Phyllis Joy Wilcox
 


Phyllis Joy Wilcox, 64 of Nashville, TN., formerly of Marmaduke, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2010 at her residence. Phyllis was a guest services clerk and attended the Assembly of God Church. She was born April 17, 1946 to the family of Taylor and Lucille Price.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ron Wilcox and her father, Taylor Price.

Survivors include her son, Greg Wilcox of Wright City, MO; mother, Lucille Price of Nashville, TN; brothers and sisters-in-law, Phillip and Erica Price of Gallatin, TN; and Mark and Susan Price of Delta Junction, AK; grandson, Brent Wilcox of MO; granddaughters, Tiffany Marlar and Samantha Wagner of MO; and great grandson, Jack Wagner of MO; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 4th, 11:00 a.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with Revs. Mark Russell and Arthur Phelps officiating.
Burial will follow in Harvey’s Chapel Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Agnes Saylor Laman



Agnes Saylor Laman of Tuscumbia, AL, formerly of Scottsboro, passed away, August 2, 2010 in Shoals Hospital, Muscle Shoals, Alabama. She was born October 20, 1926 to the family of Fred & Ruth Saylor.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lannie Laman, parents, brother, Tommy Saylor and sister, Dorothy Jane Cole.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law; Fred & Shirley Rutledge, of Sikeston, Missouri, Mick & Mary Laman, of Muscle Shoals, AL; daughter and son-in-law; Patricia & Jim Blackburn of Hollywood, AL; grandchildren; Annette (Scott) Readnour, of Festus, Missouri, Teresa (Robert) Williford, of McKinney, Texas, Jason (Ryan) Blackburn, of Section, AL, Jessica (Jeremy)Rousseau, of New Market, AL,Catherine Shea and Alexander Laman; great-grandchildren; Eli, Isaac and Elaina Readnour, Peyton and Addison Williford, Bre and J.D. Glen Coleman

 

Glen Coleman, 81, of Paragould, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. He was born February 23, 1929 in Lake City, AR.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, parents, Aaron and Susie Martin Coleman, brothers, Berl, Harold, Doug and Aaron Coleman and sister, Winnie Sims. He was retired after many years of running a saw mill and cotton gin. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by son and daughter-in-law: Steve and Gina Coleman of Greenwood, AR; daughter and son-in-law: Pam and Rusty McAllister of Paragould; brothers: J. D. Coleman of Monette and Frank Coleman of Paragould; sister: Bonnie Cass of Niles, MI and three grandsons: Bradley and Nick Coleman and Ryan McAllister.

The family will receive friends Friday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. The celebration of his life will be Saturday, August 7th, 1:00 p.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with Reverend Tom Letchworth officiating. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Louise Erdine Nowicki

 

Louise Erdine Nowicki, 92 of Paragould passed away Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Louise was born September 26, 1917 she was a homemaker and a member of the Hospital Auxillary for more than 35 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Mamie Shurtz Langwell; husband, Ed Nowicki; brothers, Wayne, Wilfred, Clayton and Elwood. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn & Frank Sturgell of Bradenton, Fl, Janet and Mark Woodfruff of Paragould, and Phyllis and Maurice Neveraski of Granger, IN. 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday evening 5:00 until 7:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, August 9th, 10:00 a.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with Father Mike Sinkler officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bronson, MI.
The family has requested that memorials be made to St. Mary’s School Fund, 220 N. 2nd Street, Paragould, AR 72450 or Arkansas Methodist Medical Center Auxillary Scholarship Fund.

Rosella Ann McDonald
 


Rosella Ann Chapps McDonald of Paragould passed away Friday August 6, 2010 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Little Rock, she was 53 years old.
She was born November 6, 1956 in Fort Hood, TX to the late Frank and Addie Scholl Chapps. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Shannon Mullins, Jonesboro; and Deannie Smith, Stateville, IL; two brothers, Albert Chapps, Hardy and Franklin Eugene Chapps, Oklahoma; four sisters, Carol Rasmussen, Oklahoma, Linda Stafford, Strawberry, Beverly O’Barts, Possum Grape, Minnie Dunahunne, MO; three grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday August 18th, 6:00 pm at Bakers Cemetery in Hardy, Minister Floyd Rickard officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service, 401 W. Main St. Walnut Ridge, AR.

Charlie Greear



Charlie Greear, 78, of Paragould, passed away August 7, 2010 at Bono. Born February 19, 1932 in Greene County, he was a retired farmer and member of the Lorado Baptist Church.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and David Taylor of Bono, four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Ever Lieu Greear; his wife, Ella Mae Greear; one son, Donnie Greear, and two sisters, Vestle Morrow and Estle Frederickson.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, August 10th, 10:30 a.m. at Morrow Cemetery with Rev. Kenny Johnson officiating. Arrangements are by Mitchell Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday evening, 6:00 until 9:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home.

