Knobel Club House on Corning Lake
"Well known to an earlier generation of Corningites was this club house which was matched by a similar building just to the South. The Knobel Club was organized of St. Louis fisherman and hunters, and appeared on the local scene in the late nineties. The club had extensive grounds and featured an abandoned St. Louis street car at the entrance to serve as a depot for club members to board or light from the Iron Mountain passengers train. To the South of the grounds was a wooded area that provided a picnic ground for the 4th of July celebrations that enlivened the long hot Summer."
