Wanda Faye Roush

 



Wanda Faye Gerdes Roush, age 52, passed away at her residence in Lafe on Monday, December 1, 2008, due to a lengthy illness.

She was born on Memorial Day, May 30, 1956, at Lafe to Harold W. and Rose Mary Dicus Gerdes. She was retired from the Greene County Clerk’s Office. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lafe.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Rose Mary Gerdes, an infant brother, Dennis Gerdes, father-in-law, Charles “Coby” Roush, her maternal grandparents, Oscar and Dica Dicus, and her paternal grandparents, William and Mollie Gerdes.

Survivors include her husband, Phil Roush of Lafe, daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Chad Henson of Brookland, and Ashley and Curtis Reed of Paragould, her father, Harold W. Gerdes of Lafe, brothers and sister-in-law, Gary and Dorothy Gerdes of Paragould, and Greg Gerdes of Paragould, sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Ronnie Harvey of Lafe, grandson, Tyler Shane Henson, granddaughter, Alexis Nicole Reed, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harlan and Verda Crouch of Paragould, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rita and Terry Gladish of Paragould.

Visitation will be this evening from 5:30 until 9 at the Heath Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 3rd at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Curt Dwyer officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Gladish, Randy Hedge, Mike Ellis, Al Ryan, Kevin Reddick and James Crow.

Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church Building Fund.

Rosalee Atwell

 



Rosalee Holt Atwell, 80, of Paragould passed away Monday, December 1, 2008, at Greene Acres Nursing Home.

Survivors include her son, Eldon Atwell of Paragould, two daughters, Betty Webb of Corning and Carmen Dubar of Branson, Mo., six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 9 until11 a.m. Wednesday December 3rd, at the Ermert Funeral Home in Corning with service to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Cantwell Cemetery in Corning.

Donna LaRhea Kelly

 



Donna LaRhea Kelly, 56, of Paragould passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at her residence. She was born January 9, 1952 in Memphis, TN. She was a homemaker and member of Fairview Baptist Church.
Donna was preceded in death by her father, D. W. Kelly and maternal grandparents, James K. and Dorothy Partlow.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Kelly of Paragould, daughters and sons-in-law, Shannon and Daryl Masingale of Paragould and Summer and Chad Miller of Springdale, AR., mother, Jimmie Kelly of Paragould and brother Andy Kelly of Paragould, grandchildren, Jordan, Brooke and Ridge Masingale and Allison and Brandon Miller.
Everyone will meet at Mtn. Home Cemetery at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 05, 2008 for graveside services with Reverend Dennis Strope officiating.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6 until 8 pm at the Heath Funeral Home.

Georgia Gilmore



Mrs. Georgia Gilmore, age 75, of Paragould, formerly of Blytheville, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at AR. Methodist Hospital in Paragould.

She leaves her children, Sheila Blocker (Dennis) of Gosnell, Rocky Gilmore (Peggy) of Beech Grove, Dickie Gilmore (Diana) of Prim, David Gilmore (Tammie) of Beech Grove, three brothers, 11 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 05, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel at Blytheville with burial following in Dogwood Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Robin Ray Cox, age 43, of Jonesboro, passed away Wednesday, December 3rd at Trumann Health and Rehab in Trumann, he was born January 16, 1965.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Robert and Ann Cox of Cherokee Village, mother, Pearl Cox of Paragould, sister: Candace Struble, Holcomb, Missouri, brothers: John W. Gross, Chicago, IL, Martin Gross, Paducah, KY, Kim Cox, Saint Augustine, FL.

Family and friends will meet at Greene County Memorial Gardens at 12:00 p.m., Friday, December 05, 2008 with Reverend Robert Cox officiating.

Erwin H. Nething




Erwin H. Nething, 90, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at Greene Acres Nursing Home.
He was born January 17, 1918, at Lafe, where he lived all his life. He was a retired farmer and a life-long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church at Lafe.

He is survived by five children, Chester and Shirley Nething of rural Marmaduke, Katie and Bill Thompson of rural Marmaduke, Karen and Eugene Morris of Memphis, Dorothy and Harry Chunn of Memphis, and Norma and Mike DaVault of rural Paragould.

He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Iva, who passed away January 17, 2006, his parents, E. C. and Katherine Nething, one brother, Carl Nething, four sisters, Clara Nething, Hulda Bohle, Edna Scheer, and Selma Ohse, and by a son-in-law, Ronnie Robinson.

Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Lafe, 10:30 am, Saturday, December 6th, with Pastor Curt Dwyer officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 9:00 pm, Friday, at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Todd Nething, Talbert Nething, Collin Thompson, Steven Morris, Shane Robinson, and a special friend and neighbor, Stanley Bollinger. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Gibson, Winston Tritch, Wendell Curtland, Orvil Scheer, Dr. Dennis Basco and Harold Gerdes.

Memorials may be made to St. John’s Cemetery or to the charity of donor’s choice.

The family would like to thank the staff and therapists at Greene Acres Nursing Home for their professional caring manner. Also thanks to all those who visited Erwin, their kindness, prayers, and cards.

John Wayne Graue



John Graue of Norfork, AR., formerly of Bragg City, MO., and Rector, went to be with the Lord on December 2, 2008, in the V.A. Hospital in Little Rock at the age of 59 years.

Mr. Graue was born July 15, 1949, to the late Arthur and Alma (Morgan) Graue. He and his wife, Debbie, were owners of Deb’s Flowers and Gifts in Rector for many years. He attended Galatia Assembly of God Church in Norfork. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and worked as a correctional officer.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a son, Jewel Cavaness, a daughter-in-law, Tina Weber, and a brother, William Graue.

In addition to his loving wife and best friend, Debbie, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rockie and Toni Weber of Rector, a daughter and son-in-law, Diamond and Kevin Lowe of Paragould, a sister, Mary Martin of Phoenix, AZ., grandchildren, Jake, Jade, Casey, Jerrod Wayne, Casey Rue and Emerald, a niece and her husband, Tonya and Mitchell Ellis of Paragould, and their children, Luke and Jessica.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Marmaduke with Brother Larry Thomas officiating. Interment will be at Harvey’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation was Thursday at the Irby Chapel in Marmaduke.

Almarita R. Frenkel



Almarita Frenkel, age 84, of Marmaduke passed away December 3, 2008, at the Evergreen Nursing Home in Rector.

She was born September 25, 1924, to the late Thomas Cecil and Beulah Grace (Province) Ray in Greene County.

