Wesley R. Smith, age 75, of Little Rock, retired Master Sergeant with the U.S. Army, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 13, 2005.

He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He won numerous awards including the President's Hundred Marksmanship Award.

Preceded in death by his parents, Brit and Lillian Smith, and one brother James Mark Smith, he is survived by his wife, Bettye, of fifty-two years and one-half years, one son, Wesley D. Smith, three daughters, Diane Andersen, Jeanne Shirley, and Pamela Marr; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and two brothers, C. D. Smith of Praire Grove, Arkansas, and Don Smith of Hermitage, Arkansas.

Funeral service will be held Monday, January 17, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth, 5800 West 12th, Little Rock, AR (501) 661-9111 with Martin Jameson officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday, January 16, 2005 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m.
