Who Needed 76 Trombones?
"Celebrating the completion of their new band stand, the Corning Military
Band of the first decade of the Twentieth Century posed on the Court Square lawn
while the afternoon gathering of local fans took over the stand and filled it
capacity. Sunday afternoon practice sessions and concerts helped pass away
the dull Sunday afternoon hours. Identification, seated, left to right, Ed
Hall, Curtis Black, Frank Grayson, Sam Hall, Ferd Phipps and Director W. W.
Henry. Standing, Sol Steinberg, Andy Bollenbacher, Dr. B. D. Tate, Charles
Black, Charley Gage, unidentifed, Ed Stephens, Roy Boyd, George Boyd, Jim
Bryant, Paul Oliver, and unidentified."
