Flossie Mae Guthrey McMurry
Flossie Mae Guthrey McMurry of Little Rock went to be with her Lord, Sunday, July 8, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Millard Taylor McMurry; a son, Eugene O. Barrett; her parents, Reverend Leonard P. Guthrey Sr. and Pearl McDonald Guthrey; and a brother, Leonard P. Guthrey Jr.

She joined Baptist Tabernacle Church in 1947 as organist and served for 42 years in that capacity along with many other activities including preschool children and senior Bible Class. The church later moved west and became Parkway Place Baptist. She was employed by the Arkansas State Hospital for 43 years, at Benton and Little Rock, the last 25 years she was Administrative Assistant to the Commissioner of Mental Health. She was also a member of several Auxiliaries. She loved to travel and did so extensively. Her travels included Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, Israel, and each state in the United States - "God's beautiful world." She loved her Church, her family and many friends and loved to work in her yard - "A thing of beauty was a joy forever." She is survived by two sons, Larry J. McMurry and Randy McMurry; a granddaughter, Erin Whitten and her husband, Ryan; granddaughter, Wendy Anderson and her husband, Todd; and five great-grandchildren; Peyton, Caroline, Libby Claire, Max and Sam. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel (501) 224-8300 with Allan R. Greer and James Wilson officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 10.
