I am looking for information on Thomas STATUM (STATOM) who is listed on the 1880 Faulkner Co., Arkansas Census in the Palarm community. He is in the household of Ezekiel WILKERSON and under the column for relation is says other. I assume that he was working on Ezekiel WILKERSON'S farm. Edna WILKERSON, Ezekiel's wife, and Asberry C. WILKERSON, Ezekiel's son, are listed in the household. According to The History of Faulkner County, Arkansas by Alex McPherson R. K. WILKERSON is a son of Ezekiel WILKERSON and Ezekiel settled in Faulkner County in 1871. I believe that Thomas STATUM is the father of my Great-grandfather, James Thomas STATUM. If this Thomas STATUM is the one that I am looking for his parents are William STATUM (b. 1835 in VA d. before 1865 in Civil War) and Mary M. TIPPS STATUM (b. 1835 in TN) of Franklin Co., Tennessee. After Mary M. TIPPS STATUM'S husband, William STATUM, died in the Civil War she married her neighbor, William H. GILLISPIE, in 1865 in Franklin Co., TN. On the 1880 Franklin Co., TN Census my Great-grandfather, James Thomas STATUM, is listed in the household of William GILLISPIE as a step grandson. I cannot find Thomas STATUM in Tennessee in 1880, but I did run across this Thomas STATUM in Faulkner Co., Arkansas. My Thomas F. STATUM was born 25 Dec. 1857 and died 11 Oct 1898. He is buried in the Winchester City Cemetery in Franklin Co., Tennessee. If this Thomas STATUM and my Thomas F. STATUM is the same person I would assume that he went to Arkansas to find work and possibly could have married, but decided to return to Franklin Co., Tennessee before his death in 1898. If you have any information or questions concerning Thomas STATUM or STATOM and or any information on the WILKERSON family please e-mail me at LElectrica@aol.com |
