am RAY WEATHERS, son of RICHARD OMER WEATHERS, son of DAVIE RUSSIE WEATHERS, son
of REASON & MELISSA CAROLINE HUNTER. She was the daughter of HARDY "HORSE"
HUNTER & JANE CLARK. Jane Clark was a daughter of BENJAMIN CLARK, SR. My
father and I are the only ones named above who did not live in Arkansas. My
g-grandfather, REASON was married in DeQueen, AR, in 1850. My grandfather, DAVID
RUSSIE, was, as far as we know, born in or near DeQueen. HARDY HUNTER, known as
"HORSE" because of his horse trading activities throughout the South, was on the
Armstrong Choctaw Indian roll of 1830-31. Census records have shown him in
Arkansas. He later was in Red River County, Texas, where he married Jane Clark,
one of the older daughters of Benjamin Clark, SR., and a sister of James Clark
who founded the town of Clarksville. Now for my question: Do we have anybody in
common? Regardless of your answer, a prompt reply would be appreciated. I
noticed that you have a 76109 address in Ft. Worth. That would be somewhere in
the vicinity of Southcliff Baptist Church, would it not. Our daughter lives on

Grace.
Dale Graham was named for Dr. Dale who was the preceptor for JFG when he went to medical school in LR. After JFG finished school in 1888 the family moved to Malvern, AR, then to Hot Springs, AR. Robert Edwin's family lived in Gurdon, AR for a number of years and he worked for Missouri Pacific RR.
My father James Finley Graham II went to school at Arkadelphia in app. 1925. I believe there were relatives of his living in the area.
JFG died in Nov. 1907 and according to the funeral home records he was buried in Cave Hill Cem. which later became Rose Hill Cem. in Hope, AR. However efforts to locate the grave have been in vain and I have also been unable to find out when his wife died.

Query:
My great-grandfather, Richard Hawes Coleman, was born in Clark Co. in July 1857.
He was the son of Hawes Harris Coleman and Mary Anne Elizabeth Harris Coleman.
The family owned property near Okolona.
Richard H. Coleman married Mattie Lee Cook, also of Clark Co., in 1887, I believe. Mattie Lee had two brothers who lived in Clark Co. They were Pettis (possibly spelled Pettus) & LaFleur (known as "Flo"). They married & raised families in the county.
Richard & Mattie Lee moved to Nelson Co., VA in 1888. They kept in touch with the Colemans & Cooks back in ARK, but over the years the families have lost touch. I am trying to locate any descendants of Pettis or La Fleur Cook. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I can't figure out John H. Nelson. John Whitney Elkins had two sons with his
second wife, Citty Fogle -- David and Ralph. But John H. Nelson is on a deed
1856 Clark County (along with previously handled deed for Ralph and David)
having to do with relinquishing dower rights on property which had belonged to
John Whitney Elkins. How did dower rights work in Arkansas?
