Mammoth Spring Democrat, Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, May 19, 1922

Mrs. L. D. Cash, 64, mother of 10 children, 6 of whom are living, as follows, R. H. and C. D. Cash and Mrs. E. E. Barmun, Jr., living here, Mrs. D. V. Brock of Truman, Mrs. G. P. Wooldridge, Paris, Tex., and Mrs. T. F. Burkett of Afton, Okla., died 12:10 a.m. May 18, 1922 at her home 3 miles west of town.  She was sick 21 days of several causes and all that medical aid could do was of no avail.  She was a Christian member of the Christian church for more than 45 years.  She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moses Michaels and was born and reared in Fulton county.  Her parents came from Indiana 75 years ago.  She was born on English creek within 5 miles of where she lived and died.

Willard Denton of Thayer who some time ago was thrown from a horse into a barbed wire fence and had a leg cut badly, is improving nicely under care of Dr. Garner.

Mrs. Earle Lunn and daughter, Gwendolyn Marie of Drumright, Okla., are here visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Charlton.

Mammoth Spring Democrat, Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, November 17, 1922

Mrs. Mary Cordelia Waits, mother of Sim and Cleve Waits, and quite a number of Democratic girls who have changed their names but who remain her girls, just the same, will be 70 years of age tomorrow.  She is not well and consequently the day will not be as joyous to her, to her children, nor to her multitude of friends as have been former like occasions.  She was in town Saturday to consult Dr. H. B. Hull.  He administered to her, and believes she will recuperate.  Cleve tells us today that she has been in bed since last Saturday evening, and that he is alarmed about her.  Mrs. Waits seems a mother to us, and her children brothers and sisters.  When a boy we had no relatives or home; just an orphan adrift; and it was “Uncle Sim” and “Aunt Mary” Waits who threw their home open to us and treated us a one of their own children.  We wish the dear old soul could live forever.

Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Davison, residents of Marvell, Phillips county, dear friends of ours, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Tuesday of this week, Nov. 14, 1922.  They were married in 1872.  Mr. Davison, with Martin Cole, father of Albert Cole of Mammoth Spring, located in the woods where the flourishing town of Marvell now nestles with its substantial brick and concrete business block, fine schools and churches, electric light and power and all the modern conveniences, and hard-surfaces roads.  We acknowledge an invitation to this joyful event and regret very much our inability to be present.

N. D. Porter and Mrs. J. D. Jones, both Apostolic Faith preachers and A1 citizens, were married Sunday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Jones on the west side of town, Justice J. J. Brown, officiating.  Mr. Porter moved his household effects, etc., to the home of his chosen companion where, with their things together, they will reside.  The Democrat wishes them joy, happiness, peace and contentment.

Andrew Frisbee has moved his family back to Mammoth Spring from Egypt, Craighead county and is in the market to rent or buy a farm.  Couldn’t have health where he was.

Jim Short, a member of the county board of education, and one of the solid citizens of the county, was here from Benton township yesterday with cotton seed.

J. R. Baldwin and State Senator Mark A. McGruder, both of Sedalia, Mo., are here visiting in the Riverside home of John W. Baldwin, the brother to Mr. J. R.

J. D. Spense, H. N. Ross, Virgil and David Caldwell and T. J. Crough, all farmers of Byron and Wheeling, came to town yesterday on business.

C. T. Jones & Co, Fancy and Staple Groceries, Flour and Feed, We Have It, or We’ll Get It, or It’s Not in Town.  Come to See Us.  A Real Welcome Awaits You.