Almarita is survived by a son, Stephen Gaultney of W.V. and a daughter and her husband, Carol Anne and Jim Stone of Rison, AR. She had six grandchildren, Mary Stone Small (Lendell) of Rector, Doug Stone (Yuki) of Okinawa, Japan, Billy Stone (Mary Beth) of MI., Christa Hope Stone Ermert (Jerry) of Piggott, Steven Gaultney of TX., Denise Gaultney of TX., and 16 great-grandchildren.

Almarita will be cremated. She requested that no service be held.

The family has asked that memorials be made to the American Cancer society.

Willodean Pearce



Willodean Pearce, age 79, of Paragould passed away December 4, 2008, at The Heritage Nursing Home in Senath, MO.

She is survived by one brother, J.E. Boozer, of Walnut Ridge.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Thomas Haite Pearce, her parents, Frank and Ida Boozer, three brothers, Mayo, Glen and Bufford Boozer, and two sisters, Albertine Luke and Imogene Loretta Boozer.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 7th at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Walcott, with Marion Gramling officiating.

Conley Gunter
 


Conley "Buster" Gunter, of Corning, age 41, was born in Valparaiso, IN, October 14, 1967, son of Conley Gunter, Sr. and Sharon Gunter. He passed away at his home Friday, December 5, 2008.

A self-employed bricklayer, he married Georgie (Mock) Moser- Gunter July 29, 2002.
Survivors include, his wife Georgie, one son Christian Floyd Anthony Gunter, Cape Girardeau; one daughter Candace Leeann Gunter, Cape Girardeau; three step children Curtis Sarells, Cape Girardeau, Michael Moser, Newport and LaShonda Kay Moser -Gill of Paragould; one granddaughter Rowan Ashley Moser; mother Sharon Gunter, Paragould; two sisters Dora Hill and Christina Louise Gunter -Moore, both of Paragould.
He was preceded in death by his father.

Graveside services will be held at the Fairview Cemetery in Paragould at a date and time to be determined.

Nessa Marie Weatherspoon 15, of Marmaduke passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at her home in Marmaduke. She was born January 5, 1993 in Paragould.

Survivors include her parents, Richard and Virginia Weatherspoon of Marmaduke, paternal grandparents, Charles Richard Weatherspoon of Rector and Linda Weatherspoon of Michigan., maternal grandparents, Terry and Oneda Walker of Marmaduke, paternal great grandmother, Wilma Weatherspoon of Rector, a sister, Shalyn Weathersoon of Marmduke.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. Monday at the Mitchell Funeral Home of Rector.

Funeral services will be held at10:30 a.m. Tuesday December 9, 2008 at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Bro. George Haygood officiating. Burial will follow in the Harvey’s Chapel Cemetery near Marmaduke.

Emily Stark, age 72, of Paragould passed away December 6, 2008.
She is survived by her husband, David Stark, a daughter and son-in-law Roselani and Joe Utley, four grandchildren, Mele, Michelle, Joseph and James Utley and four great-grandchildren.

Geneva Pearl Hancock Matheny



 


Geneva Pearl Matheny, age 82, of Paragould, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2008, at her residence.
Mrs. Matheny was born February 20, 1926, in Risco, MO., and was a member of Center Hill Church of Christ. She and her husband were formerly house parents at Southern Christian Home in Morrilton, and at Paragould Children’s Home.

Survivors include her husband, Arvel Matheny of the home, three daughters, Peggy Stone of Little Rock, Glenda Betts and Sandy Hardin, both of Paragould, two brothers, Herbert “Buff” Hancock of Oil City, LA., and Richard Hancock of Peidmont, MO., four sisters, Ruby McMurtry of Paragould, Betty Lampe of Belleville, IL., Marie Miskle of Montgomery City, MO., and Martha Bubenik of Sea Drift, TX., six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Dorothy Hancock, two brothers, Leo Hancock and Jerry Hancock, two sisters, Shirley Spence and Linda Sedrick.

James L. Grayson



James Lawrence Grayson, age 87, of Corning passed away Sunday, December 7, 2008, at AR. Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

Born the son of Sanford Franklin Grayson and Leona Handwork Grayson on September 22, 1921, at Corning, Mr. Grayson was a maintenance supervisor for Riceland. He enjoyed woodworking and was of the Baptist faith.

On December 24, 1947, he was united in marriage to Delores Bertha Porterfield. She preceded him in death December12, 2002.

Survivors include his son, Larry Grayson of Jonesboro, daughters, Lynne Hall of Corning, Peggy Stanley of Hot Springs and Gayle Felton of El Dorado, grandchildren, Danea Hall, Alissa Scott and Anna Grayson, and great-grandchildren, Haley and Kathleen Scott.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Lloyd Grayson, and sisters, Mable Spence and Mildred Ryan.

Visitation will be this evening from 6 until8 at the Ermert Funeral Home in Corning.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 10th at the Calvary Baptist Church in Corning with the Revs. Sonny Simpson and Sunny Williams officiating. Burial will be in Corning Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bo Hubbard, John Herron, Jim VanNada, Terry Rapert, Tom Graham and Brad Scott.

Honoraries will be Tim Bippus, Donnie Little, William McMillian, James Blagg and E.J. Brooks.

Hattie Sue Roberts




Hattie Sue Roberts, age 54, went to be with the Lord Sunday, December 7, 2008.
She retired from Emerson Electric and is a member of Greater Vision Ministries.

She is survived by her daughters: Catherine Goodman of Lafe, Amanda Cogburn of Paragould, sons: Jeremy Cogburn of Lafe, Wesley Bateman of Paragould, sisters: Wava Guinn of Arbyrd, Janice Lancaster of Trumann, brother, David Chase of Cardwell and 13 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at Greater Vision Ministries. Her life will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 12th at Greater Vision Ministries with Reverend Rick Ethridge officiating.

Odell Windell Roberts



Odell Windell Roberts, age 59, passed away December 7, 2008, at AR. Methodist Medical Center, Paragould. He was born January 22, 1949, in Paragould to Milburn and Winnie Roberts. He served in the U.S. Air Force and worked at Darling Store Fixtures in Paragould.

He is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Ramirez and Telly Gilbee, both of Paragould, two stepsons, Wesley Bateman and Jeremy Cogburn, two stepdaughters, Cathy Goodman and Amanda Cogburn, one brother, Weldon Roberts of Lafe, six grandchildren, Whitney Wheat, Ryan Thomason, Jordan Thomason, Joshua Roberts, Lindsey McCay and Asher Murrell, 13 step grandchildren, one great-grandchild, Kaylee Wheat, one niece, Shelia Southard, and two nephews, Duane Roberts and Kelly Roberts.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Hattie Sue Roberts, and his parents.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 2008, at the Phillips Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2008, at Greene County Memorial Gardens with Brother Kevin Edgar officiating.