Bobby G. Emerson
 


Bobby G. Emerson, 86, of Albuquerque, N.M., passed away Saturday, August 7, 2010 at home with his devoted wife, Cassie, by his side. He was born in Paragould, Arkansas where he began working for the family funeral home at the age of 14. He graduated from mortuary science school in St. Louis and moved to New Mexico where he continued his career until his retirement.
He worked at Strong-Thorn Mortuary Service for many years as well as Direct Funeral Services. He was a member of Kiwanis club, Elks club, 4-H as well as other charitable organizations.

He is preceded in death by his stepson, Rick Warwick.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cassie P. Emerson; as well as numerous family and friends who loved and will miss him.
Funeral Services will be held at Albuquerque Bible Church, 320 Montano Rd NW Thursday, August 12th, at 1:00 p.m., Chaplain Bob Evans of Ambercare Hospice officiating.
Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, 700 Yale Blvd, SE.

Alma E. Rodriguez



Alma E. Rodriguez, 64, of Paragould, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2010 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Mrs. Rodriguez was born May 18, 1946, in Mounds, and retired from Greene Acres Nursing Home as a dietary worker. She was a Protestant.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Rodriguez of the home; one son, Jackey Purdom of Paragould; two daughters, Chris Ann Langle of Salem, Kellie Burchell of Paragould; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 11th, 1:30 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Ruben Rodriguez officiating. Burial will be at Mars Hill Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be Wednesday beginning at 12:00 noon until service time at Mitchell Funeral Home.

Joyce Lola Tedder



Joyce Lola Tedder, 77, of Paragould, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2010, at her home.

Born June 26, 1933, in Childress, Arkansas, she retired from Emerson Electric and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, M. C. Tedder of Paragould; one daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Joyce and Michael Garner of Marmaduke; and three step-daughters, Debbie Zajac of Cleveland, Ohio, Cathy Conley of North Glenn, Colorado, and Pamela Coats of Thornton, Colorado. She is also survived by three sisters, Alma Johnson of Paragould, Dealie Walters of Otsego, Michigan, Billie Douglas of Riverside, Michigan; four grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and ten step great grandchildren.

Mrs. Tedder was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Emma Owens; two brothers, Leadell Owens, and George Owens; one sister, Geneva Evans; one son, Charles William Tracer; and her first husband, Charles Alford Tracer.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 12th, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Tim Wooldridge officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home.

Johnnie Franklin Wineland
 


Johnnie Franklin Wineland, 77, of Paragould passed away August 8, 2010 at St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center. He was born July 22, 1933 in Paragould to Guy and Ruby Wineland. He liked to spend time at his cabin on Norfork Lake and go fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Wineland; one son and daughter-in-law Joe and Jana Wineland of Paragould; two daughters and son-in-laws, Mary and Tommy Fears of Orlando, FL and Sarah and Bruce Murrell of Paragould; two sisters, Wanda Williams of Paragould and Marceline Wilson of Lansing, MI; six grandchildren, Ben and Barbara Fears, Brett and Madison Wineland, Hunter Roberts and Emma Caldwell; one great-grandchild, Alyssa Scotcher and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and one brother, Bill Wineland.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 11th, 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Bob Lee officiating. Burial will be at Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Leroy Johnston



Leroy Johnston, 82, of Paragould went to glory on Monday, August 9, 2010, at his home.

He was born June 2, 1928, to General and Lena Johnston.

Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Ellere Johnston; three sons, Dennis and Dianne Johnston, Elmo and Karen Hackworth, and James and Lana Hackworth, all of Paragould; three daughters, Brenda and Kenny Lowe of Paragould, Pam and Leroy Ellis of Walcott, and Melinda and Rick Dawson of Ozark, Mo.; a foster daughter, Akiko Cardille of Coronedo, CA.; a foster son, David Hyde of Paragould; many, many other foster children whom he loved very much; five brothers, Nathan Johnston, Jackie Johnston, Robert Johnston, David Johnston and Jerry Johnston, all of Paragould; two sisters, Hazel Young of Love Park, IL., and Alapha Flotard of New Jersey; 14 grandchildren; and 28 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, General Jack Johnston; his mother, Lottie Velena Johnston; one brother, Kenneth Johnston; one sister, Aldean Rhein; one son, Rickey Leroy Johnston; two grandsons, Chad Dawson and Brad Dawson; and one great-grandson, James Wilcox.

