Seeking information about Maud FLUETT "of Monticello," who married my uncle, R. C. (Reiney) REITZAMMER. The only information I have on her is from a newspaper article in the "Arkansas City Democrat," dated October 26, 1916. The article states that they were married at Monticello on Thursday, October 19, 1916, saying further "Miss Fluett is not a stranger in Arkansas City, where she has been employed as teacher in the city schools, and has many friends here who will most cordially welcome her back, this time to make this little city her home." I was too young at that time to know about this marriage, but I was informed later that Maud contracted influenza and died in the 1918 flu epidemic, after having been married for just about a year. If Monticello was her home, someone there now may know something about the FLUETT family and can tell me about this lady who was so briefly my aunt. Perhaps she is buried in a Monticello cemetery family plot. Or maybe a record of the marriage in the Drew County courthouse may tell more about her. If you know anything at all about Maud FLUETT or the FLUETT family, please send me an email message.
