Old Monticello Bridge Collapses "Old Monticello Bridge collapses" The Eagle Democrat, October 8, 1969 "The old Highway 4 bridge at Sutton's Landing, southeast of Warren, collapsed and fell into the Saline River at about 4 Monday afternoon. County Judge Rex Vick said a resident of the area was squirrel hunting and heard the bridge fall, but that he hadn't found anyone who actually saw it. The center pier of the old, condemned structure had been leaning for several years. Judge Vick said it tilted just far enough to fall over. The Judge said he'd try to get the debris cleared out of the river as soon as possible. He added that he heard of several residents driving across the bridge at mid-day Monday. The bridge was built about 55 years ago." Click on the picture above to see a larger image of the photo.