The family will receive friends at Grace United General Baptist Church this evening from 6:00 until 8:00. Funeral services will beThursday, August 12th, 11:00 a.m. at the church with Shane Stovall and Royce Schanda officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Active pallbearers will be Teddy Lowe, Brad Lowe, Joe Lowe, Rickey Ellis, Brian Hackworth and Denny Johnston.

Leonard McElrath
 


Leonard McElrath, age 80 of Cave City, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born March 16, 1930 in Paragould, Arkansas, to Luther and Ola Stephens McElrath. He was a farmer and a member of the Sidney Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Leonard McElrath, Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Mary Cathleen Freeman McElrath of the home; one son, Charles Dixon of Milton, Florida; one daughter, Barbara Porter of Cave City; seven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 14th, 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City. Arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

D. C. Smith



D.C. Smith, 88, of Marmaduke passed away on Tuesday August 10, 2010 at the Walnut Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born on June 9, 1922, in Marmaduke to Frank and Norma Smith.

Mr. Smith owned a grocery store for many years and was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by a son, Keith Smith of Marmaduke; one sister, Mervena Reddick of Marmaduke; one niece and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by her parents; his wife, Garnetta; and a brother, Farrell Smith.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 13th, 10:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Rector, with Kim Bridges officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Heights Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at the Mitchell Funeral Home of Rector.

Hughie E. Lott

 

Hughie E. Lott, 81, of Paragould passed away August 11, 2010 at his son’s home in Martin, Michigan.
Hughie was born December 29, 1928 in Manila to John & Bertha (Allen) Lott. He was raised in Arkansas eventually moving to Martin, Michigan. He retired from Plainwell Paper Mill.
Hughie married Ruth Caperton, July 4, 1946, who preceded him in death on April 10, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his son Hughie W. Lott and 7 siblings.

Visitation will be Monday evening 6:00 until 9:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home where a Masonic service will be held Tuesday morning, August 17th, at 10:00 a.m.

Surviving members of Hughie’s family include his son and daughter-in-law Dan & Terri Lott, his grandchildren Shawn (Mark) Edwards, Stacie (Rob) Rees, Derek (Lori Warning) Lott, 6 great-grandchildren, his siblings Pauline, Lona Bell, Bill, Betty, LaVerne, Clara Faye, Dorothy and Wanda as well as numerous other relatives.

Bette Sue Textor
 


Bette Sue Textor, 80, of Paragould, passed away Thursday, August 12, 2010, at her home. She was born June 23, 1930, in Senath, Missouri to Cecil and Sybil Campbell Anderson. Mrs. Textor retired from Paragould City Light and Water, and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two sons, Morris Textor, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Paragould, and Kenneth Cook of Poplar Bluff; daughter-in-law, Judy Cook of Cardwell; six brothers, Roy Anderson of Piedmont, Missouri, Charles Anderson of Kennett, Jerry Anderson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Bob Anderson of Oregon, C. B. Anderson and Bill Anderson, both of Senath. She is also survived by six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Morris Textor, Sr.; one brother, Glen Edward Anderson; one sister, Frances Anderson; and one son, Dennis Cook.
Graveside services will be Monday, August 16th, 10:30 a.m., at Linwood Cemetery with Marc Reeves officiating.
Visitation will be Monday morning, 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould. The procession will leave Mitchell Funeral Home at 10:15 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Richard Wright, Todd Bradsher, Cody Davis, Brad Schuler, Hite Horner, and Zach Taylor. She was a wonderful mother, loved her grandchildren and was happiest when caring for them. She will be dearly missed.

John Thomas Dailey, 84, formerly of Jonesboro, passed away Thursday, August 12, 2010 in Hayti, Missouri.

Mr. Dailey was born November 17, 1925, he was a retired farmer and a resident of the Belle Meade Nursing Center in Paragould.

Thomas Henderson Faulkner


Thomas Henderson Faulkner, age 90, passed away August 13, 2010 at his home. Tom was born January 22, 1920 in Paragould, AR. he had lived in Jonesboro for the last 23 years and was of the Baptist religion.

During WW II Tom earned five Bronze Battle Stars for invasions and landings in Tunisia; Licata, Sicily; Salerno, Italy; Anzio, Italy; and Saint Raphael, France. Tom was a charter member of the National World War II Memorial in Washington DC and a member of the American Legion, the VFW, and the NRA.

Survivors include: his wife, Virginia Jackson Faulkner of the home; his son, William Hall Faulkner of Calhoun,LA; his daughter, Tommie Jean Faulkner of Jonesboro and her Godson, Michael Passmore of Dallas, TX. brother, William ‘Buck Faulkner of Batesville, sister, Maxine Standridge of Pleasant Plains, two granddaughters, Shannon Faulkner Rowton and Alisha Faulkner, one great granddaughter, Bailey Rowton. Tom was preceded in death by his father, Henderson Hall Faulkner, and his mother, Hazel Bryant Faulkner, both of Batesville, AR.

