Willodean Cothren



Willodean Lenderman Cothren went home to be with her Lord on August 1, 2006. She was born December 1, 1938, at Big Rocks near Stanford. She was an active member of Walnut Corner General Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Laura Barrow Lenderman; one infant sister, Mildred Lenderman; one brother, Glen Lenderman; and one stepdaughter, Gloria Cothren.

She is survived by her husband, Earl Cothren; one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Janet Kidd of Paragould; three daughters, Diane Hardin of Jonesboro, Gala Stone and Laura Trammell of Paragould; nine grandchildren, Jerry Pentecost, Larissa Morgan, Shannon Kidd, Michael Bellah, Brent Stone, Jason Greer, Jennifer Maple, Clint Johnson and Brodie Stone; and seven great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Zachery, Sarah, Nykalis, Ceslee, Jordan and Candace.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Heath Colonial Chapel with the Revs. Bobby Wade and Jerry Pentecost officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Walcott.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. today in Heath Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Danny Lenderman, Roger Lenderman, Rick Lenderman, Larry Don Lenderman, Jerry Lee Lenderman and David Lee Pratt.

Memorials may be made to St. Bernard's Hospice.

Joseph E. Wood Sr.


Joseph Edward Wood, Sr., 36, was killed in an automobile accident near Paragould on Tuesday, August 1, 2006.

He is survived by his mother and step-father Carl and Barry Robinson of Rector; two children, Patricia Wood and Joseph Edward Wood, Jr. of Paragould; a sister, Amy Wood of Lainsburg, Mich.; and his grandmother, Dorothy Ellington of Marmaduke.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Wood; and an uncle.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 4, at 10 a.m., at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Marmaduke with Gail Benson officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, August 3, at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow at Harvey's Chapel Cemetery.

Tommy Hyde

 

Tommy Hyde, 78, born January 22, 1928, in Greene County, died August 2, 2006, of natural causes in Marion, Ill.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie Hyde and Ester Cox Hyde Roberson; a brother, Jack Hyde of Paragould; sister, Albertine Hyde Safley of McRae; twin half-brother and -sister, Johnnie and Bonnie Roberson; a nephew, W.M. Safley of Hot Springs; and sister-in-law, Taby Day Hyde of Paragould.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty Ross Hyde; four daughters: Fritzi Hyde Janes and husband, Mack Janes, both of Marion, Ill.; Pat Hyde Burns and husband, Jim Burns, both of Southgate, Mich.; Lana Dollins Golden and husband, Jerry Golden, of Lincoln Park, Mich.; Bonida Dollins Poynor and husband, Bob Poynor, both of Cardwell, Mo.; a son, Jay Dollins, and wife, Karen Dollins, of Paragould; one brother, Ronald Hyde, and wife, Grace, both of Fenton, Mich.; two sisters, Helen Conery of Pine Bluff and Frankie Butler of Aurora, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Joan Collins Ratton and Pat Ratton, both of Paragould; three grandsons: Tommy Mack Janes, D. Frank Golden and Brian Ross Poynor; six granddaughters: Alecia Burns Faber, Kristy Burns Exner, Kelly Golden Faber, Brooksie Poynor Felty, Dana Dollins Cox, Jodi Dollins Leeker; and eight great-grandchildren; seven nieces, 10 nephews, many great-nieces and -nephews, cousins and friends.

Mr. Hyde served in the Navy on the USS Blue.

Mr. Hyde was a member of the Boilermakers Local 169 of Detroit, and spent many years in this trade before moving to Cardwell, Mo.

He and Mrs. Hyde co-owned Mr. T's Riverside Auto Sales, Liquor Store and the Cardwell Country Club until his health failed and they sold their businesses.

Mr. Hyde spent the last years of his life in the care of his daughter, Fritzi Hyde Janes, and her husband, Mack Janes, both of Marion, Ill.

His church homes included St. Paul Lutheran at Trenton, Mich., and First United Methodist Church at Paragould

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Sunday in Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Gomez officiating.

Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Saturday in Heath Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Southern Illinois Hospice or CASA of Williamson County, P.O. Box 972, Marion, Ill.

Randal Franklin Floyd



Randal Franklin Floyd of Monette was born August, 22, 1942.

He passed away Wednesday, August, 2, 2006, at the age of 63.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Inez Floyd; and his father, Eldon Floyd.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Floyd of the home; one son, Barry Floyd and his wife Misty of Paragould; one daughter, Rhonda Davis and her husband Jeff Davis of Stillwater, Okla.; one brother, Larry Don Floyd of Poteau, Okla.; one sister, Vickie Payne of Gulf Shores, Ala.; three grandsons, Randy Floyd, Bobby Davis and Taylor Davis; two granddaughters, Desiree Floyd and Sierrah Floyd; and many friends.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Phillips Funeral Home-Center Hill Chapel at Paragould.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the Floyd home at 214 Stewart St. in Monette Friday evening from 6-9 p.m.

