Highway 23 Bridge over the Arkansas River at Ozark |
Welcome To Ozark |
Ozark City Courthouse |
This bridge connects Webb City with Ozark. Ozark is nine miles west of Altus.
The courthouse is the county
seat of Franklin County, Arkansas.
The Original Ozark was named after the French Aux Arc, which
means "big bend", the city of Ozark was named for its
location within the ten mile bend of the Arkansas River.
This Franklin County seat is also the point where the river is
farthest north in the state. The Ozark-Jeta Taylor Lock and
Dam on the Arkansas river creates Ozark Lake, the site of fine
fishing, water sports opportunities and overnight camping.
The majestic Ozark Mountains rise on both sides of the town and
Ozark also serves as the gateway to the Ozark National Forest.
The old Ozark railroad station is now a museum
Charley Miller, and Frank Hood. Anyone know when the photograph of this Ozark Ferryboat was taken? |
Old Post Cards from Ozark, Arkansas
Dear Don, I don't think that you've got a place for this query on the Franklin Co. website.
I am trying to locate families of these people in pictures with some of my Anderson and Donald family pictures.
I am trying to locate anyone who knows something about: Brother August Woods and his wife, Brother Clyde Elwood and his wife, Brother and sister Chase, Uncle Bill and Aunt Margie Baker.
I think that they might be members of Enon Baptist Church since they are labeled "Brother" and "Sister". The pictures are browntone and appear to have been taken in the early 1900's,. Have a reference to Allie Childers and Lacy Carr from the same time period. Anne