Graveside services will be Wednesday August 18th, 2:00 p.m. at Linwood Cemetery in Paragould, Arkansas with Max Alexander officiating. Emerson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements
Visitation will be Wednesday 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

Elwyn Dewayne Glenn



Elwyn Dewayne Glenn, 78, of Paragould passed away Sunday August 15, 2010 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould. He was retired from Emerson Electric and a member of the 7th and Mueller Church of Christ. Mr. Glenn was born August 21, 1931 to the family of Oscar and Dovie Wood Glenn.

Elwyn was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Glenn; his parents, and 3 brothers.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Teresa and Stan Rodgers and Peggy Douglas all of Paragould; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Diane Eddings of Paragould; sister, Francis Lamb of Paragould, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Franklin Elbert Wicker



Franklin (Frank) Elbert Wicker, 77, was born in Greene County, Arkansas August 8, 1933 and passed away at Belle Meade Nursing Center August 15, 2010. He was a member of Griffin Memorial United Methodist Church since 1968. He was raised in the Fontaine Community and served in the Army during the Korean War Era, 1953-55. He worked at Ed White Shoe Factory and Formost Dairy prior to opening Paragould’s First Athletic Sporting Goods Store in November 1974, “All-Star Sporting Goods” which he and Aletta owned until 1998.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Henry Cleave and Mamie Shamley Wicker; sisters, Rachel Killian, Julie Gambill and Dolly Wicker; brother Denver Wicker and half sister Delmar Smith and son-in-law, Danny Alvin Leisure.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Aletta Ruth Wicker of the home, son, Jerry Glen Wicker (Patty) of Maumelle, AR; daughters, Debbie Leisure of Paragould, Pam Diggs (Franklin) of Paragould, Cindy Tucker (Don) of Conway; brother, Cecile “Pete” Wicker of Hoxie, AR. Grandchildren, Brian Wicker, Josh Mitchell, Sarah Followell, Brandy Moody, Shae Murphy, Jessica Paul, Geoff Tucker, Jade Price and Jared Price. Great Grandchildren, Lacey and Jonathan Followell, Colton and Chloe Thomason, Kayla Wicker, Katelyn, Jacob and Jacklynn Price and a host of nieces and nephews.

Maryanne Boyd



Maryanne Boyd, 72, of Crown Point, Indiana, passed away on August 15, 2010 with her loving family by her side.

She was born May 26, 1938 in Wisconsin to the late Robert and Madelyn Bittman Berndt. She married Herschel Boyd on April 20, 1958 in Hernando, Mississippi, and from this union came 4 loving children. Maryanne was involved in the YMCA, the Crown Point Garden club, and the Red Hat Society. Mrs. Boyd enjoyed oil painting, sewing, baking, and spending time with her grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Herschel Boyd II.
She is survived by her loving husband, Herschel Boyd of Crown Point; daughters, Susan (Ben) Godsey of Illinois, Lynda (Daniel) Barton of Lowell, Bobbi (Rob Rooney) Boyd of Colorado; brothers, Robert (Walli) Berndt of California, Edward (Marie) Berndt of Wisconsin; and sister, Linda Tuttle of California, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, August 26th, 1:30 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould. Burial will follow in Clark’s Chapel Cemetery.

Verda Lee Eaker



Verda Lee Eaker, 66, of Paragould, passed away Monday, August 16, 2010 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. Born August 13, 1944 in Paragould, she was a homemaker and a member of Wood’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Eaker of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Tina Eaker; one daughter and son-in-law, Rex and Michele Nelson, all of Paragould; and her grandchildren, Tyler Parkinson, Taylor Parkinson, and Chase Nelson. Survivors also include two sisters and a brother-in-law, Betty Ann Brown of Tuckerman, Jonell and W. H. “Dub” Cole of Paragould; nieces and nephews, Patty Ann Baker, Keith Diggs, Mildred Fay Hall, Cathy Jo Mullins, Wesley Brown, Donald Cole, and Jackie Sue Hubbard. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Lona Diggs; and one brother, Charles Diggs.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening, 6:00 until 9:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Funeral services will be Thursday, August 19th, 10:30 a.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Dan Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Wood’s Chapel Cemetery.

Remington Cady Bleu Dulaney, 6-month-old daughter of Joe and Victoria Ward Dulaney, passed away Monday, August 16, 2010.