Stacy Jo Wineland Stacks



Stacy Jo Wineland Stacks, 29, died August 2, 2006, in St. Bernard's Medical Center at Jonesboro. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Paragould.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Stacks of Jonesboro; two daughters, Allison and Sarah Stacks, both of the home; two stepdaughters, Allya Stacks and Emily Stacks of Jonesboro; her mother, Alice Wineland of Paragould; five sisters, Pam Peterson of Sioux Falls, S.D., Kim Walsh of Memphis, and Sheila Hutcheson, Tina Hayes and Marcie Sparks, all of Paragould.

She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Joe Wineland.

Visitation will be noon Saturday in Phillips Funeral Home at Paragould.

The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel, with Richard Williams officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jim Hayes, Troy Sparks, Fred Walsh, Justin Hutcheson, Brett Hutcheson and Jeffrey Sparks. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Rachel Watkins Sims



Rachel Watkins Sims, 90, of Jonesboro died Thursday, August 3, 2006, in St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born in the Lorado community north of Jonesboro, Mrs. Sims lived most of her life in Jonesboro.

She was a retired cosmetologist and operated Rachel's Beauty Shop for 50 years.

Mrs. Sims was a charter member of Central Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for several years.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Louis Watkins; her second husband, Ervin Sims; her parents, Will and Sara Jennings Adams; and by the couple who raised her following the deaths of her parents, Jim and Verna Adams.

Survivors include three sons, Norris Watkins of Jonesboro, Jerry Watkins of Rogers and Dale Watkins of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; two stepsons, Bill Sims and Jerry Sims, both of Jonesboro; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Emerson Memorial Chapel at Jonesboro with Rex Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers include Jim Hardin, Hal Fields, Bill Sims, Jack McCann, David Watkins and Cleo Watkins Jr.

Visitation will be from 12:30-2 p.m. Saturday in Emerson Memorial Chapel.

Ruth A. Round



Ruth A Round, 86, of Paragould, died Thursday, August 3, 2006, at Paragould Nursing Center.
Born September 7, 1919, in Paragould, Mrs. Round was a homemaker and a member of Griffin Memorial United Methodist Church.


She is survived by one brother, Gerald Day of Paragould; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Round; her parents, Harry and Goldie Day; two brothers, Buck Day and Bill Day; and by three sisters, Taby Hyde, Susie Wilmot, and Helen Orleans.
A private memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

Thomas Woodrow Jones



Thomas Woodrow Jones, 90 of Rector died Thursday, August 3, 2006 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

Mr. Jones was born on June 11, 1916 in Sikeston, Missouri. He was a retired farm labor and a member of White Oak General Baptist Church.

Survivros include a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by: one brother: Clarence William Jones and four sisters: Bertha Cantrell, Lucille Moore, Rosa Lee Tolbert and Martha Webb.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Rector, with Marston Carpenter officiating, burial will follow in the William Cemetery in Corning, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Friday at the Mitchell Funeral Home, of Rector.

Charley Skimahorn



Charley Skimahorn, 68, of Pocahontas died Thursday, August 3, 2006, in Pocahontas, Randolph County Medical Center.

Mr. Skimahorn was born Jan. 5, 1938, at O'Kean, Arkansas.

On Jan. 1, 1992, he was married to Alice Cronkhite in Dyer, Indiana.

Mr. Skimahorn had retired from Thrall Car Manufacturing Co. in Chicago Heights, Ill.

He is survived by his wife, Alice of the home; two daughters, Judy Tincher of Imboden, and Teri Holebis of Hammond, Ind.; four brothers, Lloyd Skimahorn of Pocahontas, Bill Skimahorn of Imboden, and Jim and Roger Skimahorn, both of Delaplaine; four sisters, Mary Davies of Pocahontas, Louise Hipp of Griffith, Ind., Ruth Pardon and Jewel Lewis, both of Denver; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Higginbotham Chapel at Walnut Ridge.

Burial will follow in Morrow Cemetery at Beech Grove.

Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. today in Higginbotham Chapel

Imogene Dortch Causby



Imogene Dortch Causby, 74, of Euless, Texas, a loving wife, mother and grandmother passed through this earthly life to be with our Father in heaven, August 3, 2006.

She was born on April 5, 1932, in Marmaduke and graduated from Greene County High School in 1951 as valedictorian. She earned a degree in business and retired in 1994.

In 1954, she married Charles Causby Jr. and had a wonderful marriage. Their child, Rose, born in 1963, is married to Glenn Griggs. Imogene was blessed with three grandchildren: Andrea, Patrick and Alex. She cherished her husband, daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren and was actively involved in their lives in a compassionate meaningful way.

A devout Christian woman, she touched the lives of her friends and families, leaving a legacy of giving to others more than receiving gifts from others.

Ms. Causby is survived by her immediate family from Colleyville, Texas: Charles Causby, Rose Griggs, Glenn Griggs, Andrea Griggs, Patrick Griggs and Alex Griggs. Also, she is survived by her family of origin: J.W. Dortch and family of Paragould; Yvonne McDonald and family of Kennett, Mo.; and Larry Dortch and family of Paragould. She is also survived by husband's siblings and their families.

