Life and Death
How strange, we do not understand,
While we live with those we love,
That God may call us any time
To live with him above.
The things we do and the words we say
To the ones we hold most dear,
Should be deeds of love and words most kind
As the days grow into years.
Life is so short and death so sure,
We need so to realize,
This world is only a place to prepare
To meet Jesus above the skies.
Let us live our lives in such a way,
That when God calls us home,
We'll be ready to go and meet him there,
Not afraid to face him alone.
He wants us to live each day of our lives,
Forgiving - forgetting the past,
Love to do good and hate evil,
Live each day as if it were the last.
Remember this world is only a place
To prepare for the world above,
Where Jesus is waiting to welcome us there,
To be with the ones we love.
If people would only stop and think,
That we are only here for a day,
That God is sure to call us home,
Away from this world to stay.
When death creeps into our doorway,
Lays its hands ont eh ones we love,
Let's be able to look to Jesus
With the thoughts we will meet them above.
No matter how much we've accomplished,
Or how much of our riches we'd give,
All that counts when go to meet Jesus,
Is only the life that we've lived.
