Wilburn E. Burgess
 


Wilburn E. Burgess, 79, of Monette, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at his home after a brave battle with cancer.

Mr. Burgess was born July 25, 1933, at Leachville to the late C.C. and Maude Burgess. Mr. Burgess was a member of Community Fellowship Church in Paragould and owner of Burgess TV Service in Monette for 30 years. He was an Army veteran and loved fishing as often as he could. His second passion was writing songs and poems, which was a God-given talent.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Barbara Burgess of the home; one son, Michael Burgess of Paragould; two grandchildren, Nicholas Burgess of Paragould and Heather Burgess of Caraway; the mother of his grandchildren, Charlene Mangrum; three great-grandchildren, Noah and Kaydence Carpenter of Caraway and Carter Burgess of Trumann; one sister, Bernadine Herron of Blytheville; and a host of other family and friends.

Mr. Burgess was preceded in death by his parent; one brother, Glen Burgess; and one sister, Eugenia Ward.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 4th, 11:00 a.m. at Community Fellowship Church in Paragould with Danny and Nelson Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Linwood Cemetery under the direction of Faith Funeral Service.

Pallbearers will be Brent Hawkins, Nevin Hawkins, Nicholas Burgess, Adam Carpenter, Chris Blankenship and Brad Blankenship.

The family will receive visitors Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.

Franklin T. Stanfill

 

Franklin T. “Frank” Stanfill, 53, of Paragould, died Saturday, December 1, 2012, at his residence.

Born March 23, 1959, in Cardwell, Missouri, he was a computer circuit board maker. Frank loved to shoot pool, and liked to go rafting. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his mother, Vonda Stanfill of Paragould; two sons, Casey Jones of Mt. Home, Shawn Stanfill of Paragould; two brothers, Larry Stanfill of Edinburg, Texas, and Winston (Beckey) Stanfill of Paragould. He is also survived by three sisters, Mary Alice (Bob) Patterson of Jonesboro, Bertha Glover and Sharon (Richard) Horne of Paragould; five grandchildren; and his companion, Beverly Wells of Paragould.

He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Stanfill; one brother, Curtis Stanfill; and one sister, Joan Stanfill.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 5th, 10:00 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, with Terry Songer officiating. Burial will follow in Lulu Cemetery.

Danny Gill, Larry Potter, Ron Preston, Bud Ridge, Wayne Dillion, and Les Barrett will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials to Hospice would be appreciated.

William Eugene Roberts
 

William Eugene Roberts, 84, of Paragould passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

He was born December 31, 1927, at Beech Grove, to the late O.H. and Willie Roberts. An Army veteran, Mr. Roberts was retired from Emerson Electric and a member at Unity Baptist Church. He worshiped his family and loved to be outdoors.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Flavious Roberts and M.C. Roberts; and one great-grandson, Drew Penny.

Survivors include his spouse, Mary Lou Roberts; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Misty Roberts and Mark and Sheila Roberts; two daughters and sons-in-law, Louetta and Steve Penny and Phyllis and Darron House; two brothers, Kenneth and Dallas Roberts; two sisters, Ovean Finley and Mary Cochran; seven grandchildren, Nic and Doug Penny, Derek and Danual House, and Justin, Chelsey and Kyla Roberts; and four great-grandchildren, Ross, Kalyn, Aver and Will Penny.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Phillips Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 5th, 10:00 a.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of the funeral home with Kevin Murray and Tracy Archibald officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

The grandchildren will serve as pallbearers and the great-grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers.

The family requests memorials be made to the Unity Baptist Church Building Fund; Sharum Cemetery or online at Gene Roberts

Barry Keith Lorren
 


Barry Keith Lorren, 54 was born September 22, 1958 in Paragould, AR., to E.J. and Rosetta Lorren. He was a farmer and a member of Alexander Baptist Church. Barry also enjoyed fishing. He passed away December 2, 2012.

Survivors include his parents; five sons, Kristopher M., Brandon, Josh, Bryan and Nick Lorren; one daughter Mindy and son-in-law Jim Humphrey; grandchildren, Jacob, Bethany, Brooklyn Jaymin Humphrey, Guage, Isabella, Tyler, Max, Libby, Allie, Blaze, and Sierra and Kendal Lorren.

Memorial services will be held December 5th, 3:00 p.m. at the Alexander Baptist Church with Frank Shrable officiating. Burial will be at Reddick Cemetery.

John Newton Bailey
 


John Newton Bailey, 89, of Paragould, died Monday, December 3, 2012.

Mr. Bailey was born June 12, 1923, in Dixie, Arkansas to Walter and Beatrice Bailey. He was an Army veteran and retired from Charden Rubber Factory, Ann Arbor, Michigan.

He is survived by two sons, J. W. Bailey of Millington, Michigan, Rick Bailey of Paragould; one daughter, Patricia Bailey of Gainesville; and several grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Bailey will be Thursday morning, December 6th, 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.
Graveside funeral services will be Thursday 11:00 a.m. following the visitation at Linwood Cemetery with Dennis Scudder officiating.

Drew Garrett Scott

 


Drew Garrett Scott, of Marmaduke, died Monday, December 3, 2012. Drew was born to Rodney and Shera Scott March 24, 1996 in Paragould.

Drew was preceded in death by his grandfather Eddie Smith.