With respect to her wishes, she will be laid to rest in Marmaduke at Harvey's Chapel by her parents Noah and Vida Dortch of Paragould. Friends and family are invited to attend visitation services at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould on Sunday from 1:30-3:30 p.m. and graveside services with procession immediately following at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Johnny Bowers officiating.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be given in her memory to First Baptist Church of Grapevine, 301 East Texas St., Grapevine, Texas 76051.

Bruce Noblin


Bruce Noblin, 87, of Ferguson, Mo., died August 4, 2006, after a lengthy illness.
Born and raised near Light, he was a retired factory worker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Glenna Noblin; four sons, Tommy Noblin, Texas, Terry Noblin, California, and Bobby Noblin and David Noblin, both of St. Louis; a brother, Jack Noblin, St. Charles, Mo.; a sister, Charlene Andrews, Walnut Ridge; a sister-in-law, Aline Noblin, Paragould; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A memorial service was held Sunday evening in St. Louis.

Steve Earls



Steve Earls, 44, of Paragould, died Thursday, August 4, 2006.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Earls of Paragould; his daughter, Felicia Dawn Earls of Paragould; his son Derek Lee Earls of Marmaduke; two sisters, Karen Jones of Corning, and Sonia Kay of Florida; three brothers, Kevin Earls of Datto, Timmy Earls and Byron Earls both of Corning; his mother, Bennie Jean Earls of Corning; his best friend Raymond Denning of Paragould; and his ex-wife and mother of his children, Judy Jackson of Marmaduke.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 9, 2006, from noon until 2 p.m. at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at Hosea Cemetery in Knobel.

Velma Long Adkerson Haddock


Velma Long Adkerson Haddock, 89, of Kennett, died Tuesday, August 8, 2006, at Heritage Nursing Center, Kennett. Born October 9, 1916, in Rector, she was a retired cafeteria worker for Arbyrd and Cardwell Schools. Mrs. Haddock was a member of Seventh and Mueller Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Dwayne Adkerson of Glen Carbon, Illinois and Jim Adkerson of Kennett. She is also survived by one brother, J. W. Long of Paragould; three grandchildren, Teresa Dick of Flippin, Arkansas, Donya Adkerson of Edwardsville, Illinois, and Jama Adkerson of Kennett; four great grandchildren; and by two great great grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ann Long; her first husband, Edwin Adkerson; her second husband, Fort Haddock; eight brothers, and five sisters.
Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Thursday, at the Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 11th, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Larry McFadden officiating. Burial will follow in the Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Martha Wasella Rodgers



Martha Wasella Rodgers, 76, of Melbourne, formerly of Paragould, died August 9, 2006, in Pioneer Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was retired from Ely and Walker Shirt Factory and was of the Baptist belief.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Oda O'Brien Huckabee, and six brothers.

Survivors include her husband, Ernest Rodgers of Melbourne; sons, Donald Rodgers of Jordan, Jerry Rodgers of Springfield, Mo., Stanley Rogers and Steve Rodgers, both of Paragould; daughter, Ann Watson of Tuckerman; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Heath Colonial Chapel with Rev. Billy Joe Dowdy officiating.

Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m., Thursday in the funeral home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Curtis Ray Newsom




Curtis Ray Newsom, 80, of Paragould, died Wednesday, August 9, 2006, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Born September 29, 1925, in Paragould, he was a retired farmer and cattleman. Mr. Newsom was a deacon at Pine Knott Church of Christ.


Survivors include his wife, Alberta Newsom of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Barbara Newsom of Searcy; and one granddaughter, Julie Newsom of Little Rock. He is also survived by great nieces and great nephews, C. J. Smith, Maegan Smith, Jenna Smith and Tye Johnson.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Sabie Newsom; and by one daughter, Sharon Hoyt.
Visitation will be Friday from 6:00-9:00 p.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.


Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 12th, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Jody McFadden officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Knot Cemetery.

John Cassius Bulley

 

John Cassius Bulley, 89, of Rector,died August 9, 2006 in Paragould. He was born November 16, 1916 in Marine City, MI to Clarence and Louise Biscorner Bulley. He was a master welder for General Motors, and was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran. He was a Catholic. He is survived by his wife, Anne Marie Bulley; two daughters and a son-in-law, Fran and Tom Wagster of Rector, and Kay Kuehn of Canton, MI; a sister-in-law, Joan Bulley of Algonac, MI; a niece, Carol O'Brien of Algonac; his grandchildren; and his great-grandchildren. He preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Harold Bulley and his twin, Joseph Bulley. Burial at Woodland Heights Cemetery under the direction of Irby Funeral Home.

Margaret Louise Foshee



Margaret Louise Foshee, 76, of Paragould died Thursday, August 10, 2006, at her residence.

She was a member of Center Hill Church of Christ.

