Baker |
I am trying to find out about my family during the
Civil War years. My great-great grandfather -- Littleton Baker homesteaded
land at Big Flat in 1855. He had at least two sons -- William Layfayette
Baker and James Moses Baker that served in the Civil War. They were in the
3rd Arkansas Calvary Union from 1864 on, but rumor has it that they served in
the Confederate army before that. I would like to know about their service in
the Confederate army -- what battles they fought in -- where they served and
so on. One of Littleton's daughters married a Lawrence
and they had 4 sons in the War also. I am new to genealogy and don't know
where to start. If someone could point me in the right direction I would
appreciate it. |

Landcaster,
Shehorn, Longster, Stratton |
I have been researching the Shehorn family. My
grandmother Mary Stratton's mother was Winnie Shehorn, born in 15 July 1887 in
Baxter Co. She married a F.M. Landcaster on 23 Nov 1902. She had a baby boy
that died and Mr. Landcaster or Longston died suddenly in some sort of
accident. She, then pregnant,
married my great-grandfather, Steve Stratton, in May of 1905. My grandmother was born on 8 July
1905. Winnie, I was told, died
suddenly after coming home from the store in Hutcheson, Kansas. Grandma said she collapsed with blood
coming from her ears, nose, mouth. She doesn't remember the date. If
anyone can help me regarding the Shehorns I would really appreciate it. I was also told by grandma that she
had a brother named Walter who had a wife Alice that died making lye
soap. All she remembers about
Winnie's mom is that they called her grandma Sinor. I have found a Marion and a John who I
believe were her siblings. Thanks so much Dianna E-Mail address

Phaby, |
Since my original inquiry December 13, 1997, Vera of
the Baxter County Historical Society has confirmed that my Grandfather, John
Phaby, was married in Baxter County Arkansas July 4, 1903 to Clara Fout. I have also obtained a copy of my
Grandfather's death certificate which indicates his parents were Thomas Phaby
and Nancy Brown Cook and that John Phaby was born March 15, 1880 in Laclede
County, Missouri. The birth parent information for my grandfather was
provided by my father and it's conceivable that a spelling error of the name
"Phaby" occurred with my grandfather. One possible alternate
spelling is "Pheby". If
anyone can help with information concerning Thomas and Nancy Brown Phaby or
Pheby, please send me an E-Mail. Thanks. |

Shehorn,
Landcaster, Longster, Stratton |
I have been researching the Shehorn family. My
grandmother Mary Stratton's mother was Winnie Shehorn, born in 15 July 1887
in Baxter Co. She married a F.M. Landcaster on 23 Nov 1902. She had a baby
boy that died and Mr.

Stratton,
Shehorn, Landcaster, Longster, |
I have been researching the Shehorn family. My
grandmother Mary Stratton's mother was Winnie Shehorn, born in 15 July 1887
in Baxter Co. She married a F.M. Landcaster on 23 Nov 1902. She had a baby
boy that died and Mr. Landcaster or Longston died suddenly in some sort of
accident. She, then pregnant,
married my great-grandfather, Steve Stratton, in May of 1905. My grandmother was born on 8 July
1905. Winnie, I was told, died
suddenly after coming home from the store in Hutcheson, Kansas. Grandma said she collapsed with blood
coming from her ears, nose, mouth. She doesn't remember the date. If
anyone can help me regarding the Shehorns I would really appreciate it. I was also told by grandma that she
had a brother named Walter who had a wife Alice that died making lye soap. All she remembers about Winnie's mom
is that they called her grandma Sinor.
I have found a Marion and a John who I believe were her siblings.

Tucker,
|
My ggrandfather was William E. Tucker born 1844 in
Ohio. Married Hattie Melinda
Cornell Sprague, Madison, Wisconsin, April 1864. They had 3 sons Clarence, Arthur and
Fred in Michigan then moved to Baxter/Izard/Fulton Co AR abt 1879 where 3
girls were born Lulu, Grace Edna and Birdie Avis. I believe Birdie was born near Advance, Baxter
July of 1886. William died Huron, Izard, September 1900 and Hattie died 1907
Huron, Izard. Both buried Corrinth Cemetery, Fulton (I think) just East of
Wild Cherry, AR. Arthur was my
grandfather. He married Sara Ann Lackey (born Norfork, Baxter 1887, died 1951)
August 1902. Arthur and Sarah had 2 children before they were divorced abt
1907. The first was William Edward "Ed" Tucker (July 1903-Apr
1968), my father. My mother is Geneva Kate Adams daughter of Joseph
Morton Adams and Sara Viola Smith, daughter of Calvin Smith and Katy Hamm.
Joseph Morton was son of James Davis Adams (Of Mountain Home, Baxter) and his
second wife. James Davis was the son of James who was the son of another
James. The elder James was married to Agnes Wilson, daughter of Matthew
Wilson of York County, PA. (now Adams county). I am just getting started in a determined way in
the Tucker family tree. If anyone has any info about William, Hattie or any
of their children (or anyone else Adams, Lackey) I would be very appreciative
if you would share it with me. |
