Dora Webbe

 


Dora Webbe, age 98 of Walnut Ridge, formerly of Light and Little Rock, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Born May 11, 1910 in Walcott, Mrs. Webbe was retired from Baptist Hospital in Little Rock as a nurse.
In her early years, she and her husband farmed and raised a family in Greene County in the Light community and were members of the Light Baptist Church.
The family moved to Little Rock in 1957 and lived there until 2001. While in Little Rock she was a member of the Archview Baptist Church. She moved to Walnut Ridge in 2001.
Dora was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Leo Webbe; sons, James, Buford and William Webbe, parents, William J. and Emma Jones Butler; son-in-law William M. Dickson; grandson-in-law, Jerry Danniel Taylor; grandsons, James Celige Dickson and Raymond Dickson. 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Survivors include, son & daughter-in-law, Alvin and Ann Webbe of Walnut Ridge, daughters and son-in-law, Louise Dickson of Hardy, AR and Sandra and Donald York of Jonesboro. daughters-in-law, Lena Jean Webbe of St. Louis and Jeane Webbe of Jonesboro; numerous nieces and nephews. 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 4th, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Rev. Tommy Toombs and Bro. Joel McMasters officiating.
Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Virginia Shelton



Virginia Shelton, age 75, of Ravenden, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2009, at her residence.
Born August 24, 1933, in Bunny, AR., she had lived the past five years in Ravenden, but resided most of her life in the Light community. She was retired from General Electric in Jonesboro, and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Lora and Jeff Chalpan of Atlanta, GA., Shirley and Russell Leath of Dallas, TX., Lisa and Bob Phillips of Ravenden, and Shelia Thomazine and Terry Millay of Paragould. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Grayson Shelton and his wife, Staci, of Little Rock, Riley, Sadie, and Colton Millay all of Paragould; and by two sisters, Imogene Jordan of Jonesboro, and Sarah Jeans of Bono.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Shelton; her parents, Ferd and Elsie West; and by two brothers, J. R. West and Milburn “Pap” West.

Visitation will be Saturday from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 5th, at Mt. Zion Cemetery. The procession will leave Mitchell Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m.

Russell Leath, Steve Leath, Jeff Chalpan, Bob Phillips, Terry Millay and Eddie Price will serve as pallbearers.

Pauline Proffer Brothers
 



Pauline “Moo” Proffer Brothers, age 96, of Cabot, passed away Friday, April 3, 2009, at the Cabot Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born November, 15, 1912, in Harrisburg, IL to the late Thomas Sylvester Proffer and Nellie Mae Blackman Proffer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William H. “Howdy” Brothers, her sister, Thomza Mae Blackman Roberts and a nephew, Michael Roberts.

Mrs. Brothers was a former Registered Nurse, receiving her training at Missouri Baptist Hospital, in St. Louis. In 1942, she moved to Paragould, where she worked for many years at Community Methodist Hospital and was a member of First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her only child, Jane Brothers Emmert and husband Mike Emmert, of Cabot, grandchildren Julie Passmore and husband Eddie, and Mindy Emmert, of Cabot. She also leaves six great grandchildren, Jack Bowles, Natalie Emmert, Triston Passmore, Cameron Passmore, Polly Quinn Bowles, Lacey Passmore and a nephew, Jim Roberts, all of Cabot.
Graveside funeral services will be Monday, April 6, 11:00 a.m. at Greene County Memorial Gardens with Rev. Kevin Scarberough officiating. Visitation will be Monday, 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the ALS Association or to the ASPCA. The family would like to thank all of those who have been so kind during Mrs. Brothers illness.

Tony Anthony Wilson



Tony Anthony Wilson age 33, of Paragould departed this life Friday evening, April 3, 2009.

Tony was born September 2, 1975, at Kennett, MO. He was a graduate of Nettleton High School and was a forklift driver for Anchor Packing Co. at Marmaduke.
He was of the Baptist faith and was a loving son, wonderful husband and a devoted father. Nothing brought more joy to him than spending time with his family. He married Heather Bates on September 17, 2005, and they enjoyed a short, but wonderful, four years together.

He is survived by his wife, Heather Wilson of the home; two sons, Dalton Wilson and Camden Wilson; one stepdaughter, Kaylee Mitchell, all of the home; his parents, Danny and Mary Dillinger of Greenfield; his grandmother, Jeffie Dillinger of Greenfield; and numerous aunts, uncles and other loving family members.

Funeral services are to be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 7th in the Weston Funeral Service Chapel at Harrisburg with the Rev. John Medlock officiating. Interment will follow in Bolivar Cemetery under the direction of Weston Funeral Service of Harrisburg.