Mrs. Foshee was preceded in death by her husband, Ora Foshee; by one sister, Mildred West, and one brother, Kenneth West.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, William and Polly Foshee of Marmaduke, Stan and Dot Foshee of Paragould, and Wayne and Janet Foshee of Paragould; two daughters and sons-in-law, Minnetta and Gary Clayton of Jonesboro, and Edna and Bill Miller of Northbrook, Ill.; two sisters, Anna Foshee of Scio, N.Y., and Mary Ruth Goode of Everett, Wash.; one sister-in-law, Mabel West of Farmington, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Chris, Andrew and Carissa Foshee, Cameron, Brandon and Nick Clayton, Billy and Brad Miller; and two great-grandchildren, Skylee and Caden Clayton.

Visitation will be this Saturday from 1-3 p.m. in Phillips Funeral Home in Paragould. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel with J.T. Ashby officiating.

Mrs. Foshee's grandsons will serve as pallbearers, with Richard Yeazel as honorary pallbearer. There will be a private family burial.

Ann Bowlin Parnell




Ann Bowlin Parnell, 86, longtime resident of Paragould and Walcott, died Aug. 11, 2006 in Barnes Hospital at St. Louis. Born May 9, 1920 in Greene County, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, B Parnell; one son, Danny; her parents, Lon and Eva Bowlin; three brothers, James, Herbert and Hubert; and two sisters, Lurlene and Lorene.

Survivors include one son, Mike Parnell of St. Louis; one sister, Robbie Campbell of Paragould; two nephews, Jackie and Nick Campbell; and one niece, Jamie Bowlin Gibson.

A graveside service was held Sunday, Aug. 20, in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Walcott.

Blanche Elnora Metheny Conrad

Blanche Elnora Conrad, 84, of Cardwell, died August 10, 2008 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Born May 27, 1924 at Silverdale, Missouri, she was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
 

She is survived by her husband, Harold Conrad of Cardwell; one son, Glen H. Conrad of Cardwell; three brothers, Benny Metheny of Leachville, Arkansas, Larry Metheny of Kennett, Missouri, and Dennis Metheny of Washington, Missouri; two sisters, Betty Jo Mason of Columbia, Missouri and Sonja Hosman of Paragould; three grandchildren, Tonja Foster of Paragould, Scott Conrad Walker of Paragould, and Kemberly Conrad of Springfield, Missouri; five great grandchildren, Brandon Patterson of Paragould, Daniel Patterson of Paragould, Brittney Bertels of Elk Mont Alabama, Ruby Foster of Paragould, and Tosha Hendrix of Paragould; three great great grandchildren, Katie Patterson, Jerry Patterson, and Landen Patterson, all of Paragould; special friends, Chuck Qualls and his family of Hornersville, Missouri and Steve Albrecht of Manila, Arkansas.
 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Della Metheny; one daughter, Jerry Kay Walker; one sister, Patsy Metheny; two brothers, Jimmy and Perry Metheny.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 12, 1:30 P. M. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with David Flannery and Dwight Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Cardwell Cemetery.

Frances Margaret White




Frances Margaret White, 89, of Paragould, died August 12, 2006 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Born January 11, 1917 in Paragould, she was a retired bookkeeper for Ely and Walker and a charter member of Immanuel Baptist Church where she was church organist for thirty years.


She is survived by an uncle and aunt, Maurice and Catherine Holt of Paragould and two cousins, Reba Stansbury of Paragould and Bernice Richardson of Athens, Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Millard and Iola Foster, her husband, Adolphus White, and one sister, Dessie Kacprzycki.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 15th, 10:00 A. M. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dan Minton and Ray Bishop officiating.

Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. at the funeral home.

Patrick V. Diglia




Patrick V. Diglia died Saturday, August 12, 2006. He was a retired postal employee.

Survivors include his wife, Dean Diglia; sons, Ralph, James and John; brother, George; and sisters, Youlanda Diglio and Dorothy Vicari.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cemetery with Rev. Troy Mackey officiating. Visitation will be Monday 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Heath Funeral Home.

Velma Beadie LaBean



Velma Beadie (Edrington) LaBean, 77, of Paragould died Sunday, August 13, 2006, at St Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was a homemaker and of Baptist belief.

Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Joseph LaBean; parents, Silas Anthony and Beadie Adline Merritt Edrington; two sons, Richard Wayne Parker and Alan Dell LaBean; three brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol Watson of Paragould, Shirley Freeman of Leland, N.C., Faye Stevenson of Chesterfield, Mich., and Mary O. Frank Bee Walker


Frank Bee Walker, 92, of Paragould, died Sunday, August 13, 2006, at Rowland Nursing & Rehab Center, Rowlett, Texas. Born November 12, 1913, in Paragould, Mr. Walker was a machinist and of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Lessie Walker of Dallas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Sid O’Hara of Dallas, and Janice and Richard Bullock of Longview, Washington. He is also survived by one brother, Ellis Walker of Dearborn, Michigan; five grandchildren; and by three great grandchildren.


