"Young Ferd Phipps had been trained at Oliver and Company and after graduation set up this restaurant and confectionary in the building at West First and Elm that housed the Sheeks-Stephens Store, moved from Court Square, on the North. Ferd and his sister, Fannie, are standing at the counter on the left side of the phonograph. Customers are in the aisles and a Corning Judge, George Richards, is having his shoes polished by a lad who wanted to make money. Electricity was available but but heat was provided by the wood burning King Heater."
