BECK
Marci Shaw Peralez
Aug 19, 2001
I'm
looking for any information regarding the BECK family. Charles
BECK was born abt 1803 in GA. He married Catherine CAMPBELL (b1805,
NC) in Lowndes Co., AL, 30 Oct 1830. They had seven children that
I can find: Andrew Quincy b. abt 1838; Catherine M. b abt 1839;
Flora Ann b abt 1840; Eliza M. b abt 1842; Charles J. b abt 1842;
Susan (or Sarah) J. b abt 1844; and William J. b abt 1847. All
the children were born in Alabama. The family was on the 1850
census in Texas Twp., St. Francis Co. In 1860, Charles is in Craighead
County with Andrew Quincy (listed as Quincy), Susan, and William
J. (listed as Jefferson). In 1870, I can only find Andrew, with
his wife Hannah, and son C.J. (Charles Jefferson). Hannah has
remarried by 1880. The rest of the family is no where to be found.
Any hits or leads as to what happened to this family would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks...

POSEY to Monette, Arkansas. John POSEY had been married once before,

disapeared without a trace. Her BONNER children ended up in the
Baptist Children's Home in Jackson, MS, in May 1920. I am a granddaughter

HODGES
Ann Gasser Oct. 23, 2001
I
am trying to trace the family of my maternal grandfather whose
name was Daniel Franklin HODGES. I had been told by my mother
years ago that his father's name was Creed Clay HODGES, but I
can't find any information on either of them or anything that
would provide links to where either of them were born. Daniel
Franklin HODGES was born about 1864 but I have no idea in what
state. I do know that in 1890 he was teaching school in Jonesboro,
Arkansas. He evidently left there early in 1891 to take a course
at Ewing College in Ewing, Illinois because his students gave
him a signed autograph book and one of the autographs in a child's
handwriting, was signed, "Your little niece, Ettie Ritter."
I don't know whether he returned to Jonesboro, but he met my grandmother
at Ewing College and they were later married and lived in Flora,
Illinois..

JONES JOHNSTON
John P. Johnston
Jan. 11, 2002
I
am searching for descendants of Thomas Jasper JONES and his wife,
Patience Emma JOHNSTON. I know very little about this family.
Patience Emma was born ca. 1845 in Georgia and married there in
1863 to Thomas Jasper JONES. At some point, they moved to Craighead
County, Ark., where they both died, so far as I know. Patience
Emma had a brother, Terrell JOHNSTON, who had moved also to Craighead
County. Terrell Johnston's wife died, and he ordered a "mail
order" bride back in Georgia. He started back to Georgia
on the train to get her, but he got sick and died the day he arrived
back in Georgia. I have been told that T. J. JONES and wife Patience
Emma were buried at Caldwell's Chapel cemetery, wherever that
is. It is, I think, somewhere near Jonesboro. Any assistance will
be genuinely appreciated. I regret that I don't know any of their
children's names. John P. Johnston (Brundidge, Alabama)

LEWIS MOSELY
Georgiana Norris
Oct. 22, 2001
I
am looking for information on the family of John G. LEWIS and
Dora Alice MOSELY. John was born May 31, 1890, and died Nov. 14,
1964. Dora Alice was born March 25, 1890, died April 2, 1940.
They are both buried in the Monette Memorial Cemetary in Monette.
According to John's obit, he had lived in the Black Oak-Monette
area for 43 years, so I believe he moved there in abt. 1921. Prior
to that he had lived in Cave City and in Batesville. He was a
retired farmer. They had four sons - George Albert, born 1911
in Cave City, Aubrey C. (my grandfather) born in 1918 in Batesville,
Elbert, and John W. - and seven daughters - Pearl, Elvie, Estella,
Juanita, Norma, and two others whose names I don't know. John
remarried after Dora Alice died; his second wife's name was Mary,
but I don't have a last name. According to my mother, Mary had
a daughter from her first marriage, Pat or Patricia, who also
took the name of LEWIS. I am trying to find any information on
this family, and would particularly like to know the names of
the other two daughters, John's parents, Dora's parents, where
they were born, etc. A wonderful lady in Monette was kind enough
to go to the cemetary and take pictures of John and Dora's graves
for me. The flowers on the graves look as if they were placed
there recently, so I am betting that there is still family in
the area. If anyone is related or knows any info on the Lewis
family, I would be very greatful for anything that would help.
