and was
of the Pentecostal belief.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Wells of the home; a son, Richard
Starbuck of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; a daughter, Robin Wells of Charlotte, N.C.;
his mother, Margaret Wells of Paragould; two brothers, Charles Wells of
Pensacola, Fla., and Roy Wells of Blytheville; a sister, Catherine Barnes of
Paragould; and a grandson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Wells, and a brother.
Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. at the Bethel Assembly of God, with
Bill Newman officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Mitchell
Funeral Home of Paragould.

Leroy Thrasher
RECTOR -- Leroy Thrasher, 81, of Rector died Friday, Feb. 21, in the
Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. He was born in White Oak.
Survivors include one daughter, Deronda Presson of Rector; one sister, Veda
Mae Caveness of Rector; one brother, Teddy Wayne Thrasher of Detroit, Mich.;
three grandchildren, Tonia Williams of Acworth, Ga., Jennifer Cambron and
Ryan Presson, both of Paragould; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Thrasher; four brothers, Delmer
Thrasher, James Thrasher, Junior Thrasher and Denzil Thrasher; and one
sister, Lois Mae Fielder.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday in the General Baptist
Church in Rector, with Marston Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in
Woodland Heights Cemetery at Rector.

Terry, Dennis Wheeler and Bryan Thrasher.

MOUNT MORRIS, Mich. -- Lorene Mae Weaver, 96, of Mount Morris, Mich., died
Friday, Feb. 21, at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Mich.
Born in Marmaduke, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of
Marmaduke.
Survivors include one son, Harold Weaver of St. Louis; one daughter, Mary
Martin of Mount Morris; six grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

PARAGOULD -- Lisa Dianne Cochran, infant daughter of Delbert and Lisa
Cochran of Paragould, died Saturday, Feb. 22, at her residence.
Survivors in addition to her parents include her paternal grandfather, Billy
Cochran of Hot Springs; her paternal grandmother and step grandfather,
Deliata and John Bookout of Alton, Mo.; and her maternal grandmother, Lissie
Rice of Paragould.

Willard M. Cobb
Willard M. Cobb, 92, of Jonesboro died Sunday, Feb. 23, at Rose Skill Care
Nursing Center.
Born in Marmaduke, she had lived in Jonesboro since 1925. She had been a
bookkeeper and a teacher. She was a member of the Arkansas Study Group,
Daughters of the American Revolution, the Highland Drive Christian Ladies
Circle and a member of the Disciples of Christ Church.
Survivors include one son, Jim Carr of Rolla, Mo.; one sister, Robelen
Thorne of Kennett, Mo.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Carr Cobb; and two brothers.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Highland Drive Christian
Church, with Vance Moore officiating. Burial will follow in City Cemetery
under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

PARAGOULD -- James Gladish, 69, of Paragould, died Monday, Feb. 24, at
Regional Medical Center of NEA.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Greene County
Memorial Gardens.

of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Kermmit Burns, Paul Smith, Johnathan Mullins, Gary

Born in Paragould, he was a Marine Corps veteran who served in the Korean
War. He was retired from Monroe Auto Equipment.
Survivors include his wife, Lula Mae Gladish of Paragould; two sons, Randy
A. Gladish and Shawn O. Gladish, both of Paragould; one stepson, Michael
Smith of Paragould; one stepdaughter, Marcella Archibald of Paragould; and
three grandchildren, Tyler Smith of Paragould and Tiffany Bridges and
Stephan Bridges, both of Lonoke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Audrey P. Beaver Gladish,
and one brother.

PARAGOULD -- Lali Marion Boggs, 83, of Paragould died Tuesday, Feb. 25, at
Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
Born in Brookland, she was a member of The Church at Paragould. She worked
as a supervisor at Ed White Jr. Shoe Co. for 23 years before working as the
manager of the Ely Walker Outlet Store.
Survivors include her husband, Ray Boggs of the home; one son, R.C. Boggs of
Paragould; two grandchildren, Melissa Miller of Paragould and Anthony Boggs
of Roswell, Ga.; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Edith Price, and two
sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Mitchell
Funeral Home in Paragould, with Bill Bass officiating. Burial will follow in
Linwood Cemetery.

David Hayes Hurd
SEARCY -- David Hayes Hurd, 50, of Searcy died Wednesday, Feb. 26.
He was born in Paragould and held a bachelor's degree in political science
and electronics certification from Cleveland Institute of Technology. He was
the director of video services for Harding University in Searcy, was an
alumnus of Harding and was a member of the College Church of Christ in
Searcy.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Rhodes Hurd of Searcy; two daughters,
Amy Lynn Hurd of Houston, Texas, and Sally Ann Hurd of Searcy; his parents,
Maurice and Eula Sanders Hurd of Paragould; two sisters, Elizabeth Mills of
Manhattan, Kan., and Cara West of Walnut Ridge; and one brother, Tim Hurd of
Paragould.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the College Church of
Christ. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. Sunday in Linwood Cemetery at
Paragould.

William Albert McMinn
PARAGOULD -- William Albert McMinn, 58, of Paragould died Wednesday, Feb.
26, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.
Saturday in the chapel of Howard Funeral Service in Manila.
The Rev. William Piercy will officiate, and burial will follow in Manila
Cemetery.
Born in Memphis, he was a retired insurance salesman and a former Manila
resident. He was of the Baptist belief.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva McMinn of the home; a son, William Keith
McMinn of Paragould; two brothers, Fred McMinn of Olive Branch, Miss., and
Avery Cudd of House Springs, Mo.; two sisters, Sherry Bumann of House
Springs and Susie Dickerson of Illinois; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Eddie Ray Short
Eddie Ray Short, 74, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Regional
Medical Center of NEA.
He was born and reared in Walcott and attended Arkansas State University. He
served in the Navy for 20 years, retiring in 1973 as a chief petty officer.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1991, the Fleet Reserve and
Woodmen of the World.
He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jennell Short of the home; two stepsons, Ronald
Diggs of San Antonio and Mark Diggs of Little Rock; one brother, W.J. Short
of Little Rock; one sister, Mary Adams of Walcott; and two stepgrandchildren,
Doug Diggs of Little Rock and Hal Diggs of Fort Worth, Texas.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Linwood Cemetery at
Paragould, with the Revs. Chuck Coffelt and Bonnie Sutton officiating.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral
Home.

Vertie Marie Jetton
PARAGOULD -- Vertie Marie Jetton, 90, of Paragould died Friday, Feb. 28, at
Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould.
Born in Greene County, she was a homemaker and a member of Second and Walnut
Church of Christ.
Survivors include three daughters, Gretta Pillow, Linda McClure and Betty
Jetton, all of Paragould; four brothers, Laverne Barr of Flint, Mich.,
Maurice Barr and Hershel Barr, both of Paragould, and Harrison Barr of
Memphis; two sisters, Azalee Turner of St. Louis and Argentine Malone of
Jefferson City, Mo.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Jetton.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Mitchell Funeral Home of
Paragould, with James A. Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Greene
County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