David Montgomery, Shawn Fortson, Jamie Harrellson, Timmy Ward, Danny Ward and David Friend will serve as pallbearers. His co-workers at Anchor will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Monday evening, 6:00 until 8:00.

Tony enjoyed life to the fullest, and although he was in our lives for only a brief while, he will remain in our hearts forever.

Marjorie Zoe Pace



Marjorie Zoe Smith Pace, age 85 of Paragould passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Greene Acres Nursing Home.
Born June 16, 1923, Marge retired after 34 years from the Greene County Agriculture Extension Service as a secretary. She was a former member of the Greene County Democratic Central Committee, and a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Willis Pace, parents, Terry Lee and Inathe Swihart Smith; brothers, Alfred, Bobby and Dickey Lee Smith; sisters, Nancy and Helen Smith.
Survivors include: sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Cherye Pace of St. Augustine, FL., Dick and Beth Pace of Paragould; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry and Marilyn Smith of Leesburg, FL., Gerald (Buddy) and Kay Smith of Hopkinsville, KY., and Betty Smith of North Little Rock, AR.
Grandsons and spouses, David and Laura Pace of Boone, N.C., Scott and Anne Pace of Little Rock, AR, Stephen Pace and fiancé Brandy Lamb of Paragould.
Great grandsons, Cole and Oren Pace of Boone, N.C., and Tyler Cope of Paragould. Several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Heath Funeral Home, Paragould. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 8th at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Revs. Tom Letchworth, Zach Roberts and Allen Crum officiating.
Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Methodist Children’s Home, American Cancer Society or the Alzheimers Foundation.

Roxie Flora Bell Arnold




Roxie Flora Bell Arnold, age 85, of Paragould passed away Monday, April 6, 2009 at Greene Acres Nursing Center. She was born November 10, 1923 in Stanford, AR., the daughter of Melvin and Hettie Bell Smith Busby. She worked as a caregiver for the Children's Home of Paragould and was a member of Seventh & Mueller Church Of Christ.
Mrs. Arnold was preceded in death by her husband, Athen Esteen Arnold, her parents, and one brother, Charles Busby.

Survivors include two daughters, Janis Weaks and Judith Arnold Bettis of Paragould; two sons, Stanley Arnold of Jonesboro and Keith Arnold of Bend, OR., three sisters, Mary Alice Morris of Little Rock, Margie Ruth Akins of Paragould and Hester Ann Diffin of Durand, MI., four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April10th at 1:00 p.m. at the Heath Colonial Chapel with L. R. Smith and Larry McFadden. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday, 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Heath Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Earl Smith, Owen Randles, Logan Bettis, Dustin Griggs, Tommy Griggs and Steve Goins. Honorary Pallbearer, Marvin Weaks.

Beulah Groves

 
Beulah Groves, formerly of Paragould, passed away April 7, 2009 at the age of 90 in St. Louis, MO.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Howard M. Groves, her parents James and Lillian (Alvey) Carroll, brother Henry Carroll, and sisters Jewell (Carroll) Anderson, Lillie (Carroll) Bufford, and Hazel (Carroll) Earl, and great nephew Randy Harrison.

 
She is survived by her daughter Randa Groves Waalkes and her husband Charles, of St. Louis, MO, grandchildren Tracy Waalkes of Philadelphia, PA., Todd Waalkes of Beuford, S.C., and Kent Waalkes of St. Louis, MO., nieces Karen Earl Duvall, of Paragould and Sheila Bufford Harrison of Hot Springs Village, great and great-great nieces and nephews, and friends both in Paragould, and St. Louis where she resided for the past six years.
Mrs. Groves and her husband Howard were owner/operators of the Carroll Packing Company in Paragould for over 40 years. She was active in the community and St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
She was defined by her faith and devotion to family, friends and God.

 
A public rosary will be held Monday evening at 6:30 at the Heath Colonial Chapel. Visitation will follow from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Her life will be celebrated at a Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday, April 14th 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Matthew Garrison officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Bernard Earl Carr  

 


Bernard Earl Carr, age 83, of Paragould, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Mr. Carr was born December 8, 1925 in Cardwell, MO., he was a retired truck driver and a Veteran of World War II. He was a member of Tenth Street Missionary Baptist Church.

 
Survivors include two sons & daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Neila Carr of Cabot, AR., Barry and Shirley Carr of Elizabethtown, KY., one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Don Slover of Paragould, sister, Rose Davidson of Paragould, brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Betty Jo Carr of Paragould, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

 
Bernard is preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Jean Blackburn Carr, a son Bobbie Joe Carr, his parents, Fred and Myrtle Thorn Carr, brothers, Ben, Raymond, Charles, Henry, Lindy and George Carr, and sister Winnie Saffer.


Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 9th at 10:00 a.m. at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Reverend Jack Bearden officiating. Burial will follow at Finch Cemetery.

Laura Jo Gray


 

Laura Jo Gray, age 81, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at NEA Baptist Hospital at Jonesboro.

Having lived in Walnut Ridge all of her life except the past year, she was a homemaker, a former employee of Lawrence Manufacturing and member of the Red Hat Organization. She was a member of 7th and Mueller Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Gray; parents, H.T. “Jodie” and Edna Daily McEntire; brothers, Ronnie and George; infant brother, H.T.; and sister, Kay.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Hill and husband Mike of Greenway; grandchildren, Timothy Hill of LaPlace, LA., and Jennifer Gladish of Paragould; and great-granddaughter, Kaylee Zawodniak.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 10th at the Main Street Church of Christ in Walnut Ridge with Rob Combs and Larry McFadden officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge.

Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Faustina Ford


Faustina Ford, age 95, of Paragould, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
Born January 10, 1914, in Piggott, she was a retired teacher. Mrs. Ford retired from Greene County Tech in 1975, and then worked with the Senior BEES for several years. She was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for over fifty years
Survivors include one son, Dewey B. Ford of Langley, Arkansas; one daughter, Lanita G. Wadley of Paragould; two brothers, John E. Davis of Dallas, and E. J. Davis of Farmington Hills, MI.; one sister, MaryBeth Wimp of Fulton, MO.; and one sister-in-law, Farrie Sue Hagen of Paragould.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, David Prince of Cabot, Glenda Kelliher of Lapine, AL., Sunie Grossman of Mascoutah, IL., and Faustina Duffy of Langley; seven great grandchildren; and by one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. and Mrs. Thomas D. Davis; her husband, Herschel Ford; one daughter, Schellabeth Ford; one son, David A. Ford; two brothers, T. D. Davis and Paul Davis; and by two sisters, Vivian Davis and Bernice Maxam.
There will be a memorial service at 1:30 p.m., Friday, April 10th, at the Shiloh United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Hughes officiating. No visitation is scheduled.

Angela Dian Householder


Angela Dian Householder of Paragould was born October 19, 1968, she passed away Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Belle Meade Nursing Center at the age of 40.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie Parker Householder. Survivors include her sisters and brothers-in-law: Martha and Chile Hernandez of Bowling Green, KY., Pearl Austin of Paragould, Stephanie Austin of Adairville, KY., Nellie and Nathan Carr of Russellville, KY., brothers and sisters-in-law, Luke and Elizabeth Austin of Paragould, Matthew and Kristy West of Lafe and several aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Saturday at the Heath Funeral Home. Friends and family will meet at Woodlawn Cemetery in Hayti, 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 11th, to celebrate her life.

Terry Lee Eggleston


Terry Lee Eggleston, age 59, of Marmaduke passed away Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. He was born June 18, 1949 in Manchester, TN. Terry was a Viet Nam veteran and was employed at Nestle Incorporated.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Eggleston of the home; one son, Burt Eggleston of Marmaduke; daughters and sons-in-law, Heather and Shane Pogue of Rector and Amber and Ray Beier of South Wilmington, IL., mother, Wilma Burt Eggleston, brother, Trent Eggleston of Manchester, TN., sisters Trava Eggleston of TN., and Teresa Eggleston of TX., and five grandchildren.
Terry is preceded in death by his father Joseph Eggleston and one brother, Tracy Eggleston.

Kellie Lynn Summitt



Kellie Lynn Summitt, age 2, of Paragould went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 9, 2009.

She was born May 15, 2006, to Katie and Garry Summitt. She attended Child and Youth Pediatric Day Clinic.

She is survived by her parents; paternal grandparents, William and Lucetra Summitt, and Bruce and Amy Crockett; maternal grandparents, Paddy Mercier and Joseph Mercier; paternal great-grandmother, Alberta Daniel; maternal great-grandparents, Mary Turner and Lonny Feltes; and a host of family and friends.

She was loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Phillips Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 14th at the Old Enterprise Cemetery at Jonesboro with William H. Summitt III officiating.

Patricia Jo Rogers



Patricia Jo Rogers, 69, of Paragould passed away April 10, 2009 at Arkansas Methodist Hospital. She was born October 11, 1939 in Paragould to the late Arch and Iva Thomas.

Patty was a member of White Oak General Baptist Church where she played the piano for the choir and loved to sing.

She is survived by her husband Burrell Rogers, one brother, Merril Thomas of Oklahoma City and one sister, Jennie Larson of Paragould.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, at the Phillips Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 13, 2009 in the Center Hill Chapel at Phillips Funeral Home with David Floyd officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.

