1930 Census Takers

Laura M. Lane-Pitts & Addie Lee [Bruton] Farquharson

John Bruton's daughter Addie & his niece Laura Pitts were enumerators for parts of Boone County traveling by horse to residences gathering the information needed for the 1930 census. As a matter of fact Addie's name appears as the enumerator for the census for Bryan Township in 1930. It took the ladies from April 2nd to April 14th [13 days] to do the 63 households in Bryan Township by horse. They did not work on the 6th, 10th and 13th. They did 15 households on April 2nd & 3rd. 10 households on April 4th & 5th, 11 households on April 7th another 11 households on the 8th & 9th, 14 households on the 11th and 3 on the 14th of April. A total of 64 enumerated households in Bryan Township.

The same day that Laura and Addie ended Bryan Township with the last 3 households completed, they then continued on to enumerate Summit Township still within Boone County, Arkansas. They did 7 residences in Summit Township on April 14th, 8 residences on the 15th, 6 residences on April 16th, 13 residences on April 17th, 14 residences on April 18th, 2 residences on the 19th and the last day they did 3 residences; a total of 53 enumerated households for Summit Township.

Within 30 days these female cousins Laura M. Lane- Pitts & Addie Lee [Bruton] Farquharson traveled by horse to 117 residences within Boone County Arkansas in 1930 to do the census for Bryan & Summit townships.

Both school teachers and cousins Laura Lane-Pitts & Addie [Bruton] Farquharson were enumerators for parts of Boone County traveling by horse to residences gathering the information needed for the 1930 census.