Drew is survived by his father and step-mother Rodney and Angie Scott of Marmaduke, and his mother Shera Scott of Paragould; five siblings Hyden Cooper of Paragould, Jillian and her husband Allen Lenderman of Brookland, Tyler Scott and Ali Perrin of Marmaduke and Jolee Scott of Paragould, grandparents Mary Scott of Paragould, Charles and Erma Scott of Jonesboro, Serena and Rick Fulkerson of Paragould, and step-grandparents Ray Phillips of Marmaduke and Tommy and Patsy Harvey of Swifton.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 6th, 2:00 p.m. at the Heath Colonial Chapel; burial will follow in the New Liberty Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening, December 5th, 6:00 until 9:00 at the funeral home

Steven Dewayne Green
 


Steven Dewayne Green, age 39, of Manila, died Monday December 3, 2012 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. Born May 25, 1973 at Kennett, Missouri, he was a lifelong Manila resident and was retired from John Rose Farms in Roseland.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, James Chester Hitchcock, and Oliver and Mozella Green. Steven was also preceded in death by his sister, Shelly Green.

Survivors include, two sons, Dallas Green and Austin Green both of the home, three daughters, Serenity Parks of Leachville, Brittney Green and Courtney Green, both of Manila, parents, J.C. "Jack" and Wanda Hitchcock Green of Manila, grandmother, Lorene Galloway of Manila, two brothers, Terry and Patrick Green of Manila, one grandson, Brentley Lynn Orris, and two nephews, Dexter Green and Zachery Green.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 6th, 2:00 p.m. at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Gary Galloway officiating. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors Thursday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.
 

Serving as pallbearers will be Enos Rece, Jeff Rece, Greg Rece, Eddie Joe Wells, Tim Augustine and Mike Hembrey. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrin Humble, Dewayne Southern and Austin Moore.

Ruby Hill


 

Ruby Gurtrue Hill, 98, of Paragould, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

She was born in Greene County, July 3, 1914, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Hill loved kids, cooking, gardening, crocheting and sewing. She was a member of 3rd Avenue Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Lavon and Anna Joyce Hill of Paragould; one sister, Vonda Stanfill of Paragould; and one granddaughter, Darlene Qualls of Jonesboro. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband, Joel Hill; two sons, Jimmy Wayne Hill and James Edward Hill; two grandchildren, James Earcel Hill, and Rebecca Joy Hill King; and by several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 8th, 1:30 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould with Bob Lee and Leon Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in New Friendship Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday, 12:00 noon until service time at Mitchell Funeral Home.

Wesley Pillow, John Miles, Josh Robinson, Jason Gramling, J.C. Pillow and Eric Hagood will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Pat Blackburn, Hulen Shatley, Charles Evans and John Powers.

Emma Elizabeth Wilson
April 16, 1919 - December 4, 2012

 

Emma Elizabeth Wilson, 93, of Paragould passed away Tuesday at her residence.

Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker and loved life. She was a member of Center Hill Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Sonney of Houston, Texas, Beverly Sonney and beloved son-in-law, Melvin Sonney, both of Paragould; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel Lee Wilson; two sons, Stanley Wilson and Randall Wilson; one daughter, Peggy Burleigh; one granddaughter; one grandson; three brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 6th, at 12:00 noon at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould, with Gary Cremeens and Michael Cox officiating.
Burial will follow in Woodland Heights Cemetery, Rector, AR. Visitation will be held Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Mitchell Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be, Ed Jernigan, Sean Jernigan, Chuck Palmer, Terry Sanders, Danie Summitt and Phil Wilson.

Memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Paragould Children’s Home would be appreciated.

Isla Stevens
 


Isla Stevens, infant daughter of Courtney Stevens, was born and went to her heavenly home December 4, 2012.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandfathers, Thomas Keeling and Virgil Stevens.

Her survivors include her mother; maternal grandparents, Kevin and Debra Stevens; great grandmothers, Lillian Keeling and Oma Stevens; one uncle, Andrew Stevens and numerous cousins.

Graveside services will be Friday, December 7th, 2:00 p.m. at Greene County Memorial Gardens with Rick Etheridge officiating. Services are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home.

Sandra Salewski
 


Sandra Salewski, 66 of Marmaduke passed from this life Tuesday December 4, 2012 at her residence. She was born on March 30, 1946 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late James and Dorothy (Rittenhouse) Workman.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, and husband: Ralph Salewski

Ms. Salewski is survived by two sons: James Salewski of Gordonsville, Tennessee, John Salewski of Ronks, Pennsylvania; two daughters: Dodi Bright: of Marmaduke, Ingrid Upchurch of Lafe; one brother: James Workman of Clearwater, Florida; nine grandchildren, five great- grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Archie Crawford Mashburn
 


Archie Crawford Mashburn, age 73 of Paragould, Arkansas, died December 4, 2012 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, Arkansas. Born January 1, 1939 at Damascus, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Arch and Delora Bennett Mashburn. Mr. Mashburn was a retired truck driver and enjoyed classic cars.

He is survived by his wife: Rebecca Lowe Mashburn of the home; one step-son: Steven Lewis of Paragould, Arkansas; three daughters: Kathy Wilson, Carolyn Collins and Crystal Warren all of Paragould, Arkansas; one brother: Ottis Mashburn of Paragould, Arkansas; his step-father: Edward Meyers of Cardwell, Missouri. Mr. Mashburn also leaves several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

The family has requested private services and disposition with Faith Funeral Service of Manila, Arkansas in charge of arrangements.

Virginia Evelyn Sheppard
 


Virginia Evelyn Sheppard, 78, of Light died Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at her residence.

Born May 10, 1934, at Marked Tree, she was a homemaker and a member of the Walnut Corner Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, James Sheppard of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sandra Sheppard of Light; a sister and brother-in-law, Opal and Glenn Johnson of Millington, Tenn.; and a granddaughter, Courtney Sheppard of Light.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Hattie Moskop; and two brothers, J.B. Moskop and Charles Moskop.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 10th, 1:30 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel of Paragould with Bobby Wade officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until service time Monday.

Joyce Ann Casteel
 


Ms. Joyce Ann Casteel, of Paragould, AR., passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012 at home. Ms. Casteel was born August 25, 1945 in Saint Louis, MO. She was a homemaker; she loved to bake all kinds of goodies. Joyce was president of the Paragould Mini Rise Site Council. She was a fifty-five year member and loved worshipping at the 7th and Mueller Church of Christ in Paragould.