A graveside funeral service will be conducted 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 29th, at Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Michael Sutton officiating. Jerry Wayne Ellison


Jerry Wayne Ellison, 61, of Paragould, died Monday, August 14, 2006 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. A Marine veteran of Vietnam, Mr. Ellison was born August 2, 1945, at Cherry Valley. He was employed by Darling Store Fixtures.

Survivors include three sisters, Cora Mae Girard of Jonesboro, Virginia Ham of Walnut Ridge, and Lavern Birmingham of Flint, Michigan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and by Fred, his pet bird.


He was preceded in death by his father, Harrison Ellison; his mother, Vlaskey Howard; and four brothers, William, Harry, David, and Buford Ellison.

Hison 'Buddy' Boswell



Buddy Boswell, 75, passed from this life on August 14, 2006, at his residence in Marmaduke.

He was born June 3, 1931, to the late Oliver Boswell and Ina Boswell Minick. After retirement from the Atlas Asphalt, he enjoyed working with his gravel truck and backhoe.

He was survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Boswell; two sons, Terry Boswell and wife Mary of Marmaduke and Jeff Boswell and wife Tina of Marmaduke; one daughter, Kathie Martin and husband Jimmy of Marmaduke; one brother, Troy Boswell of Tennessee; two half brothers, Hershel Minick and Charles Minick of Tennessee; a host of stepbrothers; one sister, Viola Bogan of Paragould; four half sisters, Wanda Leach, Linda Davis, Mary Brown and Sherron Minick of Tennessee; a host of step-sisters; 11 grandchildren, Teresa Parrish, Donnie Clayton, Stacy Potter, Tracy Clayton, Spencer Boswell, Angela Weatherford, T.J. Boswell, Steven Boswell, Joseph Boswell, Andrew Boswell and Margaret Nicely; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of family and friends.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Marmaduke.

Donnie Clayton, Truman Wycoff, Doyle Householder and Bill Nunally will be officiating.

Burial will be at Providence Chapel near Marmaduke.

Oma Elzora Dunham



Oma Elzora Dunham, 88, of Paragould, died Wednesday, August 16, 2006, at Glenwood Convalescent Center, Florence, Alabama. Born March 4, 1918, in Kansas City, Missouri, Mrs. Dunham was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.


Survivors include one son, Carrol D. Dunham of Florence, Alabama; three sisters, Wanda Chappell and Nina Gramling, both of Jonesboro, and Mary DePriest of Paragould. She is also survived by one grandchild; and four great grandchildren.
Mrs. Dunham was preceded in death by her parents, William and Pearl Tenison; one son, Sherrell Dunham; one brother, C. D. Tenison; and by two sisters, Glenda Eggars and Ozella Tenison.


Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 19th, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould, with Dennis Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00, Friday evening at Mitchell Funeral Home.

Leonard "Buddy" White, 78, of Paragould died Friday, August 18, in Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

He was a member of New Haven Baptist Church and a retired brick layer.

Pauline Jaques, 86, of Paragould, died August 19, 2006 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Born March 19, 1920 in Clay County, she was a homemaker and was of the Pentecostal faith.
She is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Raetta Jaques, William and Wanda Jaques, Billy and Tammy Jaques, and Terry Jaques, all of Paragould, and Eddie Jaques of Little Rock; five daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn and George Cord of Silver Springs, Florida, Brenda and David Mathis of Paragould, Thelma Crouch of Paragould, Carolyn and Mike Sanders, and Barbara and Jack Hailey of Paragould; one brother, Donald Hefner of Piedmont, Missouri, thirty-two grandchildren, fifty one great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Emma Hefner, her husband, Arnold Jaques, three brothers, three sisters, and seven grandchildren.

Goldie Debbie Garner, 97, of Paragould died Saturday, August 19, in Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal belief.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Garner; parents, Dee and Dora Brown Box; brothers, John, Monroe and Odell Box; sister, Della Cooper; grandsons, Randy and Mark Spain; and great-grandson, Matthew Shipman.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Estel and Marcus Spain, Clara and Jimmie Cone and Janet and Dub Clements, all of Paragould; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; special niece, Wilma Cooper of Paragould; and several nieces and nephews.

Donald Lewis Williams, 88, of Rector, died Sunday, August 20, 2006, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Born July 27, 1918, in Rector, he was a retired carpenter and a member of First Baptist Church, Rector.
Survivors include four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ellen and J. R. Edwards, Viola and Thelbert Stephens, all of Paragould, Flora Merchant of Tomah, Wisconsin, and Delorice Stewart of De Bary, Florida. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Roberta Textor, Violet Rust, and Betty Textor; and by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Louise Textor Williams; his parents, Mannie and Ruth Williams; one brother, James Williams; two sisters, Juanita Hicks and Martha Chambers.