Active pallbearers are James Crow, Ryan Thomason, Jordan Thomason, Wesley Wheat, Kelly Roberts and Ronnie Tritch. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Josh Roberts.

Rebah Mae Butler Masters



Rebah Mae Masters, age 84, of Bunker, MO., formerly of Kennett, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2008, at Salem Memorial District Hospital in Salem, MO.
Born October 4, 1924, in Paragould, AR., daughter of the late Ivory Owen and Ethel Layton Butler, she was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Kennett, owned and operated a gift and floral shop in Centerville, MO., a Stanley Home Product dealer in Holcomb, MO., and Kennett and was in the medical supplies business.

On September 14, 1940, in Kennett, she married Wanie Ancil Masters, who survives.

Survivors also include one daughter, Glenna Schult, of Bunker, three sons, Dewayne Masters and wife, Mary, of Elkhart, IN., Ronnie Masters and wife, Carol, of Bridgeman, MI., and Roy Masters and wife, Jean, of Caledonia, MO., one brother, Cloral Butler, of St. Louis, MO., one sister, Vonah Lee Leathers, of Blytheville, AR., 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by one son, Sonny Masters, one sister, Imo Ridge and five brothers, Oras, Bryce, Dean, Loyd and Terry Butler.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 10, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donald Cox officiating.

Burial will follow in the Qulin Cemetery at Qulin, MO.

Memorials may be made to the Qulin Cemetery.

Thelma Dary



Thelma R. Dary was born in Greene County, March 12, 1920 daughter of Roy and Clemmie Idella Johns. She died in Bakersfield, CA, Monday, December 8, 2008. She was 88.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jack Dary, son Marvin "Hungry" Lee Holland, and step-grandson Terry Edington.
Survivors are three sisters Imojine, Dorothy and Goldie; daughter-in-law Bonnie Holland, Biggers, grandchildren Terry and Gennie Holland, Success, Rick and Debbie Sells, Portageville, MO, step-grandchildren Kim Edington, David and Julie Edington and Leanne Edington, great-grandchildren Amber, Chad and Savannah; step-great-grandchildren Josh, Jared, Jaden and Morgan and one great-great-grandchild Ashton; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Chapel services were held December 13th, 2008 in Hillcrest Mortuary in Bakersfield, CA with Rev. Ray Johns officiating.

Linda Marie Sanford




Linda Marie Sanford, age 61, of Paragould, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at her residence.
Born September 24, 1947, in Bartow, FL. Mrs. Sanford was formerly a maid at a motel and a member of New Beginnings Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Parks of Perkinston, Mississippi, and Mary Hanks of the home, five brothers, Wayne Pilgrum of KY., James Pilgrum and David Pilgrum, both of Avon Park, FL., Harvey Pilgrum of Portland, OR., and Lamar Pilgrum of FL.
She is also survived by two sisters, Gloria Pettus of FL., Katherine Trussel of AL., eleven grandchildren, and by fourteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilford Hubert Sanford, and by one son, Bill Sanford, Jr.

Visitation will be Friday, December 12th at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould, from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m.

No funeral service is scheduled.

Wilma Valentine Boothe



Wilma Valentine Boothe, age 79, of Walnut Ridge, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born November 10, 1929, in Paragould, and retired from the Paragould School System as a cafeteria supervisor. Mrs. Boothe was a member of Evergreen General Baptist Church, Walnut Ridge.

She is survived by her husband, Henan Boothe of Walnut Ridge, two brothers, Sammie Robinson of Tulsa, OK., Bobby Lee Robinson of DeSota, MO., a sister-in-law, Betty Robinson of Ballwin, MO., and by many other friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, L. C. Valentine, Jr., her parents, Willie and Artie Robinson, and by a brother, James Robinson

Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, December 13th, at Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Leonard Hensley officiating.
Visitation will be from 10:00 until11:15 a.m. Saturday, at the Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould. The procession will leave Mitchell Funeral Home at 11:15 a.m.

Donald Louis Rawls



Donald Louis Rawls, age 67, of Paragould, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at AR. Methodist Medical Center, Paragould.
Don was born August 22, 1941, he was a Professional Truck Driver for J. B. Hunt and a member of the Commissary Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Carol of the home, daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Terrel Harpe of Blythe, GA., Donna and Gary Gray of Lake City, AR., Emily and Matt Turner of Paragould, Lisa and John Tuetkin of Steeleville, IL., and Linda and James Gibson of Reno, AR., sons and daughter-in-law, William Rawls of Paragould, Michael Woodard of Steeleville, MO., and Paul and Carol Woodard of Paragould, sister & brother-in-law, Shirley and Austin White of Delaplaine, AR., seventeen grandchldren, and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, D. W. and Emma Rogers Rawls.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 at the Heath Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 13th, at 1:30 p.m. at the Heath Colonial Chapel with L. R. Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Children's Home of Paragould.

Yvonne Blanton



Yvonne Lecomte Blanton was born in France on July 8, 1924 the daughter of the late Jules and Pauline Marie Pittery Lecomte.

On June 7, 1947 in Paris, France, she was united in marriage to Willie M. Blanton, who preceded her in death February 2007.

In addition to France, Ms. Blanton had lived in Counce, Tennessee and Paragould, Arkansas, taking her oath of U.S. Citizenship on December 14, 2007. Ms. Blanton had worked at Garan Manufacturing for 12 years and I.T.T. in Corinth, Mississippi for 14 years before retiring. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, and was of Catholic belief.

Ms. Blanton departed this life on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 in Paragould, AR. at the age of 84 years, 5 months, 2 days.

Ms. Blanton is survived by 2 sisters: Odette Lecomte and Adele Lecomte Thiesset both of France.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ms. Blanton was preceded in death by a sister: Madeleine Lecomte, 3 brothers: Paul Lecomte, Pierre Lecomte, and Charlo Lecomte.

Services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Shackelford Funeral Chapel in Savannah, Tennessee, with officiating. Burial will follow in the Center Hill Cemetery at Counce, Tennessee.

