1997 QUERIES
FULTON COUNTY, ARKANSAS
COZEAN/WHITE
George Washington COZEAN. This man was on the Lawrence
County 1850 census, Lebanon Twp.
That is the only time I ever found him on a census. Records prove that he died
in 1854. He had sent into WA DC for bounty for service of 1836-7, and those
papers say he is a resident of Fulton Co. (after the census, and before his
death, early 1850's). Denied. The property he bought
in 1851 was on the Strawberry. This was later Sharp Co. His wife was Eliza J.
WHITE. I have records of the children and also after his death, for the
guardianship of them by Eliza's father Elias White of Madison Co. MO. I cannot
find out anything about him or of his relatives before 1836, when he was on the
tax records of Lawrence Co. AR. I cannot find a cemetery where he is buried. I
cannot find church records. The military records spell the name COZIAN also.
Any information about him or his blood relatives is most welcome. Family
tradition says he came from Canada.
When? From where? Who were his parents? Why did the
application to WA DC say he was a resident of Fulton Co? I do not think he is
of the family from Independence Co. named CROZINE/CORZINE who came from NC; I
worked on that a long time. Submitter: Virginia