She is survived by her mother Edna Glendora (Allgood) Casteel of Paragould, AR.; one brother Tony Casteel of Flower Mound, TX.; two sisters Bronda Hagood of Cookeville, TN., and Peggy Brittingham of Cookeville, TN.; one aunt Juanita Hollis; five nieces and nephews; eight great-nieces and nephews; several cousins; a large church family and numerous dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Leo Ervil Casteel.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 8th, 2:00 p.m. at the 7th and Mueller Church of Christ in Paragould, with Larry McFadden and Michael Cox officiating. Burial will follow the services at Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould.
Visitation will be held Saturday, from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services at the church.

Mary Emma Tate
 


Mary Emma Tate, 77, of Paragould died Friday, December 7, 2012, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center at Jonesboro.

She was born September 23, 1935, at Paragould to the late Henry and Verva Cordell Fesler.
Mrs. Tate was retired from the Paragould School District’s School of The 21st Century and most recently worked part-time at the Greene County Library. She was an avid reader and loved working in her flower garden. In her younger years, she also enjoyed water skiing.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Jake Fesler; and her first husband, “Bud” Parsons.

Survivors include her husband, Felix Tate of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Lynn Ratiff of Paragould and Elizabeth and Bill Jackson of Mountain Home; one sister and brother-in-law, Glenna and Glenn Lee; and one brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Bonnie Fesler, all of Paragould; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests Monday, December 10th, 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow Monday at 11:30 a.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home with Dr. Winfred Bridges officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Judy Ross (Mills) Wilkins
 


Judy R. Mills Wilkins, 69 of Paragould, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the Phil and Flo Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
She was born May 24, 1943 to the late Kenneth “Pete” S. Miles and Nellie Barrett.
Judy was a great cook and loved to share with her friends and neighbors. She was of the Baptist faith.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Stan Wilkins; brother, Ken Miles; grandparents, Fred and Tommie Huckabee; granddad, Dean Miles.

Survivors include her son, Dan Schmidt; grandson, Forrest D. Schmidt; aunt and uncle, Gene and Freddie Widmer and special cousin, Jennifer Humphrey.

Memorial Services will be scheduled for a later date.

May 21, 1931 - December 8, 2012
 


Osie Marie Wilson, 81 of Paragould died Saturday at Belle Meade Nursing Center. Osie was Co-Owner of Osie’s Drive In and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Wilson; parents Burl and Lorene Johnson; daughters, Kathy Wilson Smith and Louise Ross; brothers, Junior Johnson, Henry Johnson and Bobby Johnson.

Survivors include brother, Darrell (Debbie) Johnson of Batesville, AR and sister, Shirley (Jasper) Wright of Paragould; son-in-law, Michael Smith of Paragould; an aunt, an uncle, several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 12th, 10:00 a.m. at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Rev. Bud Evans officiating.

Farrah Mae Washam
 


Farrah Mae Washam, age 74, of Paragould, Arkansas, departed this life Saturday, December 8, 2012, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer.

Farrah Mae was born December 14, 1937 in Marmaduke, Arkansas. She graduated from Marmaduke High School. She retired after many years with Fred's Dollar Store in Paragould. In her spare time, Farrah Mae loved traveling and spending time with her friends and family. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church.


She was the beloved wife of David Washam of Paragould. Also surviving are her brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Bonnie Wright of Paragould; her sister, Faye Tomlinson of Paragould; three sisters-in-law, Sue Wright of Grapevine, Texas, Bessie Gilliam of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Jessie Pillow of Paragould; one brother-in-law, Jerry Don Washam of Culver City, California; five nephews, three nieces, and several cousins.

Farrah Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Arizona Wright; one brother, Eldon Wright; two sisters, Emma Lee Lewis and Katherine Resinger.

Visitation will be Monday evening, December 10th, 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be Tuesday, December 11th, 1:00 p.m. at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Don Slayton and Rudy Dillard officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be John Allison, Aaron Coleman, Gene Eaker, Leon Gore, Ed Maddox and Scott Wright.
Honorary pallbearers include Carl Fischer and Melvin Sonney.

David Eugene Sparks

 

David Eugene Sparks, also known as Gene or Sparky, 68, Paragould, died December 9, 2012 at St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro. David was born July 22, 1944 in Malden, Missouri, the son of the late Elmer and Ida Sparks.
He graduated from Arbyrd High School in 1963.

He is survived by his children: Gayla Cox of Bellevue, NE., and Mark Sparks of Paragould; grandchildren: Kristiana and Brianne Cox and Cody Sparks, brother: Jack Sparks of Cardwell, MO., sisters, Willie Spaeth of Little Rock and Jewell Campbell of N.C.

David served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Marines. He is retired from Southwestern Bell and was a member of the McDonalds round table where his wisdom and knowledge will be greatly missed.

There will be no services. Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association.

Raymond A. Broadaway Jr.
 


Raymond A. Broadaway Jr., 77, of Bono, AR., departed this life Sunday, December 9, 2012, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

He was born at Bono September 30, 1935, the son of Raymond A. and Neva Mae Gibson Broadaway. He lived his entire life in the Jonesboro-Bono area. He was retired from NCR Corp. after serving 35 years as a service representative. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1956-1958.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Glenda Clifft Broadway; three children, Susan Dains (Ron) of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Donna Shannon (Robert) of Jonesboro and Glen Broadway (Paula) of Jonesboro; three sisters, Revetta Kirksey (Bill) of Gibraltar, Mich., Janice Shirley (Arvis) of Bono and Sharon Hill of Bono; three brothers, Richard Broadway (Edwina) of Little Rock, Kenny Broadway (Tammy) of Bono and Stacy Broadaway (Sharie) of Bono; eight grandchildren, Nathan Dains, Coley Dains, Kelley Dains, Christi Clayton, Brook Covington, Brandon Broadway, Brandy Aycock and Brittney Broadway; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, December 12th, 2:00 p.m. in the Crossroads Cemetery at the intersection of Greene County roads 309 and 333 near Bono.

