Load of Cotton Photo Card near the photo reads: "Cotton was at first, in Arkansas, grown at the side of the wife's garden in which two or three rows were planted to provide cotton threads to loom into cloth for the family shirts and dresses. It became a cash crop soon after 1850. An average Bradley County crop would run to about 15,000 bales in a good year. Late in the 1960 decade cotton would no longer be grown in Bradley County."