Mrs. David (Mathel) Quail, age 86, of Paragould, died Sunday evening, August 20, 2006, at her home. She was born December 22, 1919, in Paragould and was co-operator of Sugar ‘N’ Spice Gifts and Accessories. Mrs. Quail was a member of Second and Walnut Church of Christ, a former homeroom mother, scout leader and a gourmet dessert maker.


She was preceded in death by her parents, W. A. and Maybelle Jenkins; her husband, David Quail; and by a sister and brother-in-law, Delois and Richard Mitchell.


Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, David Mark and Lena Quail; and two daughters, Mary Ann Washington and Dr. Nanette Quail Gunn, all of Paragould. Inez Lamb Baker



Inez Lamb Baker, 89, longtime resident of Paragould, died August 20 in Rolling Hills Nursing Home at Batesville.

She was born March 28, 1917, at Bono to the late Maude and John Lamb.

She was a registered nurse, graduating from St. Bernard's Hospital School of Nursing at Jonesboro.

Inez married Clark M. Baker on Oct. 17, 1941, moving to Little Rock where he continued his education and graduated from the University of Arkansas Medical School.

Following World War II, they made their home in Paragould where they served the community through his family medical practice of 41 years.

Inez was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling through the years.

Following her husband's death in 2000, Inez continued to reside in Paragould.

In 2005 she moved to Batesville to be near her son and daughter-in-law.

Survivors include her children, Dr. J. R. Baker and wife Wanette of Batesville; Dr. C. Murl Baker Jr. and wife Concetta of Springdale; her brother, Robert Lamb of Kennett, Mo.; six grandchildren, Erica Baker of Kansas City, Andrea Baker of Tulsa, Okla., Clark Baker of Fayetteville, Dr. Mark Baker of Tampa, Fla., Krista Baker Scheyer of Potomac Falls, Va.; and Katherine Baker of Atlanta.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday in Heath Funeral Home.

Graveside service is 10 a.m. Saturday in Linwood Cemetery, officiated by a longtime friend, Dr. Hap Hazzard.

Delray Johnson



Delray Johnson, 45, of Paragould, died Sunday, August 20, 2006, at his home. A construction worker, he was born August 4, 1961, in LaPorte, Indiana.

 
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann Johnson of the home; one daughter, Melissa Johnson of Paragould; four brothers, Larry Johnson of Paragould, Greg, Mark and Michael Johnson, all of Florida; one sister, Velma Johnson of Connecticut and two grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Loretta Johnson; and by a brother, Ricky Lee Johnson.

Harold Riggan, Sr.



Mr. Harold Riggan, Sr., 90, of Corning, died August 21, 2006, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. He was owner of Corning Implement Company and had been a John Deere Dealer since 1948. He served in the United States Army during World War II and had received a Bronze Star. He was a member of the Corning Masonic Lodge #719, and a member of First United Methodist Church in Corning.

Harold Riggan was united in marriage to Clydruth (Carlley) Riggan on Dec. 14, 1941. She preceded him in death, June 10, 2005.

Survivors include one son, Harold “Blue” Riggan, Jr. and wife Kathryn of Corning; two grandsons, Kody Riggan and wife Carla of Paragould, and Russell Riggan and wife Missy, of Kirkwood, Mo.; and four great-grandchildren, Carson, Cade, Will and Carlley Riggan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clydruth; his parents, Leonard L. and Gertrude Riggan; a brother, Herbert Riggan; and an infant brother.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 23, from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 2 p.m. at the Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. Rec. Larry Hughes will officiate. Interment will follow in the Corning Cemetery.

Lorene McDaniel, 98, of Paragould, died Wednesday, August 23, 2006, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Born August 15, 1908, in Paragould, she was a retired waitress. Mrs. McDaniel was a member of First Baptist Church for over fifty years.


Survivors include two daughters, Roberta Parkinson and her husband, Gene, and Jean Crossno, all of Paragould. She is also survived by three grandchildren and their spouses, Kim (Jeff) Hollister, Stacy (Britt) Camp, and Kevin Crossno; and by four great grandchildren, Whitney Hardin, Price Hardin, Tanner Hollister and Jayce Hollister.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. McDaniel; and by one sister, Mary Lee Sims.

Lucy Francis Pollock, 88, of Walnut Ridge, formerly of Bono, died Wednesday, August 23, in Lawrence Memorial Hospital at Walnut Ridge.

She was born on August 17, 1918, in Lawrence County, the daughter of Exzeb and Christy Davis Rosselott. She was united in marriage to Ernest Pollock on June 15, 1937 in Greene County. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Arlin Pollock of Walnut Corner and Charles Dean Pollock of Walcott; 10 grandchildren, Terry, Gary, Rickey and Jimmy Pollock, Connie, Clifford, and Angela Watson, Belinda Crawford, Phillip Pollock, Sarah Slater and Tim Pollock; 23 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Opal Christine Caldwell, 85, of Mountain Home passed away Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, at Mountain Home.

She was born Oct. 3, 1920, in Leachville to the late Thomas Jefferson and Mary Jane (Johnson) Wallace.