She was born February 8, 2010, in Paragould.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Della Mae Ward, Boyce Harold Dulaney and John and Cora Girard.

Survivors include her parents, Joe and Victoria Ward Dulaney of Alicia; a brother, Briton Ward of the home; paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Glenda Dulaney of Hoxie; maternal grandparents, Jerry Ward of Alicia and Leslie Burns of Tulsa, OK.; maternal great-grandfather, Lex Ward of Hoxie; and paternal great-grandparents, Jennie Dulaney of Portia, Joe Ferguson of Walnut Ridge and Joyce Hoffman of Paragould.

Graveside service will be Friday, August 20th, 10:00 a.m. with Alvin Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Markham Cemetery near Egypt with Bryan Funeral Home of Hoxie in charge.

Frank McMinn



Frank McMinn, 79, was born March 12, 1931, in Dell, AR. son of the late Louie and Ruby Manes McMinn, he passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould.
He married Eulva Johnson, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jackie Wimberly; a brother, R.L. McMinn and a sister, Hazel Rhody.


Survivors include his wife, Patsy Britt McMinn, of Cardwell, Mo.; two sons, Johnny F. McMinn and wife, Patricia, and Ricky McMinn and wife, Sherry, all of Arbyrd, Mo.; one daughter, Ronnie Hollis and husband, Freddie, of Arbyrd; three sisters, Mary Ransom and Faye Jones, both of Cardwell and Sue Frye, of Paragould; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be Friday, August 20th, 1:00 p.m. until service time at 3:00 p.m.

Graveside services will be held at the Lulu Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Ronnie Mansfield officiating.

Pallbearers are Mark McMinn, Scotty McMinn, Johnny McMinn, Kevin Woods, Kenny Bowles and Mitchell Flatt.

Gertrude Boone



Gertrude Hairrell Boone, 87, of Paragould, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2010 at St Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born October 7, 1922 in Waterloo, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Dora Webb Hairrell, son, Steven Boone, four brothers and one sister. She was a homemaker and a member of Florrisant Valley Baptist Church in Florrisant, MO.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years: Lloyd Boone, of the home; son and daughter-in-law: Bruce and Karyn Boone of Temecula, CA; brother and sister-in-law: Larry and Joyce Hairrell of Rockford, IL; sisters and brother-in-law: Bonnie and Paul Bean and Lorett Clark of Jonesboro; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday morning, 9:30 until 11:00 at Heath Colonial Chapel, Paragould. The celebration of her life will follow at Heath Colonial Chapel, Saturday, August21st, 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Paul Bean officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Robert Jerome Boyer
 


Robert Jerome Boyer, 66, went to be with the Lord Thursday, August 19, 2010. He was a former resident of Mission Outreach, but more recently Belle Meade and AMMC. Robert had care givers and friends throughout Paragould.
As a person who had lost contact with his family, Robert was reunited after 23 years with his family. He was a Marine veteran of the Vietnam War and had the occupation of a maritime welder. Robert was born in Tiff, Missouri, June 11, 1944, of parents Michael and Rose (Rulo) Boyer. Survivors include, brothers, Michael, Frank, Ronald, and Arthur, sisters, Anna Reehten and Donna Courtney.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 21st, 1:30 p.m. at Linwood Cemetery. An hour before services, visitation with his family will be at Center Hill First Baptist Church fellowship hall.

Troy E. Barlow, 84 of Paragould passed away Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould. Troy was born February 25, 1926 he was retired from Emerson Electric and a member of East Side Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Edgar and Ollie Malinda Montgomery Barlow; 2nd wife, Alpha Barlow; brothers, James and Galen Barlow.
Survivors include his wife, Nina Barlow of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Paula (David) Montalbano of Riverview, FL; step-sons, Bill Jarrett of Paragould and Herman (Brenda) Jarrett of Ft. Smith, AR; brothers, Joe Barlow of Plano, TX, Paul Barlow of St. Louis, MO and Welton Barlow of DeSoto, MO; sisters, Lorene Hathcock and Verneal Barlow both of St. Louis, MO., eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Margaret Ann Cox, 64, of Paragould, passed from this life Sunday August 22, 2010. She retired from Emerson Electric after 30 years. She was born October 10, 1945 in Blytheville, AR., to the late William and Marie Cox. Margaret was a devout Christian and member of the Baptist church.

Survivors include a brother, Daniel Cox of Cardwell, MO and a sister, Danie Riddle of Palmersville, TN.