Servings as pallbearer will be Neal Stallings, Earl Parris, David Johnston, Keith Johnston, Troy Johnston and Verlin Covert.

James William McGee


James William McGee, age 89 of Paragould, passed away Friday, April 10, 2009 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Mr. McGee was born February 1, 1920 in Cape Girardeau, MO., he was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a veteran of World War II, a member of the V.F.W. Post #2204 and a retired United States Postal employee.
Survivors include one sister: Barbara Moore of Phoenix, AZ.
Mr. McGee was preceded in death by his wife, Violet McGee, his parents, Marion and Mary McGee, four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 15th at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Letchworth officiating, burial will follow in the Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Jerry Adolphe Hayden

 


Jerry Adolphe Hayden, age 72, of Paragould, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2009 at his home. He was born July 15, 1936 in Paragould to the late Curtis and Fannye Hayden. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Glenn Whitlock.
Jerry served as produce manager at Kelley's Thriftway, assistant produce manager at Price Chopper and recently retired from Martin Sprocket and Gear. Jerry was an avid camper and fisherman and was a member of the West View Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Dianne Hayden, mother-in-law, Wilma Whitlock, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gary and Neicy Whitlock, Beverly and Dean Wooldridge, Susan and Harlon Wood, nieces, Shelley Brinkley, Stephanie Garner, Kimberly Wooldridge, Sara Wood, Serenity Hopkins, and Andrea Whitman, nephew, Zachary Whitman, and cousin and her husband, Emaline and Bob Johnston.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, at Heath Funeral Home. Jerry's life will be celebrated at the Heath Colonial Chapel, 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 14th with Dr. Adrian Parker and Rev. Marc Reeves officiating. Interment will follow at Linwood Cemetery.

Raymond David Wyatt


Raymond David Wyatt, age 81, of Marmaduke, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2009, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.
He was a retired ironworker and was born November 6, 1927, in Greene County.
Mr. Wyatt is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Bonnie Wyatt of Mishawaka, IN., Tim and Ana Wyatt of Farmer’s Branch, TX., two daughters and a son-in-law, Brenda and Dave Smith of Mishawaka, and Laura Steggert of Buford, GA. He is also survived by one sister, Loretta Bryant of Punta Gorda, FL., eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Phinas and Bessie Wyatt, his wife of 60 years, Lola Grace Wyatt, twin daughters, Sandra and Linda Wyatt, one brother, Donald Wyatt, and one sister, Nina Wyatt.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home, Rector, AR.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 16th, 10:30 a.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Rector, with Eddie Gene Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Heights Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Robert Colman Brewer


Robert Colman Brewer, age 89, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2009, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould.
He was born October 3, 1919, in Appleton, AR., to Elmer and Lena Brewer.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Gilbertia Brewer; his parents, three brothers, Herman Brewer, James Brewer, Emmit Brewer; and two sisters, Floy Brewer Lehnertz and Ruth Brewer Stanbridge.
He is survived by two brothers, Cephas Brewer and Louis Brewer; and by one sister, Delena Main.
He is also survived by his son, Mickey Brewer and wife, Kaye; three daughters, Brenda Archer and husband, Tom, Darlene Maxwell and husband, Joe, and Sheila Brewer. He is survived by three grandsons, four granddaughters, twelve great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and friends. All will miss him dearly.
Robert served in World War II in the US Army as a medic attached to the 10th Air Force in the China Burma Theater. He was retired from L. A. Darling.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 16th, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould. His nephew, Rev. Rudy Ring, will officiate. The family will receive friends and family from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Brad Brewer, Jeff Archer, Clint Beasley, Don Christopher, Drake Coleman Maxwell, Tom Archer, and Joe Maxwell.

Mrs. Mildred Elizabeth Shultz, age 92, Paragould, passed away Monday, April 13, 2009 at Greene Acres Nursing Home. Mrs. Shultz was born January 22, 1917, she was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Jerry Blackwood, first husband and father of her children, Roy Blackwood, parents, Henry and Mable Holmes Lawthorp.
Survivors include her husband: Donald Shultz of the home, son, Larry Blackwood of Poplar Bluff, daughter-in-law, Lamanda Blackwood of Sherwood, grandchildren, Lea Jones of Conway, Danielle Sandage Minneapolis, MN., Jim Blackwood of Conway and E.J. Roussell of Jonesboro, great grandchildren, David, Erin, Cameron, Kate, Camielle and Oliver.