John Robert Davis, age 82 of Paragould passed away Friday, December 12, 2008 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould.
John was born November 17, 1926, he was the retired co-owner and operator of J & L Upholstery and an ordained General Baptist Minister. He was a member of the Grace United General Baptist Church and attended the First Free Will Baptist Church. John was a WWII veteran.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Williams Davis, parents Johnnie James and Mary Rowe Davis, 2 brothers and 6 sisters.
Survivors include, his wife, Hilda Joan Davis of the home, sons and daughters-in-law, Larry Davis, Mike and Sherry Davis and Barry and Stephane Davis, all of Paragould, daughter and son-in-law, Marla and John McCord of Paragould., brother, Avon Davis of Paragould, grandchildren, Lyn Wilson, Josh Davis, Mackenzie Davis, Zachery McCord, Tyson Davis, Aubree McCord and Trase Davis, great grandchildren, Zac Wilson, Alec Wilson, Chloe Brown and Hayden Grace McCord.

Renia Goodman, of Lafe, was born September 7, 1959, she passed away at the age of 49, Thursday, December 11, 2008 at her home.

She worked at Emerson Electric for nine years.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Shatley, and her sister, Lenia VanHorn.

She is survived by her husband, Joel Goodman of the home, daughters and son-in-law, Carrie Dee and James Dowell of St. Johns, MI., Ginger Michelle Goodman of Paragould, son and fiance, Cody Lee Goodman and Melissa Vines of Rector, mother and stepfather, Lowanda and Robert Cole, brothers, Donnie Shatley and Darrell Shatley, both of Paragould, grandsons, Trent Kevin James Dowell of St. Johns and Alexander Goodman of Paragould, and granddaughters, Emily Renia Dowell of St. Johns, Alexis Goodman and Sabrina Goodman, both of Paragould, Julia Dawn Wilson, Gabrielle Dominique Wilson and Krystle Brooke Rubbo, all of Rector.

James William Jones, age 69, of Paragould went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on December 12, 2008, at his home. Born September 16, 1939, near Bono, he was a retired maintenance worker for Arkansas Methodist Hospital and a member of the Seed of Faith Pentecostal Church.

He is survived by his wife, Estella Jones of Paragould, two sons, Jimmy Lyn Jones and his wife, Tess, of San Diego, CA., and Virgil Alan Jones of Paragould, one daughter and her husband, Brenda Lee and Gary Wayne Dowler of Hooker, four sisters, Ruth Ann Dugan of St. Louis, Joyce Clem of Alton, IL., Lois Carol Niemeir of St. Louis and Patsy Faye White of St. Louis, seven grandchildren, Scott Jones, Alan Jones, Winter Richardson, Mandy Dowler, Dustin Dowler, Zachary Dowler and Alexandria Jones, three great-grandchildren, Lily Jones, Morgan Richardson and Laney Curry, two sisters-in-law, Norma Fields and Diane Malloy, and one brother-in-law, Jerry Malloy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Enoch and Claudia Mae Jones, and one brother, W. T. Jones.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 15th at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Trumann Wycoff officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 until 9 p.m. today at the Mitchell Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Stanley Rouse, Raybert Dowler, Gary Don Huckabay, Larry Keith Huckabay, Mike Ellis and Stanley Tritch.

Shirley Bohannon, age 73, of Bryant passed away Friday, Dec.12, 2008. She worked for Providential Insurance Company for 20 years and was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Sherwood.

She is survived by her son, James Timothy Higgins and wife, Karla, two granddaughters, Shelby Elise Higgins and Regan Alane Higgins, all of Bryant, and sister, Bonnie Barringer, of Douglasville, GA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Bohannon, sister, Florence Pillow, two brothers, Bob and Babe Pillow, and her parents, Bill and Dona Pillow.

Juanita Fannie Stonebraker




Juanita Fannie Stonebraker, age 79, of Paragould, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2008 in Memphis.
She was born November 30, 1929 into the family of the late Ora and Beulah Matthews.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Ray "Stoney" Stonebraker.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, James and Brenda Stonebraker of Memphis, sisters, Thelma Matthews, Barbara Matthews, both of Little Rock and Faye Jackson of Paragould, step grandson, John William Lamberth and five great grandchildren.

Harold L. Hood Sr.



Harold L. Hood Sr., age 87, of Malvern, formerly of Paragould and Blytheville, passed away December 13, 2008.

He was born August 12, 1921, at Potts Camp, MS., to Dale and Ora Lee Hood. He was a World War II Army veteran.

Survivors include his son, Harold Hood Jr. of Greenwood, grandsons, Wade Hood of Harlingen, TX., and Kelly Hood of Malvern, and five great-grandchildren.

His wife, Dorothy Duvall Hood, a sister and a grandson preceded him in death.

Services will be Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 3 p.m. in Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery.

T. L. DeGraw




T. L. DeGraw, age 65, of Paragould, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2008, at his residence.
An Army veteran of the Vietnam era, Mr. DeGraw was born December 12, 1942, in San Francisco, CA. He was a probation parole officer and a member of Center Hill Church of Christ.

Survivors include his mother, Mary DeGraw of Paragould, and four daughters, Cheri Childers, and Beth Jamison both of Kennett, Erica Hanlett of Nashville, TN., and Kristi Allmon of Paragould, one brother, Perry DeGraw of Freeport, IL., and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, William DeGraw.

There will be a memorial service 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 20th, at the Pine Knot Cemetery. No visitation is scheduled.

Dennis Abell



Dennis “Pike” Abell, age 90, of Titusville, FL., passed on to a new life December 14, 2008.

Pike was born August 16, 1918, to Emanuel and Ella Pike Abell in Paragould, the fourth of 11 children. He was predeceased by his parents and seven siblings.

Pike was a World War II Army veteran and worked with the CIA until his retirement in 1971. He moved to Titusville with his family in 1972. Pike volunteered as a victim witness advocate for the state attorney’s office for more than 20 years. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus (council 5667) for 36 years.

Pike is survived by his wife, Clara, of 58 years; daughter, Sherry Anello Chycota and husband, Dan; son, Martin Abell and wife, Telina; grandchildren, Michelle and Michael Anello Jr. and Cassandra and Grant Abell, all of Titusville; brothers, Wayne (Earline) Abell of Paragould, Frank (Sera) Abell of Raleigh, N.C.; sister, Mary Young of Mobile, AL., and many nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the North Brevard Funeral Home.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, December 20th at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Titusville. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memori al Gardens in Titusville.