Frances Ann Morris, 74, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, August 23, 2010. She was born in Foreman, Arkansas September 19, 1935 and had lived in Paragould most of her life.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert “Bob” Morris; daughters, Sharon “Casey” Fisher of Orlando, FL., and Teressa (Brian) Duncan of Paragould. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jennifer Morris, Brady Duncan, and Tanner Duncan of Paragould and Nick Fisher of Orlando, FL., and one brother, Johnny Mack Morris.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny Morris and Frances C. Taylor; a brother, James O. Morris and her only son, Robert “Robbie” Morris.

Fran was an active member of East Side Baptist Church. She loved her Sunday School class and the Homebound Ministries Program. Her favorite hobbies were genealogy and visiting with friends.

Funeral services will be Thursday morning, August 26th, 10:00 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Jason Noel officiating. Burial will follow at Wood’s Chapel Cemetery.

Linda DaSilva Elmore, 78, of Paragould, passed away Monday, August 23, 2010at Ridgecrest Health and Rehab in Jonesboro. She was born October 1, 1931 in Mount Vernon, N.Y., the daughter of the late Joseph and Jessie Costa DaSilva She was also preceded in death by her son, Robert "Bobby" Elmore, and sister, Nori DaSilva. Linda was retired from Foremost Dairy and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband: William 'Bill" Elmore, of the home; son and daughter-in-law: David and Lisa Elmore; grandchildren: Sara and John Elmore, all of Benton; sister, Almira DaSilva of N.Y.

Her life will be celebrated Saturday, August 28th, 10:00 a.m. with graveside services at St. Mary's Cemetery with Deacon Rex Bouldin officiating. Miriam Verniece Cunningham, 85, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Gassville Nursing Center in Gassville, AR. She was born December 15, 1924 in Greene County AR., the daughter of the late Francis and Ida Roswell Craig. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Craig Campbell, brothers, Abe Smelser, Willard Smelser, Charlie Smelser, Luther Smelser, A.G. Earp, Elma (Cotton) Craig, Elza Craig, sisters, Aubrey Smelser Dickinson and Ethelene Wilson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband: Franklin Cunningham; son: Dane Cunningham of Paragould; daughters: Lynell Davis of Mountain Home, Dianne Cooper of Somerville, Tennessee; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Robert Earl Farmer



Robert Earl Farmer, 64 of Letona passed away August 24, 2010. Mr. Farmer was born November 9, 1945 in Marmaduke, AR., to the late Clyde Marcus and Marie Ola Farmer.

Mr. Farmer was a welder by trade and loved to be outside. Fishing was one of his favorite past times along with watching television.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Farmer is preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Farmer and Arlen Farmer; four sisters, Clestie Quinn, Mae Eckles, Betty Walls, and Ruthie Johnson.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 33 years, Carol Neighbours Farmer, sons, Kyle and Brandon Farmer of the home, and Frank Oden of Paragould; one daughter, Tina Sullins of Paragould; two brothers, Bob Farmer of Marmaduke, and Wade Farmer of Trumann; three sisters, Louise Farmer of Strawberry, Levonia Damon of Paragould, and Nora Farmer of Marmaduke; eight grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Friends and family of the Searcy area may visit the Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home Friday afternoon, August 27th, 12:00 noon until 4 p.m.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Effie Mae Shelton and her father, Eddie Bass.

Jewell Imogene Boozer, 83, of Paragould, passed away Tuesday, August, 24, 2010, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

She was born July 16, 1927, in Greene County, to Delbert and Bessie Robinson. Mrs. Boozer was a retired Belk’s sales associate, a member of First Baptist Church, and of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara and Charles Willis of Paragould, and Deborah Boozer Page of Jonesboro; and one brother, Virgil Robinson of Paragould. She is also survived by two grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Michael Hollis of Paragould, Tim and Dee Willis of Jackson, Mississippi; and four great grandchildren, Carleigh and Justin Hollis of Paragould, Tyler and Brock Willis of Jackson, Mississippi.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Boozer; and three brothers, Everett, Clifford and Owen Robinson.

Visitation will be Friday evening 6:00 until 8:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Graveside services will be Saturday, August 28th, 10:00 a.m. at Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Bill Steeger officiating. The procession will leave Mitchell Funeral Home at 9:45 a.m.

Maxine Crockett, 70, of Paragould, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2010, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Mrs. Crockett was born July 29, 1940, in Paragould, and retired from the dietary department of Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She was a member of Lake Street Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Lee Crockett of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Dena Crockett; one sister, Pauline Reeves; one grandson, James Morgan; and four great grandchildren, Clayton, Paige, Jalynn and Hunter Morgan, all of Paragould.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil Stanley Jones and Thelma Jones; and two daughters, Sue Ann Crockett and Anita Bounds.