Ollie Mae Dodd, age 94 of Lafe, passed away April 14, 2009 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Born January 13, 1915 in Knob, AR., she was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy Dodd, Jerry and Barbara Dodd all of Lafe, Logan and Betty Dodd of Paragould, Donnie Dodd of Kennett, MO., a daughter and son in law, Frances and Don Thomas of Herculancum, MO., ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by, her parents, Edward and Mary Burns, her husband, Logan F. Dodd, a son, William Dodd, a brother, Artie Burns, three sisters, Lillian Groning, Lena Ramer, and Bessie White.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Bro. Eldon Parrish officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodland Heights cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

James Riley Williams, age 31, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at the Arkansas Methodist Hospital, Paragould.

He was born December 28, 1977, in Jonesboro to the late John and Phillis Maggard Williams.

Survivors include an aunt and uncle, Rex and Connie Maggard, and cousin and caregiver, Marie Allen, all of Paragould.

Jimmy D. Montgomery, age 59, of Paragould, passed away April 14, 2009. He was born November 13, 1949 in Memphis, TN.
Jimmy was a Vietnam veteran and employed by A.R.I. of Paragould.
He was preceded in death by his father, Troy Montgomery in 1972; his mother, Cleo Wolfe in 2000, and a sister, LaVerne in 1935.

Christeen Arnold


Christeen Arnold, age 86, of Rector, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009, in Rector. She was born October 27, 1922, in Clay County to the late Thomas and Ada (Patton) Meredith.
In 1939, Christeen married Roy Wilcoxson. To this union three daughters were born, Shirley, Elaine and Peggy, who died at the age of two months.

In 1949, Joseph Arnold and Christeen were wed. To this union six children were born, Wanda, Edward, Rebecca, David, Dianne and Leisa.
Also preceding her in death were her husband, Joe; infant daughter, Peggy Wilcoxson; one brother, Otis Meredith, and three sisters, Marie Brown, Viola Jackson and Jeanette Floyd.
Survivors include two sons, Edward Arnold and Debbie Hardin of Knob and David Arnold of Rector; six daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Larry Catt of Corning, Elaine and Bob Morris of Knob, Wanda and Jim Martin of Marmaduke, Rebecca and Bobby Ingram of Corning, Dianne and Dennis Tipton of Hickory Plains and Leisa and Bryan Wesley of Rector; special nephew, Doyce Eagle; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Jewel Crawford of Rector and Florence Riggs of IN.

Myrtle Mae Ferguson, age 94, of Paragould, formerly of Rector, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009 in Paragould. Born May 20, 1914, in El Paso, AR., to the late Charlie and Lula Talley, she was a homemaker and attended the Pentecostal Church.
Also preceding her in death were four brothers, Dewey, Bill, Richard and Charles Talley, and five sisters, Pauline, Annie, Charlene, Lottie and Mamie.
Survivors include two sons, James Ferguson of Eldon, MO., and Dean Ferguson of Rector; five daughters, Peggy Ferguson of Paragould, Mildred Stiles of Portage, MI., Doris Mygatt and Lorene Hand, both of Waterloo, IL., and Melba Lanier of Herculaneum, MO.; one brother, Louie Cordell of Rector; five sisters, Margie Priest of Upland, CA., Rosie Modlin of Beebe, Dorthy Byrd of Fort Smith, Louise Shelton of Rector and Donna Edwards of Paragould; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Vicki Foster



Vicki Foster, age 54 of Paragould passed away Thursday, April 15, 2009 at The Med in Memphis. Vicki was a 3rd grade teacher at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School, a member of the ADK Teachers Sorority, NEA, AEA, Paragould Classroom Teachers Association, an avid tennis player, and she loved to travel. She was a member of the Center Hill First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis I. and Ruby Thompson Rasberry.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Foster of the home, daughter, Erica Foster of Ballwin, MO; son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Natalie Foster of Alexandria, VA and granddaughter, Ennis Ruby Foster of Alexandria, VA.

Aaron Edgar Coleman, age 78, of Paragould passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. He was born March 2, 1931 in Craighead County the son of Aaron Edgar Coleman, Sr. and Susie Francis Martin Coleman. He was a retired business owner and a member of the Commissary Church Of Christ.

Verlon D. Horn, age 81, of Dallas, TX., formerly of Paragould, passed away April 17, 2009 in Dallas. Born December 10, 1927 in Senath, MO., he was an Army veteran of WW-II, a retired electrician and assistant public works director for Odessa College in Odessa, TX., and a member of the Church of Christ.


He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Toni Horn of Dallas, Texas; three daughters and son-in-law, Kathy and Ron Huse of Arlington, Texas, and Peggy VanHorn and Patty Horn both of Dublin, California; one brother, Joe Horn of Paragould; one sister, Judy Gruell of Paragould; nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, and by an aunt, Marie Parker of Kennett, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dayton and Hester Horn, and his wife, Mary Ida Horn.

Michael Wayne Long, age 55, of Paragould passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born December 15, 1953, at Marmaduke, he was an owner of CO-ORD Glass and Southern Door of Paragould, a U.S. Army veteran and a born again Christian.

