Concrete Blocks...  the Miracle Building Material
"Concrete was hailed in Corning as the miracle building material of the first decade of the Twentieth century, and the Barnes and Moore concrete building that blossomed out on West Second Street in 1907 was the beginning of the concrete era.

"S. P. Lindsey furthered the movement by erecting this two story structure for his family on the southeast corner of Polk and Harb.  When the Lindseys moved to Linwood as a country residence, the home was occupied by E. L. Black and next by the Fred Arnold family."