Visitation will be Sunday evening, 6:00 until 9:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Imogene Owen

 

Imogene Owen, age 91 of Beech Grove, went to be with the Lord Friday, August 27, 2010. She passed away peacefully while being cared for in Michigan, where she was temporarily residing to be near family.

Visitation will be Monday 11:00 until 2:00 and 5:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 31st, 11:00 a.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with Kenneth Camp officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Owen was born Dora Imogene Eaker on February 21, 1919, in Greene County, AR., daughter of Grover C. and A. Victoria (Herrin) Eaker. She was a lifelong resident of Greene County, spending most of her years at her much-loved farm in Beech Grove. Paragould and all of Northeast Arkansas has always had her heart. She loved the land and she loved her friends and family who have lived there. Due to declining health, she was living in Michigan for the past year where family members could assist in her care. Imogene married William A. Owen in 1937, and he preceded her in death in 1968. She later married O. T. Reinhart, who passed away after many years together. Imogene was a member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ. She leaves many dear friends and loving members of the Eaker, Owen and Reinhart families in both Arkansas and Michigan. They are too numerous to name them all. She is also survived by the sons and daughters of hers sisters and brother; Frances Smith, Jacqueline Bodine, Norma Sellers, Phillip Cooper, Donald Poston, Ronald Poston, Michael Poston, Rita George, Sandra Owen, Gary Eaker and Vicki Stanley. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her sisters, Lavada Sellers, Wava Cooper and Ruby Poston, brother, George Eaker, and nephew Larry Poston, as well as many cousins and others members of her family.
The family wishes to thank two of her closest friends, Marvine Friar and Charles Partlow. Their kindness and help over the years is appreciated so very much.

Thomas Edgar Miller, 67, of Paragould, passed away Friday, August 27, 2010, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born June 24, 1943, in Greene County, Mr. Miller was a retired jeweler. He was a member of the Newton Street Church of Christ and of 7th and Mueller Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Claudette Miller of the home; two sons, Mark Miller of Fayetteville and Brad A. Miller of Searcy; three brothers, Wyman Miller of Springfield, MO., Gerald Gibson of DeSoto, MO., and Cloyce Gibson of Paragould; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hershel and Opal Miller.

Hazel Helen Hortense Toombs, 90, of Paragould, passed away August 27, 2010 in Jonesboro. Born October 17, 1919 in Cardwell, Missouri, she was a homemaker and member of the Methodist Church.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and J. D. Yates of Jonesboro, Linda and Jerry Terry of Paragould, and Karen and Jerry “Butch” Daniels of Paragould; two sisters, Lola Fayrene Riggs of Marion, Arkansas, and Bobbie Joy Hyde of Phoenix, Arizona; six grandchildren, Grayson Daniels of Stuttgart, Arkansas, Steve and Scott Crockett, both of Arkadelphia, Kim Crockett of Marion, and Stacey Jean Jackson and Danita Gibson, both of Paragould; five great grandchildren, Morgan Crockett of Paragould, her newest great grandchild, Kagen Hoyt Crockett of Arkadelphia, Misty Crockett Cobb of Arkadelphia, Nicholas Papachristou of Marion, and her namesake, Davis Charlton Gibson of Paragould; three step great grandchildren, Sarah Pollock and Kyle White, both of Arkadelphia, and Christopher Papachristou of Marion.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Arthur and Nanny Elizabeth Davis; her husband of 70 years, Herman Toombs who passed away in 2007; four brothers, Raymond “Bud”, Langdon Aaron, Billy Gene, and Johnny Parker Davis; two sisters, Ruth “Tootsie” Horrell, and Mildred Irene Greenway, and by one great grandson, Maxy Steven W. Crockett, who passed away July 4, 2009.

Marcie L. Price-Gibson, 81, of Paragould, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. She was born March 21, 1929 in Greene County, AR. the daughter of the late Eli and Josie Henson Felty. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Cleo Price, daughter, Ruthann Bowen, sister, Grace Bennett and grandson, Dale Bowen.
She was a volunteer for the Sr. Bees and made quilts for their fundraisers, she made lap quilts for the nursing homes and cancer caps for St. Jude's Children's Hospital and other cancer patients.