He is survived by his father, Harold K. Long of Paragould; his parents, Bob and Betty Hays of Paragould; his wife, Carol Long of Paragould; one son, Michael Robert Wayne Long of Paragould; one stepson, Greg Johnson of Pocahontas; one daughter, Jamie Rickey of Paragould; two brothers, Robert and Gary Long of Paragould; one sister, Susan Long Gramling of Paragould; four grandchildren, Brianna, Mead and A.J. Rickey and Isabella Jane Costner; four nieces, Jennifer Ward, Nikki Long, Chelsea Wyatt and Lisa Tarry; four nephews, Jeremy Long, Trevor Gramling, Ben Gramling and Bryan Gramling; and one great nephew, Camden Gramling.

Joe Eddie Rawls


Joe Eddie Rawls, age 78, Paragould, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009 at his home. He was a farmer and retired from Martin, Sprocket and Gear.
Born May 1, 1930 in Beech Grove the son of the late William and Lucy Russom Rawls. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Chlistia "Kate" Len Rawls, sisters, Euna Smith, Dessie Wren, Clora Manzo, brothers, Harvey, D.W. and Earnie Rawls.


He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Marie and Randy Dunlap; sons and daughters-in-law: Eddie Gale and Debbie Rawls, Billy Don and Barbara Rawls, and Jeffrey Thomas and Pam Rawls; sister: Vernie Dowdy, all of Paragould; eleven grandchildren, several great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Mary Edith Miner, age 75, of Paragould, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009 at her home. Mary was retired from Arkansas Methodist Medical Center and was a member of Newton Street Church Of Christ.
She was born September 30, 1933 in Brinkley the daughter of the late Joe and Barbara Slayton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Miner, brother, Robert Lee Slayton and sister, Barbara King.

Lola Frances Crow Ivy, age 90, of Paragould, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009, at her residence.
Born August 31, 1918, in Beech Grove, Mrs. Ivy was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.


Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Harold Crow, and Virgil E. and Lue Crow, all of Lafe, Bruce and Ann Crow of Stayton, OR., Lester Crow and his companion Vicki Tyler of Stonewall, AR., Richard and Debbie Crow of Ware Shoals, S.C., three daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth and Bill Carter of Heber Springs, Bessie and Richard Brown of Paragould, Frances and Donald Choate of Lyons, OR. She is also survived by one sister, Alta Crow of Pocahontas, 25 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren, and by 34 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Mary Roush; her first husband, Virgil M. Crow; her second husband, Theodore Ivy; three sons, George, Marion and Kenneth Crow; one daughter, Mary Artie Mae Chappell; one brother; and one sister.

Harold Young



Harold Young, age 80, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2009.

Born October 3, 1928, at Delaplaine, he was the son of the late Arther and Flora Rice Young.
Harold held many jobs, a farmer, logger and was retired from Magee after 17 years of service. He had a strong faith in Jesus.

He was preceded in death by a brother, A. J. Young, and an infant sister, Beverly Young.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Young of the home; three sons, James Young of KS., Darrell Young and Ronnie Young, both of Walnut Ridge; daughter, Glenda Carrithers Young of Pocahontas; two stepchildren, Terry Kincade and Molly Venson; a stepmother, Ula Belle Young, seven brothers, Charles, Calvin, Jerry, Ford, Feran, Melton and Noland Young; three sisters, Eva Gentry, Janise Schulist and Sharon Brown; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three uncles; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 24th, in McNabb Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Gardens with Buddy Tribble and Carl McKinney officiating.

Mary DeGraw


Mary DeGraw, age 89, of Paragould passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at Greene Acres Nursing Home.

She was born January 3, 1920, in Sparta, TN., and was a retired schoolteacher. Mrs. DeGraw was a member of Center Hill Church of Christ.

She is survived by one son, Perry DeGraw of Freeport, IL.; several brothers and sisters; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William DeGraw, one son, T.L. DeGraw, and several brothers and sisters.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 24th at Pine Knot Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home. Emmett Floyd Smith III will officiate.

Della Lee Hafer


Della Lee Hafer, age 87, of Bismarck, formerly of Paragould, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at the St. Joseph Medical Health Center, Hot Springs.
Born September 11, 1921, in Craighead County, she was a homemaker, and of the Methodist faith.

 
Survivors include one son, Gaylon Hafer of Wynne; and two daughters, Billie Bryant of Paragould, and Brenda Gonzales of Bismarck. She is also survived by five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and by a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C. N. Hafer.


Visitation will be Friday evening 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 25th, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Freddy Muse officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery, Brookland.