Active pallbearers will be Nathan Dains, Coley Dains, Brandon Broadway, Scott Aycock, Jared Clayton and Schuyler Broadaway.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Clifft, Bill Kirksey, Arvis Shirley, Carroll Hundley and all of Raymond and Glenda’s nieces and nephews.

Charles Camp Ragsdell
 


Charles Camp Ragsdell, age 80, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away in Heber Springs, Sunday, December 9, 2012. Born January 20, 1932, in Stanford, Arkansas, he was the son of Sherman and Hazel Ragsdell.

Mr. Ragsdell was a retired farmer and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a former State Adjutant for Veterans Affairs under Gov. Clinton and served the American Legion in several capacities, including National Vice-Commander. Mr. Ragsdell's religious belief was Methodist.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; his mother and father; one sister, Mabel Lois Ragsdell; and two brothers, Bob Ragsdell and Russell Ragsdell.

Mr. Ragsdell is survived by two sons, James Ragsdell and his wife, Len, of Conway and Charles Camp Ragsdell, II and his wife, Lori, of Eureka Springs; one daughter, Elizabeth Craft and her husband, Kelly, of Jonesboro; one brother, Jerry Ragsdell of Chicago, Illinois; four grandchildren, Jocelyn Mathis of Philadelphia, PA, Rebecca Craft of Jonesboro, and Jessica DeLoach and Tiffany Ragsdell, both of Conway; and two great-grandsons.

Graveside services and interment with military honors by the American Legion will be held Saturday, December 15, at 1:00 p.m. at Cleburne County Memorial Gardens. A visitation will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Olmstead Chapel.

Elmer Woodrow Lowe

 

Elmer Woodrow Lowe, 86, of Paragould, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

He was born September 14, 1926, in Greene County to Adolf and Clemmie Lowe. Elmer loved chopping wood and picking cotton. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by three nephews, Kenneth (Brenda) Lowe, Jimmy (Edna) Lowe, and Raymond (Angela) Lowe; and two nieces, Sue (Carlton) Edgar and Ruth Ann Lowe, all of Paragould.

Visitation will be private.

Graveside services will be conducted Friday, December 14th, 2:00 p.m. at Linwood Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Bobby W. Pate, 79, of Brookland, died Wednesday at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. Bobby had lived in Brookland for 5 years moving from Paragould. He was of the Pentecostal belief and was in the Army serving in the Korean War. Bobby retired from Emerson Electric after working there for 33 years. He loved to fish and was a wonderful gardener.

He is preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Minnie Lee Nolan Pate; and one sister Barbara Rutherford;

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Joyce Pate of the home; 3 sons, Bobby Lee (Diane) Pate of Paragould, Tommy Ray (Jodi) Pate of Fenton, Missouri, and David Wayne (Dawn) Pate of Brookland; a daughter Patricia Carol Pate of Perryville, Missouri; a brother Donald Duvall of Newark, Ohio; 3 sisters Jean Ray of Jonesboro, Martha Holland of Dallas Texas, and Cynthia Ford of Batesville; and 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

There will be a visitation Thursday evening, December 13th, 5:00 until 7:00 at Emerson Funeral Home, all other services will be private.

Jimmy Lewis Tedder
 


Jimmy Lewis Tedder, 58, of Paragould, passed away December 15, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. He was born November 29, 1954, to A.M. “Dub” and Mattie Tedder. Jimmy enjoyed playing golf, snow skiing, being on the road traveling, and most of all spending time with his kids and special grandchildren. He was employed at Kmart for 32 years and was of the Methodist faith.

Preceding him in death were his father, A.M. “Dub” Tedder and special grandchild, Tavien Epley.

Jimmy’s survivors include his wife, Vicki Tedder; mother, Mattie Tedder; one son, Blaine Tedder; one daughter Meagan Tedder and fiancée, Chad Couch; one sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Keith Holifield; one brother-in-law, Stan Butler; one sister-in-law, Gail Thompson; special grandchildren, Alexis Murray and Taylon, Nessi, and Ty Jenkins; nephews, Josh Butler, Adam Butler, Drew Holifield, Seth Holifield, Kevin Ford, Chris , Casey, and Colby Thompson.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Tim McNatt, Dustin Moore, Marlin Miller, Carlos Eason, Johnny Ray Distretti, and Steve Childress.

Richard Loran Hendy, 57, of Paragould, died Sunday, December 16, 2012, at his home. He was born June 29, 1955 in Flint, Michigan. Richard was retired from the United States Air Force and loved to hunt.

He was preceded in death by his father Clifford D. Hendy.

Merline Julie King, 79 of Paragould died Sunday at her residence. Merline was a retired factory worker and a member of the Unity Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Vernon Riggins, second husband, John King; son, Jim Riggins; daughter Peggy Sue Riggins; brothers, Vernon, Jerry and Herman Watkins and sister, Earline Sandage.

Survivors include sons, Larry Riggins of Paragould, Donald Riggins of Niles, MI and Allen Riggins of Paragould; daughter, Sue Williams of Paragould; brothers, Jay Watkins of Paragould and Bobby Watkins of TX, sisters, Wanda King of Noel, MO, Margie Sones of Jackson, MS, Joycie Shanick of CA. and Betty Bergeon of FL, 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Joseph Harrell Tracer, 93, of Paragould, died Monday, December 17, 2012, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Mr. Tracer was born September 24, 1919, in Monette, AR. to V.M. and Rena Tracer. He was retired from Paragould City Light and Water, and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanette “Peaches” and Carl Giles of Forrest City, Sharon and Allen Powers and Debbie and Steve Adams, all of Paragould; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Tracer; two brothers, Jacob Winfred Tracer, and J.D. Tracer; one sister, Levela Walden; and one grandson-in-law, Monty Carmikle.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 21st, 1:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.