Lura Marie Metz, age 46, of Paragould passed away December 14, 2008. She was born February 10, 1962 in Fresno, CA.
She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Mae Hall of Paragould, two sons, Charles Berry, Jr. and Bobby Berry, two daughters, Mary Berry and Cheree Berry all of Paragould, three brothers, Darrell Lee Metz, Jr. of Paragould, Terry Metz, Sr. of Marmaduke and Virgil Metz of Jonesboro, one sister Sherry Metz of Paragould.
Preceding her in death were her father, Darrell Lee Metz, Sr., one brother Charles Metz and a sister Mary Metz.

Carolyn Pickney



Carolyn Boone Pickney, age 76, of Clinton, IA., passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2008, in Iowa City, IA., after a brief illness.

Carolyn returned to Clinton, from Paragould two years ago following the death of her husband, Charles “Chuck” Pickney, after living in Arkansas for 30 years.

Carolyn was born in Flint, MI., March 5, 1932, the daughter of Jack and Grace Boone. She graduated from Paragould High School and married Chuck in 1950, moving with him to Missouri, then Iowa. Carolyn was a homemaker during the majority of her children’s school years, then worked for many years in the floral wire service after moving back to Arkansas in 1975.

Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her beloved dogs, Pepe and Heidi. She loved spending time at Spring River and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, along with the Arkansas Razorbacks and ASU Indians.

While in Paragould, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. After moving back to Clinton, she moved her membership to the FUMC in Clinton and earned 100 hours as a Mercy Auxiliary volunteer.

Carolyn is survived by two daughters, Lanie Raasch and her husband Don of Clinton, and Dawn Layer and her husband Dennis of Jonesboro, two sons, Casey Pickney and his wife Irene of Atlanta, TX., and Mike Pickney of Clinton, and her five grandchildren, Heather Dehner and her husband Jerry, Keith Raasch, and Lacy Pickney, all of Clinton, Lance Pickney of Texas and Callie Layer of Jonesboro, and five great-grandchildren.

Following her choice of cremation, a memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the First United Church at Paragould with the Rev. Allan Crum officiating.

Marcella (Witcher) Combs departed this life December 14, 2008, at St. John’s Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was born March 31, 1939, in Stanford, AR., to Henry and Iona Shoemaker Witcher.

Proceeded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister, Marcella leaves her companion, Bill Green of Farmington, MO., Scott Medley of Essex, MO., daughter, Theresa Dodson of Warrenton, MO., stepdaughters, Cathy Younker of O’Fallon, MO., Diana Lewis of Farmington, MO., Denise Green of FL., several grandchildren and great grandchildren, brothers, Dallas Witcher of Henry, TN., James Witcher of Hope, AR., sisters, Ann King of Grafton, OH., Tess Bingham of Searcy, AR., and Tressie Ring of Pocahontas.

Eugene Gramling



Eugene “Gene” Gramling, age 84, of Jacksonville, FL., a native of Walcott and formerly of Kennett, MO., passed away Monday, December 15, 2008, at St. Lukes Hospital in Jacksonville.

He was born January 31, 1924, at Walcott, to the late Estes and Cordie Gramling. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Walcott.

Mr. Gramling is survived by Clara Gramling of the home; sons, Larry Gramling of Paragould and Terry Gramling of Memphis; daughter, Regina Garrett of Jacksonville; brother, Stan Gramling of Cabot; sisters, Maxine Ward of Aurora, Mo., and Madonna Stewart of Walcott; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Frankie Gramling, Bob Gramling and Malcolm Gramling, and one sister, Aledene Tinkle.

He was a World War II veteran and in 1986 retired from the Arkansas Highway Department at Paragould.

A formal memorial celebration will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Walcott State Park with the Revs. Sam Stewart and Marion Gramling officiating. All family and friends are invited to attend.

Barbara Fisher, age 63, of Paragould was born June 27, 1945, she passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at her residence.

Lynda Ann Elliott



Mrs. Lynda Ann Chandler Elliott, age 56, of West Memphis passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2008.

She was born January 26, 1942, at Paragould, the daughter of Louis and Helen Sims Chandler. Ann married the Rev. J.E. Elliott on October 1, 1959.

Ann was a homemaker and faithful member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Harrisburg, where her husband was the minister. Ann loved the Lord. She was the adult ladies Sunday school teacher and was very active in other church activities. She enjoyed sewing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by one son, J.E. “Junior” Elliott Jr., her parents, and two brothers, Leslie and Paul Chandler.

Ann is survived by her husband of 49 years, the Rev. J.E. Elliott of West Memphis, three daughters, Angela Smith of Heber Springs, Leslie Snyder and husband Tim of Lexa, and Alison Woolley and husband Eric of Bartlett, TN., one brother, Jim Chandler of Charleston, S.C., four sisters, Pat Black of Beebe, Nancy Weaver of Cash, Debbie Wilson of Mayflower and Jeannia Chandler of Knoxville, TN., four grandchildren, Brandon Smith, Kristen George, Matthew and Ashley Snyder, and three great-grandchildren, Zoey and Lily Smith and Ariana George.

Mary Elizabeth Boyd McGinnis, age 72 of Paragould passed away Thursday, December 18, 2008 at the NEA Hospital in Jonesboro.
"Liz" as she was known to here family, was born May 27, 1936. She was retired from L. A. Darling and served many years volunteering for the March of Dimes. She loved her family and many friends. She enjoyed making her ceramics and her basketball games be it on TV or live. She was of the Baptist belief.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Whitfield and Grace Hill Boyd and a brother, Larry Boyd.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Gene McGinnis, daughter, Retha Kappelman of Paragould; two granddaughters, Danna Woods and Passed awayra Robinson and great grandson Jamal Savior all of Paragould. Sisters, Marie Vaughn and Stella Boyd of Paragould, Wilma Fowler of Chattanooga, TN; brothers, Vernon Boyd of Paragould, Herschel Boyd of Rockford, IL, Walter Boyd of O'Fallon, MO and Joe Boyd of Doniphan, MO. many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Opal Lorene Mayberry Bateman, age 92, of Memphis, formerly of Paragould, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2008, at her residence.
Mrs. Bateman was born December 1, 1916, in Bonne Terre, MO., to Jordan and Cora Mayberry. She was a retired cook for the Paragould School District and a member of East Side Baptist Church.

 
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Shirley Bateman of Paragould, one daughter, Wanda Tatum of Memphis, and a daughter-in-law, Ann Bateman of Paragould. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, a very special granddaughter, Deborah Bateman, twenty-six great grandchildren, sixteen great great grandchildren, and by several nieces and nephews.