Eunice Fay Howerton


Born September 10, 1925, Eunice Fay Howerton, age 83, of Paragould passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Greene Acres Nursing Home. She was of Pentecostal faith and a retired Evangelist.
Eunice is survived by one sister, Eula Mae Hyde of Paragould and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Caroline Howerton; brothers, Arlis and Burless; Curtis Howerton and Clyde Howerton of Paragould; and one sister, Gladys Wilson of Jonesboro.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 24th at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Reverend Floyd Ryles officiating. Burial will follow at Wood’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at Heath Funeral Home.

Leon Franklin Smith



Leon Smith, age 67 of Marmaduke passed away April 22, 2009 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
He was born February 4, 1942 to the late Ernest and Ettar (Carroll) Smith in Greene County.
In addition to his parents: Leon was preceded in death by his brothers, Elbert, Wesley and Odell Smith.

 
Leon is survived by his loving wife, Lois Smith, two sons: Dewayne and Joyce Smith of Paragould, Kevin Smith of Nobleville, IN.,one step-son, Marvin and JoAnn Mill of St. Geneive, MO., one step-daughter, Wanda and Nick Ethridge of Conway, AR., eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, five sisters: Joy Ressler of Carmel, IN., Judy Dennis of Jonesboro, IN., Shela Wesner of Sheridan, IN., Wanda Thompson of Somerset, KY., and Melanie Smelser of Hooker, AR., along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 24, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Marmaduke with Brother Kim Bridges officiating.
Visitation will begin Friday at 9:00 a.m. at the church.

Katherine Louise Bass


Katherine “Kay” Louise Bass, age 65, of Paragould passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009 at her residence.

She was born December 22, 1943, in Elgin, IL., she was a homemaker and member of the New Covenant Worship Center in Paragould.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne Bass of the home; daughters, Wendy Rhine of Paragould, Sandra Langston of Bono, Faith McCall of Little Rock and Genny Towell of Manila; one son, Richard Bass of Paragould; mother, Ellen Geneva Adams of San Jose, CA., brothers, Arnie and Roy Adams of San Jose, 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her father, Richard C. Adams.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Heath Colonial Chapel with Larry Bulla and Richard Bass officiating. Burial will follow in Lorado Cemetery.

Anita Morgan


Anita Morgan, 87, of Paragould, passed away April 24, 2009, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Born November 27, 1921, in Paragould, she was the owner of Sugar‘n Spice which she operated with her sister, Mathel Quail, and was a member of the Second and Walnut Church of Christ.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Vicki Morgan of Little Rock; two grandchildren, Trent and Mason Morgan of Little Rock; a special niece, Mary Ann Washington of Paragould; a special grand nephew, Bryan Jones of Paragould, and by several other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, W. A. and Maybelle Jenkins, her husband, Dale Morgan, and by two sisters, Delois Mitchell and Mathel Quail.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 28th, 11:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with James A. Brown officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. until service time at Mitchell Funeral Home.

Maxine LaVerne Huckabee, age 73, of Paragould, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Belle Meade Healthcare.
She was born April 11, 1936, and retired from Sunlight Casual Furniture.

 
Survivors include two sons, Larry (Angie) Huckabee of Arbyrd, Rick Huckabee of Paragould; one daughter, Glenna Huckabee of Arbyrd; one brother, Jimmy Hicks of West Plains. and two sisters, Linda Newboles of Little Rock, and Diane McCratic of Springfield. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren

Tonya Gail Brewer



Tonya Gail Brewer, age 45, of Paragould passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center
She was born February 22, 1964, in Paragould to Jimmie and Marie Rogers. Tonya was a Christian.

Preceding her in death were her mother, Marie Rogers, and a brother, J.D. Rogers.

She is survived by her husband, Noah “Trey” Brewer, daughter, Amanda Brewer of the home, her father, Jimmie Rogers of Paragould, her mother and father-in-law, Bobby and Nina Brewer of Norfork, and a brother-in-law, Christopher Brewer of Paragould.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 30th in the Center Hill Chapel at Phillips Funeral Home with Dr. Todd Ewing officiating.

Ollie Mae Church



Mrs. Ollie Mae Church, age 49, of Lake City departed this life on Monday, April 27, 2009 at her home.

She was born May 29, 1959, in Paragould, the daughter of Elsey and Gladys (Sumpter) Barnes.

Mrs. Church is survived by her husband, Donald Barnes, two sons, Curtis and Justin Manis, one daughter, Kristy Church Schrader, one brother, Bud Barnes, one sister, Martha Faircloth; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 1st Jackson’s Harrisburg Funeral Home Chapel with Anthony Clem officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 Thursday evening.