Bessie Marie Morris

 

Bessie Marie Ray Morris, 97, of Paragould, died Monday, December 17, 2012, at Greene Acres Nursing Home. She was born February 26, 1915 in Rector, Arkansas the daughter of the late Elbert and Hattie Burgess Ray.
Family members who also preceded her in death are her husband of 75 years, D.M. Buster Morris, grandson, Chad Morris, daughters-in-law, Mitzi, Wanda Lee, Shelbye and June, brother, Woodrow Barnett Ray, and sister, Pauline Dye Day.
During her lifetime she was a homemaker, pastor's wife and owner and worker in a grocery business. She loved quilting, knitting and painting, but most of all cooking and watching her family enjoy the food she prepared.
She was a member of the Grace United General Baptist.

She is survived by her four sons and their spouses: Gerald, James and Wanda, all of Piggott; Irvin and Sue of Paragould and Gary and Sue of Lafe; 17 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday evening, December 21st, 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home.
Her life will be celebrated Saturday, December 22nd, 10:00 a.m. at Grace United General Baptist Church with Reverend Gary Morris, Reverend Kevin Morris and Reverend Shane Stovall officiating.

Mrs. Smith was born September 8, 1945, in Paragould to Darrell and Lucy Morrow. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Abbott; her parents, Darrell and Lucy Morrow; and stepdaughter, Kristi Smith

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Smith of Paragould; five daughters, Lisa and Randall Glover, Julie Sessums, Dena and John Messer, Linda and Paul Frost and Leslie Carter and domestic partner, Tonya Laws, all of Paragould; and three stepchildren, Jerry Ray and Kim Smith of Grandville, Michigan; Jarrod and Toni Smith and Tammy Smith and domestic partner, Bobbie Campbell, all of Paragould.

Other survivors include ten grandchildren, Frankie Traywick, John Messer, Amanda Walker, Ashley Cooley, Chris Frost, Alix Jetton, Shea Messer, Drew Carter, Michael Carter, Braiden Sessums; four step grandchildren, Olivia, Kiley, Gage and Canaan Smith; and ten great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Ricky Morrow of Paragould; four sisters, Deloris Abbott of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Geraldine Morrow, Alice Clark and Janie Debrosse, of Paragould; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Sandra Purdom, 45, of Paragould, died Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at St. Bernard’s Hospital. Sandra was born April 1, 1967 to Robert Eugene and Mary (Duke) Smith in Lebanon, Tennessee.

Sandra was the treasurer of the NEA Volks Folks and had a great love for antique Volkswagens.

She worked at Ed White Shoe Factory and Frolic Footwear and was a member of Magnolia Road Baptist Church. She loved collecting angels, Elvis, flowers and gardening.

Paul Everett “Flash” Carroll, 84, of Paragould, died Friday, December 21, 2012 at his home. He was born August 30, 1928 in Paragould. He was retired from Razorback Concrete, farming and a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Mr. Carroll operated a produce stand on Carroll Road, he enjoyed his plough days with his mules and all his grandchildren.

Survivors include: his wife of 56 years, Patricia Carroll of the home, one son Dennis Carroll of Paragould, and his companion Karen Hannah of Cardwell, MO, two daughters and sons-in-laws, Vanessa and David Flanrey of Paragould, Lisa and James Estes of Paragould, two brothers, Richard Carroll and Pat Carroll both of Paragould, two sisters, Wilma Jean Davis of Paragould, Mildred Covill of Wild Rose, WI., five grandchildren, Darrell and Amy Austin, Noah and Mikayla Flanrey, Anna Flanrey, Niall and Jordan Estes and Sean Estes, two great grandchildren, Luke Austin and Clay Austin.

Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by, his parents, Patrick and Lola Carroll, one sister, Alice McCullar and one infant son, Keith Wayne Carroll.

JoAnn was born July 9, 1946, in Bay, Arkansas, and was of the Baptist faith. She was a CNA and had worked at Paragould Nursing Center and Greene Acres Nursing Home. She was very devoted to her work.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Stella Emerick; and her husband, Billy May.

Clara Louise Andrews

 

Clara Louise Andrews, 70 of Brookland, Arkansas died Monday, December 24, 2012 at the NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was born October 18, 1942 in Jonesboro. She was retired from Couch’s Bar-B-Q in Jonesboro and a member of Mt. Olive Pentecostal Church where she served as church secretary. Mrs. Andrews loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include: her husband, Billy L. Andrews of the home, three sons and daughter-in-law, Billy W. Andrews of Jonesboro, Ronnie L. Andrews of Mammoth Springs, Arkansas, Bobby J. and Jennifer Andrews of Brookland, one daughter and son-in- law, Tina L. and Bob Warren of Jonesboro, two sisters, Jean McBride and Evelyn Chadwick both of Bono, Arkansas, ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Wayne and Opal McGill one granddaughter, Kandi Hanley, one brother, Jessie McGill and one sister, Ruby Chaney.

A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, December 27th, 2:00 p.m. at the Pine Log Cemetery with Bro. Wayne McGill officiating. Visitation will be Thursday prior to services, 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould.

Pallbearers will include, Tyler Andrews, Jackie Smith, Shawn Price, Eric Chadwick, Nick Davis and Matt Price.

