Otis and Lacona Parks
The story in the newspaper states:
"Mr. and Mrs. Otis Parks of Pocahontas celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary of Sunday, Aug 23 and in honor of the occasion a lovely dinner for family and close friends was given at Datto. Mr. and Mrs. Parks were married Aug. 29, 1889. He is 85 and Mrs. Parks is 79 years young.
The fine dinner was spread on a long table placed under the beautiful shade of the trees on the Datto school ground. Two large angel food cakes were decorated appropriately for the occasion and several other cakes added to the delicious dessert course. Thanks were offered by Bro. Knox Belew and more than 150 enjoyed the happy occasion. Among those present were the five Parks children, Charlie Parks and Mrs. Cecil Keith of Pocahontas, Mrs. Perry Wilson of Datto, Mrs. Sallie Parks of Heelstring and Mrs. Joe Reed of St. Louis, and their families.
Out-of-state guests were a sister, Mrs. Callie Reid of St. Louis, another sister, Mrs. Leona Richardson of Neelyville, Mo., a nephew, Leland Robinson, and wife, of Carmi, Ill., a neice, Mrs. Effie Richenbaugh, and husband, of Carmi, Ill, a cousin, Grover Malone, and wife, of Atlanta, Ga., a cousin, Elbert Johnsons, and family, of Memphis, a cousin, J. Malone of Memphis, a nephew, Oscar Richardson, of Manlor, Mo., a cousin, Mrs. Ambie Moore of St. Louis, a nephew, Dee Robinson, and family, of Dexter, Mo.
During the afternoon the group enjoyed visiting together and taking pictures. Mr. and Mrs. Parks received a number of beautiful and useful gifts."