She is survived by daughters and son-in-law: Shirley Meersseman of White Lake Township, MI, Shelby & Danny Martin of Paragould; sisters: Alma Mohr, of Jonesboro, Van Pierce, Ruth Tindall; brother: Buck Felty all of Paragould, four grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

Willie Earl “Scottie” Scott, 83 of Paragould passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Willie was born April 23, 1927 to the family of Willie B. and Cora Morgan Scott. He was of the Baptist faith and retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Scott; daughter, Diane Jefferies; his parents, sisters, Mary Evelyn Purzycki, Barbara Rangel and Betty Lou Scott.
Survivors include a son, David Scott of Pensacola, FL., daughter, Frances of Pensacola, FL; sisters and brother-n-law, Robbie Brien (Joe) of Paragould, Ruby Risner of IL., Ann Freiner of Paragould and Janette Rushing of Malden, MO; brothers and sister-in-law, Dan Scott and Charles Scott (Erma) all of Paragould, and six grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, 12:00 noon until 1:15 p.m. prior to services at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 31st, 1:30 p.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with Rev. Kevin Edgar officiating. Burial will follow in Lorado Cemetery.

Reverend Jessie Barham

 

Reverend Jessie "Junior" Barham, 74, Paragould, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. He was born October 2, 1935 in Rector, the son of the late Jessie and Bertha Turner Barham. He was also preceded in death by his son, Dennis Barham. He was a carpenter and a member of End Time Full Gospel Church.

Survivors include his wife: Iva Jean Barham, of the home; daughter: Sandra Jean Albrecht, of Paragould; sons and daughters-in-law: Kenneth and Joyce Barham, of Paragould, Darrell and Wendy Barham of Jackson Center, OH; sister: Lillie Lyles of Rector, nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. His life will be celebrated Wednesday, September 1st, 10:00 a.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Bill Newman officiating. Interment will follow at Harvey's Chapel Cemetery, Marmaduke.

Darrel Gene Butler



Darrel Gene Butler, 72, of Paragould, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

An Air Force veteran, Mr. Butler was born January 10, 1938 in Greene County. He retired from Dr. Pepper and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include three daughters, Leslie Mitchell of Paragould, Hayley Gilleland of The Colony, Texas, Holly Beshiri of Dallas, Texas; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Thelma Butler.

A private family service will be held at a later date. No visitation is scheduled.

Carrie Elizabeth Colburn
 



Carrie Elizabeth Colburn, 42, of Paragould, passed away August 30, 2010, at Methodist Hospital, Paragould.

Born December 7, 1968, she was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ivarn and Mattie George and Carl and Trellis Colburn.

Survivors include two daughters, Chastity Henry and husband Cliff, and Rachel Giles; a son, Jared Giles and wife Suzanna; her parents, Darrell and Marilyn Colburn, Walnut Ridge; two sisters, Tammy Winfrey and Mendy Chambers; and five brothers, Tommy Colburn, Sammy Colburn, Matthew Colburn, Bobby Gates and a special brother, Mike Ozbun.

A memorial service will be held Friday at Main Street Church of Christ with Rob Combs officiating.

Florence Varvil

 

Mrs. Florence M. Varvil passed away August 30, 2010. She was born August 11, 1920, in Pickensville, AL., to Clinton and Beulah Dorsett, Paragould, AR.

She married Paul M. Varvil, April 29, 1939. She worked many years at Graber’s Department Store and the Paragould Methodist Hospital until she retired.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, three brothers, William, James, and Thomas.

She is survived by her two daughters, Paula (Terry) Wowk, Saskatoon, SK, Canada and Patricia (Jim) Russell of Cotter, AR., her sister Maxine Myers, Olive Grove, MS., a brother Ralph, Dallas, TX., three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Florence liked visiting with family and friends. She had been a member at the Southwest Church of Christ, Brother’s Keepers, and the Teddy Bear Ladies Organization in Jonesboro. She was a wonderful cook, she had a great sense of humor, and loved to play Uno with her friends.

Visitation will be Friday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 4th, 10:30 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Chapel, with Winston Burton officiating. Burial will be in Paragould Memorial Gardens, following services.

Leo Cross
 


Leo Cross, 80, of Paragould, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. He was born May 5, 1930 in Randolph County, AR., the son of the late Fred and Mable Weitkamp Cross. He was also preceded in death by one brother and one grandson, Bryan Cross.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Loree Crabtree Cross; children: Danny and Merry Lee Cross of Greenville, Ohio; Brenda and Larry Singleton, Jerry and Debbie Cross, Tom and Cindy Cross and Tim and Lisa Cross, all of Paragould; grandchildren: Todd and Tracy Singleton, Jonathan Singleton, Matthew and Molly Cross, Timmy LB Cross and Kimberly Cross; great grandchildren, Kyle and Courtney Singleton and Jude Cross and numerous family and friends.

Mr. Cross was the founder of Cross Custom Siding, an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener who dearly loved his family.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening 5:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. His life will be celebrated Thursday September 2nd, 10:00 a.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel, with Reverend Marc Reeves and Reverend J.W. Gibbs officiating.
