Jacob HELLUM migrated from Missippi to Drew Co. in the late 1850's to what was then Smith Township. Smith Township was abolished in 1860 and was recreated in 1870. He is found in the 1870 census of Drew Co. Smith Township, but I can not find him in the 1860 Drew Census. I am looking for information concerning what happened to the residence of Smith Township in the 1860 Census. |

SMITH Is anyone researching the Smith family who moved to the Coleman Community about 1857 (maybe). They came from Tippah County, Mississippi. I have Thomas Richard Smith married Sarah. His son Thomas Richard Smith married Margaret Jane Honnoll. The first T.R. Smith is buried in Old Florence Cemetery, but the grave has been lost. The second T.R. William was known to the family as Uncle Billie Larkin. The LARKIN family settled at Enon, AR when they came here from Wilmington, North Carolina. In the 1860 census of Drew County, AR, is listed a "WM" BARDWELL in Marion Township. I believe that this is actually WAITSTILL/WAITSEL BARDWELL. He was born c1812 in AR, probably in the Wolf Creek area in what is now Pike County. He removed with his father, SOLOMON BARDWELL, to Lawrence County, MS, after 1816. He married NANCY KNIGHT in 1830 in Copiah County, MS. He married MAHALA WATSON in 1844 in Copiah County, MS. He married third, MRS. REBECCA PERRY, widow of WILLIAM PERRY, in 1858 in Oauchita Parish, LA. He was in Morehose Parish, LA, in 1858, and Drew County, AR in 1860. I cannot trace him past 1860. Can anyone provide information on what became of him? He had two children who settled in Carroll Parishes of Louisiana, but the records of these Parish have no records regarding WAITSTILL. |

I would like to have some genealogy on the MCKIEVER family and will gladly share what I have on the family as well. James and Mary MCKIEVER were the parents of William H. MCKIEVER. William b 3-31-1842 in Mississippi. William married Almeda Elizabeth WILSON b 4-1-1845 in Walton County, Georgia. William and Elizabeth had a son named Wiliam "James" who married Cora Argusta UPTOGROVE/UPTEGROVE on 9-11-1900. Cora was born in Grenada, Mississippi. Cora's mother was a LANKFORD/LANGFORD before she married. I do know the MCKIEVER family moved to Drew County and their descedants are still there. James was my ggrandfather and I am interested in gathering information on all the lines I have mentioned. |

Seeking info on M. COOK listed in 1870 Census for Bartholomew Township. Married to Caroline. Lists several children, one of which is Benjamin. I am seeking info on Benjamin, as I believe he may have been my grandfather who was born in September, 1861. Grandfather later moved to Louisiana where he died in 1938. His death certificate lists parents as unknown, but he was born in Arkansas. Any info appreciated. |