Mrs. Caldwell married Cecil Caldwell on Oct. 5, 1940, at Imboden. He preceded her in death May 19, 1998.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Mountain Home.

Mrs. Caldwell is survived by one son, Thomas A. Caldwell and wife Jo of Mountain Home; two grandchildren, Edward C. Caldwell and wife Lisa of Sherwood and Donna C. Caldwell-Chaffin and husband Clark of Joplin, Mo.; and three great-grandchildren, Claire C. Caldwell of Sherwood, Lauren E. Chaffin of Joplin and Andrew C. Chaffin of Greenwood.

She was preceded in death by one sister.

Jagger Kole Fletcher, of Paragould, passed away Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, in Cardinal Glennon Hospital at St. Louis.

He was born Aug. 7, 2006, at St. Louis.

Mrs. Priscilla Green Hicks, 92, of Dyersburg, Tenn., formerly of Paragould, passed away Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, at Oakwood Community Living Center in Dyersburg. Graveside services were Monday at Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould. She is survived by her son, Kenneth Hicks of Rockaway Beach, Ore.

Jay Cletis Bounds



Jay Cletis Bounds, 64, of Paragould, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006.

Mr. Bounds was of the Pentecostal faith, and was preceded in death by his wife, Katrinka Story Bounds, parents Shirl and Wilma Bounds, brothers Doyle and Clifford, and sister Pauline "Penny" Oglesby.

He is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Phyllis Bounds, and C. S. and Danice Bounds, all of Marmaduke; sister, Pat Mangrum of Bay; sister and brother-in-law, Leveda and Billy Keaton of Jonesboro; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in Phillips Funeral Home in Paragould.

There will be a graveside service 10 a.m. Wednesday in Hartsoe Cemetery near Marmaduke with the procession leaving the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Carter Grindstaff will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Bounds, Brent Oglesby, Randy Bounds, Tyler Bounds, Harry McMillin and Louis Bounds.

George W. Hyde



George W. Hyde, 97, of Paragould, passed away Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006.

During his younger days, Mr. Hyde lived in the Finch area but had spent most of his adult life in the Coffman community. He was a faithful member of the Mulberry Church of Christ, having served as an elder for many years.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Dairl and Brenda Hyde of Paragould; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen and Doyle Johnson of Paragould, and Evelyn and Gerald Bolin of Cherokee Village. He is also survived by four grandsons, Archie Johnson and Bart Hyde of Paragould, Brad Hyde of Jonesboro and Mark Johnson of Batesville. Four granddaughters also survive their Pawpaw including, Jeannie Dunn and Teresa Bolin of Jonesboro, Diane Culver of Paragould and Kim Tippy of Imboden; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Iris Cameron of Florida and Dora Shrader of Paragould.

Mr. Hyde was preceded in death by his wife, Rowan; his granddaughter, Janet Millet; four brothers, Lender, Bill, Woodwork and Lesser Hyde; two sisters, Loa Sibs and Ruth Carpenter; and his parents, Charlie and Lura Hyde.

Visitation for Mr. Hyde will be in Heath Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m. today.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Heath Colonial Chapel conducted by Weldon Parkinson. Burial will follow in Finch Cemetery with his grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Donald Eugene Davenport



Donald Eugene Davenport, 68, of Paragould, died Sunday, Aug. 27, in St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born at Brookland, he lived at Pontiac, Mich., for 33 years. He was a retired employee of General Motors in Pontiac where he worked 33 years. He then transferred to Memphis for two years.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Rice Davenport of the home; three sons, Jerry Davenport of Brookland, and Larry Davenport and Donald Gene Davenport, both of Paragould; one sister, Maxine Davenport of Brookland; six granddaughters; five grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hile and Gertie Davenport; one brother, H.D. Davenport; and one sister, Lola Mae Davenport.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Roller-Farmers Union Chapel with Charles Abanathy and Breck Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Mike Milligan, Ed Bennett, Terry Moore, Richard Story, Kevin Breckenridge and Muriel Couch.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Johnny Mack Crofford



Johnny Mack Crofford, 66, of Forrest City, Arkansas died Aug. 28, 2006.

Born Oct. 22, 1939, at Paragould, he was the son of Noel Crofford and Enid Steele Crofford.

He worked for AP&L, was a Mason and a member of Faith Baptist Church.

Mr. Crofford married Bonnie Sullinger Crofford in 1957.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Robbin Crofford, Teri Immel, and Allison Bray, all of Jonesboro; sister, Nickie Brown of Jonesboro; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Stevens Funeral Home with Gary Woodard officiating.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Jerry Huffstutler



Jerry Huffstutler, 64, of Paragould died Aug. 29, 2006, in NEA Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Vinnie Huffstutler; a brother, Denny Huffstutler; and a sister, Euba Hardin.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Lynne of the home; three sons, Jerry, Nathan and Daniel; a daughter, Rebecca; two brothers, Dewayne and Paul Huffstutler; three sisters, Gloria Riney, Joyce Louis and Janice Mitchell; eight grandchildren; the mother of his children, Lillie Huffstutler.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Irby Funeral Home Chapel at Rector. Rudy Burrow will officiate.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. today.

