Funeral services for Fred Poole, 72, of Sarepta, LA. were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 17, 2007, at Bailey Mortuary Chapel, Springhill, LA. with the Rev. Ray Hearron and Bro. David Lewis officiating. A graveside service followed at 2 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, in Spearsville, LA.
Mr. Poole was born on July 12, 1934, in the Gravel Ridge area of Bradley County, to Otha Lewis Poole and Esteen Hollingsworth Poole. He grew up in Warren, AR and lived there until he moved to Springhill, LA. and he died May 15, 2007 in Springhill Hospital, following a courageous battle with asbestos. He was a charter member of Blockers Missionary Baptist Church, a former pipe fitter for International Paper Company and LAAP. He worked construction and was a member of the Pipe fitters Local 410, Shreveport, LA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ollie Ruth “Polly” Vines; and a brother, Robert William "R. W." Poole.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Peggy Beaird Poole of Sarepta, LA.; two daughters: Tammy Poole of Sarepta; and Linda Jean Hulsey of Fresno, California, one son, Fred Wayne Poole “Freddie” of Farmerville, LA.; Three Grandchildren: Courtney Michelle Poole and Seth Wayne Poole, both of Sarepta and Christopher Jay Hulsey of Fresno, CA. and three Great Grandchildren: Jayson, J.J., and Shennil Hulsey; one grand-stepdaughter Twila Pitkin Hulsey and six nephews; a host of friends and family and his faithful companion, Casey, his beloved Schnauzer.
Pallbearers were Daniel Thomas, Bo Ashcraft, Danny Ashcraft, Steve Ashcraft, Jeff Coleman and Tony Ashcraft.
Honorary pallbearers were Roger Hearron, Kenneth Watson and J.L. Rhymes.