 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Bateman, her parents, one son, Ted Bateman, five brothers, Doug, Andrew, Gene, Ralph, and Virgil Mayberry, and by one sister, Ruby Fisher.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 9:00 pm, Friday, at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Ulyess Edward Chambless


Ulyess Edward Chambless, 81, of Paragould, passed away Friday, December 19, 2008, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
Born December 6, 1927, in Nauvoo, AL. Mr. Chambless retired from the Dr. Pepper Bottling Company of Paragould. An Army veteran of WWII and of the Korean conflict, he also retired from the Army National Guard with over 30 years service He was a member of the Second and Walnut Church of Christ and of the American Legion.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Linda Chambless of Paragould, Ronald and Becky Chambless of Annapolis, MD., two daughters and a son-in-law, Beth and Doug Smith of Paragould, and Phyllis Bell of Rio Vista, TX. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Chris Chambless, Teri Shipman, and Jamie Shirley, all of Paragould Kim Stulir of TX., Eddie, Andy and Julie Chambless of Annapolis, MD., seven great grandchildren; four aunts, two uncles; and by his loyal companion, his dog, Grover.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luke and Eula Chambless; a three year old son, Eddie Chambless; his first wife, Wava Chambless; and by his second wife, Marian Queen Chambless.

Visitation will be Sunday, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Kenneth Franklin Gregory, age 69, of Paragould, passed away December 20, 2008, in Bedford, VA. Born July 8, 1939, he was the son of the late Samuel and Mary Gregory. He was a master electrician and plumber by trade and served the Paragould area for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vonda L. Davis Gregory; a son, Mike Gregory; and two brothers, Leland and Wally Gregory.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Shannon Gregory of Jonesboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Donnie Boggess of Bedford, VA., one brother, Dallas “Bud” Gregory of Paragould; two sisters, Geneva Martin and Berta Shaver, both of Paragould; and grandchildren, Chris, Alex and Nick Gregory and Elijah Boggess.

A private memorial service for family and close friends will be January 3, 2009 in Paragould.

Lorene Brown




Lorene Brown, 89, of Rockford, IL. Passed away Sunday, December 21, 2008 at her residence. She had lived in Rockford, for the last 34 years, moving there from Delaplaine. She was a member of the Church of Christ and was a switchboard operator.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Brown; parents, J.T. and Dessie Cummings McBroom; and a brother, J.E. McBroom.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Hegberg of Rockford and Shirley Fisackerly and husband, Larry, of Monticello; grandchildren, Theresa Wake, Heath Hegberg and Stacy Usry; and two great-grandchildren, Nicklas Wake and Nickita Beach.

Visitation will be Sunday December 28th from 12:30 until 2 p.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge prior to the service.
Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. with Charles Abanathy officiating. Burial will follow in Jones-Ridge Cemetery in Delaplaine.

Pallbearers will be Terry McBroom, Kent McBroom, Jake McBroom, James Compton, Frankie Rice and Jeff Tabor.

Tonya Wright




Tonya Carol (Stringer) Wright, age 41, was born on November 19, 1967. She went to Heaven on December 23, 2008.
Visitation will be held at Heath Funeral Home December 26th from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. December 26 in the Heath Colonial Chapel with Bro. Chris George officiating, followed by a brief service at Brown's Chapel Cemetery.
Those attending are encouraged to wear Titans Blue.
Her survivors include, husband, Joey Wright, two precious daughters, Rachil Wright and Josey Wright, dad, Galen Stringer and sister, Angie Stringer, all of Jonesboro will remember Tonya for her love of life and them.
Tonya is now with her family who preceded her into Heaven, her mama, Carolyn Stringer, her grandparents and uncles.

Lois Bolin



Lois Faye Bolin, age 85, of Brookland, passed away, Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. She was born on July 18, 1923 in Monette and lived in the Brookland area for the past six years and formerly of Childress and Monette.

She was a retired caregiver and member of the Grace United Baptist Church in Paragould. She loved to help people and helped with several community centers in the area.

Survivors include one niece, Janet Poe of Brookland, three nephews, Ted Gardner of Paragould, Rev. Jerry Reed of Monette and Donnie Gardner of AZ., one half-brother,
Charles Douglas Shannon of OK. and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arch “Shorty” and Myrtle Shannon, three sisters and one brother.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Greene County Memorial Gardens at Paragould with Rev. Jerry Reed officiating.

There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family request lasting memorials to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.

Delbert C. Williams Jr.



Delbert C. Williams Jr., age 44, of Jonesboro passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2008.

He was born at Paragould July 26, 1964. Mr. Williams was a mechanic.

He leaves behind his wife, Tina Williams of the home; a son, Dustin Williams of Jonesboro; a daughter, Lisa Williams of Jonesboro; his mother and stepfather, Bonnie and Steve Mink; two brothers, Bobby Williams and Tony Williams, both of Paragould; and six grandchildren, Briana Williams, Darrell Hinton, Jazamine Williams, Sha-Lisa Hinton, Kyle Williams and Angel Moore.

He was preceded in death by his father, Delbert C. Williams Sr.; a daughter, Christy Seagraves; and two grandsons, Jordan Seagraves and Jerimiah Seagraves.

Graveside funeral services and burial will be held Saturday, December 27th in Pine Log Cemetery, beginning at 2 p.m.

Visitation will be held before the service from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Rose Marie Stanfill




Rose Marie (Wilcox) Stanfill, age 78, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 25th at Skilcare Nursing Center in Jonesboro. She was born in Brighton, AR on November 7, 1930.
Mrs. Stanfill was a former employee of Emerson Electric and a homemaker. She was a member of the East Side Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Stanfill, son, Terry Stanfill, granddaughter, Jill Garrett, daughter-in-law, Rita Stanfill and by her parents, Roy Wilcox and Ethel Gaskill Wilcox. She is survived by daughters and spouses: James and Betty Garrett and Mike and Peggy Woodside; son, Winford Stanfill all of Paragould. Also surviving are granddaughters and spouses: Keith and Wendy Hampton, Jamie and Niki Martin of Paragould. Grandsons, Tony Woodside of Harrison, AR, Grant Woodside of Little Rock, AR Matthew Woodside and spouse, Amy of Pinehurst, NC , Chad Garrett and spouse Julie of Nashville, TN. Granddaughter and spouse, Brian and Autumn Hicks and grandson Andrew Gander all of Paragold. She is also survived by four great-granddaughters, Emily Hampton, Brooke Hampton, Lyndi Martin and Presley Martin all of Paragould. Three greatgrandsons, Caleb Woodside and Jacob Woodside of Pinehurst, NC. Carter Hicks of Paragould. Two Sisters, Shirley Terry of Minnesota and June Beasley of Paragould; brothers, J. C. Wilcox and Doug Wilcox of Paragould, Earl Wilcox of Rock Hill SC; Roy Wilcox, Jr. and spouse Juanita of Jonesboro, Winston Wilcox of Jonesboro and Mack Wilcox of Memphis, TN and a host of other friends and relatives.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 27th at 10:00 a.m. at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Revs. Dennis Strope and Dennis Scudder officiating.