Geneva Roberta Wood


Geneva Roberta Wood, age 91, of Paragould, AR departed this life to be with the Lord on April 28, 2009.
Born August 15, 1917, at Lafe, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. Lee and Effie Lee (Potts) White.
Mrs. Wood was a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church. She lived her life in loving service to her God, her family and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years Ralph Carlyle Wood, seven brothers: Leland, Charles O., Alvin, Lloyd, Alfred, Elbridge and Eltee White, four sisters: Arlie Cooper, Lora Wright, Edna Cooper, and Leona Vangilder.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Dallas and Sandy Wood of Paragould, two daughters and their husbands, Clarice and Winfred Cox of Russellville, AR and Carolyn and Kenneth Pugh of Paragould, eight grandchildren: Kevin and Paula Pugh, Danonne and Lou Citro, Melanie and Phillip Barry, Kerry and Shirley Pugh, Ralph and Laura Wood, Kenny and Diane Pugh, Kristie Pugh, Tisha and Kyle Smith; two step-grandchildren, Sara Phillips and Donnie Barnes, nineteen great-grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren, two special sisters-in-law, Winnie and Audie Lee White. She is also survived by fifty special nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 30th at the Providence Baptist Church, Lafe. The service will be conducted by Bro. Eddie Gene Wright and Bro. Gary Morris.
Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Heath Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Lou Citro, Kyle Smith, Shane Carter, Kale and Ethan Pugh.
Honorary pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews.

Lillian Marie Ward



Lillian Marie Ward, age 83, of Paragould passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at St. Bernards Medical Center, Jonesboro. Born June 30, 1925, Mrs. Ward was retired from Paragould Laundry as a press operator and member of the Seed of Faith Pentecostal Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Earline Seals Warren; sisters, Elsie Harrell and Lona Lowrance, brothers, Carnell and Tommy Warren; and stepmother, Mary Warren.

Survivors include her husband, Johnnie Ward of the home; daughters, Glenda Rogers, Brenda French and Reda Seal, all of Paragould; grandchildren, Ronda Slatton, Terry Rogers, Alicia French, Kevin French and Chantelle Hubbard; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 1st in the Heath Funeral Home Colonial Chapel with Rev. Truman Wycoff officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Nelson Ned Gilliland


Nelson "Shorty" Gilliland, age 67, was born August 14, 1942, he passed away Thursday, April 30, 2009 at his residence in Paragould. Nelson was a coordinator and troubleshooter for Monroe Auto Equipment. He was of the Baptist faith.
Nelson was a Navy veteran serving 3 years as a mechanic on the USS Esteem and 22 years in the Army National Guard as a cook.
Shorty was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Nelson Gilliland and a sister, Gloria Rickard.
Survivors include his wife, Cora Gilliland of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Corrie and Brad Evans of Ector, TX and Carmen and Andy White of Jonesboro, sons and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Roxanne DeWitt of Tylertown, MS., and Wendell DeWitt of Paragould, brother and sister-in-law, Donnie and Sharon Gilliland of Jonesboro, mother, Evelyn Gilliland of Paragould, 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 4th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Rev. Don Seat officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Cynthia Ann Howell Hall, age 48, of Paragould passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2009.

Survivors include her daughters, Shara Howell of Paragould and Latosha Hall of Oxly, MO., mother, Joy Howell of Paragould, brothers, Kelvin Howell of Festus, MO., and Jay Gilbert Howell of St. Louis, and sisters, Tammy Tate of Knobel and Renee Hurt of Paragould.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 2nd at the Ermert Funeral Home at Corning with the Rev. Kelsey Vallance officiating. Burial will be in Hosea Cemetery at Knobel.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 Friday evening in the funeral home.

Jimmy Roush



Jimmy Roush, age 54, of Trumann passed away Thursday, April 30, 2009, at his residence.

Mr. Roush was born at Paragould to the late Harvey and Virble Spencer Roush. He was a lifelong resident of the Trumann and Lake City area. He was of the Baptist faith, retired from the Singer plant in Trumann, a farmer, avid NASCAR fan, well known in the community and a very giving person.

Survivors include one daughter, Rhonda Roush of Jonesboro, two brothers, Robby Roush and wife Linda of Huntington and Richard Roush of Jonesboro, four sisters, Peggy Lisk and husband James of Lake City, Brenda Houston of Jonesboro, Linda Russell of Bay and Violet Burlison and husband Harvey of Paragould, one granddaughter; and a host of nephews, nieces, other family and friends.

Mr. Roush was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Diane Roush, Mary Roush and Patricia Cambron.

A memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday May 2nd at the home of Mary Wheeley, Jonesboro, with the Rev. Joe McMaster officiating. Interment will be in Pine Log Cemetery near Brookland. Faith Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
