Attached
is the mausoleum photo of someplace in
Greene
County. The picture shows Tennessee Virginia Yates Dover b March 28, 1858 d
April 16, 1929. Tennie in this picture was the widow of Andrew L. Dover
b August 12, 1847 d January 29, 1896. Both Tennie and Andrew are buried
at Pruett Chapel and have stones. There are two different family
photo’s that have survived of Tennie at this same location at
different times. It held some significance. Her father was Henderson H.
Yates 1822-1892.
The couple on Tennie’s right (left in the picture) are, I believe, her
son William Wallace Dover b 1877 d 1929, his wife Minnie Mae Garland and
there youngest child Hazel b 1904. William & Minnie and a son are
buried at
Center
Hill
Cemetery
. It would appear then that the mausoleum picture was taken between 1904
and maybe 1910.
Talk about a surprise in
Paragould. Tennie’s son Clarence Gilbert Dover was my grandfather worked for
the railroad for 50 years mostly at the depot in
Paragould
where I “hung out” with Grandpa a few times when I was a kid.
I drove to the depot hoping to see it one last time and was shocked when
I pulled up to the old parking lot area. The depot is gone but it has
been recreated as a mural on the wall of a building at the same location
or just behind the old location.