Tom Wylie Wyatt



Tom Wylie Wyatt, age 89, of Paragould, passed away Friday, December 26, 2008 at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. He served our country for 13 years in the Army while serving during WWII and Korea. He was a farmer and a member of Oak Grove Heights Church Of Christ.

 
Tom was born December 24,1919 in Lawrence County the son of the late Mont and Zola Mae Edmonson Wyatt. His brothers, John Newton Wyatt, Robert Wesley Wyatt and Billy Wyatt also preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife: Margie Wyatt, of the home; daughter: Sharon Junca of Jonesboro; sons: Eldon Wyatt of Columbia, S.C., and Oniel Wyatt of High Ridge, MO., sisters: Emily Carter of Groveton, TX., Ruth Trotter of Albuquerque, N.M., brother: Charles Lee of Ocala, FL., nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.


The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday night at Heath Funeral Home. His life will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 29th at the Heath Colonial Chapel with his grandson, Marty Wyatt officiating.
Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Don Wyatt, Troy Wyatt, Keith Wyatt, Danny Price, Justin Waln, and Vince Caldwell.

Jerry Clinton Pillow



Jerry Clinton Pillow, age 60, of Lexington, TN., passed away Saturday, December 27, 2008, at Jackson General Hospital in Jackson, TN. He was born February 11, 1948, to Bob and Christine Pillow.
He graduated from Greene County Tech in 1966. Jerry worked for Auto Zone for 29 years.

 
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sheila Brittingham and his father, Bob Pillow.
He is survived by his wife, Carol (Locke) Pillow of Lexington, TN., his mother, Christine Pillow of Paragould; daughter, Tera Lee of Parsons, TN., stepdaughters, Stephanie Combs of Bells, TN., and Kim Woody of Jonesboro; and five grandchildren.


Visitation is Monday evening from 6 until 8 at the Heath Funeral Home in Paragould. Graveside service will be Tuesday, December 30th at 11 a.m. in Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Emily Amanda Pyle, age 16, of Brookland, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2008, at her home. She was a student at Brookland High School and attended Bethel Church Of Christ.

 
Born August 8, 1992, she was the daughter of Lonnie and Gloria Pyle. She was preceded in death by her paternal great grandparents, Ray and Yvettea Pyle and maternal great grandfather, Bill Cline.
Emily is also survived by her half-brother, Wade Lytle; half-sister, Maddie Lytle; step-brother, Grant Tunstill; birth mother, Julie Tunstill; and step-father, Jason Tunstill, all of Athens, Al., and great grandmother, Frances Cline of Paragould.

 
A special thanks is sent to Amenie Wellman; Chris-mari Wellman; Aubreigh Soles, Dr. Warren Skaug, Dr. Jane Sneed, and Dr. Charles Kemp and their staffs; and all of Emily's doctors at Arkansas Children's Hospital.

Lorene Virginia Anderson, age 83, of Paragould, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2008. She was a retired school teacher of 27 years and a member of the Commissary Church of Christ. She was born May 5, 1925, the daughter of the late Telfair and Elsie Pillow. She was also preceded in death by her brother, J.D. Pillow.
Lorene is survived by her husband, Hubert Anderson of Paragould; sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Fionnuala Anderson and David and Regina Anderson, all of Paragould; grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Brian and Luricka Anderson of Fallon, NV., Shawn Anderson and Amanda Rogers of Paragould, and Nicolas and Brianna Anderson of Paragould; granddaughter, Sheila Anderson of West Palm, FL., great granddaughter, Whitney Anderson of Fallon, NV., and sisters Maxine Hyde and Joy Newberry, both of Paragould.

Ranee Ann Fletcher



Ranee Ann Fletcher, 46, of Paragould passed away Saturday, December 27, 2008, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould.

She was born August 25, 1962, at Hayti, MO. She was a 1980 graduate of Greene County Tech and a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

She is survived by her mother and father, Glenda and Gerald “Jack” Fletcher; one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Lisa Fletcher; two nieces, Amy and Josie Fletcher; and one nephew, Casey Fletcher, all of Paragould.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 3rd 2009 in the Center Hill Chapel at Phillips Funeral Home with Marion Gramling officiating.

Richard Glickert

 

Richard Eugene “Rick” Glickert, 67, of Paragould, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, March 19, 1941. He served his country in the Air Force from 1963 to 1967. He worked in Thule, Greenland as a civilian supervisor from 1967 until 1970. He married his beautiful wife, Linda, on August 14, 1971. Rick was retired from Anchor Packaging where he worked for twenty plus years. After his retirement he devoted his life to babysitting his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and brother, and friend to many more than just his immediate family. He was an admired role model to many.

 
He was preceded in death by a very special uncle, Carl Edward Brophy; his parents, Charles Glickert and Velma Norris Bailey; a son, James Robert Glickert; a brother, David Jones, and a grandmother, Myrtle Yoakum Norris.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Ewell Glickert of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Kari Glickert of Paragould; one daughter, Sarah Glickert of Nashville, Tennessee; his grandchildren, MacKenzie, Connor, and Kyle Glickert, all of Paragould; two sisters, Carol Ann Garnold Scantlin of Licking, Missouri and Robin Price of Arkansas City, Kansas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Drew and Barbara Jones of Patterson, Missouri and Doug and Mary Jones of Sedro Wooley, Washington; a very special Aunt, Juanita “Aunt Neetie” Norris Brophy of Mexico, Missouri, and a host of relatives.

 
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 30th , 3:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Monday evening, 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Carey, Steven Edgin, Walker Hunsinker, Jeff LeHew, Mike Morris, and Jon Rhodes.

Reba Chloe Nolen



Reba Chloe Nolen, age 90, of Marmaduke passed away Saturday, December 27, 2008, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould.

Born February 13, 1918, at Rector, she was retired from Brown Shoe Co.

She is survived by one stepson, Darrell Nolen of Paragould; four nephews, Joel and Kevin King, both of Hardy, Toby Craig of CA., and Johnnie Smith of MI., two nieces, Deanna Strobbe of Hardy and Nina Shaw of MI., and several other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Gertie Morris; her husband, Bud Nolen; three sisters, Marie Smith, Beatrice Craig and Mary King, and one stepdaughter, Donna Starnes.