Willie Robert Walker
 


Willie Robert Walker, 68 of Paragould passed away December 24, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN. He was born October 30, 1944 at Walcott to Tom and Rachel Walker.
He retired from Emerson Electric after 35 years, loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, liked hunting, fishing and running his beagles. Mr. Walker was a member of Trinity Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Roy Walker.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes Walker; four sons and daughter-in-laws, Timmy and Jane Walker of Paragould, Kenny and Jennifer Walker of Cardwell, MO., Donald and Brenda Walls of Little Rock and Rick and Michelle Walls of Paragould; two daughters and son-in-laws, Shelia and James Reathbaum of Perryville, AR., Susan and Mike Lankford of Paragould; one brother, Jerry Walker; one sister, Ola Mosby; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 28th, 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 .pm. at Phillips Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Joe McMasters officiating. Burial will be at Pine Log Cemetery.

Douglas Franklin Gifford, age 50, of Paragould, died December 24, 2012 at his residence. He was born September 20, 1962 in Paragould to Doss Franklin and Mary Leta Friar Gifford.

Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors include a brother, Darrell Gifford of Jonesboro; step-mother, Patricia Gifford of Paragould.

Burley Monroe George, Jr., 45 of Paragould, died Wednesday at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould. Burley was an employee of Tenneco Automotive and attended Rosewood Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Burley George, Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Kym George of the home; daughters Chealsea George and Rachael George both of Paragould; mother, Barbara Warner of Paragould; sister, Tammy George of Paragould.

Visitation will be Friday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 29th, 1:00 p.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with Reverends Heath Vines and Rick Ethridge officiating.

Ellis Eugene “Bud” Whitehead, 77, of Dittmer, Missouri, formerly of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at the St. Claire Hospital in Fenton, MO. Mr. Whitehead was a retired forklift operator for Independent Pipe Company and was a member of the Lorado Baptist Church. He loved blue grass music and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Mr. Whitehead is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Keith Crowden of Cedar Hill, MO; one sister, Rose Marie Walters of Las Vegas, NV; 2 grandchildren and their spouses, Holly and Darren Andersen and Bradley and Ashley Crowden; one great granddaughter, Brianna Andersen; many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara (Miller) Whitehead, his parents, Ralph and Rosie (Blevens) Whitehead and 3 sisters, Elaine Smullin, Dorthie Roberts, and Mary Barton.

Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Roller-Farmers Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 29th, 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Kenny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Crossroads Cemetery at Lorado.

Frank Charles Stewart

 


Frank Charles Stewart, 78, longtime Watford City, ND resident died at a St. Alexius Medical Center, Wednesday, December 26, 2012.

Frank was born July 7, 1934 in Greene County, Arkansas the oldest of 6 children to Hoyt and Gillie Willcockson Stewart.

He attended country school at Walcott, Arkansas and graduated from Greene County Tech High School in 1952. In 1945 Frank made Jesus the Savior of his life at Walcott Baptist Church.
As a young boy Frank picked cotton by hand before the days of machine pickers. He also plowed the fields with horses and remembered the days before there was electricity.

After graduation Frank stayed on the farm and worked for other farmers in the area for a few years. He then went to work for General Motors Company in Flint Michigan until he was drafted into Uncle Sam’s Army in 1956. He took basic training at Fort Hood, Texas. He then spent 18 months in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1958.

He worked in St. Petersburg, Florida for a few months, and then went to work for Halliburton Company in Duncan, Oklahoma. In March 1959, Frank was then transferred to Tioga, North Dakota then later to Watford City. In 1965 he went to work for Texaco Incorporated in Charlson, ND.

On February 14, 1963 Frank was united in marriage to Esther Thomas. They lived in Watford City and transferred to Glendive, MT in 1974. In 1987 moved back to the Charlson area. Frank retired from Texaco in September 1994 and he and Esther remained in Watford City.

In their retirement years Frank and Esther enjoyed traveling, hunting and fishing-always together. The highlight of their retirement was their trip to Alaska. Esther passed away in 2011 and Frank continued to live in Watford City.

Frank is survived by brothers, Sam (Madonna) Stewart, Jack (Carolyn) Stewart, and Jim Stewart all of Walcott, AR and Bruce (Glenda) Stewart of Paragould, AR; brother-in-law, Cloyes Hyde of Paragould, AR; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Esther; and sister, Bonnie Hyde.

Friends may call at the Fulkerson Funeral Home Watford City, Monday, December 31st, 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and an hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday, January 2nd.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 2nd, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at the Cross Point Church in Watford City. Pastor Jeff Ruggles will officiate. Interment, Schafer Cemetery, Watford City, North Dakota.

Barbara Lee (Frey) Hahn, 72, of Grand Blanc, MI., died Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 31st, 11:00 a.m. at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 30th, 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Barbara was born in Paragould, Arkansas, January 12, 1940. She married John David Hahn in Paragould Arkansas on November 25, 1966. Barbara enjoyed reading her sons books, bird watching, her flowers and visiting with and bragging about her grandchildren.

Survivors include; her husband, John; sons, Steven and wife Mary Hahn of MN and Keith and girlfriend Dru Doran of Rochester; grandchildren, Erin and Luke; sisters, Carolyn and husband Ken Letsch of NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Dora Frey.

Terry Allen “T-Mac” McDonald, 54 passed away December 26, 2012 at his home. He was born October 10, 1958 in Paragould to Delmar and Betty McDonald. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and loved his motorcycle.

His father preceded him in death.

Survivors include his mother, Betty Cook; two sisters, Vicki Lamb and Wendy McDonald; three nieces and two nephews.

Hannelore Stevens, 80 of Paragould, died Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. She was born on July 18, 1932 in Mannheim-Rheinau, Germany. Mrs. Stevens was retired from the Shirt Factory and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include; two sisters, Marie Winkler of Victoria, Texas, Yanna Brown of Germany, her campion, James S. Warren of the home, James Warren’s family, his son, Jason Warren, daughter-in-law, Pam Warren, his grandchildren, Destiny Warren, Heather Warren, Haven Warren, all of Paragould and her good friends, Helga Carrier, Helga Parkinson, Patsy Jones and Heidi Warren.

