An Aged Pioneer,
Gone
Stephen
M. Henry, one of the pioneers of Fulton County, died February 15, at 4:30 p.m.
at his home near Salem, of pneumonia, after a brief illness. He passed away in sight of where he
settled 53 years old. He leaves a
wife and eight grown children, 7 boys and one girl, 45 grand-children and 16
great-grand-children. All the
children were with him in his last hours.
Mrs. Bud Ivy is his only daughter.
The boys are Walter and Arthur of Salem, Pet of Shirley, Will of Tupelo,
Ed of West Plains and Virgil of Greenfield, Mo., and Harrison of Sapulpa,
Oklahoma. Two Grand-daughters,
Mesdames Jessie Plummer and Eva Cook were here from Memphis with him. He came to Fulton County in 1872. He was elected mayor of Many Islands
some 15 years ago while a merchant there.
During the Civil War he was a Union soldier, serving with Co. K, 16th
Missouri Cavalry. His friends were
legion, for he was a good man and worthy citizen.

Mrs.
Andy Rogers, aged 30, mother of four girls, the eldest of whom is 10, died
Wednesday morning at 1 o'clock at her home on the Swaim place on Myatt
creek. She was a devoted member of
the Christian church. She was
buried at Shiloh Thursday at 1 o'clock, Eld. B. M. Lemmons
delivering the funeral oration.
