"This is my Dad, a son of Fred and Docia Poole. Clarence married Lola Vines on June 20, 1936 in Bradley County.

Clarence was discharged from the military during World War II to take care of his mother, his invalid sister, Gladys, and his wife (my mother), my brother and myself.

Clarence's brother Hardie, who was also in the Army, died on November 6, 1944 during World War II on Leyte Island in the Philippine Islands.

Clarence died of a heart attack in Ashley Memorial Hospital on July 13, 1976 and is buried at the Pinewood Memorial Cemetery in Ashley County beside his wife, Lola who died January 7, 2002." ~~Nora Poole Johnson