She was preceded in death by, her husband, Charles Stevens and James Warren’s son, Johnny H. Warren.

Janie Weyer Hodge, 61, of Paragould, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012, at her home. She was born June 17, 1951 in Paragould the daughter of the late Frank Joseph and Pasha Allyne (Riggs) Weyer. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Herbert and Don Weyer.

She is survived by her husband: Willam Earl Hodge, of the home; daughters: Nikki Olsen and Luchana Pruitt; grandchildren: Logan, Layton, Lindsey, Lucas and one expected in March of 2013, Pasha Ann Pruitt; sister: Martha Remagen, all of Paragould.

Dorothy Imogene Mandrell

 

Dorothy Imogene Mandrell, 91 of Paragould, died Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the Phil and Flo Hospice in Jonesboro.
Dorothy was born May 30, 1921 in Greene County, Arkansas to Jerald and Lou (Breashers) Dacus.

Mrs. Mandrell is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Buford Irvin Mandrell; two infant children; one daughter Joy Stalnaker, two sisters, Mamie Harvell and Francis Stranger; two brothers Johnny and Nathiel Dacus and granddaughter SaGaye Reece.

Survivors include one daughter Carolyn and Darrell Reece of Brookland; one sister Nina Galbreath of Muskegon, Michigan, nine grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren; one son-in-law Bob Stalnaker.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 31st, 10:00 a.m. in the Heath Colonial Chapel with Dennis Scudder officiating, burial will follow in the Beech Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.

Buena Vesta Roberts, 91, of Paragould, died Friday, December 28, 2012 at Greene Acres Nursing Center, Paragould. Buena was born August 21, 1921 in Epsaba, Greene County, Arkansas, to the late John and Ruth (Cole) Roberts. She was also preceded in death by her brother Beryl Roberts, sister-in-law, Bernice Roberts, and nephew, William Wolverton. Buena was a charter member of Westview Baptist Church.

Survivors include; nephew Jerry (Pricilla) Roberts of Mt. Morris, Michigan, niece Barbara Wolverton of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, great nieces and nephews; Wayne (Brenda) Roberts, Teresa (Don) Gillett, Jeanette Roberts and fiancé, Jeffery Stoltenberg, Michael (Kimberly) Wolverton, Kendra (Mark) Elmer, Karla Wolverton; several great great nieces and nephews, several cousins, family and friends.

The family would like to thank all of those who were caregivers, family and friends who cared for Mrs. Buena and the staff at Greene Acres Nursing Home.

Loyd Howell
 


Loyd "Bud" Howell, 77, of Paragould, died Friday, December 28, 2012, at his home. He was born September 18, 1935 in Hickory, Arkansas the son of the late Reverend Burl and Fannie Dennings Howell. He was also preceded in death by his first wife of 41 years, Opal Small Howell, brothers, Doyne and Red Howell, and sister, Lucille Bearden. He retired from Darling Store Fixtures after 23 years.

He is also survived by his wife of 12 years: Bobbie Shelton Howell, of the home; children: Dewayne, Jimmy, Marilyn and Linda; step children: Kathy, Paula, Jerry, and Nancy; sister: Imogene Wells; 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday, December 31st, 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Scott Small officiating.

Clara Jean Harvey, 81 Southaven, MS., formerly of Paragould, died Friday at Allenbrooke Nursing Home in Memphis, TN.
She was a member of Southwind Church of Christ, a homemaker, loving mother, wife, sister and a devoted grandmother. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Jackson Harvey; parents, Joseph H. and Lora Mae Rowe Wamble; son, Thomas J. Harvey, Jr.; four sisters and one brother.

She is survived by her sons: Joey Dale and Marty Harvey; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; sister: Vera Phillips; brothers: Joe Wamble, Gayland Wamble and Bob Rowe.

John David Harbison

 


John David Harbison, 49 of Paragould, died Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. He was born January 21, 1963 in Paragould. John was a disabled mechanic with Precision Tune, he loved his family, being with his friends, hunting, fishing and just hanging out, and he also was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include; his mother, Bessie Clark and her companion, Max Hale of Paragould, one brother, Richard Gentle of Jonesboro, Arkansas and one sister, Vickie Gentle Moulton and her husband, Randy of Virginia Beech, Virginia.

John was preceded in death by his father, Jack Harbison.

James Edwin “Ed” Aldridge, 88, of Paragould passed away Friday, December 28, 2012, at his home.

Born in Cleburne County May 2, 1924, he was the son of Ernest and Betty Aldridge and the stepson of Lynn Carr.

Mr. Aldridge was retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. of Jonesboro and Little Rock. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Ax Aldridge; his parents; his stepfather; and three sisters, Vernelle King, Earnestine Mahon and Betty Jean Russell.

Mr. Aldridge is survived by his wife, Betty Johnson Aldridge of Paragould; one son, Jay Aldridge and his wife Theresa of Springfield, Mo.; one daughter, Sammye Byrd and her husband Warren of Annapolis, Md.; one brother, Gary Carr; four sisters, Neva Smith, Pat Engelbeger, Janie Smith and Bobbie Burnett; two grandchildren, Jason Foust of Jonesboro and Tracy Childers and her husband Daniel of Maumelle; three great-grandchildren, Dillon, Scarlett and Sydney Childers; two honorary grandchildren, Lindsey Jones and Kristin Shock, both of Conway; and other relatives and his many friends.

Daphine Hahn Watson, 91 of Paragould, died Saturday, December 29, 2012. She was born December 20, 1921 in Leachville, Arkansas.
She was a retired beautician, a retired nurse assistant and a member of the Church of Christ.

Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by; her husband, S.P. Watson, Sr., daughter, Joann Watson Jackson, son, Stanley G. Watson, her parents, E.D. and Nellie Hahn, two brothers, David Hahn, Doyle Hahn, seven sisters, Mammie Gray, Delores Christoper, Gilbertia H. Brewer, Ellen Ring, Joyce Jordan, Earnestine Bailey and Betty Johnson, a granddaughter, Diane Watson and a brother-in-law John Bailey.

Survivors include; one son and his wife, S.P. Bob Lynn Clark
 


Bob Lynn Clark, 68, passed away December 29, 2012 in San Antonio, Texas.

He was born October 7, 1944 in near Red Onion to the late Haskel and Lavada Clark. Bob was a graduate of Monette High School and Arkansas State University. He was a terminal manager for the trucking industry. He was a loving son, father and grandfather. He enjoyed watching sports and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Steve and Patti Clark of Young Harris, GA, Melissa and Mark Lehmberg of San Antonio, TX; and Lori and Rob Smith of West Point, MS; and his grandchildren, Ashley Wilbanks, James Wilbanks, Tyler Smith and Braden Smith.

A celebration of his life will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Rob Smith officiating. Burial will be at the Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at the Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.

Charles Kenneth Rose



Charles Kenneth Rose, age 78, of Paragould passed away with his family by his side Saturday, December 29th, 2012 at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock. He was a Navy Veteran and a retired officer from the U.S. Coast Guard.

He was the beloved husband of Elaine Rose for 51 years. He was a wonderful and much-loved dad for: Phil Rose (Leanna) of Woodinville, WA; Alison Rose Stankiewicz (Brian) of Little Rock, and Sherrie Kelley of Kennett, MO. He was the beloved brother of: Jim Bruce (Glenda), Jackie Eaker (James), Glenda Clark, Sue Zamora (Nick), Dennis Bruce (Cheryl), and Michael Bruce (Nancy), all from Paragould. He was the loving grandfather of: Alden Rose, Ian Rose, Lawson Stankiewicz, Owen Rose, Maylee Rose Stankiewicz, and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by; his adoring mother Florine Huggins Bruce; his paternal father Lewis Walker Rose; all of "his card-playing uncles" including the uncle who was more like a brother, Woody Huggins.

He leaves behind his aunt Mavis Bradley; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other loving relatives: Marilyn Wilson, Linda Meister, and Joann Masters of Vicksburg, MS.

A "Celebration of Life" memorial service will be held this Saturday, January 5th, 2013, 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Red Goose Catering Hall, 101 S. Pruett Street in Paragould. All family and friends are invited.

Troy Lavaughn Ray
 


Troy Lavaughn Ray, 56, Paragould, died Sunday, December 30, 2012, at his home. He was born August 19, 1956 in St. Louis, Missouri the son of the late Charles Odell and Helen Florine Anders Ray. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Patsy Coral Ray and Lorine Milholen. Mr.Ray was a member of Trinity Full Gospel.

He is survived by his brothers: M.W. Ray of Paragould, Doyle William Ray of Paris, TN; sisters: Mildred Lands of Ozark, Marie Newman of Paragould, Linda McKinney of Heber Springs; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 2nd, 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Heath Funeral Home. His life will be celebrated at the Heath Colonial Chapel, following visitation Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with Brother M.W. Ray and Brother Bill Newman officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery.

James David Costner

 

James David Costner, II, age 48, passed from this earth after a well-fought battle with cancer Monday, December 31, 2012, at his home in Paragould with his family. He was born November 13, 1964 in Flint, MI, to Jerry D. Costner (b. 1938 in Nettleton) and Norajean R. (Lamson, b. 1939 in Flint) Costner.

James enjoyed fast cars, motorcycle rides with his Pixie, and trips made with family. He was active in his support of Bikers for Babies, raising money and making the annual rides through the state. His earthly passion was personally restoring his 1934 home.

Both parents preceded him in death.
Left here to honor James and remember his strong but loving spirit are his wife, Mary (Pixie) Foster Costner and children, Kenny, Mitchell, Jesse, Shannon and Kelly; his son, James David Costner, III, his daughter, Jessica Lynn Costner; his oldest brother, Jeffery Dennis Costner of Chino Valley, AZ; his sister, Suzette Marie Moore of Denver, CO; and his brother, Gregory Douglas Costner of Allegan, MI.

His life will be celebrated with a Memorial Service Friday, January 4, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel.

Alma Pauline Morgan
 


Alma Pauline Morgan, 78, of Paragould, died Monday, December 31, 2012, at Monette Manor Nursing Home. She was born December 23, 1934 in Caraway, AR the daughter of the late Joe and Gracie Fairchild Haff. She was also preceded in death by her son, Mark Morgan, siblings, J.P. Haff, Pete Haff, James Haff, Hozie Haff, Otis Haff, Clara Kennedy, Irene Haff, and Louise Johnson.

She was a homemaker and LPN at Monette Manor until retirement.

Survivors include her husband, Bert Edward Morgan, and son, Paul Edward Morgan, both of Paragould, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will meet for graveside services Thursday, January 3rd, 10:00 a.m. at Pine Log Cemetery.

Thomas Allen Jackson

 


Thomas Allen Jackson, 80, of Paragould, died Monday, December 31, 2012, at his home. He was born August 28, 1932 in Greene County. He was preceded in death by his parents Emma May Freeman Murray and James Thomas Jackson. Allen retired as a supervisor from Dr. Pepper Bottling Company and was of Baptist belief.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Richard and Debbie Jackson of Paragould; daughters and sons-in-law: Debbie and Ed Maddox of Paragould, Brenda and Keith Parker of Arlington, Texas, 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, January 3rd, 6:00 until 8:00 at the Heath Funeral Home.
Family and friends will meet Friday, January 4th, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at Greene County Memorial Gardens for graveside services with Albert Camp officiating.