Graveside funeral services and burial will be Monday, December 29th at 1:00 p.m. in Woodland Heights Cemetery at Rector under direction of Mitchell Funeral Home. No visitation is scheduled.

Rhoda Mae (Forkum) Greer Boothe Mullins was born January 4, 1920 in Joiner, AR. She departed this life Sunday, December 28, 2008, at her home at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 24 days.
She was a registered dietician at Greene Acres Nursing Home and attended Walnut Corner General Baptist Church.
She was preceeded in death by her husbands, Odos Greer with whom she raised four children, Willie Boothe and Ralph Mullins, parents, Henry and Eva Cordelia Walker Forkum, son, Odos Greer, Jr., and one grandson, Edward Darrin Harpole.
She is survived by one son, William Henry Greer and Betty of Byhalia, MS., two daughters, Betty and Johnny Harpole of Paragould and Baraba Jean and Eddie Harpole of Delaplaine. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Renee Greer, Michelle McCloud, John Harpole, Tommy Greer, Donna Breece and Amanda Hantke and 10 great grandchildren; one sister: Hazel Forkum of Paragould; five brothers: Melvin "Jack" Forkum, Norman "Wendy" Forkum, Tyler "Tab" Forkum, Billie Joe Forkum all of Walcott and Richard Forkum of Columbia, MS.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at the Heath Funeral Home. Her life will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Walnut Corner General Baptist Church with Reverend Bobby Wade and Reverend Marion Stringer officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Colton Jeffrey Carr



Colton Jeffrey Carr, age 17, of Paragould passed away Sunday, December 28, 2008 as a result of an accident.

Colton was born January 14, 1991, he was president of the Future Farmers of America at Marmaduke High School and a member of the livestock show team. Colton was a senior at Marmaduke High School and of the Baptist faith.

He enjoyed everything outdoors including hunting, fishing and working on his truck. He touched many lives in his 17 years. He lived every day to the fullest and will be missed dearly.

He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Launa Burkheart, R.C. Weber, Ben Carr, John and Viola Jackson; and his friend, Kyle Huckabay.

Survivors include his parents, Jeff and Shala Carr of the home; brother, Colin Carr of the home; paternal grandparents, Wayne and Shalia Carr of Eureka Springs; maternal grandparents, Donna Jackson of Marmaduke and Randy and Debbie Jackson of McDougal; great-grandparents, Ruby Weber of Rector, Norma Carr, Donald “Pete” and Janet Burkheart, all of Paragould; aunts and uncles, Kristi and Darrel Thompson, and Shannon and Chadisty Jackson.

Terry Kyle Huckabay



Terry Kyle Huckabay, age18, of Paragould, passed away Sunday, December 28th , as the result of an accident.

Kyle was born May 31, 1990, he was an avid baseball player and hunter and loved to fish. He was a student at Black River Technical College studying electrical engineering. He was a 2008 honor graduate of Marmaduke High School. He received the Doug Drope Award for baseball, along with many others.

Kyle was preceded in death by his best friend, Colton Carr; and paternal grandfather, Macon Huckabay.

Survivors include his parents, Terry Huckabay of Marmaduke and Cindy Archibald of Paragould; sister, Whitney Huckabay of Marmaduke; girlfriend, Chelsea Parks; best friend, Neal Thrash; grandparents, Earl and Linda Parrish and Ann Huckabay, all of Marmaduke; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.

Visitation will be tonight beginning at 6 in the Marmaduke First Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Marmaduke High School gymnasium with the Revs. Kim Bridges, David Poe, Tracy Archibald, Kevin Hawley and Bill Muse officiating.

Millard Harvey



Millard Harvey, age 82, of Lake City, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2008, at his residence.

He was born September 7, 1926, at Dixie to the late Tom and Wanda Harvey. He had worked at Atlas Construction Co. as a dragline operator and at Monroe’s as a line supervisor.

Mr. Harvey was a member of the Lake City Masonic Lodge and served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed being outside.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Harvey of the home; two daughters and their husbands, Pat and Gerald Malone of Lake City and Etta and Ronnie Gould of Carriere, MS., four grandchildren, Regina Jennings of Dallas, GA., Jennifer Pope of Scottsdale, AZ., Ronda Prestwood of St. Bernard, LA., and Chad Gould of Violet, LA., a sister, Imogene McGee of Kalamazoo, MI., and seven great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard Harvey and Willard Harvey; and a sister, Maudell Widner.

A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, December 31st at 11 a.m. in the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel at Jonesboro with the Rev. R.W. Goodman officiating. Burial will follow in Woods Chapel Cemetery near Paragould.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Larry Ryan, Tony Harvey, Tom Harvey, Ronnie Harvey, Chad Gould and Rick Wineland.

Lola Medlock Scholl



Lola Medlock Smith Scholl age 72, of Paragould, passed away Monday, December 29th 2008, she was born August 7, 1936 in Trumann, Arkansas. She was married to Alfred Scholl December 14th 1985 of the home.
Lola was the Chief of the Western Cherokee Nation of Arkansas and Missouri and spent her life working for federal reinstatement of the tribe. She was also retired from GE in Jonesboro.

Her children include Sandra Bogan and husband, Harold; Robert Lee Mitchem, Jerry Dill and wife Deborah; Tommy Mitchem and wife Dana; Lynda Mitchem; and Robby C. Mitchem and wife Misty.
Grandchildren include Jamie Suarez and wife Amy; Melissa Suarez; Amanda Mitchem, Jerry “Spanky” Dill, Billy Wayne Dill, Crystal Dill, Chastity Elrod, Kateaka Mitchem, Stacy Mitchem, Angela Mitchem, Tommy Flarhety, Chris Bowlin, Thax, Sierah, Piper, and Valley Mitchem. A niece Helen Ferrell and husband Ben, along with a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents George Washington Medlock Smith, Ethel Coy Smith, three brothers, Edward Eudell Medock, Ultes Wayne Medlock, George “Bud” Elliston Medlock, one sister Claudia Geniece Medlock Ferrell; and granddaughter Shonda Misty Bowlin.
A memorial service will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Chief Walking Bear officiating.
Burial will be private. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 1 until 3 p.m. at the Chapel.

McCartney Lennon Glover, age 7, of Paragould, passed away Monday, December 29, 2008, at her residence. She was born December 22, 2001, in Paragould.
