Fay Jean Smith Fikes, age 90, of Pine Bluff, died Friday, June 22, 2007, in the Hospice Homecare Inpatient Center in Pine Bluff. Mrs. Fikes was born April 28, 1917, in Grant County, Arkansas, a daughter of the late Jacob Sidney and Catherine Isabel White Smith.
Mrs. Fikes was reared and educated in Grant County, where she attended the Grant County schools. She moved to Pine Bluff at an early age and had resided here since 1932. Mrs Fikes was a member of Good Faith United Methodist Church and Co-owner of Fikes Truck Line. She was previously married to Horace J. "Bullet" Fikes for forty-four years.
Mrs. Fikes was preceded in death by seven brothers, two half brothers and three sisters.She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Wayne Edwards of White Hall and Norma and Woody Keeling of Indianapolis, Indiana; one son and daughter-in-law, Horace "Buck" Fikes, Jr. and Laurie of White Hall; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, June 25, 2007, at 10:00 A M in Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Reverend Gary Bell officiating. Burial was in Cedar Branch Cemetery.