Steve Everett


Steve Everett, 56, a lifelong resident of Paragould, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006, at the Northeast Arkansas Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Mary Alice Everett.

He is survived by his constant loving companion Rhonda, and godchild Leanna Ingram; two brothers, Bobby Everett, Jr. and wife Yvonne of Paragould, and Roger Everett and wife Cindy of Pocahontas; one sister, Suzanne Everett of Paragould; two nephews and two nieces and their families.

Visitation is at Heath Funeral Home, Thursday, Aug. 31, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. followed by a procession to Pruetts Chapel Cemetery for a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Todd Harvey will officiate.

Olive Janette Beadles


Olive Janette Beadles, 92, of Winnsboro, Texas, formerly of Paragould, died Wednesday, August 30, 2006, at Winnsboro.
Mrs. Beadles was born January 5, 1914, in Govilin, Wales, United Kingdom. At the age of 9, she moved to the United States with her parents, William and Louise Whitney. She graduated as an RN from John C. Proctor Hospital in Peoria, Illinois. A resident of Paragould for forty years, some may remember her as Dr. O. E. Bradsher’s nurse. She was a member of Griffin Memorial United Methodist Church.
For the past sixteen years Mrs. Beadles had been living in Texas with her stepdaughter, Doris Beadles Miller.

 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Courtney Beadles, and her daughter, Rebecca L. Beadles.
She is survived by Doris and Gene Miller, their family and various nephews and nieces.


Visitation will be Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 2nd, at Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The procession will leave Mitchell Funeral Home at 10:45 a.m., Saturday.

Barbara Cothren Bruick


Barbara Cothren Bruick passed away Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, after a long battle with lung cancer.

She was born Oct. 21, 1938, in Paragould; After living in Conway, Ark. for several years, she met her husband Joe and they moved to Texarkana in 1961.

Barbara and her husband, Joe, raised their family in Texarkana, Ark. She was a kindergarten teacher with her mother for many years. She later worked at Meadowbrook Independent Living Center, and later in the bookkeeping department of Miller Bowie Supply.

She was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church where she was once coordinator of Religion Education classes. She was a very gifted teacher of religion. She worked with her husband with the Little Rock Catholic Cursillo team where she was rector for two of the women's cursillo. She and her husband were team members of the Subiaco Marriage Encounter . She also worked with her husband in coordinating the PRE-CANA marriage preparation program for 10 years at St. Edward's Catholic Church.

Currently she was co-director of the RCIA Catholic formation team. She was a part of this team for 25 years. She was always a teammate with her husband especially after he was ordained a permanent deacon in 1993.

Mrs. Bruick is preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Vaudean Cothren, and two brothers; Michael and Jerry Dale Cothren.

In addition to her husband of 46 years, she is survived by two sons and their wives, Larry and Lori Bruick of Danville, PA and Bob and Gloria Bruick of Albuquerque, N.M.; one daughter and her husband, Marsha and Ron Meyers of Little Rock; one brother and sister-in-law, Jasper and Reba Cothren of Searcy, Ark; three sisters and their husbands, Marcia and Charles Crisco of Texarkana, Joan and Bill Pike of Magnolia, Ark. and Sharon and Bob Ueckert of Texarkana; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Thomas, Jessi, Noah, and Nick, and numerous other family and friends.

Barbara was truly an example of love and a woman of faith. Her memory will continue to inspire all the lives she has touched.


There will be a prayer and eulogy service Friday evening at 6 p.m. at St. Edward's Catholic Church followed by visitation at 7 p.m. in the church. Mass of christian burial will be Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at St. Edward's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of East Funeral Home - Downtown.

The family will be at the family home at #10 N. Hermitage, Texarkana. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to St. Edward's Catholic Church. Family and friends may send tributes to www.mem.com

Louise Edrington


You are invited to the Celebration of Life service for Louise Edrington at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 3rd, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould, with Edward Warren officiating.


Louise Taylor was born September 6, 1924, in Lafe, and went to be with Jesus, August 31, 2006, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. She married Donald F. Edrington in 1952, and moved to Flint, Michigan. Mrs. Edrington was a waitress at Bob’s Diner in Flint. She was a community service volunteer for many years serving at the local hospitals and the Flint Red Cross.


Survivors include her sons, Milford Gebhart of Bluff City, Tennessee; Chuck Gebhart and wife, Dottie, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and Bill Edrington and wife, Patty, of Flint, Michigan. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Mildred Westbrook of Paragould; grandchildren, Susie, Steve (Angela), Melissa, Kyle Lee, Kelly Ann, Rachel Marie, and by four great grandchildren, Helenah, Stephen, DJ and James.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Edrington; her mother, Daisy Taylor; brothers and sisters, Elmer, Everett, Lucille, and Opal.


Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00-9:00 p.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
